This is my first negative review and I'm sorry it has to come from Fabio's restaurant. My wife and I were incredibly excited to eat here and we were really disappointed. First, the service was great. We had a reservation at 7, arrived 15 minutes early and was asked if we would like to sit inside or outside. We chose outside. Our server was incredibly attentive, and the rest of the team were by several times to check on us. We had two cocktails, the Oaxacan Punch and the No. 2. They're very expensive for $15 a piece, but they did taste great. But overpriced. We had the Wagyu Meatball for our appetizer. The sauce and meatball itself was delicious. However, they have no other wagyu course on their entire menu, so I REALLY doubt it's real wagyu to justify the $22 price. My wife got the gnocchi and I got the squid ink linguine. The gnocchi was perfection. They were pillowy soft with truffle shavings and were absolutely delicious. My squid ink linguine however was almost inedible. The lobster claw meat was overcooked and had the texture of rubber. The actual linguine was really overcooked and was completely mush for texture. Not even close to being al dente. The lobster tail was cooked nicely and the sauce had a nice flavor. We also got the garlic mashed potatoes for a side and those were delicious. For dessert we had 4 flights of sorbet and gelato. Blood orange, mango, s'mores, and salted caramel. The sorbets both had ice crystals in them and weren't as smooth as they should have been. They both had good flavor though. The s'mores gelato was very good. The salted caramel had no salt flavor to it and tasted like fake sugar. The flambé was done tableside and the actual marshmallow flambé was delicious. The lemon bars however were very dense and heavy. We couldn't break them apart with our spoons and had to pick them up with our hands to eat it. We got an order of tiramisu to go and ate it at our hotel room later that night. We did get it to go so maybe it is better fresh at the restaurant, but it was incredibly bland. Got no espresso flavor whatsoever from it. Our bill total came out to a little over $200 after tip. Maybe we caught them on a bad night, but not worth it at all. Food quality overall was incredibly disappointing. Would give 2.5 stars if I could, wasn't so and to deserve 2, so I'll round up and give it 3. read more

The only thing missing was Fabio. I appreciate good Italian restaurant, especially when it's surrounded by a beautiful environment. Siena has a large oval bar, large heavy wooden doors strategically placed as dividers to offer privacy and lovely comfortable booths to settle into and have a memorable meal. I travel to Chicago a good bit for work, and to me, a perk is being able to explore the Chicago food scene. On this trip, a colleague suggested we check out Siena for some epic Italian, so we made a reservation and then made our way to this highly sought after foodie paradise. The menu is interesting. There's a good variety, but don't think you're going to come here to have a steak and potato. Unless you're willing to shell out $90 for a porterhouse steak, you're out of luck. But there are plenty of other options. For appetizers we choose the meatball, which is aptly named--it literally is a giant meatball. We also ordered the grilled octopus in lemon and these puffs made with Choux pastry (think savory cream puff) served with burrata, prosciutto and a green chutney-style sauce. The meatball was super tender and tasty. The octopus was off the charts! If I could have eaten the whole app by myself, I would have...it was that good. The puffs were good, but nothing special. I was traveling with a colleague who had allergies. They accommodated his diet, allowing him to create a custom pizza, which he seemed to enjoy. My other colleague ordered a lobster spaghetti. She liked it, but it must have been rich because she barely ate it. I ordered the short rib ravioli. The meat filling was tasty, but the pasta could have used a little more time in the pan. The pasta had a doughy, chewy taste, so I ended up eating the stuffing. I know, I know...you're thinking al dente, but this wasn't al dente; they just weren't cooked long enough. I really didn't have room for dessert, but okay, let's try the tiramisu. It was huge! It was also really, really good. It came with these awesome coffee meringues. I could have just eaten a pile of them for dessert. For drinks we ordered a red wine from Sardinia. What a great wine list. The wine was super and not horribly priced. While I didn't have a cocktail, they had some really interesting selections. I'm really happy we tried Siena. Can't wait to visit again so I can have the octopus and tiramisu. read more

