This was exactly what I was looking for! You stepped out into the French countryside with beautiful lights, tables, trees, and a bar. We felt welcomed from the moment we stepped into the restaurant to the moment we closed the bar down! We had the mussels with chorizo and a pizza which were both fantastic! Did I mention the bread!! Celebrated a HS graduation. Wonderful terrace restaurant. The (adult) cocktails were fun and creative. The food was mostly amazing - They did a wonderful job on the 4 of 5 dinners. The $23 kobe beef burger however was burnt on the outside though perfectly done on the outside. The desserts were wonderful but the cappuccinos were cold. Overall, we'd go again, but be careful about what we order! Normally we would have reordered the poorer items but with a celebration, didn't want to taint the event. we came here with friends the other day. didn't realize it had new owners and name now bistro. Wonderful table out on the sidewalk. Didnt ask if the out side patio in back is open. Hope it is. Great new menu for our lunch. friendly, efficient staff. Friend had new pizza, my wife had omelet, i had Croque monsieur...nice, slightly over cooked, but nice. My wife asked for no fries with her omelet, waitress suggested bread or salad instead. She picked bread which was a nice little basket. But we didn't realize that there would be a $3 charge for the bread. No so nice. Wines list was good. Hope they bring back the Wednesday night, bring your own as the cafe did. I have gone here quite a few times during the warmer time of the year. They have an amazing outdoor sitting area that is unmatched by any restaurant that I have been to. An excellent place for a romantic date as well. Food is always good and the dishes are quite unique. The prices are a bit higher than a normal restaurant, but it's a fair price for "fancy". This place opened in 2008 with sidewalk, inside or outdoor backyard garden seating, weather permitting. I have been here at least 7 times over the past year for very enjoyable dining experiences both inside and outside so I will continue to return. On my first visit I met with owner Mr. Daout Celestin and his dedicated staff at this hidden gem, with a little slice of Paris. It seems Daout is always on hand and his staff seem to be real family like. We frequently have the same wait staff. We asked for his recommendation of a red wine and he recommended a very reasonably priced 2010 Sawbuck Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendocino County. My appetizer was spectacular tuna and salmon tartar My friend and I both ordered the duck confit medium rare (per chef's recommendation) and it was spectacular. The cuisine is french. My best friend was in town from Italy so we decided to go there because Piermont has such a beautiful "All American Small Town" ambiance and it's by the Hudson. The wine selection was wonderful and the wait staff was fantastic. They were attentive and friendly and knew their stuff about the menu, specials and the wines. We were there on a week night catching up and were out til well after midnight but I would most certainly go back again. They have a patio set up in the back with a full bar which is great in the summer however, it's winter. Once it warns up I'll be back over there on the patio with yet another review on how that goes! read more

The waiters were friendly and the outdoor seating area is very pretty. Unfortunately the food was terrible. We ordered the escargot and mussels as appetizers, and the shrimp and scallop and steak as mains. The escargot was overly salty, the some of the mussels still had grit although the flavor for both was decent enough. The shrimp was incredibly over cooked, while the scallops were slightly under. I'm actually surprised this restaurant doesn't have better reviews because I'm very critical and this was an easy 5 Star for me. Their food is incredible. I ordered the mussels entree which was massive and very filling. Thick mussels too. My mother ordered the seared tuna that was prepared perfectly (we hate when seared tuna is over cooked). Their sangria was actually super refreshing also. A lot of fresh fruit in their sangria which I prefer over fruit soaking in wine for days. The service was fantastic and the gentleman always filled up our water glasses even when the restaurant was busy. Lastly, I love when restaurants toast their table bread. July 2019, came here with friends for lunch and sat in the backyard that was large with plenty of seating, and shade, with a nice bar. The food and service was great, with prices that are reasonable. We shared the Lobster Risotto, and the Mussels that came with a Bread Basket. They gave you a nice size portion of the Lobster Claw onto of the Risotto, and the Mussels had a nice Butter tasting broth. We past this restaurant many times when visiting Piermont and never realized there was beautiful outdoor seating in the back. We will remember this next time we are in the area to come here to eat. read more

