happy to see another location! inside was clean and there was seating as well. staff is friendly but didn't get to dine in this time. got the crab fried rice and pad see ew to go. portions were pretty good! i wish they gave some pickled jalapeños or hot sauce in the togo bag. fried rice has flavor but the crab was a little bland. pad see ew was chewy and delicious read more

Today's restaurant was Siam Station, on Jeffrey, in Irvine. The crab fried rice I ordered had large lumps of crab misused in with a full scrambled egg. It same with 2 fresh lime wedges. Very tasty and the table already has 3 popular topping for the rice. Be careful on the hot Thai chilis in the fish sauce. My appetizer was chicken stay and I must tell you those pieces were all tender and over double the size of most restaurants. I liked the peanut sauce which was thick and not watery at all. The servers came by several times to ask about additional drinks or other things I might require. For the price, you could share these both as an economical meal for 2 people. I will come back and try their drunken noodles next time. read more

Searching for some fast but healthy food I tried this location of Siam Station. I ordered some spicy chicken and Hainan Chicken to try. Food was good and balanced but found foil in my rice and notified the kitchen who offered to discount the meal. I passed on the discount and indicated that they need to be more particular on food prep. I tried the restaurant a second time with Papaya Salad, Phad Thai noodles, green curry chicken and "Roti". Long story short got sick...likely because the coconut milk was not fresh. Don't think I will try this again. The level of cleanliness in Thai resturants across the board needs to be improved. I say this because it has not improved in 40 years of trying a variety of restaurants. P.S. The employees working here offer excellent service!!! read more

Simply put, I would definitely comeback for the food, how quickly the food came out, atmosphere and service. We were lucky to get there at arouns 5:30pm or so with no line! There were still people eating but the restaurant had enough space to seat a couple more. The waiters were very nice even after we let them know we needed a few more minutes to order (many of the menu items looked enticing). We ordered the Khao soi, Kua Kai and mango sticky rice. Each item was terrific! I really enjoyed how flavorful the Khao Soi was with the curry paste and coconut milk. The crunchy noodles on top really added a nice texture to the overall dish. As far as the Kua Kai, it was my first time trying it but definitely not the last. The dish itself is looks straightforward but has plenty of dimension (also taste very fresh with the crunchy of the beansprouts!). Lastly, the mango sticky has its own twist with the rice itself colored blue. The mango was very sweet and tangy and all around it was a star! The food, service, and ambiance were all really nice. Our server was super friendly and even offered to bring out table lamps from inside since we were sitting outside. Such a thoughtful touch! We ordered the Papaya Pok Pok Salad, Khao Soi, and Pad See Ew. Everything was delicious. My favorite was definitely the Khao Soi. I like things extra spicy, so I do wish the dishes had a bit more heat, but the pickled chilies and peppers on the side were amazing. Super flavorful and spicy, I couldn't stop eating them! It's dog friendly in the outdoor seating area. Overall, a great experience. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes, and hopefully save room for dessert next time! read more

This is our third time coming here. In the past we've really enjoyed the service and food here. We came here 25 minutes before closing and were told we could not be seated and we had to order takeout. Ordered Pad Thai, Yellow Curry, Chicken Satay, and Pineapple Fried rice. Dishes were pretty good except for the chicken satay which was very dry and flavorless. They really could have seated us. So I'm not going to come back based on this experience. read more

Not an accommodating service at all. We've dined here twice, and during our first visit, I assumed the poor service was due to the server having a bad day, so I chose not to leave a comment. However, on our second visit, we had the same female server, and the experience was just as bad. The service was terrible and very disappointing. Unfortunately, I didn't get her name, but the poor service from this particular server really affected our dining experience. read more

This restaurant is amazing! Food is delicious. We got the chicken satay, roasted duck curry, pad kee meow, and spicy beef salad. Everything was delicious. The chicken satay wasn't dry at all considering that's chicken breast. As for the roasted duck curry, the curry sauce was super good with rice. Duck was a little bit salty and would be nice to add a bit more duck in there. We only had 3 pieces of duck. The spicy beef salad was refreshing, beef wasn't dry or chewy. That's my favorite. The food was okay, we got Pad Thai and the soup. However, the server at the restaurant ruined our experience here. There was no "thank you" when we left, no offering of chopsticks, no check in, and the service was overall unfriendly. We wanted to pick our own table as there were many empty ones around us, and the server seemed very upset and talked to their coworker as she pointed at us and gave us looks. I felt uncomfortable eating here, and the customer service was very unwelcoming. I will not come here again. read more

This has quickly become one of our favorite spots! The food is absolutely delicious and so full of flavor, authentic, and perfectly balanced. Every dish feels thoughtfully made. Siam Station finally opens up near our house, and it doesn't disappoint!!! The food is as amazing as the other location. We ordered the pad thai beef and tom kha chicken, and they were delicious!!! The service was wonderful and our server was attentive. The owner also greeted us to make sure everything was satisfactory. The new restaurant has a great ambiance, acoustics, and decor! Service-ok Ambience-ok Food- delicious but serving was very little for what you're paying for. I actually felt I was ripped off. Ive been to the one close to The District and their servings are way more than this location. I ordered the crispy pork and it was literally 1 little slice of pork and was just chopped into little pieces. The crab fried rice was very little too. We also ordered lychee lemonade and it wasn't even refillable. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this location at all and will never be coming back.. read more

