Pretty bland tasting and the butter chicken leaves much to be desired. Nothing special here. The restaurant is overdone in style, becasue it can't match the quality of food, so the owners expect to dazzle people with the furnishings which are heavily overdone. There's almost no parking available and the neighborhood is a ruin with druggies and drunks passed right outside the door and urinating right next to the restaurant. If you like people begging for change, urinating on your car and harassing you as you walk to or from the building, then this is your ideal place to dine. Maybe somebody can stab you on the way to or from this overpriced and over-inflated joke of a restaurant because they think you are wealthy. Well just as many other over-hyped restaurants in this city, it sadly relies on the glitz and glamour to try to sell itself and isn't much more impressive than what the corner store down the street offers...only at much less the cost. This place also used to be an old drug manufacturing warehouse where illegal drugs were manufactured and no doubt that many of the chemicals permeated itself into the wood structure which is on the verge of falling apart as you dine on these tasteless and over-hyped meals. I vote a no on this, when there are much better restaurants a few feet away. read more

It's a quirky, romantic, beautiful place and the food is wonderful. We went twice in one week taking two different sets of people (within our covid bubble) who both loved it. They make the paneer (cheese) on site and each dish has a Silk Lounge touch to it to making it slightly unique - and delicious. Service was great - even with one server. The whole time in Silk was more like an art experience than just a nice dining experience. I didn't expect such a beautiful and elegant Indian restaurant in the middle of Railtown. As soon as we passed the door I was so shocked by the interior. I could tell that the owner put so much thought and effort in every single thing in there. It turned out that it took them 4.5 years to decorate the whole place (which I am not surprised). The food was excellent as well! I loved how tasty yet light my butter chicken was. I was wondering how everything tasted so clean so asked few questions to our server, and had a chance to talk to the owner of the restaurant who is a cook and a farmer. It is hard to find genuinely health conscious Indian restaurant in Vancouver but Gary, the owner of Silk, truly believes in healthy cooking. He doesn't use any processed or refined ingredient and the only type of oil he uses in his food is Avocado oil. I was truly impressed by the fact that he harvests his vegetables directly from his own organic farm which is very close to the restaurant. Also their kitchen is open so we could see all the process of prepping our meal. After speaking with Gary, I could tell that he is a man with a dream and a strong belief. I really wishes all the best to him and this restaurant since I t believe that there should be more restaurant owners like Gary. The most delicious North Indian restaurant I've tried in downtown. I've been here a few times and tried a lot of different dishes, the flavors are just incredible. You can taste every spice. It's my new go-to place for Indian food in downtown. I love the decor as well, excellent for special events or dates. The chef and the staff are friendly as well. I really liked this restaurant! It's beautifully decorated and looks just like the photos online. Vibrant. Sari-like. I went with four friends (three Indian) and we're pretty snobby when it comes to Indian food. We were all very happy with the service (good banter) and great food. Tasty, lots of spice, and the Indian cocktails are really good. The drinks alone are reason to go because they are so different from any other restaurant. Went in last night (Tuesday) was very quiet but we were so impressed. Not only is the food absolutely delicious (Indian) but the room itself is amazing. It's like sitting in a jewellery box - the attention to detail with the interior is amazing. Agree with other commenters that this would be an incredible place to have a birthday dinner or for a group, however as a couple we thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was incredible, Milton and Baz have the front of house locked down! So welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Not sure what you want to drink? Milton probably has a cocktail for you that you didn't even know you want! We booked this place out for a family birthday today. The owners were amazing, the vibe is great and the decor incredible- apparently it took years to get all the pieces designed and custom made. I ordered the Coconut prawns and the bowl was half full with sauce and 4 prawns for $23 no veggies either. The bowl of rice was another $6. Deco and ambiance is amazing!! Lots of beautiful details throughout. We shared the halibut starter which had awesome flavour. It came with a dipping sauce that I loved. For the main course I had the prawn coconut curry again very good flavour...not too coconutty/rich if you know what I mean. The prawns were big, filling. My friend had I believe it was lamb with spinach. Says its a close variation of Saag. I tried the meat, it was moist and tender and well marinated. The decor is amazing - everything from the lighting to the paint and the silk that is everywhere. The colours are unlike any other Vancouver restaurant. Truly a beautiful restaurant both inside and out. The interior and decoration is very detailed. I remember my first time walking inside, I was blown away. The first time walking in all i could think of was paradise. My eyes would wander and each time, I would find a new detail in the decoration. Nothing was left un-decorated, even the ceiling had a pattern design.The lighting and everything is perfect.Speaking of perfect, the food was amazing, and for a decent price you will get food that is both delicious and healthy for you and their food is always fresh. I will be coming back again for another great meal, this time with more friends. The chefs and waiters were very friendly and all had smiles on their faces. You can tell that the chefs love what they do. One of my personal favorite appetizers would be the steak bites, and for $15.99 too, definitely worth it for a great appetizer. read more

