I've been here 5 or 6 times. In my opinion, this is the place to go on a nice weeknight evening, to sit outside and people watch. There is an outdoor garden in the back of the restaurant, and about 20 tables on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. There is also inside a bar area (sitting at the bar to eat is popular and enjoyable) a dining area adjacent to the bar area, and a separate dining room on the other side of the restaurant that is nice for parties of 4 or 6.. A little quieter and less crazy The food is good to very good. French Bistro fare..., the service has been mixed, the ambiance pleasant. Going on a weekend evening has been much less satisfying in my opinion. Harried and untrained staff, and disorganized. I had two really poor experiences the first month the restaurant was open that skews my opinion. The kitchen excels and produces consistently good food but the service doesnt meet the kitchen's quality level. I go back, but always concerned that the service wont be very good. I've been eating here for years. After a year of absence I went back and was shocked the price increase, it's Piermont price and no longer "common peeps" joint. Food quality was still good, still perfectly done and portion seemed to stay the same. Sidewalk was good place to go in the summer, whether biking or hiking through the town and grab a bite / have a drink before heading back to the city. I think the concept still remains, but the price is just unjustifiable - I probably buy sandwitches from market across the street. Very saddening, but hey, if you live in Piermont you can afford that price, right!? read more

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday brunch in the garden. The bread was so delicious! The French toast with caramelized bananas was incredible. My daughter loved the fruit and cheese plate. The croissants tasted like Paris! The mimosa was perfect. Can't wait to return for dinner one night. read more

I had a very negative experience at this restaurant. Although the food was passable (my friend and I each ordered a pizzette), the service was on par with the worst I have ever experienced. Our server was extremely rude. She clearly ignored me intentionally at one point. The waitstaff looks like they are miserable, and make it their business to make the customer miserable also. To add insult to injury, on the day after my visit, I noted that the server had overcharged me by $72.00! I suggest passing on this restaurant. Try Freelance Cafe and Winebar several doors down. Here's an update on the situation: I called the Monday following my lunch at the sidewalk Bistro. The manager, Ben, stated that he would look into it and call me back. He has not. The overcharge is still on my credit card statement. I will call again tomorrow. read more

I had one of the pizzettes and it was excellent. Also a wedge salad which was a bit small but tasty. Service was good, drink order got a little mixed up but all in all this is a must stop if you are in the area. As so many people have mentioned the patio area in the rear is very enjoyable. This place stands in one of the most idyllic settings ever. On the main road going through Piermont, it beckons as "the" place to brunch on the weekend.. And while we were sweaty from biking, the menu and the thought of a nice drawnout lunch break before going back to Manhattan was sufficient to get our attention. Unlike many other places, there was nowhere to rack our bikes and as everyone else here was actually nicely dressed, we stood out in our biking gear. Having said that, they were very nice seating us at a prime table looking onto our bikes across the street. Manish went with the Eggs benedict, Jim with the Croque Monsieur and I went with the Croque Madame. It did take a while to get our orders but in the meantime, warm bread, butter and plenty of water was brought to the table. Service was good throughout the meal and while I've had better Croque Madames, for the price (~$11), service and atmosphere, it was quite reasonable (okay, I'm biased b/c I'm so used to Manhattan prices). All in all, I'd definitely stop here again on future bike rides. read more

I am extremely disappointed. I've heard the previous complaints about the cat seen outdoors. If you are allergic to cats you should not be eating in an outdoor area that is pet friendly. If I was the cats owner I would tell you this request is absurd considering it is an outdoor cat and this is its neighborhood. I will not be eating here anymore based on the manager's reply to this as I am a pet lover who comes with her dog to eat on a weekly basis. read more

After living in piermont for a few years, the back patio at sidewalk bistro is one that I look forward to enjoying each summer. However, last night was a different experience. I am allergic to cats (in addition to strongly disliking cats). Needless to say, after sitting down in the back patio area, I saw a cat wandering around (under tables, crawling between peoples legs, jumping up on ledges next to people eating). Not only did I find the stray cat unsanitary (!) as it was wandering around people eating dinner, as someone who isn't a cat person-it was simply not enjoyable. I did mention to the hostess about my allergy to the cat and she did offer to seat us inside. I should have asked for a manager as I was disgusted sitting back there. After watching the cat go between each table for a few minutes, we left before ordering. I am so disappointed. read more

