This is one of my new favorites! A hidden gem in Piermont. Food is fantastic! I had the mussels which are offered in 3 different broths (I tried all 3 on different occasions). I recently had codfish. I ate hear for the first time tonight. It used to be mexican but now it's a french bistro. the outside seating is very nice in the warmer weather. The inside looked cozy too and i'm told they have an outside Tiki Bar in the summer too. The pizzetta was terrific as was the creme brulee, they served it with some brown sugar baked in. the scotch they served me was nearly a full glass instead of the usual quarter! this could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. We went to Sidewalk Bistro on Saturday evening, and it was quite busy. We were offered a table on the inside, not far from the bar, but opted to wait for a table in an adjoining room, which was quieter (there was a large party in the other room). There are also tables outside the front of the restaurant and in an inner outdoor courtyard, but it was a little too cold for us. In warmer weather (or, perhaps, a bit earlier, before the sun went down), the courtyard would have been very appealing. The food was generally very good. My wife and I shared Mussels a la Basquaise, with prosciutto, peepers and tomatoes, as an appetizer, and it was quite good. One of our friends had scallops cerviche as an appetizer, but was unhappy with it because it was made with cilantro, which she doesn't like, and it was not mentioned to her when the waiter described the dish. We tasted it, and I would describe it as OK, but not great. I also had the fish special (as did one of our friends), which was prepared with a fish which was described as being similar to grouper and with a provencal sauce. This was quite good, and I would recommend it if it is offered in the future. My wife had shrimp and scallops with spinach pasta in a saffron sauce, which was also quite good. Our other friend had duck, which he enjoyed. The bottle of Sancerre wine which we ordered was excellent and cost about $40. For dessert, we had sorbet with fruit and Belgian waffle, which we shared. Both were well prepared and presented in a very attractive way. If I had any criticism, it would be that the service was a bit slow. Also, the staff, although very pleasant and welcoming, just missed a few things that they shouldn't have. For example, a large number of people have an aversion to cilantro, which does usually have a pretty strong flavor. This should not have been left out of the description of the dish. In addition, one of our friends ordered tea, but, when the teapot was brought out, it appeared to be cracked, and water leaked out all over the table. They replaced it, but given the size of the leak, they should have picked this up before bringing it to the table. This is basically a very nice restaurant, and I would definitely recommend it to people looking for this type of food and atmosphere, but the management might want to invest a little more time in training the staff. read more

Decided to try this place as opposed to the usual Freelance due to their outdoor seating. Big mistake. Sitting here writing this review feeling worse than I would have if I had eaten at McDonalds. First, I ordered the shrimp cocktail which ended up having a big piece of black hair on the shrimp. After I noticed the hair, I waited about 25 minutes without any server coming back to my table. Finally, my boyfriend caught the attention of one and they took it back as we asked. For an entree, I ordered the seared scallops and shrimp with snap peas and quinoa. No flavor to the snap peas definitely were previously frozen. The shrimp and scallops were eh. Overall, the best thing at our table was the fries. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! I got salmonella or some type of terrible reaction from undercooked chicken, violent vomiting, dizziness, sweats on the side of the highway about an hour after eating here. When I called the next day to speak to the owner or manager I was told I'd get a call back that night and never did. I looked online and you can get sick that fast, but when I finally talked to the ill-informed, unprofessional manager he disagreed, is he a doctor as well!?? They refused to refund my dinner amount that I paid stating that someone had to order the other half of the chicken I ate, and nobody else complained about an illness. How do I know that's true?? What if their half of the chicken was properly cooked, unlike mine. They consistently tried to blow me off in an unprofessional manner hoping I'd go away, very sad. I contacted the Health Department and I was informed later that they were cited for making salads with no gloves on so clearly cleanliness is not paramount. My husband and I were there last Saturday early evening. We chose to sit at the bar and have an early dinner. Bartender was very attentive and courteous. We had the coconut mussels with frites and a cold seafood salad both were delicious. This was our third time and we will keep coming back. Highly recommend it. read more

Our favorite date night location. They are consistently good and the staff is very accommodating. Today we were disappointed at our favorite place. We were basically ignored by our server. Husband ordered a Stella Artois and received some kind of ginger beer or strong ale in a pint glass. When we questioned it the server argued with us and said we were wrong he poured it himself. Trust me, it was NOT Stella. It was a family celebration and we spent much of the time waving our server down. Lobster risotto not great. Crab cakes and muscles were awesome. Recently retired and wanted to do a "retired thing" with my wife and decided on afternoon outdoor drinks and food in Piermont. Chose the Sidewalk Bistro and we were glad we did. Soooo relaxing and the food and drink were great. The pastry crust pizza was amazing (we had the bacon and onion based on other reviews) and it was tapas night and we both had a petite filet cooked perfectly medium rare. The Macroon dessert was also unique and delicious. Service was personable and perfect with Alyssa taking care of us and everyone else we encountered. This place is great for big events or casual dining. Had an amazing and delicious meal at the Sidewalk Bistro for a college graduation supper. The restaurant was incredibly accommodating, providing a private area for a party of 20. Pre-determined appetizers were brought to the table as soon as everyone had arrived, while drink orders were constantly being taken by the wait staff. Sal, our main waiter, was so quick, anticipated many of our needs, and was very patient with a group this big. He brought out our main dishes very promptly and all of our orders were correct and delicious! Can't wait to go back again. read more

Was here on Memorial Day with my girlfriend. The food was amazing, the service was perfect (attentive but gave you time and space to decide on your order). My girlfriend unfortunately started to not feel well before our food came out. The wait staff and bartender were very helpful in getting EMS to tend to her and after all was cleared got us another table and we were able to continue our meal. They took care of her as she was family and I couldn't be more pleased with how well they take care of their customers all around. Will definitely return here many times over. read more

Made a reservation and took my family for lunch on a Saturday. It was busy and the service was a little bit on the slower side. However, it was worth the wait. The bread basket arrived and it has some delicious bread and small croissants which were fantastic. We stared with the pate' and the cheese platter. It was enough food right there. Next, we ordered mussels- Provençal in wine and also a batch of the curry ones. They arrived steaming hot, perfectly cooked, and were delicious! The fries were also delicious. My husband and I used google maps and stumbled upon this unassuming gem. We usually would have gone to AlainsBistro but the app says it is permanetly closed. Much to our delight Sidewalk Bistro stayed true to bistro fare and executed it brilliantly. The Sauternes and Armagnac to complete the meal were affordable and exceptional. read more

This is hands down the BEST French spot in all of Rockland County. The mussels dish is my fave (poulette style). The steak tartare is AMAZING. Their backyard patio is a must visit - amazing atmosphere, fun lighting, and less hot and sunny than the sidewalk seating. Overpriced & small portions...not worth it... double standards for different customers......extremely arrogant brunette sidewalk waitress/server made us feel uncomfortable.
