Came in to watch the World Cup and it was not busy at all. However, service was so slow. They never picked up empty glasses or plates. I had to ask them to take them away multiple times as we were running out of space in our tiny table. One of the waitresses was also kinda rude. For service 0/10. Ordered a spritz tower to start and it took so long to get to the table. By the time it made it to us, there was so much condensation on the glasses that it seemed like the waiter forgot to bring it and it was sitting at the bar for a while. But the drinks did taste good! For food, I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka. It was actually pretty good. I would order it again. The place has a lounge-y feel, kinda dark/moody.
Great location. Spacious restaurant and there's an outdoor patio which is great for the summer. It looks like the patio is dogs friendly. Our group came here on a Saturday afternoon, The restaurant wasn't too busy but the patio was pretty full since it was a nice day. Our group did enjoyed the inside air conditioning. Our server was great. He definitely got our kids order in first, coloring paper and crayons while the adults figure out what we wanted. I wanted something light but also filling. The chopped salad definitely hit the spot. I especially loved the radish in the salad. I just add chicken for some protein and it was a balance meal alongside my Bloody Mary. My husband lobster roll was okay. He said it was good but nothing exceptional or special. The kids enjoyed their pizza, fries and kiddie cocktails.
We stopped into Siena Tavern for after dinner drinks, and wow, we were so disappointed we didn't have time to eat here during our trip! Each of us ordered something different, and every drink was fantastic. My friend had the Frozen Peach Rosé, which was the perfect balance of tart and juicy. I ordered the Limoncello Spritz, and it was incredibly refreshing. My husband loved their Dirty Martini, and my friend's husband ordered a glass of white wine. The only hiccup was that he was accidentally served a red instead, but he ended up enjoying it so much that he kept it and said it was excellent. The atmosphere was lively, the drinks were spot on, and after looking through the menu, we were kicking ourselves for not making time to have dinner here. Everything sounded incredible, and it's already on our list for our next trip to Chicago!
(Kari's Rating 9.25/10) This place is a typical date place in Chicago, they actually got rid of a few of my favorite things on the menu like the jarred carbonara. Even still, it's still holds up to the river standard where everything is decently good, a little overpriced, but overall a great spot to bring groups as well as go on a quiet date for two. I wasn't feeling too hungry when I came just particular time, but I ended up getting the octopus as well as the focaccia and honey and then I topped the night off with the gooey butter cake. The focaccia was definitely a stand-up for me as it was crunchy and warm, and the honey was exquisite. Octopus was relatively average, but also not one of my favorite meals. I absolutely devoured the dessert. I will definitely be coming back!
A classic River North restaurant and great place to go for dinner after work. We ordered the Wagyu meatballs, number 2 cocktail, arancini, coccoli, vodka rigatoni, lobster linguine, pesto pasta (not pictured), vanilla bean cheesecake and chocolate gianduja bar. I usually don't order cocktails at restaurants but I heard great things about the No. 2 cocktail. It was a great balance of tangy from the lemon and sweetness of the peach. I had one bite of the pesto pasta and it was so sour. It was not my favorite, but the lobster linguine and the vodka rigatoni were a hit! My favorite of the appetizers was the Wagyu meatballs, but the dessert was the star of the show. The vanilla bean cheesecake had some berries on top and my favorite dessert ! The chocolate gianduja bar reminds me of a ferrero rocher and a tootsie roll walks into a bar. Great vibes and the staff were so considerate and even split a pasta I had with a friend. Definitely will be coming back!
