There are about six private spacious rooms which are great for events, birthdays, and/or social gatherings. There's also plenty of parking, which is a big plus. The menu is extensive, and most of what we ordered was excellent. Lobster Mountain -- $168 | 9/10 (based on food quality & portion size relative to pricing) Definitely the showstopper of the meal. Six lobsters are stacked into an impressive, highly photogenic "mountain," accompanied by fries and a crispy dome-shaped taro creation underneath. The lobster meat was tender and juicy, while the crispy exterior was loaded with flavorful garlic and jalapeño. It's an eyeful when it arrives at the table and tastes almost as impressive as it looks. Considering you receive six meaty lobsters plus the extras underneath, it's well worth the price for our party of six adults and three kids. Whole Peking Duck -- $58 | 4/10 Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The skin was crispy and the meat tender, but the duck wasn't particularly juicy and lacked the deep savory flavor and aromatic fragrance I expect from a great Peking duck. Given the portion and overall quality, I didn't feel it justified the $58 price. Stir-Fried Beef Flat Rice Noodles -- $19 | 9/10 Outstanding and easily one of the highlights. The beef was tender, the noodles had an excellent smoky wok hei aroma, and the dish wasn't overly greasy. Great portion for $19 and easily among my top five stir-fried beef flat rice noodle dishes I've ever had. Mayonnaise Walnut Shrimp -- $25 | 8/10 Jumbo shrimp with a crispy exterior coated in a delicious sweet-and-savory mayonnaise sauce. The generous portion and quality made the $25 price reasonable. Egg Tofu with Snow Pea Leaves -- $21 | 8/10 The tofu was soft and creamy, while the fresh, crisp snow pea leaves and savory sauce brought everything together beautifully. Very satifying with good portion size. Spot Prawn Sashimi -- $98 | 6/10 Beautifully presented over ice with approximately 8-10 prawns, with the heads and bodies separated. The prawns were fresh and naturally sweet and paired nicely with the sushi sauce and ginger. Quality was good, but at $98, the portion makes this difficult to consider a strong value. Jalapeño Garlic Soft-Shell Crab -- $30 | 8/10 Another standout. The crispy batter was packed with garlic, butter, black pepper, and jalapeño flavor, while the fresh crab inside remained the star. Savory, crispy, and satisfying, with pricing comparable to similar dishes around the area. Service was exceptional throughout our visit. We were seated immediately upon checking in for our reservation, our order was taken promptly, and the food arrived quickly. Despite how busy the restaurant was, there always seemed to be a waiter nearby whenever we needed utensils, napkins, water, or wanted to order something else. Even the co-owner and manager personally stopped by our table to make sure everything was going well--a thoughtful touch that we really appreciated. Overall, Fung's Kitchen was an excellent dining experience. Prices can run high on certain dishes, and the Peking duck was disappointing, but the Lobster Mountain, beef flat rice noodles, soft-shell crab, attentive service, and impressive atmosphere more than made up for it. 5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.
