Tasty food! Very nice staff. Quick to be seated. I would definitely return when I'm in the area.

I don't know where to start. I miss the Clarendon location. Miss the parking lot. Here, you have to park in Target's garage, take an elevator, and then go outside--but they do validate for two hours. Party of two, seated promptly, the diner wasn't by any definition busy. After ten minutes, no one had stopped by our table, so I (nicely) asked the host to send a server. Five minutes later, someone came to our table. They didn't have any spring water (though it's on the menu), ordered tap water, hot tea, kids milkshake, kids grilled cheese, side of fries, and a salad with protein. Twenty minutes into this. We have tap water, and nothing else yet. Waiting for the other drink orders. Kids milkshake arrives. Five more minutes, grilled cheese arrives, inexplicably with a cup of jam or cranberry sauce. Asked for the fruit that was supposed to come with it. It was brought quickly. No silverware or napkins on our table, so I got up and grabbed them from another table. We eat, food is whatever, as usual for Silver Diner. (We wanted to go to Circa, was closed today.) Grilled cheese came to the table almost cold, so the bread was pretty hard, at that point. Salads should be rethought so that they're not filled with tiny bits of the ingredients. I can cut a vegetable. We sat for fifteen minutes with cleared plates, waiting for the check but no one was to be found. Asked a busboy to find our server for us. She came over and I asked that the hot tea be taken off the bill because it never arrived. She said "Sorry, they made me close last night and open this morning, so my brain is a little..." They do not give you an itemized, paper check here. You see your total on the screen, and tap your card table side, while the server holds the credit card machine. So, if the server and I had both forgotten that the tea didn't arrive at table, I would have paid for it unknowingly. And THEN, after really, truly sub-par service, the tip options are 20%, 22%, and 25% LMAO, which you choose while the server is holding the machine and watching you. I tip VERY well, up to 40% for excellent service and 20% just for usual, acceptable service, but this deserved neither. I pressed the one that was lit up (22%) to get out of there, because my daughter was bored out of her mind at that point. Will not be returning. Also, the music is too loud to talk comfortably in that cavernous space, and we miss the table jukeboxes. Peace out. read more

Having been to at least four of the Silver Diner locations, they all have consistently quality modern diner food without everything being fried to oblivion. Our server was super friendly and attentive the whole meal. This time around I went for one of my standrad- the triple brined chicken sandwich, which always has a good not overly salty flavor to it. The fries are also always good. The only compliant I really have is their coleslaw. I like that its not doused in mayo- but whats up with the corn in it?? Sorry, that just doesn't appeal to me. I have been a regular for breakfast at this place because the BLUE PLATE BREAKFAST seems like a good value but recently the FOOD, seems like it has been going downhill my order is simple the Pancakes with 2 eggs and chicken sausage it seems like the food is cold and the coffee is not piping hot it is luke warm coffee and the Pancakes are ice cold and the chicken sausage is stale and chewy like rubber it is as if they warm it in a microwave and when the Pancakes are brought to the table they are pre-made frozen pancakes which they throw in the microwave for 1 minute and serve the butter has a hard time melting on it and is very hard to cut with a knife and it seems like the management doesn't care I told my server that he is not at fault and that it should not effect his SERVICE, which was very attentive which gets a 5 star and the AMBIANCE, is very nice as well but the food needs to get better not just coming from a microwave I believe this would be the last time I would go here due to the mediocre quality of the food plus the fact that Rob said he will refund me if I had paid with a credit card but I paid in cash and all he could offer is a slap in the face with a $5 coupon does he think $5 dollars can cover even a basic coffee which I had mentioned it was not hot at all and cardboard texture Pancakes somehow I hope this place called Silver Diner goes away like many restaurants before it people go to IHOP instead read more

Came in for a late night sundae. Thank goodness for the very warm greeting at the door or it would be one star. The restaurant smelled unfresh which detracted from the sundae. It took 15 minutes for someone to take my order and return with a simple sundae. I will not visit them again. read more

I really enjoyed Silver Dinner when it was located in Clarendon. Since the move- I feel the service has suffered and the prices have hiked up. The staff here are too relaxed and lackadaisical. When I had dinner there on Friday - everything coming out was so slow- drinks/food/dessert/check and I was wondering what was going on- I see my waitress hiding out in the back tables- eating and chatting it up with colleagues. This is place is worth the wait. Couldn't get enough for breakfast had to come back for dinner too. My son just got a job with capital one So we drove from Chicago Illinois to Arlington Virginia. We stayed at the Westin. Hungry and tired. We spotted silver diner from the window of our hotel room. It was busy but you know when it is the food must be good. The food was absolutely delicious. And I want to send a special shout out to three remarkable people who took extra good care of us. Breakfast Kabati and Hannah. And for dinner she was the best. It was alot she was catering too. Oh, so good! I visited DC from Arizona for the very first time this weekend and my friend brought me to the Silver Diner as soon as I arrived. We were waited on by Joshua who was attentive, sweet and professional. Because of him and the phenomenal food, we returned 3 times during my 4 day stay! My first meal was the waffles. Very light and soft. The next night, I had the lobster pasta (oh wow!) and on my last day we stopped by for a traditional eggs and sausage breakfast. There was absolutely nothing I could imagine better. The healthy and locally sourced items were fresh and flavorful. Each dish was prepared to perfection. I enjoyed the variety and Joshua made me feel right at home from the very first visit. I can't wait to return to your beautiful city and visit Silver Diner again! read more