Tried this new location with friends. Very clean and comfortable interior. We ordered zesty wings, shrimp rolls, Chicken Kua Kai, Tom Yum soup, mango sticky rice. Ordered through DoorDash so I can't attest to the service or ambiance of the restaurant, but the food was pretty good! I ordered the Tom Yum Noodles, Crab Fried Rice, and Pad See Ew. Please send me the video clip. I will never order from this restaurant again. Ordered 4 entrees tonight via DoorDash. Only 3 were delivered. I called the restaurant and the guy insists that he packed my order and included all items. He insinuated that the driver must have taken the missing entree. The bag delivered was stapled and completely closed. I highly doubt the driver decided to remove an entree for his dinner. Instead of owning up to his mistake, stubbornly blamed the delivery guy saying he put 4 staples to close the bag and asked me to take it up with DoorDash, knowing that DoorDash would resolve the issue. I find it highly unethical to punt the burden on DoorDash to correct the issue while he just profits $20+ for the missing entree. Other users of food delivery and DoorDash take heed of this business. read more

Siam Station is a sweet little Thai bistro in Irvine's Corporate Park (off of Jamboree & Barranca -- but I saw on Yelp that they have several locations). My friend from China took me there last week after telling me it was fabulous and she told me right!! The food was delectable and the service was prompt, polite and attentive. I had the good ol' standard Pad Thai but theirs is really XCLNT and the Thai chicken wings were super as an apéritif'! It's a crowded place but with a great vibe and plenty of tables outside. And our wait wasn't very long at all. I'm going back as soon as possible and can truly say I recommend it highly. read more

From what I understood, you're supposed to mix all the toppings into the soup with the noodles, but even after doing that, I still felt like the flavor was lacking. Yes, they provide seasoning on the side, but personally, I wish the broth already had enough flavor on its own without needing to adjust it myself. Would I come back? Probably not. Nothing really stood out to me enough to return, and it felt more like a one-time experience. Overall, everything was just okay.

Not only was the restaurant large (snagging a table was never an issue), but our food (typically) came out relatively quick. In addition, their menu was stocked with so many delicious options. It felt a little more Malaysian than Chinese to me, but, regardless, their collection of appetizers, dim sum items, congee, noodle soups, stir fried noodles, entrees, fried rice, and rice plates was so enticing, we couldn't help but come back to try more and more! -- HOT SAUCE TRAY I know it's kind of weird to mention this, but I love their dish of hot sauces. In particular, their jalapenos and chili oil go well with everything we've had here. -- CRISPY TOFU This may not have looked quite like what I had expected, but this was pretty good! The tofu was pillowy soft and piping hot while the outside of it was surprisingly crispy, given how it's not really battered. -- WONTON NOODLE SOUP - Pork & Shrimp Wonton, Egg Noodles We got this as part of their weekday special ($12 all-day, dine-in only), so I'm not sure if the portion size is any different. Either way, this was great. The wonton skins were a little thin, but each piece was plump and juicy, the noodles had a nice bite, and the broth was solid. -- CHAR KWAY TEOW - Shrimp, Chinese Sausage, Bean Sprouts, Egg, and Large Rice Noodles I've been on a bit of a kick ordering this whenever I see it and this was one of the better ones. The noodles were cooked really well (very bouncy), the dish had a slight kick yet it wasn't overly salty/seasoned, and the dish wasn't overloaded with beansprouts. -- SPICY GARLIC CALAMARI Ehh...this wasn't "bad", but it was definitely underwhelming. Although these were seasoned well and had a nice crispiness, the calamari itself was chewy and reminded me of the generic type you get at most other Chinese restaurants. -- TRIO OF BEEF NOODLE SOUP - Sliced Tenderloin, Beef Ball, Beef Stew (Beef Shank, Tripe, Tendon, Carrot), and Egg Noodles I was super hopeful for this one, but it turned out to be just okay. For me, the ingredients tasted fine, but the portion seemed a little light on the beef shank and the broth needed a bit more body to it (felt a little thin). -- CRISPY HAINAN CHICKEN - Deep Fried Dark Meat, Pickled Vegetables, Ginger Rice, Soy Sauce, Ginger, and Chili Sauce Not very traditional, but no less delicious. Boneless Hainan Chicken is appealing enough, but fried, too? While I wish there had been more of it, each piece was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The ginger rice was quite tasty as well! -- WAGYU BEEF POSTICKERS Pretty standard, though, not necessarily in a bad way. Although there wasn't much of a browned bottom/crust on these, I love how big and plump these were and how the filling had a nice, beefy flavor to it. -- HONG KONG STYLE CHOW FUN WITH CHICKEN, Seasonal Greens, Carrot, Mushroom, Egg, Gravy Sauce, and Large Rice Noodles This was just okay for me. The dish had a good ratio of vegetables and meats to noodles, but the gravy didn't do much for me - there was so much of it, it felt more distracting than additive. -- MANGO GREEN TEA Surprisingly, this wasn't nearly as sweet as I feared it would be. The mango flavor in this wasn't super intense and went well with the green tea. Along with how satisfying most of Capital's dishes have been, the other thing that I liked about this place was the staff. Every time we came here, the workers were always friendly and really attentive, even despite how they usually only had one server working. That being said, it has never been all that busy either, which might help explain why their closure. As genuinely bummed as I am to learn that this place has closed, it should be said that it's not like Capital Noodle Bar is gone forever. If you missed your chance to try them, or just want to eat here again, they have another location in Costa Mesa that's still open and just a short drive away. I've been eagerly waiting for this location once I saw the sign posted. I visited the new Siam Station location recently and was really impressed! The staff here are super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Compared to the other location, this one has a lot more parking, which is such a relief. Inside, everything is clean, spacious, and there's plenty of seating, so it never feels cramped even when it's busy. And of course, the most important part -- the food tastes great! Everything we ordered came out fresh and flavorful, just as good (if not better) than what I've had before. Tried the new Siam Station location in Irvine for takeout and... wow. The food was so good! Everything was hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. Pickup was super easy and the staff were really nice. Another thing that bugs me is that they never seem to have their Signature Braised Duck. The price is high on that one, but I still want to try it. However, it is never available, even when I have tried to order it right when they open and at various other times of the day. Overall, though, I still really like the food here. It's always busy for a reason. Another thing to note is that ordering through Toast is the same price as in the restaurant, so that makes it easy and convenient!