We came here for our last Chicago meal, and so so glad we did. The decor was very nice, and intimate and this place was bustling for a Sunday evening. We ended up coming here by chance, and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. For appetizers, we did the Grilled Octopus, and the Watermelon Prosciutto salad. Octopus was tender and had a balsamic type sauce with potatoes-very satisfying. The watermelon and prosciutto, also a winner with pistachios, mint, honey, feta, and a creamy yogurt sauce. Everything about this worked so well together. For entrees we shared a steak and a cacio e pepe. The steak was cooked a perfect medium with some truffle butter and a head of roasted garlic that only accentuated but didn't overpower the meat, and the cacio e pepe was cooked al dente and was so simple and delicious. You could taste all the different elements of the dish separately but then they came together in the most perfect way! My only regret is not having come here earlier in the trip because if we had, we would've definitely come back! read more

1 star for yummy food. 1 star for attentive service. The disconnected ambience of this restaurant made it a disappointing place for a nice dinner out. We came here for my birthday and were seated in an area that has no business being used for dinner service. Other than a tiny candle on the table, there was zero light. Nothin. Because of this and the dark tables and plates, we had no clue what we were eating. The nice server couldn't make her way to us to have a conversation about the food due to the way the tables were placed, 4 high top tables smooshed together in a concave rounded formation. It was very loud and dark, and she couldn't really approach us, so we just loudly asked for cocktails and pointed at menu items, and that was pretty much the extent of our conversations. In addition to this, my specific booth seat was centered over a crack in the booth cushion. Imagine 2 mattresses pushed together and you get to sleep in the middle of the crack. I had to sit on my coat the entire time. There is a nice dining room that looks very comfortable and lit. I stared at it from afar, feeling as though I was in a different place entirely than those in the dining room. THIS is where your dinner should be served. If you're looking for a club environment for cocktails, this is a great place. But if you're a foodie and want to spend some money on a new dining experience, be aware that you may or may not get that. There's a good chance that you could have the experience I described above. The black currant was perfect adding that sweet flavor that goes perfectly with cheese the black garlic added this funky savoriness was one of the best cheese plates i ever had just put more of the sauces. The actual truffle didnt have the decadent flavor you expect so was disappointed about that Octopus is $19: really tasty octopus was tender and really flavorful loved the chips for crunch the sauce was really flavorful just was really soupy make it thicker. Loved the chiles for heat. Just wish there were better components that complimented the octopus like the celery was not necessary Coccoli $18 (meet and cheese board) really was a unique dish. The fried dough was amazing it was crunchy and really light picture a savory beignet. The cheese was amazing just put more. Loved the basil sauce for freshness. The truffle honey was amazing just put more. Gnocchi: didnt really care for it. It was lukewarm and the gnocci was really mushy. There wasnt enough truffle flavor like didnt taste it at all panchatta was hard n tasted old. It was also really oily the sage flavor didnt come through all i tasted was cream n oil Lobster risotto:didnt like this. not enough truffle flavor like couldnt taste any truffle at all. risotto wasnt flavorful it needed seasoning badly but it was done properly. There was a lot of lobster but the Lobster was overcooked. truffle Steak: this wasnt good. The steak wasnt seasoned and was lukewarm. The cauliflower lacked seasoning n had no truffle flavor. There wasnt enough sauce to make a difference but the little sauce that there was wasn't flavorful. potoatoes werent that crispy would have loved fries instead for crunch n they lacked seasoning. Pappardelle: didnt like this at all. The pasta was overcooked. It tasted like a really basic tomato sauce. There was a lot of weird herbs that made the dish unpleasant. Just wasnt a good dish Lasagna: this was one of the worst lasagnas i ever had. It had the same basic tomato sauce like the parpardelle had. Had another great meal here tonight. Our waiter recommend the coccoli for a starter, and it was incredible! Warm fried balls of dough served with proscuitto, stracchino cheese, and honey truffle. Tell me that doesn't sound amazing. Also ordered the no. 2 cocktail (grey goose, blueberry lavender, lemon, peach, prosecco, bitters). They're dangerous, could have easily drank several of these. For our entrees, we got the gnocchi and half truffle mushroom/half burnt pepperoni pizza. I'm