Our first visit to the newish Ballston location was this Friday morning for the two-for-one meal promotion. Parking in the Target garage was easy and very well signed. The dining space is grand, airy, spacious and creative. Our booth was comfy though the tall table height made us feel rather like children. Our server knew all about the promotion and made sure we got our order in before the 11am deadline. She was very friendly and efficient. The food was great! I had a goat cheese egg white omelet with naan bread and a gorgeous refreshing side salad with vinaigrette, strawberries, blood orange, raisins and walnuts. Yum! Hubs had a nice steak with potatoes and spinach. Nearby the whole top corporate leadership was having a meal, including chef Ype, very interesting. The menus for all times of day were extensive, inventive, and fairly priced I thought. Nice place to hang out. read more

Went here for some dessert and the grasshopper shake did not disappoint! Good diner food overall, only thing is they try to be a little too fancy with the classic stuff. They didn't have just regular pancakes listed on their menu (I'm sure you could order them though), so I tried the protein quinoa ones. Not that impressed with those! read more

Honestly...probably the worst breakfast experience I've had in NOVA. Right off the bat we walk in and out in names on the list. No biggie, it's Sunday...we expected a wait. We were told 20-25 mins and that we would get a text. Got it. We leave and walk into target which is directly next door. Not even TWO mins go by and we get a text saying "did you leave? Return to host for a message" 30 seconds later...another message with the same thing. No specifics like "your table is ready," or "we are missing information..." just a demand to return. So we go back and they say "we've been trying to reach you, you're table has been ready." Like...ok back off. You JUST said 20-25 mins and then messaged us within 4. Sorry we had to walk back from leaving after your instructions. Anyway.. We get sat. The layout is horrendous in this restaurant. They really did try to squeeze as many tables as possible in this place. The guy sitting at the table next to us had to move his table so we could get behind him. Not only am I sitting on top of the people next to us on both sides, our server literally can not even reach us because of how the two tops are placed in the middle of the serving floor. She was kind, but it was loud and just picture someone standing about 4 feet away leaning as much as they can trying to hear you over the people next to us talking about politics in 2010. The menu.. Jesus. Not gonna lie, I thought silver diner was a breakfast place. Everything under the sun is before any breakfast items. They are literally on the back of the menu. And WHO DOESNT HAVE pancakes or waffles as a SIDE?! All I asked for was Belgian waffles with chocolate chips inside and bananas on top. Not on the menu. But our waitress said it was doable. 25 mins later, I get a plain waffle with a small condiment cup of mini chocolate chips next to it. ONE egg, scrambled and one piece of bacon, and missing the bananas. $17. Our waitress comes after the food runners and I ask about the waffles. She was also confused so went to the kitchen and returned saying "we aren't allowed to put chocolate chips in our waffles." Why? That makes absolutely no sense. So after waiting for that, food is now cold and I eat this waffle with mini chocolate chips on top. Killed the vibe, atmosphere was horrible and the service (other than our waitress who actually tried) underwhelming. 100% would not recommend. Take the extra 5 mins and go to Metro29. A true breakfast diner with unlimited options and they will gladly make you chocolate chip waffles that are amazing. read more

I was here my friends in morning. Custumor service is so bad, table unclean! Kids meal not correct! OMG!!!!!

After we were seated we did not get our orders taken or even meet our waiter for 15 minutes while other customers were seated, promptly greeted and given waters. The waiters kept staring at us and still did not come to service us until I waved at one kindly to ask for water. Five minutes after, our actual waiter came to take our order. Overall, very disappointed in the service because there was only one waiter actually waiting the entire restaurant even though there were multiple waiters present. We were the only black people in there and felt like we were being treated differently. The food was fine as expected. At the end we were struggling to carry three to-go containers and hot teas on our way out and asked the host for a bag. He just handed us the bag without any assistance even though our hands were full. We had to walk back to a counter to set our stuff down while he watched us struggle. read more

Wanted a late bite to eat, and went to the Silver Diner at about 10 pm (they closed at midnight). We got seated, and for 17 minutes no one came over to take our order, get us drinks, or anything. It wasn't busy, and the servers were standing in a corner talking amongst themselves and texting. After 17 minutes of no one coming over, we got up and left. read more

Please everybody that's in the area.... Don't eat this shit. The food was so cold and dry. I ordered fries just for it to come out with the cheese hard as hell and the fries cold and don't get me started on the fucking cheesecake. The cheesecake looked so good but it broke like chalk and was just frozen. The prices are hella expensive and not worth at all. I feel bad for anyone that ate there. read more

Was in town visiting family... tried this place out... perfect choice ... big bar with cool drink options ... nice vibe .. menu was huge ton of choices , plenty of plant based & healthy options too... probably the best Tuna Melt I've ever eaten... We ordered in for dinner from the Ballston location. When two of our orders came out incorrect, the manager personally saw to the orders being remade and he hand delivered them to us late at night within 20 minutes of us calling in the problem. The customer service is top notch. Food came out great. We will definitely be frequently returning diners here. The food was good. The service was deplorable. If you want to sit around waiting for your server to remember you exist, have to flag random staff as you sit waiting for half hour increments at a time, and take 2 hours to get through a simple lunch with 2 little kids, this is the place. read more

This was a random stop in with a family member who was on her way to the airport but wanted to stop and eat breakfast before heading to the airport. Note: This location is new, I believe they moved from Wilson and Clarendon to a new and improved location at Wilson and N Glebe. I have to start out by stating the service was hands down amazing, the hosts staff, waiters, supervisors, and managers were very helpful and professional. My wife and I have gone to high end restaurants and received much less service for triple the price. Our server Mike was great, restaurant was super busy but he took care of whatever we needed. Cousin and I had the Lumberjack breakfast, basic and delicious but that's what you want from a family style diner restaurant. The decor was clean and well lit, plus when we had a small issue regarding how hot the food was. The staff quickly made a new plate and throw in an apple pie dessert. I love Silver Diner! This Silver Diner chain is literally one of my favorites in the DMV/Norther VA. I must say that the location in Ballston is wonderful. I've been a patron at Ballston more than a couple times now and have had the pleasure to be served by, Prakriti. She is awesome! You can clearly see that Prakriti loves what she does and treats people with kindness. During my last visit, upon completion of my meal (with my family) the manager, Victoria , checked in on us, which I thought that was so wonderful. I just gushed about how delicious my burger was and that I love bringing my family to the Ballston Location. The manager recommended that I check-out the Silver Diner app and sign-up as I told her that I will continue to be a frequent customer. Thanks Silver Diner crew! read more

A group of ten gathered at the new location in Ballston for brunch. The parking, that we thought might be a problem, was super smooth. Silver Diner validates parking. The food is the same sustainability-conscious fare at the old place: great and delicious. The ambiance is more modern and airy, which was comforting to us older folks concerned with covid risk. The ceilings are very high giving lots of space for air exchange. The service was excellent. The menu has been updated with some interesting items, and the standards are still on offer as well. I've been to other Silver Diners in the area but was excited for the one at Ballston to open since it's closer to me. We stopped by on the first week they opened, the place was clean, and since it's brand new, everything looked nice. The food was very good. We had a spinach dip (the chips are really tasty), steak frites, and a shrimp grain salad. The manager Victoria stopped by, greeted us, asked us how our experience was and invited us to come back.