I live in Nyack and ventured off to Piermnt to try Sidewalk Bistro. i was delighted by the menu choices and the ambiance of sitting on the sidewalk on Memorial day. The drinks were good and the food was also quite good. it was a drop slow coming out but you have to expect this on a holiday. all in all ok. i was really disturbed at the end of my main course. a man drove up on a bicycle. He was sweating profusely and wearing tight biker shorts and a white wife beater with a very low cut. he was rather heavy so it was not a pretty sight. After he wiped himself down with a rag, he asked to be seated and they put him right next to me and my wife. the sight was enough to lose your appetite but the smell closed the deal. We were in an elegant setting sorrounded by nicely dressed people and it was really offensive to have to put up with that. i know things are tough and it hurts to turm people away but i promise that the long term effect will be much greater that selling one more bowl of pasta (which is what he ordered) read more

Really nice little place with very friendly wait staff. Wonderful on a warm summer night to sit outside in their courtyard. One or two very healthy choices on the menu too for those watching calories, fat, ect. (ie; steamed cod entree). For fans of Piermont village, highly suggest trying this place. read more

Great setting, and good Saturday afternoon service. I enjoyed my Curry muscles and the Frisee + Lardon salad. My son said the pizza was just okay ... described the crust as a little tough (possibly pre-made and frozen), and my wife thought her cheese plate was very good, except for the Muenster cheese, which was boring relative to everything else. Bread and butter was good, and the croissants in the basket were delicious. Overall, we found it good, and we'd probably come back, but could have been better. read more

Nice little place in Piermont. Stopped in with my gf while walking around the Landing... Had a onion soup which was decent, she had fois gras which was actually really good. The margherita pizza was really good. Took everything down with a glass of Stella and a glass of white... Nothing to write home about, nothing to say bad, just a solid place to sit down. read more

Great Food, Nice Outdoor Areas We found Sidewalk Bistro after a walk around this picturesque small river town that seems to be, for some reason, "trying hard" to be a tourist destination. They definitely have the bicyclers' attention! There were quite a few bicycling groups zooming around, fully decked out - looks like a great town to bring the bike team. We arrived about 11 AM for breakfast. Very nice outdoor sidewalk section, as their name would suggest. Shortly after seating us a bread basket was brought with the menus (which reminds me: a little pricey). It was some time before a waiter arrived to take our drink and food orders. At that point, if you have anything to say to your waiter, say it! It's the last time you'll see him until he brings your check! (Later, we even had to call the bus person/food server from another table to get a coffee refill.) We each had a regular breakfast, one an omlette the other bacon & eggs, both accompanied by fried potatoes. All pretty standard fare, correctly made (including the coffee, a dark roast), little noteworthy, but we would definitely return. High points: The bread basket that was served after we sat down was a still warm baguette loaf with a great flavor, and the hot chocolate got good marks from the taster. read more

After having lunch here today with my daughter I feel compelled to write a review. So disappointed in this place, because the food is really good. The service - not so much. It started with initially getting ignored when we walked up. After getting a seat in the back garden the host never came back with the promised kids' menu. After a few minutes the manager realized it and brought us one along with some crayons, which was nice. I realized there was broken glass on the floor next to our table. My three year old is well behaved, so I wasn't too concerned about her being on the floor, but when she dropped a crayon twice, I got up and picked it up for her, so she wouldn't get cut. The manager came back after a while to take our order, because nobody else seemed to be responsible for us. We ordered the Mac'n'Cheese from the kids' menu (according to my daughter it was very good), and I got the fruit and cheese plate. Some of the grapes were old, but the rest was excellent. One of the bus boys bumped into my chair twice without apologizing. Nobody checked in on us. And we waited a long time until somebody was finally close enough for me to ask for the check. We left without anybody acknowledging us leaving. I don't know if it was just the two of us, or the fact that I brought a child with me. I cannot even say that the service was bad. It was more that we got the feeling of being a liability, and not very welcome. We're staying in Piermont for 17 days, and I usually test out the restaurants for lunch with my daughter, so we know where to bring daddy for dinner once he comes home from work. The food is awesome. A little pricy. But you get what you pay for. Best Caesar salad with chicken I have ever had. Of course they call it "Salade Romaine" just to be French. I especially like the fact that we rode our bikes up there and parked them across the street at the deli. Even though we were hot and sweaty and dressed for biking we fit right in. We went back for dinner a few weeks later (dressed a little nicer and less sweaty). I had the special. It was Grouper (one of my favorites anyway), I forget exactly how it was prepared but it was delicious! The table shared the muscles and everyone is still talking about them weeks later. The next time I go, I have my fingers crossed that the back deck will be accessible because everyone says its lovely back there. I highly recommend this place!! read more