I ordered a Margherita - mozzarella, tomato, fresh basil & Mini Tavern Burger - truffle aioli, balsamic caramelized onions, arugula, fontina. Pizza was decent! I loved the sun dried tomato and tomato sauce. Pizza was all floppy in the center but crispy at the outer crust. I appreciate there's a basil leaf on each slice which is more than I can say for other restaurants. Tavern burger has potential - I like the other ingredients but the most important part, the beef was dry and low quality. Service was slow AND the restaurant was mostly empty too. Really bad that we waited 20+ minutes for two more sliders and a takeout box.
Cool vibe when you walk in and lively music playing that makes you want to dance a bit, but it's not too loud to hinder conversation. Wait time given was 25-30 min for a table at 8pm on a Saturday for 3 people but ended up at 1:15 when the text finally came. Luckily we found a bar spot well before to mitigate the wait time.Bartenders didn't seem too attentive despite there being 3-4 of them, and would often talk amongst themselves or with other staff. Food was the real redeeming factor here. Everything in my group was very tasty, though a bit small if you're really hungry. Unfortunately the chicken parm doesn't come with pasta. I forgot to ask but that would be nice to note on the menu, when ordering, or even to offer it as an addition. Taste was great, along with the sea bass and pizza we had. Brussels sprouts and green beans for sides were okay, but didn't really do it for me personally. Billing was an issue, starting with a 3.95% surcharge that we requested off and took quite a while (see bartender attentiveness above) and then the receipt had a QR code to split but tha ended up causing more confusion than just putting multiple cards down. Overall, food was tasty and vibe was good but the inaccurate wait time for a table and additional waiting while at the bar brings the rating down.
Tasty. Especially the focaccia that's heavenly. While we opted for a few apps, shared salads, and drinks, I'm just sharing the highlights. Friendly service and very attentive at that. Perhaps a little slow, but that provides a lot of time for conversation. Cozy dim lit ambiance, but almost too cozy when close to bed time! House Focaccia w/ Spread Trio - for only 5 cuts of focaccia, the spread trio is a lot. I'll suggest ordering more focaccia because it's delicious. An alternative is to only get one spread (they're all really good), but I still recommend more focaccia! Light, fluffy, and airy, this was a pillow with a light coat of oil and topped with sea salt. Pockets in the bread gave surface area for the spread to relax before hugging taste buds. Squid Ink Linguine - al dente linguine, firm enough on impact yet slightly tender inside. Picked up the lobster cream sauce well and the sauce was delicious. Rich and thickened with some cheesiness, there was more than enough to go around for the pasta. On the side, a lobster tail was prepared well with the meat mostly out. Simple to eat while maintaining a wonderful and complete appearance. While I always love and prefer more protein, this was such a high quality and flavorful item.
Dinner at Sienna Tavern was absolutely amazing from start to finish! The Sienna Chopped Salad was bursting with so many delicious flavors in every single bite. The squid ink lobster linguine was absolutely divine! I normally am not a fan of lobster but this was so amazing. I ended with peach sorbet that was the perfect palate cleanser. Service was amazing (Shout out to Jasmine!) and so was the ambiance. 10/10 would definitely come back and order it all over again!
First time visiting. We happen to walk by this place after checking in to our hotel. So glad we stopped the food was delicious. We enjoyed the 2 Course Lunch Menu. Also enjoyed a few cocktails. A NO. 8, a Cadillac Margarita, and an Espresso Martini. All very well made. Would definitely go back for more. The host was very nice and sat us promptly. Our server was great. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations. Thank you, Brittany D. I love the decor and fun vibe. The restaurant is very spacious with plenty of sitting at the bar area and dining room.