obsessed with the gnocchi. Last time my friend ordered it and I knew I had to come back for it. It's super fluffy and creamy, literally melts in your mouth. The pizza was pretty good. Between the two, we liked the truffle one a bit more. Wish we had room for dessert! Good spot for drinks with a date or to come with a group of friends. The atmosphere is on the louder side (probably because it was a Friday night too). Service was mediocre for us this time. We stopped in here for a last minute lunch on Sunday and we're so glad that Yelp told us to do so! The reviews were great, but the menu was really what drew us in. We showed up and got a table inside right away. Our waitress was awesome and gave us a rundown of all the best items on the menu. We decided on the highly recommended burger, a delicious spicy spaghetti meal that was actually off-menu, the avocado toast and the shaved Brussel sprout salad. Everyone loved their meal with literally no complaints. We ate it all (a very clean plate club). I wish we lived closer so we could come here more often and try everything. But for now, we'll just enjoy the memory of a delicious meal. read more

Love Sienna Tavern . Left Chicago two years ago and back for the first time . Although the city is coming out of COVID , you can see the Devastation to the business . What an amazing experience. I can't recommend this lively, delicious place more. The service was superb; from our attentive server Riley, who made sure to check in at every course with an authentic inquiry, to the manager Ivan who wanted to make sure that our Open Table reservation was noted so that we'd get our points, we couldn't have been better taken care of. The first course of warm fluffy dough balls with prosciutto, burrata and honey was a yummy and delicious surprise. The citrus salad was a happy dance, bursting with flavors of sweet, salty, crunchy and bitter greens. The orichiette sausage was delicious. I could eat their cheesecake every night forever!!!! Then another 1.5 hours before our food was served. Server kept saying he was checking the kitchen, and didn't know what the delay was. When we asked to see the manager, we were told he was on his way -- after 30 minutes waiting for him (and seeing him standing around by the front door not busy), we paid the check and left. We went here for brunch and were VERY impressed. The menu has a bunch of interesting options (this is something that is very important to me when trying new restaurants-- I usually don't want to get a standard "western omelet" etc). I ended up getting a "king crab tempura hash" which was quite tasty. My wife and I also split the monkey bread which I was happy with. The most noteworthy thing about the meal, however, was the craziest Bloody Mary I have seen-- the "house Bloody" had a slice of pizza and a meatball slider as a GARNISH (similar to how other places would garnish with an olive). I also was interested to come back for dinner having seen the menu, but given our short time in Chicago we opted to try something else. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. Given the location and ambience, I think it is pretty reasonably priced as well (certainly not "cheap", but if I was in a restaurant like this outside the city, I'd expect to pay similar prices). A friend and I came to Siena Tavern upon recommendation of a Chicago local and we were not disappointed. Siena Tavern is trendy and has the most delicious food. We ordered the grilled octopus for appetizer, and the carbonara in a jar and squid ink linguine for dinner. While the kitchen closes at around 11-11:30, the establishments bar stays open which is nice. We came here just in time. The staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant and bar have a very sleek modern look. The place is also really clean and well-staffed. The grilled octopus was the absolute perfect texture. My friend and split this and we were both satisfied. The flavor is good and it's great for sharing. The carbonara in a jar is literally that. It comes in a jar with a freshly cracked egg on top that the waiter shakes around until your pasta is coated in that and cheese! Gotta love food and a little theater. The carbonara is so dense and tasty, the smell alone will make your mouth water. It's such a heavy dish that honestly after 4 or 5 mouthfuls I couldn't eat anymore. One plate of this could probably feed 2-3 people. The squid ink linguine was also very tasty and the lobster was delicious. Overall, Siena Tavern is a good spot for dinner and drinks. As soon as we walked in I knew I would get a great dining experience. I love the ambiance at this restaurant and the lighting is very cozy with romantic vibes. We ordered the bruschetta and it was different from anywhere else i've had, very sweet yet savory. Our waiter was very polite and informative, explained the whole menu and his favorites