Inside, outside, on the sidewalk or on the back patio or even sitting at the bar, the food is excellent and always a nice vibe. It is really my favorite Rockland spot. I'm hard pressed for anything negative but I have to admit I was a little disappointed with the fact they started charging $ 2.50 for serving you bread; this only started post covid and it detracts just a little bit from an otherwise outstanding experience. Daout, the owner, is always available to add his charm to the ambiance of the restaurant and to make sure that every detail is meticulously addressed. The food is consistently (to me, the mark of a great restaurant) fresh and well prepared. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating. The back seating area speaks of the French, and European, open-air cafes while the food and wines selections are varied and reasonably priced. We were driving though Piermont before a drive home back to Boston. On the suggestion of the proprietor of the local wine shop, we ate at the Sidewalk Bistro. I will get to why I gave this only 1 star near the end of the review because the reason I am giving it 1 star happened at the end of the meal. We ate out back where they have a nice little garden-ish area for outside seating. It wasn't all that crowded and we were seated next to a family of French tourists. Three generations, including two little kids. I was afraid that the kids would be loud and unruly, but my girlfriend pointed out that French kids are generally polite and quiet because their parents "break them" and stifle the creative thoughts and actions that make American kids little a$$holes. We order a pizza and a chicken paninni. Both were pretty good. My girlfriend had a glass of sauv blanc and I had a fountain Coke which was awesome. (lots of tiny bubbles and the right amount of syrup) Near the end of the meal, the waiter brought my 2nd Coke over to the table, I drank a little and poured a little into my girlfriend's diet Coke glass as she like to mix her beverages. I then took a sip. What ended up in my mouth? A dead yellow jacket. Now, I just got the glass of coke, so I know it didn't fly into my glass at the table and drown. It was dead when he put the ice and Coke in my glass. I understand that these things happen, I'm sitting outside, that is the price I pay. It skeeved me out a bit but it didn't ruin the meal. It was how the waiter handled it that disappointed me. The bee was still dead and stuck to the lip of the glass when the waited came back over. (I have included a picture of the bee) I pointed out that bee was in my Coke. His response....to slowly back away from our table without saying a word. I thought that he was going to do something, remove the 2nd Coke from the bill, come back and say sorry, bring me a new Coke. He came back 3 minutes later with our bill with out saying a word and left it on the table and walked away. The 2nd Bee Coke was still on the bill. I know I could have gone to the manager and said something, but I felt that I already brought it to the attention of the waiter. I did my job, I brought it to the attention of an employee of the restaurant. The bee didn't ruin the meal, the response of the waiter ruined the meal. In conclusion, French children are delightful. I don't see an email address for them anywhere or else I would have sent them an email about the service. read more

We ate here on Saturday during the Bastille Day celebration. It was very good! We sat out on the sidewalk, so we could people watch during the festivities. Service was very good. No complaints. One thing I will say is that I wish we had chosen to eat out back in the garden. It is so charming! We didn't see it until we were ready to leave, and I went out to take a peak. So I would recommend on a nice summer day to sit out back. Plus it was adorably decorated for the celebration, as were the staff. The food was good! The menu was an abbreviated one compared to a regular day. We had the MOULES POULETTE (Moules de Marie Antoinette), which was very good. To start things we had the lobster with avocade, which was excellent. Yummy. I think they jack up the prices a bit for the celebration, but I guess everyone in town did. Overall, I recommend this place if you are look for some French cuisine. read more

Nestled in probably the most pretentious town in NY, The Sidewalk Bistro was a decent place to stop off during a bike trip through 9W. We were looking for a place to get off our feet and relax and the Sidewalk bistro caught our eye immediately. There was a bike rack right across the street so we were able to leave our bikes while keeping a watchful eye, but it probably wasn't necessary to. We sat down and looked over the menu, but it was a good 15 minutes before we saw the well needed glasses of water on our table. I decided on a burger. The burger was pretty good, but $14 for a burger and some fries is a bit much, even by nyc standards. I wasn't really thinking and asked for the burger medium rare, and it was pretty bloody in the middle. I wasn't looking to eat the entire thing after a long bike ride (and with another 18 miles to go), so i just ate around the really bloody parts. The burger itself was pretty tasty, and i enjoyed the thin cut fries, but they were nothing to go crazy over. I probably would have been better off at the market deli across the street, but if you're looking for a quick bite to eat with plenty of outdoor seating you might want to consider this place. read more