They've obviously put a lot of thought into the design of this restaurant. The interior was lovely with long comfortable banquets that would be perfect for larger groups. The staff were all very friendly and did their best to make our night enjoyable but seemed inexperienced and a bit unsure about common serving practices so it made for an odd experience at times. Most likely this will be worked out when they've been open a bit longer. We had thought that the menu might be a fusion of French and Indian but it was two separate sheets. We only tried the Indian dishes which were quite delicious. I enjoy spicy food so I liked everything but it was on the hotter side of medium so order accordingly. Good complexity of flavours though and also many GF options. Perhaps a bit over-priced but once their actual menus are printed I hope that they detail that everything is organic so that people appreciate the care that is going into their food. So a group of us ladies went to check this place out last night and first off i will say the decor was absolutely amazing! Loved loved the ambiance!! But i wish i could say the same for the food and service. I ordered butter chicken and it had zero flavour and tasted very sour and buttery. It was the worst butter chicken i have ever tried. My rice was hard and crunchy. I then changed my order to the prawn curry which was tasty but i had to wait over 30 minutes for it and everyone else at the table had already finished their meals. They forgot to make one of our orders and the service was very slow. I would not come back here for a meal but would come back for drinks just for the ambiance. Visiting Vancouver from WA state, and saw their menu online. We went in mid-December as a pre-Christmas trip. Fresh, organic, Indian and French. The 3 of us had to try. Did not expect such an elegant place in the Railtown area. Walking in was a different world. We arrived early and were greeted warmly. Our host took great pride in telling us about the organic herbs and ingredients grown by his family here and in India. We ordered 3 different dishes (chicken, lamb, and vegan) and shared them all. The zuchinni appetizer is so nicely done! The portions were generous, and took some back to our hotel. Our host suggested a wonderful, smooth, French wine that went well with all the dishes. No room for dessert. This place has been open for less than a year. It was an art and dining experience. I wish them much success, and when in Vancouver, I would return. They really care about what they are doing. A must go! read more

I moved in few weeks ago to the next block of this restaurant, so I want give a try to this place.I came in couple days ago, beautiful decor, the curry was bland.tiny portions.Food is over priced and it take hours to show on your table but the surprise was when I saw the chef owner #GarySidhu as he mentioned his name (who I recognized from when he came to our table telling us all about the organic ingredients and eating healthy bla bla ) buying groceries at the sunrise market up the street.Twice I saw him up there, The grocery store doesn't have even one organic item in there. I live up the street, so when I saw the chef owner walk into the restaurant with all the non organic groceries, I had to write this review. if the business is slow and you cant afford the organic ingredients you shouldn't advertise organic when it's not! He has his restaurant advertised as organic ingredients only! FALSE ADVERTISING FOLKS! Dont waste your time and money here. read more

Our experience ended before it began. It was my friends first birthday in Vancouver since she relocated to Canada. We made reservations for a Friday evening and drove over an hour in rush hour. We received a call 15 minutes before our reservation stating that they were having an event the same night and that we will only have the option of ordering off their set menu for a fixed price. They claimed it was stated on yelp where they received our reservations from, when infact we made reservations directly on their website. They claimed it was on their website too. We didn't even receive a sorry but rather okay goodbye when we said they had ruined our evening. After that we had to wait over 2 hours to find a special place to eat for celebrating her birthday, since line ups were long everywhere else or they had no reservations available. Way to ruin a birthday and if it was written on their website as they claimed then why did they need to call and tell us that 15 minutes before. Terrible Customer Service! I wouldn't even try and go back nor would I recommend it for a special event!!! I never write reviews but we were so looking forward to this place, especially after a hectic work week. read more