without me even asking. We had Riley as our server for me and my boyfriends birthday and she was so sweet! Her busser Iker was wonderful as well and so attentive and knowledgeable on menu items. Highly recommend the Prime Rib! Could be cut with a spoon and had a wonderful truffle butter topping. We ordered the Shaved Brussel Sprout salad for the table - 2 orders was more than enough for 6 people (wasn't so delicious that we fought over it!) we also ordered burrata - I was a bit disappointed in the quality of the bread that accompanied it. I ordered the gnocchi and the sauce was a bit heavy - but it didn't stop me from finishing the whole plate. I never got around to dining in the restaurant. We ordered via Caviar a couple weeks ago when we were craving something a little snazzy. We got the wagyu meatball, the Orecchiette, the octopus appetizer and the chocolate cake for dessert. Everything was really tasty! The Orecchiette was maybe a little on the salty side, but it was a great comforting dish so I didn't care too much. The cake was BOMB, it had gold flakes on it. Except I was confused and didn't realize it had gelato inside of it, so I put it in the fridge while we were eating dinner and it melted a little. The food arrived a little lukewarm, but our apartment is a bit of a drive, so it was understandable. I think I should have reheated a couple things in retrospect, but we were starved!! One thing I would recommend is that the restaurant put the cheese for the meatball on the side for delivery/pick-up. They also have a ton of options for anyone who may not like truffle. Aside from food and drink, service here doesn't disappoint either. During dinner, the lights are dimmed which gives a more romantic ambiance. Perfect for a date night! Favorites: Antipasti: Coccoli - The dough is crispy on the outside, but softer on the inside. The prosciutto, cheese, and truffle honey are the perfect trio to go with it. It comes in 4 when you order. Pasta: Gnocchi - FAVORITE PASTA EVER. I rave about this to all my friends and family. Everyone i've showed this dish to becomes obsessed! The truffle cream has a ton of flavor. The truffle is a perfect amount and is not overwhelming. The crispy pancetta is a great addition, but you can order it on the side for anyone who doesn't want meat! This dish is filling so if you're ordering a lot of other dishes to try, I would share this. Entrees: Pan Seared Scallops - Big pieces that are seared perfectly. What a great place with a fun and diverse crowd. A Hotel Monaco staffer recommended we go here and it was understandable why. Unique pasta dishes and salads, appetizers as well as cocktails. We had a Margarita pizza made in their oven you can view from one of the bars. Also ordered the spaghetti with crab meat. Delicious creamy and citrus flavors blended together and the crab in the spaghetti was great. Also, if you like sausage, their homemade sausage is incredible. Our server actually bought me a second plate because "The chef felt my serving was too small." My only complaints were the time it took to get everything and our server forgot to bring my second drink ordered. However, it was a busy Saturday night and our server was very pleasant and apologetic. I think it would be a great place for a "girls night out." read more

I have been wanting to try Siena Tavern for a very long time, and the food was very good. We tried numerous pastas, and the kale Caesar salad was delicious. Unfortunately, our waiter was not pleasant. His name was Austin, and continually corrected us on the pronunciation of menu items in a rude fashion. When we asked if he liked working there he said he didn't really enjoy serving and would rather be doing his other job, which is in sales. I actually didn't know this was a restaurant by a celebrity chef walking in, so it exceeded my expectations! We were able to walk in and get a seat at the full service bar on a Saturday night. They have some great reds on their wine list, but their cocktails look really delicious and I'll definitely be coming back to try those. As for the food, we ordered the octopus, mushroom truffle pizza (added sopressata on half and fennel sausage on the other half), and squid ink linguini. I was impressed by everything. The octopus is tender and comes with an amazing sauce, the pizza is a truffle-y dream (highly recommend adding sausage), and the pasta was generous with lobster pieces. Pros: accommodating to special requests, quick delivery, yummy food, freebie cookies Cons: this might be a stretch but it was little cold by the time it got to me. Such is life in delivery though We got the gnocchi, a half pepperoni half mushroom pizza, and the burrata. The gnocchi was incredibly rich but super good, and I'd say the same thing about the mushroom pizza. I was glad we balanced it out with the pepperoni. Burrata was good but not to die for.
