Sideburns is a true hidden gem in Long Beach; conveniently located right next to The Stache Bar. I originally came for the Vegan Breakfast Burrito; and it absolutely delivered. Refried beans; crispy tots; vegan cheese; avocado; mushrooms -- hearty; filling; and layered properly. But what really makes this burrito stand out are the house-made sauces. The salsa has the perfect heat; and their vegan dipping sauce elevates the entire experience. You can taste the intention. Now let's talk about the burger. The vegan burger is not an afterthought here. It's juicy; well-seasoned; and balanced. The texture is on point; the toppings are fresh; and it holds its structure without falling apart. You can tell they care about execution. Between the house-made sauces; the fusion flavor profile; and the consistency across both items; Sideburns earns its spot. If you're in Long Beach and want vegan comfort food done right; this is absolutely worth pulling up to.

Our go to spot for great burgers! Vegan burger is so good. When we think burgers, we come here. Think the Win-dow but with more options. Love that they have tons of vegan options. Also have hot dogs, fries and tots. Ambiance: decor is cool. It's next to the Stache bar, so you can order here and have a drink there. Service: great Parking: street, it's busy

1st timers today, and will def not be our last visit. Shout-out to the Yelp reviews lead us to this Amazing Smash burger joint. Our order: -Onion rings (the right batter to sliced onion ratio & delicious seasoning); -the french fries- crispy and the right amount of salt seasoning *dipped into their Jalapeno ranch, and you will be left smiling!* -the Works: What a burger! I love Portabello mushrooms, caramelized onions, and Persian cucumbers, so when I read that on the menu, I knew I had to order this, and I am not disappointed! This hit the spot. The smash patty topped with my favorites made for a perfect burger filling party. -the Don Chendo burger- the salsa Don Chendo on a jalapeño-Cheddar bun - culinary innovation at its finest! For non-spicy eaters like myself, you can eat this. This is definitely tolerable spice with a delicious flavor that overrules any "heat". The buttery, softness of the bun with the cheddar and jalapenos melted into it compliment the flavors of the patty, red onions and Chendo sauce. Having a burger is a rare craving for us, and thankfully our taste buds led us here this time that we did, because we were left, not only satisfied, but can safely say that this is one of the fewest Exceptional burgers we have tried thus far. Burgers are huge too! You def get more bang for your buck here. Staff was very welcoming, friendly and attentive toward us. We truly appreciated the warm greeting and them making sure we felt comfortable with their product deliveries coming in/out of the restaurant while we ate. Not too big & not too small of a place. Ample seating booths make for a comfy social occasion. We highly recommend to All! & will return again!

Solid burgers!! This place is so cute and hidden on the corner. We got two burgers, onion rings, and fries. Burgers were delicious. The onion rings were really really good and crispy. The fries were also really good. Loved our meal and would definitely be back!!

Came here to try their burgers and tots with my friend. We got take out and I was so disappointed to get home and saw that they messed up on my order! We had asked for tater tots and they gave us fries... as for the burger, we got the Works which came with beer battered portobello mushrooms. However, there were only probably 2 pieces in our burger :( I really wanted to like this place. Maybe it was a busy Friday night. Not sure.

Stopped at this little spot right connected to a bar and was real excited. Got me a burger and some tater tots. The burger had like 6,000,000 ingredients which I don't mind but it was just falling all over the place. The ingredients were generic, all tasted like store bought ones. The patty wasn't quality either. The tater tots were decent, a little too crunchy but nothing to ride home about. Burger 6.9 Tots: 6.8

