I've never experienced such a chewy bagel in my life. WAY WAY too dense. We thought we were getting fresh bagels but maybe these were sitting around for a day? Even though she got them from the fresh open bagel area. I have no idea why people think these bagels are amazing. When we heard they were epic, we ordered 12... Now we're looking at them like ugh we have to eat these not to let them go to waste. Even tried toasting them and still super chewy. Maybe they changed their recipe? I recommend trying elsewhere to compare or just to try new and see. So far, these are nothing special. read more

I love yo the block and come here very often... i am a nurse and stop by after my night shift and always stand in a long line of intoxicated children to order the same two bagels each time. Tonight a Filipino looking long haired waiter took my order, then after waiting patiently for 35 long minutes and my order was wrong, proceeded to tell me that I had ordered something completely different that what I had said. He even yelled "you didn't order two!!" Like I order the same thing every night, and even if u heard me wrong you should attempt to rectify the problem, no?!?Like I said, I order the same thing each time; he didn't even try to rectify the problem, he just proceeded to yell "you said 1lox salmon!!" And wouldn't even attempt to rectify the issue. Guests were staining and appalled by his behavior, and when I went to the till to try to pay for what I had initially ordered the long haired man said that he no longer wanted to serve me. The costumer next in line walked out. I have been coming here for years... I will never be back. This man should not be in any sort of costumer service position; he clearly hates his job. I had the lox bagel with onions, cream cheese and capers on a sesame seed bagel. The bagel was very soft and fresh, there wasn't an excessive amount of cream cheese, the salmon was fantastic, and the onions and capers add a nice pop of flavor. Not cheap at $10 and on the smaller side, but was a fantastic sandwich nonetheless. Definitely worth getting again, and I'd like to try their Montreal smoked meat bagel sandwich as well. read more

Yes the place has history, great as far as Bagels go but $13 for a bagel is just not reasonable, it feels like price gauging, it makes the experience less pleasurable, you have four bites and it's over, you can have a proper meal in most restaurants for that amount and for that reason I give them 3 stars otherwise everyone should try this place at some point. read more

The standout here is the rosemary rock salt bagel. It's just ridiculously delicious (especially if you happen to love rosemary and salt, which I do). I have to give this place a 3 for the bagels. The bagels are incredibly good - fresh - warm and with a delicious sweetness. We only bought a half dozen of different ones, so I cant comment on the cream cheese, or anything other than the bagels themselves. I can also comment on the service though- dreadful. The type of service where the person is looking through you, never making eye contact, no smiles, incredibly clinical and impersonal - the antithesis of what customer service is. Amazing lox and cream cheese! Located in the Granville Public Market, this place is a must go. As recommended by a fellow Yelper, I tried their lox and cream cheese on their rosemary and rock salt bagel. Absolute perfection! I come to Siegel's Bagels for one thing only: Stuffed Smoked Meat Bagel. For $4.95, they pack these bagels good with delicious cured meat shipped directly from Montreal. And they didn't skim on the meat either. Every bite of this bagel tastes like pure ambrosia. All it needs is some mustard for a little kick. This is their 2nd location (the main shop is on Cornwall), and I have found the quality to be much less consistent here. The Cornwall location is the place to get their best product. "Mostly gluten free" is the most asinine term I've heard in a long time. It's either gluten free or it's got gluten in it. Also, if your sign says gluten free, people are going to assume it's ACTUALLY gluten free. And get violently ill because your "gluten free" isn't!!! Malted barley contains gluten. read more

My favourite place for bagels! They have a good assortment of bagels that are baked fresh daily. The prices are great, and the staff are always really friendly and helpful! They are a little bit pricier than what you get at the supermarket but you can definitely see the difference in quality and taste. Make sure you try some of the baked goods and take a container of the delicious salmon cream cheese home! Don't forget to ask for a stamp card. :) read more

Seriously? These bagels are not very good. Besides the fact that they're on the smallish side with a big hole, these bagels were stale. On top of that, service was slow and indifferent. The lox was tasty I guess, but not any more or less special than anywhere else on Granville Island or Vancouver. This is my favorite bagel place. Every visit to Granville island I have to get one of their bagels. My favourite is the rosemary sea salt bagel with veggie spread, but I also like getting the pretzel bagel or a fruity bagel as alternates. Highly recommend! If you get something here, definitely get one of the bagels with their smoked meats. I really enjoyed the montreal smoked meat. The bagels themselves, though, were not excellent. I found the ones we had to be small and they didn't have that fresh, warm taste you'd expect from buying bagels from a bagel place.