We got a the burnt pepperoni pizza, French 75, my SIL got the seafood spaghetti and the number 2 on the alcohol menu! Pricing wasn't too bad. Except there is a random tax of 3.95%. Service was good at the bar. When we came in, we didn't get greeted and waited a while for someone to help us before we went to sit at the bar. After that good service. Good vibes, good food & good service.
This local spot has been around quite a while so I decided to give it a re-visit. I'm so happy I did. This bustling corner restaurant offers a dark sexy vibe. I love the elevated round booths that face the windows. They offer such a great view. Service was exceptional. We were given so much attention and kindness. From martinis to dessert, everything was quite tasty. We loved the focaccia, salads, steak, chicken parmigian and bombolinis. I learned they offer brunch, lunch and dinner.
We ate here a couple of weeks ago while visiting during Spring Break. The hostess was ok, but a little confusing when she asked how many and we said "2", she said "There is an hour and a half limit"...we didn't quite understand that and asked if that was a wait to get a table and she explained we couldn't be there more than that time...ok. I also find it odd when places only offer the Happy Hour deals in the bar. Prices are high, especially the drinks. The food was delicious though. I had their chopped salad and bolognese. The bread appetizer with spread was amazing!

Took my friend here for her birthday. Loved how their patio is dog friendly so we were able to bring our pups. They also have a doggy menu so we ordered them the puppy patty and they loved it! Our server was very nice and attentive and we did not feel rushed to order. We each ordered the sangria, it was so good. I've never really had white wine sangria before but it was very refreshing with pieces of watermelon and apple in it. It was not too sweet. For dinner I had the truffle mushroom pizza which was delicious. My friend had the Bolognese pasta. She enjoyed it but the serving size was pretty small. To celebrate her birthday they brought out a bombolini filled with strawberry that had a sparkler in it. My friend and I had a great time and will be back! read more

Chef Fabio Viviani of Top Chef reality tv series was the executive chef in this place. Wow! I watched it . Daniel our server informed us when we got seated right away. Impressive We got their Brick chicken cooked perfectly. The chicken was juicy and fried potatoes so tasty. My Beet and goat cheese salad was crunchy and fresh. The vinaigrette was spot on . The chicken Parmesan with pasta Alfredo aldente and The grilled Octopus was so tender not rubbery . The caramelized Brussels sprouts kinda uncooked. The truffle gnocchi with mushroom creamy sauce was divine. The Foccacia bread with all 3 spreads was amazing. Our palate was full. Kudos to Daniel for a fantastic night . Of course to the chef. I absolutely loved my experience here, the hostess, waitress and busboy were all so friendly and inviting. The food was delicious and so filling. After the meatball as an appetizer, it was hard to finish my Bolognese. Thankfully, they have to go boxes which we took advantage bc we packed everything to the desert. So much food!! The ambiance was fancy, lots of Christmas spirit and packed with good times. I saw lots of families and dates, everyone looked happy. The drinks were SO GOOD! I forgot which # I got but it had peach and lemon. read more

Siena Tavern - poor quality food, high prices, random service charge(s). Fine-ish service. Overall, would not recommend. Had a reservation for 5 people at Siena Tavern - 6:30pm this last Thursday. Arrived on time and we were seated immediately, which was a plus. That's about the best I can say about our experience. The 5 of us were crammed into a VERY small circular booth, which was tight even for 5 of what I would describe our party as being normal-sized folks. We did not ask to be re-seated, because it was pretty slammed and didn't appear there would be any options regardless. Ok. That's on us for not asking. Drink orders were taken. Asked for a double Titos and soda in a pint glass. Was specific about that. Came in a Collins glass. Ok, obviously the server didn't listen, but fine - I could live with it. Apps were fine-ish. The calamari was ok, didn't love it as it was medium warm, a bit doughy, and one of the dipping sauces was not to my liking. The marinara sauce was good, however. The burata cheese itself was high quality and fresh, but the jelly tomato base was way too sweet and quite off-putting. It also came with only 4 pieces of bread - with 5 people at the table. Not great. Then came the entrees. With the sole exception of the meatball, ALLLLLLL were so heavily over-salted as to being almost inedible. SO much salt. I and my wife drank 5 glasses of water that evening each due to only having eaten 1/2 of each of our dishes. My daughter only ate 2 bites of hers. They were, in a word, terrible. I didn't complain at the restaurant as we were with friends and didn't wish to make a scene, but I noted on the e-receipt review that the food was 2/5 overall and noted I would be happy to be contacted should they wish to follow up for details. Thus far, they have not. Oh, and $10 for "service charge" plus $5 "payment platform fee" (to pay via web) is ridiculous. I would never go here again for all these reasons. Big space inside with high table and regular seating. Make reservation on weekends and Fri evening. Also allows dog inside which is great for winter time. Service was little slow but she was helpful in making decisions. Old fashion- 3/5 Dirty martini no 3 - 4/5 Mint mocktail - 4/5 Cacio e pepe - 4.5/5 - great taste - not too cheesy Truffle pizza - 5/5 Pistachio Gelato - 4.5 Would love to see more vegetarian options read more