I visited this restaurant since my friend and I were looking for a cheap dinner option with good vegan options in the Long Beach area. I ordered the poutine burger with a 1/2 order of onion rings and it was good. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and charred which I liked. However, the sandwich was a bit too carby with the bready buns and the fries. The fries were also not crispy. The onion rings were solid. They were golden and crispy and paired well with the fresh side ranch sauce. However, this whole meal was oily, greasy, and fatty. There was a pool of liquids at the bottom of my basket which I wasn't a big fan of. However, the big portion sizes were good relative to price. I left not feeling the greatest and wanting a salad. If you're into food like this, it's a solid option though. Driving and parking in the area was a bit sketchy. It is also only street parking I believe. Walking-in the restaurant, the interior wasn't the nicest. It didn't seem very well maintained and there was thick smoke that filled the air and the surfaces were sticky from the menus to the tables. The service was really good though. The servers seemed super nice and gave us recommendations upon request. Overall, a decent experience here. I'd say the biggest thing going for it is having solid vegan options, but I would recommend improving food quality and restaurant cleanliness.

Pretty empty on a Sunday but it was a bit of a wait to order as well as get our food. We were starving, so I'm happy they gave us the onion rings first. Parking is street parking so should arrive early to look for a spot. Our order: Onion rings - soo very crispy and the ranch is so good. A bit on the oily side though. My favorite of all that we ordered Chili cheese fries - good but just needs meat. Was all beans Hotdog - very beautifully dressed and also delicious. Just wish it was bigger! Italian stallion burger - love the pesto sauce. Not too heavy Hill Burger - lots of meat. Basically all meat. I didn't love it but my bf did Restroom is available in their bar side which is accessible next door. The

Located at Long Beach where parking could be a bit tougher to find. We were able to find parking on the streets about a block away. I'm a bit generous with the rating, since the burger was decent but it's not a place I would go often. It's kind of a place where people who love those comfort heavy, greasy, cheesy, indulgent food spots. I can see the appeal, but it's not for me. The burgers are very filling and had a good amount of flavor, though I do wish the patties were juicier or crispier- but it's a smash burgers so I shouldn't expect the same quality as how I grill for myself at home with my personal preference. The place was a bit hot, and it didn't feel like the A/C was really on. The restroom is through a connected bar next door. It's a small spot with only 2-3 people working, so service was on the slower side but the lady helping us was very friendly. The Works- I enjoyed this the most from being the most simple with the added crispy beer-battered portobello mushroom. I love burgers with lettuce and tomatoes with onions. However, American cheese wasn't melted and the whole thing was messy to eat. Hulk Smash- huge burger with 3 patties, with bacon- good if you are hungry and want protein Italian Stallion- A lot of pesto flavoring, reminds me more of an Italian sandwich that's overly herby for a burger. Smash Cristo- completely battered and deep fried, with honey and powdered sugar. I didn't try it myself since it looked extremely heavy and oily, which just isn't for me since I'm prioritizing health. But if you're into fried foods and cheesiness, it could be right up your alley. Chili Cheese Fries- taste decent with crispy fries Onion Rings- beer battered and crispy. extremely oily but it's yummy! the sauce included with it was so good! Chicago Dog- small sausage with a lot of toppings (relish, tomato, onions, pickle, mustard). Was standard and OK. They also have many vegan options and a selection of beers/soda in the fridge to grab yourself.

So I was really in the mood for a smashed burger and wanted to try something new. So thanks to other Yelp reviews, i drove down to Long Beach and tried Sideburns out! Parking can be stressful depending on what day/time. I was able to find parking on Zona Court, but kept watching my car. They are a block off Alamitos on 4th. Not the greatest block, but it was an awesome burger! The bun was soft, I did a regular Smashed Cheese Burger with the caramelized onions and their sauce. Bro behind the counter asked if I wanted lettuce and tomatoes - but wanted mine plain. Juicy burger, crispy edges, but it wasn't smashed as much as I would have liked. My patty was cooked medium to med rare (perfect) and seasoned well. Bread to patty ratio was good. I also ordered the onion rings. Nice thick and thin slices of onion dipped in an IPA batter that wasn't heavy and held onto the onion well. This was crispy, light and just a hint of heat (imho) in the batter - perfect. Next time I'm ordering a full order of onion rings! They had a selection of beers and sodas in the fridge - but if you want more, go next door to the bar and you can order food! The inside was a bit dark, it was at sunset so they may not turned on the lights yet. I'm a bigger dude and they only have booth seating here that was a bit snug. Stop by here for lunch or late night as they close pretty late.plenty of other items I need to try next. OH, and they have Vegan options too!!

