Located inside of the Granville Island Public Market, Siegel's Bagels do pretty good bagels and smear. We went around 10ish on a weekday and there was still a line. The bagels are warm and crisp, and paired with the salmon cream cheese is the perfect breakfast (or lunch, or dinner!) They have many bagels to choose from, but if you're indecisive like me, stick with the everything bagel - it has everything!

Siegel's Bagels was high on my short list of must-tries while visiting the Granville Island Public Market and is one of those classic market stops. They've been around since 1990 and are known for their Montreal-style bagels and smoked meat, with bagels baked in a traditional flame oven using fresh ingredients. We arrived late in the day, near closing so by the time we got there, they had already sold out of a few bagel varieties. You can keep it simple and order bagels and flavored cream cheeses, or go for deli items and full sandwiches featuring Montreal smoked meat. I went with the regular Montreal smoked meat sandwich. It didn't take long to prepare, and we took our food over to the market's dining area. The portion was generous and came with a pickle on the side. The bagel itself tasted fairly standard to me--though to be fair, it was the end of the day--but the smoked meat was the real highlight: moist, tender, and full of flavor. That's the part I kept going back to bite after bite. Overall, I'm glad we stopped by. It's an easy, satisfying market meal and a great way to try a bit of Montreal-style deli culture in Vancouver. Next time, I'd definitely go earlier in the day for the full selection.

An authentic Montreal bagel! Get it with cream cheese for a meal or without as an on the go snack! I like multigrain the best. Lines can get long!

Was visiting Vancouver for a weekend so of course we have to visit Granville Island Public Market to see the abundance of food options! We were walking around the market and this bagel place really caught my eye as they have a variety of cool bagel flavors that I haven't seen in the states like Rosemary Rocksalt and Sundried Tomato. We got the one of the lox bagels. This is my second time trying bagels in Canada and I still really like that their bagel is too heavy or doughy like the ones in NYC. The thinner bagel combined with the smoked salmon and cheese was in great proportion and really made it a delicious item to eat without feeling stuffed. Since this location is conveniently located inside the market, you can eat the bagel along the waterfront or at other public seatings they have inside the market. Love the ambiance at the market. Service is quick and good.

My cousin told me this bagel place was very popular here in Vancouver. So of course I had to try one. I decided on the jalapeño bagel. It was good. The shell was chewy and had a crunch to it and it had a good kick too. I wish they had a cheddar jalapeño though. But worth a try for sure.

I read a travel blog before visiting Vancouver and they specifically called out Siegel's Bagels at the Granville Public Market. I guess I had high hopes because of how the bloggers raved in their article. We arrived at Siegel's on a Sunday morning and the line was pretty long - at least 15, possibly more, people. We opted to try the breakfast bagel and asked what the smoked meat was. The staff informed us that it was beef, but that is all they said. I really didn't love the combination of egg, smoked beef, and green bell pepper. I also didn't appreciate how light the toppings were. There was one small sliver of tomato, two thin slivers of bell pepper, an egg, and a thin slice of smoked beef. The sandwich really wasn't filling, and I didn't feel it was very nutritious either. The bagel alone had great flavor and texture - it wasn't thick and hard like many other bagels tend to be. It was quite soft and squished down pretty nice when taking a bite. I'm not sure I would return to Siegel's Bagels, but if I did, I would probably just opt for a bagel and cream cheese maybe with Lox/salmon, but I don't think I would try another sandwich.

When in Vancouver, you have to make a trip to Granville Island Public Market. I was hunting through the aisles looking for something to eat and some fresh bagels immediately caught my eye. On my first trip to Vancouver, I also had a lox cream cheese bagel. With that core memory in mind, I was determined to relive my quintessential Canadian experience. - Lox & Cream Cheese Bagel -- warm Montreal-style bagel, thick layer of salmon cushioned between cream cheese, finished with capers; rich, buttery, and the perfect lox-to-cream-cheese ratio Siegel's specializes in Montreal-style bagels, which differ from NYC bagels: they're boiled in honey water, baked in a wood-fired oven, slightly sweeter, and have a larger center hole with that soft-chewy inside and gently crisp exterior. There was a short line of others eyeing the fresh bagels, and you can watch them rolling dough right behind the counter. Service was quick and friendly--I got my bagel in under 5 minutes. Since Siegel's is located in the middle of Granville Island Public Market, you can grab your bagel and enjoy it right along the waterfront. The ambience inside is busy and bustling, but the moment you step out, the skyline views over the water are spectacular. A perfect snack paired with a perfect Vancouver moment.

Siegel's makes a delicious bagel! The service was very quick, even though they were extremely busy. I ordered the rosemary rocksalt with chipotle lime cream cheese. The bagel was flavourful and has a nice crisp texture. The cream cheese was tasty and had a good amount of heat. I will be back to try more bagel/cream cheese combinations!

I fell in love with Montreal-style bagels during a trip last year, and I've been hooked ever since! So I was thrilled to find Siegel's Bagels during our visit to Granville Market. One bite of the sundried tomato bagel with creme cheese and I knew I had to get more. Since I was flying back to LA the next day, I grabbed a dozen day-old bagels to bring home--6 sesame and 6 everything. Perfect for freezing and toasting later (just make sure to slice them first!). My husband couldn't resist the smoked meat sandwich and polished it off in no time. These bagels are the real deal--chewy, flavorful, and totally worth the carry-on space.

My friend and I came around 1PM on a Monday; although there was a line, it went by very quick. We ordered an Everything Bagel with Garlic Chive and another with Sun-Dried Tomato. Both cream cheeses were alright and not especially good. Bagel was on the denser and smaller side. Overall, indeed just an OK bagel spot.

Love these Montreal Style bagels. Smaller, crispier and denser than the New York bagels that I'm used to. Quick service and great options here. I had to go with the Salmon and Lox on an Everything bagel. I highly recommend it.

Siegels is one of the best bagels I've had in a while. The open kitchen, large oven is a show stopper. We ordered a rosemary bagel with Montreal beef. A little on the smaller side but 5/5 quality and flavour. Long line, worth it.

We were so impressed with the staff at L'atelier. They know their stuff and their recommendations are top notch. The bakery itself is so cute and modern and fun. Unfortunately, this one was a bit disappointing. The interior was overly moist, the caramelized crust lacked the crispness I was hoping for, and the honeycomb structure wasn't very well developed. Overall, it was just average. We also ordered the Strawberry Pistachio Tart. The strawberries were fresh with a nice balance of sweetness, and there was a good amount of pistachio chunks. However, it lacked the layers of flavor that make a tart memorable. On the bright side, the coffee was excellent and easily my favorite part of the visit. I'd happily come back for a coffee, but I'd probably try different pastries next time.

Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.