A place with homemade pasta and I can watch a football game? Sign me up! Upscale bar/lounge type vibes with a bar that has a few TVs and a pretty large seating area in the main restaurant. The tuna crudo appetizer was incredible. Highly recommend the orecchiette, the prosciutto sausage was unreal. read more
Siena Tavern is a pretty good option for brunch or dinner in River North. This is not the place to go if you are in a rush. The wait staff tend to take awhile to notice you and attend to you, so if you're in a time crunch just know there will be longer waiting periods. This place is usually busy during happy hours and can be quite loud then. If you want to come at a quiet time, I recommend their burrata, pizzas, their Parmesan fries (which are to die for) and Brussels sprouts. They have a pretty good array of happy hour cocktails as well. If you're look for a good sharing meal, I recommend the package dinner with family burrata, a truffle or margarita pizza, and the vodka sauce pasta. read more
Was in the area and a couple buddies suggested this place when I asked them where to get a solid pie. Called for pickup, ordered a margherita and grilled octopus. Margherita had sun dried tomatoes which I usually dont like but they were sweet(drizzled with honey possibly?). 8/10. Crispy crust and bottom, great pie i cannot lie. Octopus came with veggies and sauce, 9/10. Would upgrade to 10/10 if there was less sauce. Still VERY good. Bill came out to 55 bucks which is up there, but considering the location it was expected. Receptionist/hostess when I walked in was also very nice. Highly recommend. read more

It is a nice dinner spot in the heart of River North. No complaints about the service, it was average. The lighting is really dark in the restaurant, it was really cold in the restaurant too. I enjoyed the Focaccia with a Garlic/Artichoke Spread. For my entree, I had the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. It came out fresh and quick. It was really flavorful and filling. There were a lot of items on the menu I wanted to try. I think the pricing was pretty fair too. Check this place out, there is something for everybody on the menu. read more
I made a lunch reservation to celebrate my friend's birthday. It was pretty empty on a Monday so we could've just walked in without one. They let us sit anywhere. They have some outdoor seating. The interior was nice and clean. Coccoli (4/5): This is a traditional Tuscan fried dough snack served hot with prosciutto and cheese. This was paired with truffle honey. So good! It felt really light even thought it was fried. A bit oily. Truffle mushroom pizza (4/5): I love a mushroom pizza so I had to try. The crust had a great crunch. The cheese was a little overpowering. I would've loved more mushrooms. Gnocchi (5/5): The sauce was truffle cream with fried sage and crispy pancetta. The gnocchi was so light and pillowly. I loved the texture. It paired well with the creamy sauce. The pancetta felt a bit too crisp and burnt almost. Spaghetti (4/5): This had jumbo lump crab, charred tomato, red chili, with a lemon cream sauce. I thought the sauce would be lighter but it still worked well! The crab had great flavor with actual good sized chunks. Everything was so delicious. The service was good and attentive. I put down in OpenTable that we were celebrating a birthday so they even came out with a little frozen dessert with a sparkler on it. It was a lovely surprise. read more
Wow, the food here is amazing. I was a little skeptical because it was so easy to get a reservation for ten within two hours, but that's primarily because it's such a large restaurant. Everything that we ordered was so delicious. The gnocchi, the short rib, the desserts, everything. Very easy to do family style. Everyone in my group loved the food. One thing I will say is that we were seated at a high top table. I have two young kids so I was a little anxious about it, but the have tall high chairs for kids. Well prepared. Best Italian restaurant I've eaten at in Chicago so far. read more
A group of us went here for our monthly dinner club during restaurant week and we had a great experience. Everyone loved their dishes and we thought the service was good. My pasta main was 10/10 and I am still dreaming about the tiramisu. Would love to go back & highly would recommend for a date night spot. read more

Dinner club choice for January was Siena tavern! The restaurant is so cute and in a great location in River North. We enjoyed the drinks and the restaurant week menu! I ordered the meatball, kale caesar, vodka pasta, and bomboloni. I did receive a meatball that was very pink inside and (comparatively my friends' were all brown/looked to be cooked through). I was told it was cooked but didn't finish it. I don't really enjoy non well done beef so maybe this was a poor choice on my end! Otherwise, everything else was amazing and so delicious. So yummy in fact, I have no food pictures because we ate it all too fast, LOL. I definitely would go back! We also got an additional app and the arancini was by far my favorite arancini I've ever had. read more
Great place for a quiet dinner on a Sunday with a slightly darker and intimate setting. The homemade pasta was probably my favorite dish but the pizza was pretty delicious too. The booth seating was very comfortable but regular and high top tables are also available. read more