Sideburns has some great burger toppings. I stopped in for lunch and had a hard time deciding which one to try. I asked for a suggestion and the person taking my order recommended the poutine burger so that's what I had. This was a tasty burger! I will be back to try the other burgers.

We parked in the multi-story parking garage behind Hamburger Mary's. Secret Island is a little over a block away. You can make reservations on OpenTable. It has a bit of a speakeasy entrance, as it is not plainly marked. Look for the staircase going down with greenery around it and the Secret Island sign downstairs. Go right at the bottom of the stairs and there is a little walkway where you see a very cool tiki display. It you stay there long enough, the lights will flash and you will hear thunder. Walk a little further and go through the door to enter. I was blown away by the atmosphere and build. Kudos to Bamboo Ben! It is dimly lit with a ton of cave wall, bamboo, thatch, netting, tiki lights, floats, skulls, tikis, and other décor. The bar is loaded with bottles and looks great with dark blue and green backlighting. The bar top is wood with deep cutouts that are filled with clear epoxy. The booths in the main dining area are little tiki huts and even have clouds overhead. There was great tiki music playing the whole time. A few times an hour a thunderstorm hits. The lights dim, lightning flashes with thunder sound effects, and red lights illuminate cracks in the floor that looks like lava veins. There is also a photo-op "Pele's Throne" which is a big lava rock surrounded chair. We sat at the bar and had the coconut shrimp appetizer ($12). The shrimp were breaded and cooked well, and had a coconut sprinkle on top. The spicy dipping sauce complemented the shrimp well. I started out with the Drunken Monkey (Makers Mark 46, Jamaican rum, banana liqueur, cinnamon, allspice, Angostura bitters, normally $19, $17 during happy hour). It was somewhat bourbon forward with a little funk from the Jamaican rum. I definitely got the cinnamon notes with a little banana and allspice in the background. She started out with the El Capitan Hook (Del Maguey mezcal, pineapple, banana liqueur, Luxardo cherry liqueur, lime, $17, $15 during happy hour). This was smoke forward with light pineapple and banana flavor. I had the Hula burger ($18) which was very good with a lot of different flavors from the various toppings. It came with a decent amount of fries, and was a filling plate. She had the pineapple bowl fried rice and added with BBQ pork ($17 + $5 for pork add-on). It is served in half of a scooped out pineapple and had a good amount of rice with pork and green onions on top. It had a good mix of teriyaki sauce on the rice and BBQ sauce on the pork. Next, I had the Rum Runner (coconut and blended dark rums, banana liqueur, raspberry, grenadine, pineapple, orange, lime, $18, $15 during happy hour). It was very pineapple and coconut forward which overpowered all of the other ingredients. She also had the Let That ManGo (white rhum agricole, coconut, mango, lemon, $18, $16 during happy hour). The primary flavors here were mango with some grassiness from the agricole. We were here from about 6pm to 8pm on a Wednesday night and it was pretty dead with only a few other people in the place the whole time. They do have a stage in the back with live music acts, so it is probably busier when there is entertainment and on weekends. Our first bartender was Alex who was nice but we barely talked with him. Manager Pedro took over the bartender duties later on and we had a great time chatting with him. Service was great from both of them. The drinks are a few dollars above average, but if you come during happy hour, the drinks are several dollars off. Happy hour is currently all day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, and Thursday through Saturday from 5pm to 8pm. The food was good, the drinks were ok to good, and the atmosphere was great. Normally, this would probably be a one and done, but I really liked the build and would like to come back when it is busier, maybe on a weekend.
