The Dan Dan noodles were yummy and a little spicy. Nice textures and a good amount of noodles. Spicy wontons were good. I keep comparing everything to that place at the mall. Their spicy sauce is better but I like these wontons better. Xlb was all right. Dough was a touch thick so it was a little light on the soup. Very delicious though. We asked the waiter for recommendations and he suggested honey walnut shrimp. Now I've had a lot of this at restaurants where they also serve bright red sweet and sour sauce. So I raised an eyebrow. He tried to explain the flavor but was struggling for words. Now this is what honey walnut shrimp should be. Not mayonnaise heavy but had a good creaminess and sweetness. It almost had a citrus flavor. The shrimp were huge too. If I had a complaint it would be that the batter was just a touch undercooked. I saw this place on yelp and figured I would try it out since it had been forever since I've had Chinese food. Came in for lunch and got the lunch special; hot & sour soup, scallion pancake and sweet & sour chicken. OMG. It was soooo good. Huge portion, fresh and delicious! I really enjoyed the ambiance here--it definitely has that cozy, true-to-its-name bistro feel. The service was very attentive, and the staff was kind and patient with us. My husband was having a reunion with a cousin he hadn't seen in years, so we took our time catching up and weren't quick to decide on the menu. We never felt rushed, which we really appreciated. We ended up ordering way too much food because we didn't realize how generous the portions were. There were five of us, so ordering five dishes seemed appropriate at the time--but honestly, three probably would have been enough! Thankfully, nothing went to waste, and we enjoyed some great leftovers the next day. The spicy garlic eggplant and green beans were definite favorites at the table. My family ate here last night and we had such a great experience! We ordered the hot and sour soup, the chicken fried rice, shrimp with broccoli and the spicy wonton in chili oil. ALL were delicious! Their fried rice tasted like the fried rice we enjoyed from Jin Wa in Beaverton (which has been permanently closed for awhile now). Our favorite was the spicy wonton in chili oil! The owner said they make it fresh, homemade that morning and it was so good! The spice wasn't too spicy that we couldn't enjoy it, and there was a good amount of meat filled in the wonton. This place has a cozy vibe with nice, bold decor hanging from the ceiling. The owner and staff were so nice from the time they welcomed us in, to the end. Glad to see a Chinese restaurant up in this area. We came for a weekend lunch and the restaurant was nearly full. We quickly looked over the menu and ordered a few items: Orange Chicken, Dry Fried Green Beans, and Mapo Tofu. The food came out fairly quick and piping hot. All the dishes were yummy and cooked well but my favorite was the Mapo Tofu, it was spicy but not overwhelmingly spicy. They serve it vegetarian style with no meat, which I've never had it this way before. While I understand the prices are a bit higher than other similar restaurants, I appreciate the quality of the food and can tell it's worth the price. read more

Amazing Sichuan restaurant in the Teal blvd plaza. As you walk in you are taken back by the decor and friendly staff. My son and I stopped by during lunch. I ordered the shrimp fried rice , huge portion with lots of good size bites of shrimp, I paired it with a Mild Stir fry with beef pepper, the picture says it all, what a tasty dish with a ton of pepper and a kick. Be cautious the mild still packs a nice spice punch. This is a must try dish. My son had the Chungqing spicy noodle, lots of noodles and flavor, great portion. Over all a little pricy but worth sharing dishes, the meat and veggies were good quality with a lot of flavor. We topped it all off with green tea! There are vegetarian options such as the dry pot cauliflower and stir fry mixed vegetables that I enjoyed. The mapo tofu was good, but I didn't taste much spice. I wouldn't recommend the fried vegetable noodles because the sauce didn't well with the dish. The serving of the rice bowl was disproportionate, and it is unfortunate that they don't serve a rice pot because it was unfair to have different amounts of rice scooped in a bowl. Similarly, they charge for a tea cup ($3) for a pot tea which is unusual for me because I'm used to restaurants charging for each tea cup or each tea pot. We ordered honey walnut shrimp for to go and it was the smallest portion of shrimp and rice that we've ever seen for $25. I didn't know that to go boxes could be that small. The REAL DEAL, authentic Sichuan-style cooking. I was surprised the spice level wasn't what I expected for Sichuan food but I'm a wimp anyway so it was just right for me. They say that all their spices are sourced directly from Sichuan Provence, so if you know your spices, you're in for a treat. We tried a number of dishes that were right around $20 each. That may seem a tad high price point but the servings were HUGE and we had plenty leftover for lunch the next day. Tried the Kung Pao shrimp ($21), Mongolian Beef ($20), Chicken with green beans ($18), stir fried mixed veggies ($17), and beef with green onions ($20). White rice only, no brown. Everything was very tasty and mildly spiced since that's my preference but ask for it fiery hot if that's what you like. If you are more adventurous they also have spicy frog's legs with peppers, chicken gizzards, duck blood, beef tripe, or pork intestines that you probably will not find anywhere else and I can pretty much guarantee that. Service was very friendly, quick, and as I said, portions were more than generous. All of our food was fresh, obviously cooked to order and piping hot at service. The dining area is casual with tables being a comfortable distance apart and pretty paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Pretty, not tacky. Parking is easy and right outside the door. Totally wheelchair/walker accessible. Not sure this is a great place for kids, especially if they are picky eaters. I'll definitely be going back. read more

