AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking (generally 2 hr limit), it can get pretty busy so good luck. Seating: Inside the seating room for maybe about 20 people and 6 groups. Feels: On the oh-so-famous 4th Street but more on the local side but not too far away to get to the beach. It's a grit and grind area in a pretty diverse spot filled with a Jamaican store, Ramen spot, and vegan restaurant. The spot itself is nothing flashy but has some personality. They're definitely Dodger fans (Go Giants), there's a tv assuming for big games, and the spot is decorated with its quirky, playful, art of burgers and fries. FOOD: The Works Burger (Recommend) Delicious taste and pleasant presentation. The bun was puffed and well glazed, the patty was grilled, charred, and juicy, and the pleasant compliments of cheese, onions, cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce, and fried portabello mushrooms were a delight. I don't think I ever had cucumbers in a burger but it was pretty good - fulfilling, refreshing, and a nice crisp. The fries complemented the burger well. I enjoyed the hot, savory, crispness of each fry. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Straight business with personality and professionalism. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Because this was some loud, but excellent late-night eating. --- --- --- I was in Long Beach for one night for work, but mission #2 was to see local celebrity, Alex L and his better half for a post-work-event dinner. They were fancier than what I was expecting somehow - I guess I was wanting traditional onion rings that you get from old-school burger places and these were very lightly battered, almost tempura style. I was really excited to try the burgers. Extra star for creativity and whimsey. My boyfriend got the smash cristo burger and I got the Italian stallion. Unfortunately, both burgers were a little disappointing. The smash cristo was wild - if you've ever had a monte cristo at Disneyland, then you know what's up. It's basically a deep fried burger patty, battered, and deep fried, then drizzled with powdered sugar and berry sauce. It wasn't bad, but I don't think the burger "fillings" were seasoned enough to compete with the fried batter and sauce. The Italian stallion burger came with burrata and pesto. The older I get I just really have a hard time with businesses that act personal over business instead of being professional. I was going to this placesometimes twice a week & order a grilled chicken sandwich and instead of the ranch that they put on it, I like the chipotle creeper so sometimes, I would notice my total was $16 and sometimes it was 18 and some change. I decided to ask and I really should've waited to ask the young man but, I asked the young lady there already kinda had a weird vibe and she said oh I have to charge you for an extra sauce and I was like oh I didn't realize, I was getting an extra one because it was in replacement of what you would have put on the sandwich. I don't get the ranch and instead would have the chipotle creeper so apparently the girl was charging me $1.50 extra and the other workers were not so when I asked this, she was rude & weird about it so whatever it's only a bar sandwich, but then a month or so later I had tried to call and make an order the same way I alway have and they have never pick up my phone calls anymore never again after this day as anyone picked up the phone to take my order. I guess the owner doesn't like money & this lady his staff is petty and insecure about this whole situation. Parking is a bit difficult (street parking only) but the burger makes up for that. My friend ordered "The Works Burger" with onion rings and I ordered the "Hulk Smash" with fries. Both burgers and sides were delivered to the table piping hot. The onion rings had an amazing crunch to them and the fries had the perfect amount of salt in them. The burgers were next level... the works had a deep fried mushroom that also had an awesome crunch. The Hulk was huge but amazing as well. The service was excellent and the staff were super friendly.