Our PLATEAU DE CHARCUTEREwas fun with by the glass Pinot Noir. Both items exceeded our expectations. Service was attentive and kind. They care! We ordered from the Pre-Fix Menu on Sunday, besides the appetizer platters to stay in the budget. Salmon was ok, small portion, not much flavor as served with a flat jasmine rice and ratatouille. What ratatouille!... The burger was not well done, got some pinky parts that we cut out and left for noticing. Fries were FRENCH:) (Note for the KITCHEN = its standard to cook burgers well done to avoid salmonella risk) Try other good dishes on the menu. But to be fair, it was a pleasent experience overall! Came here for Mother's Day brunch. Pizza sauce was sweet and crust burnt. Overall pizza was tasty. Maryland benedict crab cakes were tiny and looked relatively unappetizing. The taste was drowned out in hollandaise sauce. Chicken was good. Ok Niçoise salad. Mussells were good. So was desert. Service was inattentive. Forgot to bring desert. Forgot to refill waters. Came here on a Saturday around 5:30 on labor day weekend, and sat outside with my boyfriend. The food was just OK..I first got the salad, which was described as greens with a dijon dressing. When it was sat down in front of me, it was incredibly disappointing.. it was just greens with two cherry tomatoes sliced in half on the corners of the plate....the flavor of the dressing was barely there, so basically it was just an appetizer of lettuce, and it was horrible. It was not at all worth $7 with the lack of flavor and veggies! Why didn't I tell my waitress about this lackluster salad? Well, her and the rest of the staff just got their paychecks, and apparently decided to have a little staff meeting outside right in the middle where the hostess stand is. I didn't see her again for a while, until she finally brought our dinner out. I ordered the vegetable rissoto, and it was great. I would have washed it down with another glass of prosecco, but still the waitress wasn't around. We left after that and I don't plan on ever going back. read more

I asked if we could sit outside on a table on the sidewalk until they opened because she can't walk or stand too long. They refused to allow us to sit and wait. Got food poisoning from this place, employees, particularly the food handlers and the waiters, do not wear gloves and touch various surfaces without disinfecting. Food and service were terrible. Will not go back. In this time of COVID these are things that must not be ignored or overlooked. I guess everyone was super hungover from the Bastille Day Celebrations yesterday, but that is no excuse for the horrible experience we had today: We were first seated inside and the smell of bad fish was permeating the entire Dining Room. Thankfully we were able to move outside. Not sure why the Bus Boy who filled our waters gave my Wife a Kids' cup, but we got sat outside and it was kinda nice to be away from what smelled like a rotten piece of fish... My Son didn't finish his Burger, My Wife struggled through her overpriced Niçoise Salad and I burped up garlic for 3 hours after eating my Escargot. What really bummed me out was the stale, tiny white bread that was served to me for my Croque Monsieur. The sandwich was $15 and the size of a small deck of Playing Cards. Good job messing up a French staple. My Hennepin was the best thing I had... If the whole meal didn't cost $90 after tip, I wouldn't be here writing this review. This place was discovered as my wife and I were actually trying to find another restaurant. When we saw the number of diners eating outside and the eclectric crowd (mostly locals), we decided to try the place. We were pleasantly surprised! The quality, freshness, and taste of the food is outstanding. They have in indoor courtyard which is must see (and be seen) place. Most of the people I saw were having the mussels. My wife had the salmon which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I had a large appetizer plate of various meats and cheese which went very well with the house wine. I highly recommed this place if you are with friends (or want to meet new ones) or just hanging out. A great find! read more

Wonderful service, intimate atmosphere and some of the best mussels I've had in a long time. I didn't want fries with my mussels, so they let me substitute spinach instead. Added plus: Zinfandel by the glass. We weren't rushed even though they were probably short on seating. (It was raining, so the back garden was not open.). This is one of my new favorites! A hidden gem in Piermont. Food is fantastic! I had the mussels which are offered in 3 different broths (I tried all 3 on different occasions). I recently had codfish.