Be prepared to wait.... Decor/Atmosphere **** Although we could not get a table in the back garden I took a walk back there and it is stunning. The rest of the place is nondescript, out back is where you want to be. Quick tip, there is a bar out back which is nicer than the inside. Service ** Due to its popularity everyone seems overwhelmed and things move at a glacial pace. The hostess originally told us a 40 minute wait for 2 when we arrived at 7:00 (they don't take reservations under 6 ppl). We spent a half hour walking around the quaint town and returned to the bar. By 8:00 we were getting hungry but upon checking with the hostess we were told it would be another 40 minutes. She explained that it was such a nice evening that no one was getting up which I understood. So I grabbed a menu to order some appetizers at the bar. Unable to get the bartenders attention for 10 minutes suddenly the hostess appeared and said she had a table ready. Not sure how this happened but I know we were sat in front of others and saw one person complain when we sat. Other hiccups, I asked the waitress to not include asparagus in my dish and she very attentively asked if I would like a dish spicy after overhearing me say I love spicy food. My dish appeared with asparagus and lacking in spice. Food **** I am going to slightly overrate the food. Good not great but prepared well and attractively presented. I will leave out the specifics as I have confidence that anything on the menu would be good . Value *** $125 for two people, ehh. Maybe a little pricy but within expectations. Wine is a better deal than mixed drinks. $8 for a tiny gin & tonic vs $10 for a filled nearly to the rim glass of wine. Overall **** Again I will slightly overrate as I am sure on a less hectic night things would go much smoother. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves which is what counts in the end. read more

We stopped by and grabbed a table outside. It was a gorgeous night! My girlfriend skipped the appetizer but I gave the onion soup a shot. It was ok. Nothing great but I'm a bit of an onion soup snob so take that for what it's worth. For dinner, she had the sea bass special which was very good. A little overdone but good all the same. I chose the vegetable risotto, a far cry from the steaks and chops I adore. It was very good, the risotto was cooked perfectly, creamy and smooth. The menu overall had some great choices and I would definitely go back. Especially now that I know about the garden seating in the back. One last but important review, the staff. 3.5/5 for me here We popped in here later on a Friday night around 9pm or so and found this place comfortably full. The bar was lively with people watching some sports games and the dining room around the corner was half full. The casual atmosphere allowed for us to enjoy some good conversation without having to shout and the service here was friendly throughout our dining experience. Getting to the food, we started with the simple mussels dishes that had some excellent garlic flavors, were cooked well and allowed for some perfect bread dipping at the end. For our mains we tried the burger that was cooked to order and good, the special pork chops with some veggies that were a bit smaller than I had hoped and the nicoise salad that was ok. For sweets we tried the profiteroles that were split in half and had some generous ice cream portions in between that was light and hit the sweet tooth. Overall, after some tea and espresso to wrap the meal up with tax and tip, I thought it was fairly priced. I had the capricciosa pizza for brunch, which was decent. Nothing spectacular, and the crust itself was a bit hard and not really edible. It was a rainy night and we wanted to grab a quick but nice dinner while watching the hockey playoff game. It was our first meal in the neighborhood where we are moving to in a few months. We decided to give this place a try. We walked in and were greeted immediately by the staff, and opted for a seat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and kind. He welcomed us to the neighborhood and even introduced us to some of our new neighbors. We ordered the duck over lentils to start and kobe beef burgers. I had a glass of nice Cabernet and there were some interesting beers on tap, so my fiancee had the Watermelon beer by Coney Island (delish!). The duck was really tasty - perfect flavors and cooked just right. The lentils were a great combo with the sauce and there were tender pieces of duck in the lentil 'hash' too! Really glad we tried that, it was on their tapas menu. The kobe beef burgers were cooked well and tasted great, needed a touch of salt but that is fine with me - I would rather have not enough salt than something be too salty. Fries were amazing as well. Decided to give them a try off a recommendation. They have a nice patio area in the back but it was too humid to sit out there. As for the food, pretty good but could use some tweaks. First off, our bread was not warm and the butter was rock hard. It literally ripped the bread. Why is soft butter so often overlooked? Le sigh I got the Croque Madame. For $11 it was a little on the smaller side but surprisingly filled me up. While it was delicious, I had two problems with the dish. First my sunny side egg was completely overcooked and instead of a runny yolk oozing all over the sandwich it was just a hockey puck. It was a major let down and really took away from my meal. Second, the chicken egg was super small that didn't even cover the entire sandwich but was $1.50 extra. It is really hard to justify the price of the chicken egg. Maybe if it was a quail egg I would not have minded. They are at a 3.5 in my book. I didn't specify anything; I ordered the Croque Madame. Your menu states "Cooked ham and Gruyère cheese sandwich with Béchamel sauce, topped with a sunny side egg, salad and french fries". Not sure if you communicated incorrectly in your response or don't know your own menu or what but a sunny side egg has a runny yolk-- that's the only way it can be cooked. I will definitely be back as I thought the food was solid but needed some tweaks. I will update my review.