Lately, though, I've been missing fine Chinese dining - the kind that showcases regional traditions with an emphasis on precise techniques, careful sourcing, and premium ingredients. For some reason, these restaurants seem much easier to find in East Asia than in Greater Los Angeles. Sure, there are places like Henry's Cuisine, Meizhou Dongpo, and Bistro Na's. Still, I was eager to discover another restaurant that offers refined Chinese cuisine. Then someone told me about a newly opened Cantonese restaurant called Long He. Naturally, I convinced my family to celebrate Father's Day there. We arrived at 11:40 am, just ten minutes after opening, and the dining room was already about three-quarters full - a very encouraging sign. Here are the dishes we ordered. Pan-Roasted Chicken with Sand Ginger (沙姜煎焗鸡) - 5/5. This is a simple, comforting clay pot dish featuring bone-in chicken seasoned with rice wine, sand ginger, garlic, scallions, and soy sauce. Despite its simplicity, the execution is outstanding. Every ingredient comes together to create chicken that is deeply savory, aromatic, and beautifully balanced. I especially appreciated the generous use of whole garlic cloves, which were roasted until soft and sweet enough to enjoy on their own. Sizzling Three Cup Silver Cod (铁板三杯银鳕鱼) - 4.5/5. Silver cod (often marketed as Chilean sea bass) is one of my favorite fish thanks to its rich, buttery texture and naturally high fat content. While this wasn't the finest cut I've ever had, it was still moist and satisfying. The Three Cup sauce was flavorful, but I felt it complemented the fish rather than elevating it to another level. Even so, it's a memorable dish that I'd happily order again. Crispy Five Spice Pork Roll (脆皮五香卷) - 4.5/5. The filling has an impressively smooth texture without becoming rubbery or mushy. The seasoning is subtle yet refined, with just the right balance of umami and five-spice aroma. The wrapper is fried until crisp while remaining light rather than dry or brittle. My only criticism is that one piece came from the end of the roll, where the wrapper had been folded several times. That section fried up noticeably harder than the rest. It's a minor flaw--and admittedly a bit of nitpicking--but it slightly detracted from an otherwise excellent dish. Macau-Style Salted Fish Eggplant Clay Pot (澳门咸鱼茄子煲) - 4/5. I believe Long He uses a higher-quality salted fish with a noticeable fermented character. That flavor may be an acquired taste; I enjoyed it, though the rest of my family wasn't as fond of it. The eggplant, however, was outstanding. It was beautifully browned with a delicate caramelized crust while remaining incredibly tender and silky inside. On the downside, the dish is greasier than it should be. Mango Pomelo Sago (杨枝甘露) - 3.5/5. The mango purée is easily the highlight. It's silky-smooth with a clean, balanced flavor that avoids becoming overly sweet or overly rich. The sago pearls were also cooked perfectly, providing just the right texture. However, the dessert lacked pomelo. I would have loved more pomelo segments, with brighter citrus notes and a touch more acidity to balance the mango's sweetness. Overall, considering Long He has only recently opened, I think it has built a very strong foundation. While it sits at a higher price point than your typical Cantonese restaurant, the cooking feels much closer to what you'd find at a fine dining Cantonese establishment. The kitchen demonstrates careful technique, quality ingredients, and thoughtful execution throughout the meal. Long He is a promising new addition to Greater Los Angeles' Chinese dining scene, and it's absolutely worth a visit. I'm looking forward to seeing how the restaurant continues to evolve over time.