The neighborhood is missing out on traditional Chinese restaurant so I was excited to see this restaurant join the hood. Our family of four had lunch on Monday and it was open seating, no wait at all. The staff was courteous and prompt. The interior is vibrant and casual, plenty of interior seating. We ordered the beef broccoli, general taos chicken, veggie noodles and xiao long bao dumplings - all to be shared family style. The two entrees came with a side of rice. The chicken and beef dishes were consistent, nothing over the top and not awful, decent. The noodles were packed with veggies but had an unusual taste, no one at the table could pinpoint it. The bao came out piping hot, again it was average. The dipping sauce was not good. Maybe there are still figuring things out and I'll need to revisit after some time! Probably one of the most authentic Sichuan restaurants in Beaverton/Hillsboro/PDX area. They actually use pickled hot peppers, lots of Sichuan peppercorn, and spices that while hot, but is also fully flavored. We had stir fried pork liver and kidney (Uncle Wang Fans favorite) and fish in spicy sauce and both were great. The prices were fantastic for the portion. I've only ever ordered takeout here- their hot pepper chicken (辣子鸡) is a large portion which I always have leftovers for. The chicken itself is crispy and fried well, but it's not spicy at all despite how many peppers there are. It tastes like they cooked and marinated the chicken without peppers, then threw the peppers in at the end. It also does not come with veggies unlike the way Taste of Sichuan did. The sichuan cold chicken was also very very good too. Service was great and refilled water regularly (a must for sichuan cuisine!). I was hesitant to eat here because the reviews but tried it anyways. It's a newish spot that opened and honestly the food is pretty good! Compared to the other Chinese restaurants in the area, this place was better than them. However, they do lack spice in a lot of the meals. Flavor is good, especially the garlic green beans. The fried rice was also good the only thing that threw me off were the big chunks of red onion but honestly it paired well. The fried ribs were sweet though and I'm not a fan of sweet things. The Dandan noodles were also kinda sweet and not spicy at all and spicy tripe also wasn't spicy. Overall, I'll rate is 5 because I think their rating on yelp should be higher. We got takeout and ordered the sweet and sour pork ribs, mapo tofu, dry pot beef, and chicken with broccoli. I'm a really big sucker for Chinese food. This area is absolutely missing a Chinese place, and it is a void that would be easy to fill by just being a mediocre cheap place. Sichuan Bistro does not fill that void. I wouldn't go all the way to saying it is mediocre. The Hot and Sour soup was, for sure. One of the lowest quality hot and sour soups I've had that still passed as food. Just very bleh. Not much going on with it. It wasn't so bad I wanted to throw is away, but it wasn't anything special. I got the General Tso's Chicken because that is my test for new Chinese food places. It was pretty good, high quality even. The sauce was thick and flavorful, it was pretty hoison sauce heavy, maybe a bit too much so, and not spicy in the least. It was like a 4/5 star General Tso's. So why am I leaving a 2 star review? Rice, tea, and gluten. This place charges a dollar for a little side of rice. It is already fairly expensive, but the feeling of being nickel and dimed is present everywhere. This is the ONLY Chinese food place I've ever been to that charges for tea. Not fancy tea, just regular old green tea. 3 dollars. What in the kung pao is that? And finally, they have NO gluten free options here. We got food from two different places because my dining partner will die if they eat here. No accommodations for common allergies is pretty shocking. Overall, as much as I want to like this place... I just don't feel like it is worth the cost. If the items came with soup, tea, and rice, it would likely be a infrequent occurrence when I am dining alone that I may go here. But with the ZERO gluten free options, I just don't see myself coming here again. read more

I've eaten at thousands of Chinese restaurants both here and abroad in my life so I do feel that I have a baseline of excellence or mediocrity in which to compare. We ordered Kung Pao and broccoli chicken. My Kung Pao did not resemble anything close to Kung Pao that I have ever had. Sure, Kung Pao is an interpretive dish with each chef cooking up their own version and this bistro is attempting to offer up "authentic" Chinese fare. The broccoli chicken had good broccoli but no flavor. We paid $50.00 for 2 entrees which didn't even include the usual side of white rice. Both of our entrees lacked and meaningful flavor or spice. One bite into my experience I had to stop and make my own Kung Pao sauce to boost the flavor. It's trendy for Chinese cooks to "silk" the chicken and other meats by marinating the protein in an egg and cornstarch mixture prior to cooking. If overdone -- and our entrees were absolutely overdone -- will result in a rubbery and slimy texture to the chicken and the rest of the dish. Pro Tip: If ordering take-out, be sure you cook some rice beforehand. Otherwise Pay $2.00 a 1/4 cup amount in the smallest sauce box container available. I really wanted to like this place as the Beaverton area seems to lack any quality Chinese food since Covid time. It now seems that an acceptable level of over priced mediocrity is the new standard. Do yourself a favor and just visit the deli counter at Safeway or go to Panda express instead. It may not be any good but at least you know you will get what you pay for. read more
