I've been going to SG for a while now and I've finally decided to do a review. I used to really like this place (I'd argue they once had the best wings in Reno) but SG has been on a steady decline. Here are a handful of things that stood out recently... -Terrible pours. It's obvious they're not giving standard shot sizes. I saw a bartender make my drink with a jigger and she didn't even fill it up! I barely got an ounce of liquor. Same thing happened with my buddies mix drink - generally super weak cocktails. -Constant communication issues between the kitchen and the servers. We were served incorrect wings, and when we wanted the correct ones they gave us a smaller order. So not only did we get wrong food items, we got less of the items we actually wanted. -If you order extra sauce or a different kind of sauce; get ready for it all to be wrong and get charged extra for additional sauce - which I think is on purpose because some nights their wings are dry and barely sauced. You then have to ask for extra sauce and then they charge you more. -Condiments are constantly empty. Get ready to steal the ketchup off someone else's table. -On multiple occasions we would walk in and be told to "sit wherever you want" - we'd grab a table, wait up to 10 minutes, realize no server was coming, then have to move to the bar section. -Frequently rude staff. I've seen a bartender literally yell at people trying to close a tab. I had a server give us attitude because we would need to split the check (we told her this literally the moment we sat down). Constant arguments about being served the wrong liquor. -Once a group of us came in and literally there was no one working. No bartender, no servers, no one. We walked around the whole place until we found the bartender hanging out in the kitchen. The only positive thing I could say about SG is when the food is prepared correctly then it's very good. Aside from that, it's a dive bar with a fancy coat on. Even the happy hour isn't enough - as your order will probably be incorrect anyways. read more

So, it's been 8 months since I last reviewed. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt and want the underdog to soar, so... I ordered one small Stella and the guy that took my drink order was miffed at having to take my order. Dude... It's one beer. Nothing special. No lemon or orange. Lemme guess big boy... You're the manager that got stuck with this Fri shift bc the weather is nice and your staff didn't show. I'm sorry for you, but don't take it out on me, Asshat. My beer sat... And sat... And sat... Empty. (Will try to attach tragic first-world photo) I didn't make a stink or a fuss. I just waited patiently. Nothing. Then... A hit! An offer of another beer... $11.50 for two small Stella's. I am a generous person so I tip ten dollars on that - making $21.50 my total. Came back again, two weeks later... Ordered a cheap draft which ended up at $6.75. Something is seriously wrong with this bar... Over and over again... For a long period of time. read more

We stopped in after work on New Years day for a bite to eat and a cocktail. The food was reasonable priced with a good selection. We both ordered Bloody Marys with our meal, they were good but nothing special. My complaint was when we received our check, the Bloody Marys were $8.75.....each! The drinks were more than our food. I felt very ripped off at this point, like I was at the airport or something. I would not be writing this if they were $6.00 each....but $8.75???? And they did not even have a celery stalk in them. Guess I will not be drinking at the Sierra Gold anytime soon as I would have to imagine that there other drinks will also be over priced. No wonder the place was dead on New Years day. read more

I thought the food was good but the service was lacking. I am a bartender and I get the whole sexy thing . I myself use it to my advantage but when you see your bartender drink and ignore you it just plain sucks. The half off drinks would be great if the bartender would actually get you a drink. I think if they had a guy behind the bar working quickly things would be so much better. Keep the sexy stuck up girl to sit there and look pretty but get someone back there to serve a drink that tastes great. I think the post that Nick made about the tramp stamps is a good idea that would be a fun game. If the owner had a brain in his head instead of his pants he would have a gold mine. read more

I'll never go here again, I've been a multi-year customer and there are too many things that now disgust me about this place. I witnessed a manager ask two uniformed police officers on lunch to leave the establishment because their cars parked in the parking lot were deterring customers from coming in. Frank the bartender is one of the most arrogant people I've met. He has made multiple unprofessional sexual comments towards friends and family. Their pricing is a complete rip off, a Red Bull well vodka is $13.25!!!!! They don't respect law enforcement, their rude and overpriced. Stay away!! read more

Melissa should not have a job as a bartender. She is an absolute disgrace to her employer. Mr. Sideburns is a big scaredy cat as well LOL. These two simply ruin this establishment for all other patrons and employees. Melissa took a simple misunderstanding on her part completely personal, and kicked us out when we were trying to order. Crazy ego on this one. Take your business across the street to Flowing Tide, a business that actually contributes to society and respects their customers. Melissa should seek employment in a simple minded career, as bartending is obviously not for her. read more

Went in there to have a few drinks after work with hubby and coworkers. Started off as a nice enough time until the slutty bartender had to keep bending over and doing numerous other things directly in front of us. Needless to say this led to a huge fight between my husband and I. If you have to dress your bartenders like hookers just to get people in the door then you have bigger problems then you think. I really hope that I will never be going back in there, and if for some reason I am dragged in there, the particular bartender better keep her distance!! read more

Sierra gold is one of my favorite spots! It has everything! One side of the business is family friendly and non-smoking. The other side has an adults only vibe. Food was spectacular! Happy hour tacos are coated in Parmesan cheese and totally worth a try. The pork belly and sausage bites are the perfect snack! Brian on the Gold side is a pleasure. Always remembers your name and keeps the drinks coming. And talk about a sports encyclopedia! Definitely entertaining. Try this place! read more

Love everything about Sierra Gold, from the servers, bartenders, regular customers to the people walking in for the first time.. every time I step foot in the door I am smiling and ready for my little escape. They have some of the best cocktails and reasonable priced appitizers, living in south Reno or not, you must experience this place :) read more

If you want your food served with a meth pipe and a cigarette you've found your new place. Don't let the classy cow skin covered furniture fool you, the dusty ambience comes along with a messed up order and a fun loving redneck customer base! How do they do it! read more

Pretty good spot for breakfast and lunch. not always consistent with the food prep but fairly good none the less. I meet with a couple co-workers once a week for breakfast. Good service overall. read more