If you're heading to Siena Tavern, skip staring at the menu and just tell them you want the Chef's Selection. Trusting the kitchen to run the show was easily the best call we made all night. The whole experience was such a blast. Course after course came out perfectly paced, starting with fresh, bright flavors, building into insanely rich and savory main dishes, and finishing on an incredible sweet note. You get all the excitement of a surprise tasting menu without any of the stuffiness. Every single plate was balanced, fresh, and clearly prepared with serious care and talent. It was awesome sitting back, not having to stress over what to order, and just letting the pros bring out their absolute best. The energy in the room was great, the service was super attentive, and the food blew us away from start to finish. If you want a fun, memorable night out in Chicago where you're guaranteed to eat amazingly well, go with the Chef's Selection. Huge props to the entire team--we'll definitely be back! read more
Had a fantastic experience at Siena Tavern!! We got a private room for the last day of a team offsite and it was just about perfect! The room was beautiful and I loved that it was tucked away from the commotion of the rest of the restaurant. The service was great, they had a few waiters taking care of us and they were incredibly attentive. The food was also amazingggggggg. Starting with burrata is always a win for me and the tomato jam was TASTY. The Caesar salad also won me over, much more challenging to do. The pasta dishes were very good as well, I preferred the risotto but the vodka sauce pasta was also delish. Our mains were both very good and I couldn't stop eating the dessert! All of our drinks were also incredible - I tried the Number 2 cocktail and the Siena Sangria and would highly recommend both. Amazing all the way around! read more

Amazing service and amazing food! There was a large event the night we arrived and we were seated pretty quickly. The service was quick and efficient. The food was by far the highlight the vodka pasta was a must and had such good flavor. The mushroom pizza was also delicious and had a good doughy crust. I came here once long ago, but I forgot how good it is! We started with the octopus appetizer. It was a good portion and tasty. A different rendition than I've had before, but I enjoyed it. This was my first time trying the homemade pastas and they were both amazing. My friend got the orechiette and I got the rigatoni all vodka. It's a close second behind Alla Vita for my favorite vodka in the city. It was delicious. I started with a glass of sparkling rosé, which was also amazing. I tried the Tuscan kale salad and a pasta dish, and overall it was a solid experience with a few highs and a couple things that missed the mark. The Tuscan kale salad was honestly one of my favorite parts of the meal. I really liked that they used breadcrumbs instead of croutons--it made it easier to get a good bite every time without it feeling too heavy. I also asked for the dressing on the side, which worked out perfectly. The roasted tomatoes were such a nice touch--slightly sweet and paired really well with the kale. The only downside was the shaved parmesan, which tasted a little stale and didn't have that fresh, sharp flavor I was expecting. For the pasta, the sauce was definitely the standout. It's one of the better sauces I've had in the city, and the sauce-to-pasta ratio was on point. The pasta itself was cooked al dente, and once it cooled down a bit, it had a really nice texture. That said, it felt like it was missing something--maybe a bit more cheese or a little spice to elevate it. It started off strong, but after a while the flavor became a bit repetitive. Overall, I'd rate the pasta around a 7/10. It's good and worth trying, but not the best I've had in the city. I do wish I had tried the tavern burger instead--that's probably what I'll go for next time. read more

Yes! They have a dog menu, "puppy ciao". A very dog friendly patio
How far in advance can you make a reservation?
I'm not sure. I just walked in when I went. I would recommend that you check their website or even call in advance to make sure you and your party get seating. I hope this helps

They also serve regular day lunch menu.
Is their outdoor patio still open and are dog still allowed?
Yes on 5/2, we sat outside with a heater(one at every table) and the patio was partially and it was perfect!
What are their lunch vs dinner hours on weekends?
Hi Teresa, Lunch (and brunch) is 11-3. They close at 11 and kitchen closes at 10.
Is there outdoor seating?
Yes they do offer outdoor seating. It is currently heated which is nice.