Service awesome Ambiance great Vegetables tasty MEAT SUCKED The corporate office decided to buy gristle meat - Not tenderloin - I checked with the Beef Council - and tenderloin can not have gristle running through it. I'm just wondering what is it when you say one thing knowing it's not true - what's that called??? What's the word I'm looking for - it's on the tip of my tongue... REAL Steak Friets is soo good when somebody who knows what they're doing makes it. It's a dish made by chefs for chefs and crew at night after the restaurant closes. It's wholesome filling and honest as this is something at the chefs' table they eat. So a decision to save ten cents and not paying attention to what it is you are trying to make ruins a whole meal! There's a tip from a kitchen manager: if you're going to cheap out the meat - it's proportioned so sous vide it for about 6 hours to break down all the connective tissue hit it in a hot pan with some butter to brown the beef (?) then nobody would know what you did. Shame on you I wanted to love your dish and I just feel lied to - what a missed opportunity for everyone... read more

We too were big fans of the old spot, the kids liked the mini-juke boxes at the tables. Our family of 4 came in on a weeknight at about 6. There were lots of available tables, and we were seated quickly. The food was fine, and the kids enjoyed their pancakes, hubs liked meal but my fish tacos were weird (triangular breaded fish pieces like from the super market freezer section), without flavor and the pineapple salad was massive chunks of pineapple dropped on a bowl of whole spinach leaves, no dressing. This is the first disappointing meal I've ever had at a Silver Diner. The low booth seating really puts you on top of the people next to you, I miss the relative privacy and ability to contain kids the higher booths provided. Booths have no place to hang your coats so things were very crowded and our outer ware kept falling in the floor. My struggle was with really with the settling up process. We waited 20 minutes after the kids had finished dessert and finally flagged down another server as our gal had disappeared. Ten minutes later she showed up and just told us our total without providing an itemized paper bill, shoving the hand held credit card device at me to put my credit on. No way to see what we were charged for. The options are to tip 20, 22, or 25% or you need to take the device from the server and fuss with a custom amount, which would be awkward. So we tipped 20% to the waitress who disappeared and extended our stay by 30 minutes. This seems like bad form. I wish they would revert to printed receipts in bill folds or leave the device at the table so you can review totals and tip without the pressure of your server staring at you and pre ordained amounts. Parking is in the Target garage below. Signage is adequate but you get spit back out onto the street and need to walk outside to get to the restaurant. I'm definitely missing the ease of the old parking lot which didn't involve gates, keeping track of tickets for validation, an elevator, and like five doors to get to your seat. This would be a struggle with a stroller or less mobile person. All things considered, will be less likely to frequent this new location than the original. read more

The renovated silver diner menu has a huge variety that accommodates all dietary restrictions but the food is okay. I used to love the old location with the old retro feel. I have not been to the corner location Ballston. read more

The silver diner never disappoints. Their food is pretty good and I like the atmosphere. I went there with a couple friends and it was packed but we got seated in about 15-20 minutes. Most of the time there is a little bit of a wait but they do get you seated pretty fast, which is another reason why I like them. I recommend the western omelette. read more

The ambiance is much like other Silver Diner locations. The interior was spacious, but I chose to sit outside. Note that it can be noisy outside because the restauraunt is located by a busy intersection not far from a firehouse. Aside from some sirens here and there, it was a lovely experience enjoying the fresh air while dining on delicious food and enjoying good conversation. My server as attentive and personable. I was particularly impressed by the modern fare and the way the menu was organized. There was a whole section for meals under 600 calories. There was a whole section for grain/salad bowls. The prices were reasonable and the meal arrived quickly and was very tasty. The parking was also very conveniently located right under the restaurant. Just a great experience for a family with two tired and hungry kids. Oh yeah , and incredibly roomy booths for the kids to roll around in. And a GREAT beer selection. We came here for brunch on our five-year old daughters birthday. We let her choose where we ate. We have been members of the Silver Diner "Kids Club" for a few years. Back when we lived closer to the Mosaic location, they would give our older daughter a punny pin every time we went. We stopped going as often once we had enough pins for the free t-shirt, but we started going again when this location opened near our house. They have never given us a pin at this location, and today, we told the server it was our daughter's birthday, but they did not do anything special. There is always a line out the door, so they're not hurting for business, and we did hear the birthday song at a different table.
