Love this new Himalayan spot, right off the Saw Mill Parkway. Such great value and so good. This spot started as a food truck, currently at the Pleasantville Farmer's Market, and now they've opened their first restaurant. Delicious chicken, veggie, beef and chives momos. Comforting, healthy thukpa soup, like a heartier chicken soup with more veggies and thicker noodles. The Thali set is unbelievable value for $15, giving you the chance to sample chicken curry, black lentils, cauliflower and potato, rice, and even dessert. Coming back to try the owner's butter chicken, which I hear is the best, and their mango lassi. 5 stars!!!!

Sikkim Hut The Taste of Himalaya is a new restaurant that just opened in January. This amazing restaurant offers authentic Himalayan, Indian, and Indo-Chinese cuisine. My husband and I really enjoyed this place, our first time trying Himalayan food. The variety of dishes were endless and the food was beautifully presented. We ordered the masala chai, crispy veg fritters, beef sekuwa, mix momo platter, and Nepali thali chicken set. Everything was so incredible and flavorful. Lovely decor, excellent service, dog-friendly, a true gem, definitely a repeat spot. The owners, Chef Dendup Sherpa and his wife, Dawa Tsamchut were perfect hosts and so welcoming. I can't wait to go back and try everything else.

Would recommend and definitely plan to return.

I was so happy to hear that they opened another restaurant in Glen Cove! Plenty of street parking is available, and they even have a shared parking lot in back of the restaurant! I parked in the back, and entered the restaurant via the backdoor! Note that there are stairs at the back entrance, so if you can't do stairs, it's best to park in front of the restaurant. This Glen Cove locations is lovely; beautiful murals and great vibes. I was shocked and sad to see it so empty on a Saturday evening! I hope more people give this place a chance because the food and service is great! This was our Shared Menu (plenty for 2ppl, and we had leftovers): -- Water Buffalo Momos w.Chili Sauce (8pcs/$18): the Momos were tasty; the meat was very lean. I would skip the Chili sauce next time. I didn't like the sweet and sour taste of the sauce, so next time I'd like to try the steamed Momos with Johl sauce instead. -- Choila Roti "Not a Taco" with Jackfruit (2pcs/$12): Not a Taco but similar to a taco. This was delicious and I'd get this again. We choice the Jackfruit version but they also have a chicken version. -- Masala Wings (Sauteed wet version) (4pcs/$11): I remember really liking the wings when I was at the Ridgewood location but couldn't recall which wings we had. On this visit, we had the wet version which was good but I realized that I like their dry version better. -- Grilled Lamb Chops w.Timur Sauce, Veggies & white rice (2pcs/$25): Surprisingly, this was my least fave dish of the night. I normally love lamb chops but these chops didn't really have a nice seared taste to them. The texture was a little off for me. Also, it was very boney with not much meat. I would try another entree next time. All in all, a good meal! I found the large selection of appetizers more interesting than the entrees, and would have been happy just sharing a bunch of appetizers and small plates. Customer service was welcoming and friendly! It was a pleasure to chat with the owner. Nice addition to the neighborhood!

My husband and I both got tikka masala dishes. He got chicken and I got the shrimp. In hindsight I wish I had tried the Saag just so we could have tasted a different sauce. However, the tikka masala was truly the best we've ever had. And we are always chasing excellent food so we've had our share. The dumplings were great but we would likely opt for a different appetizer as they didn't really blow us away. The service though is really what puts this place over the top. We were in a bit of a time crunch so I'm disappointed we couldn't stay longer and try dessert so we will definitely be back when we can make it down to SoNo again.

Service felt a bit understaffed, our first order took a while, and our second order never arrived. They did try to make it right, but by then we had already been there a couple of hours and the kids were definitely not going to keep sitting and waiting. We also had a small hiccup with the chai tea: it comes unsweetened with sugar on the side, but the sugar was forgotten at first. When it did arrive, there was no spoon and not quite enough packets. The chai itself was decent once we could actually sweeten it. The momos were surprisingly flavorful on their own, with a nice curry spice kick that made them enjoyable even without dipping sauce. The sauces they come with are also tasty, just be careful, as one has a pretty strong heat that lingers. We also had the chicken garlic soup, which was quite tasty with fried garlic chips on top. Overall, good food but service felt a bit overwhelmed that night.

Over a long wintery holiday weekend the family decided to give this new spot a shot and we were immediately stumped by a majority of the menu. (I'd like to think I can hold my own chatting about Gautama but I was lost seeing the likes of "tarkari" and "chatamari" and "jimbu".) Between the four of us we sampled a fair amount of stuff... from various Momos to Sukuti Chow Mein to Samosas and Naans. With zero reference point to what would be 'good Nepalese food' and just a wee bit of experience with the likes of other South Asian cuisine you need to take our opinions with a sliver of yak butter... "This is hotter than any Thai food I ever tried." - one kid "This is too hot. It's killing me." - the other kid (My kids generally dig spicy food and like to try to one-up each other so it was funny to see them 'suffering' and hoping their sibling would wave the white flag first and quit on dinner.) "Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but mine was just two-stars." - the Mrs. ...and then there's the guy that just went vegetarian and loved every single thing I tried. My steamed momo dish was bursting with so much flavor. (There's a Korean spot in town and their veggie dumplings can't compete.) The naan was perfect. (Everyone loved their naan - the one item that offered some relief from all the spicy-heat.) The samosa - crunchy, dense, not really sure what's inside (beans and potatoes?) - were deep-fried scrumptiousness. The place is small, cute, and had a great lively energy the Saturday night I went to grab our order. Very limited street parking (competing with another restaurant right next to them). The pricing was absurdly decent. We had a lot of food for under $70 which is awesome. Easy 5-stars from me. (Averaging all four family members' scores and it's sadly just 3.5)

One of the best dishes they used to have there were spinach and cheese momos, they got rid of it. That dish was also one of the things that made it unique and better than alot of the momo places i have been to. They have the chicken momos, which are decent, the beef one is meh. They also got rid of the mixed momos option. For the mains: Pad gra prao is decent but too salty, spicy but not too spicy. Chicken with chili, it has good heat, but that's all. The flavor is just weird, the chicken is nice and tender, but the sauce tastes weird as if they put too much corn starch in it and mixed in some weird smoke flavor. Not a fan. Overall: may come back in another year to see if they added the spinach and cheese momos back, at the same time, I'm gonna find a new go to place nearby.
