Silver diner is truly hit or miss when it comes to the food. This morning I had a chicken pot pie and it was gross. It had squash in it which gave it a sweet taste and only had flaky breading on the top, so I wouldn't consider it a pie. It came with a side, I chose the chowder and my friend chose the Cesar salad. The Cesar salad had tomatoes on top which was odd. Save your money and get a frozen Marie Calendar pot pie from the grocery store. We really liked this place. I had basic eggs and bacon. Bacon was real good. My wife had the pancakes and she WOW. Pancakes are very basic. That is what made her WOW comments mean something. We had been to a pregame event at Nats Park and had some time to kill before game time so we were looking for a breakfast place. Silver diner is just outside the centerfield gate. I've been to the Silver Diner in Rockville and Silver in Bethesda so I figured the food would be good. The location was perfect. There was a wait for inside seating, so they offered their upstairs area called Silver Social with a more limited menu or outdoor seating. It was a beautiful day so we chose a shady table outside. Our server was wonderful and attentive and got us coffee with creamers and water immediately. The coffee was just okay but it was bottom. They do offer espresso drinks. Next time. I ordered their American breakfast, which was eggs, any style, choice of meat, potatoes, and a biscuit. I chose scrambled, which came out overdone. Next time I'd specify soft scrambled eggs. I also got pork sausage, which was good. There were a ton of potatoes, which were well seasoned and tasty. The biscuit was crispy on the outside and soft in the center. Outstanding. My husband got the challah caramel French toast with over easy eggs and chicken sausage. It looked really good and he liked it. He said the sausage was just okay. Went to the Giants vs Nationals game on Sunday. Wanted to eat before going inside, so stopped at Silver Diner pre-game. There was a small wait to get seated, but service was quick once we were ready. I got the Old Bay fried shrimp, my wife got an omelette from the all-day breakfast, and our son got grilled cheese with tomato bisque. Everything was very good. Portion size was good too. Was worried about having too much and it going to waste since we wouldn't have been able to take leftovers into the stadium. But what we ordered was the perfect size for a pre-game meal. They had an awesome graphic on the wall as well, of old Griffith Stadium, where the Senators used to play before they moved. I love Silver Diner. So when my friend and I woke up hungry with little motivation to leave the house, I ordered an Uber eats delivery. I haven't been to Silver Diner in years, so I was really thrilled to see a vegan breakfast taco on the menu with my favorite guilty pleasures (processed veggie substitutes) Just Egg. I also ordered a side of veggie sausage and biscuits just because it was on the menu. The tacos were great and I loved the side salad, quinoa and pickled onion situation that came with it. My side orders became snacks for later but the biscuits were on the sweeter side which isn't my favorite. We really enjoyed our brunch here! Love that they have outdoor seating and a number of vegan/plant-based options. We got the Just Egg breakfast tacos, oat milk protein pancakes, and sweet potato fries. Everything came relatively quickly and was delicious, and good portion sizes. Love this place! Ate here SEVERAL times while visiting D.C. . Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Everything I tried was awesome. They had many options that were gluten free and dairy free that were actually delicious! The service was good as well. Everyone was friendly. There was ample seating. They also serve delicious margaritas. Our family went back several times just for the milkshakes....including dairy free! The dairy free hibiscus mango shake sounded questionable but was insanely awesome!!!! Avocado toast...delicious! Hamburger, no cheese on an actually yummy GF bun with asparagus that I ordered three times and not once did I get a tough piece of asparagus, was great. I was pretty excited to check out Silver Diner with my sister while I was in DC visiting her, especially because they were promoting their 35th anniversary. I had the waffles with the side of pork sausage. I additionally ordered 2 biscuits. They brought the biscuits out first, which was fine but I found them to be kind of crumbly. I typically like my biscuits to be so that you can cut them in half to butter them and they maintain their structural integrity. I found these biscuits pretty hard to butter, but I was also visiting from the south so take that with a grain of salt! The waffles were fine and so were the sausages. Something weird we ran into with the service was when my friend ordered an iced coffee and did not enjoy it. She tried to send it back and the waitress pushed her to re-order the iced coffee a different way rather than simply taking it off her ticket. While she did eventually take the coffee off of my friend's bill, the interaction felt pushy and salesy. It might just be how they train their servers, but it's worth noting. read more

I stopped by this navy yard location for midday lunch, I've generally had good dining experiences with this chain and was really just looking for a spot with some all day breakfast options in addition to lunch. The location itself is clean with your typical booth seating and large windows. I was seated pretty quickly and the waiter was punctual and polite. The menu features app like old bay wings, shrimp quesadillas, and avocado toast ($16-$20), various salad and bowl options with protein add-on options ($13-$20), all day breakfast options like omelettes and griddle combinations, and entrees like free-range turkey platter, flat iron steak, and shrimp scampi ($23-$29). I decided to order the apple pie-stuffed French toast, egg whites, chicken sausage, and the flat iron steak. The food took quite awhile to come out but I assumed that was due to the steak dish. As for the items themselves the apple pie French toast was pretty good the combination of vanilla creme and the caramel drizzle was perfect although the "stuffed" description of the dish was a bit misleading as the ingredients were simply layered between the two slices of toast. The chicken sausage was decent but a bit overcooked which was evident when trying to cut it. As for the steak dish unfortunately the garlic spinach side ended up being the highlight for me, the steak itself was disappointing, cooked medium-well as requested at least but was completely devoid of any seasonings or flavor. It does come with blue cheese butter which if you're a fan it may save the dish for you but I was anticipating an already seasoned steak prior to having to add any additional condiments. Was heading to a game with the fam. I'm a fan of Silver Diner so we went there to eat and it is conveniently across the street from the stadium. Naturally, you'll pay a little more for that convenience. The service was good and they definitely had the proper amount of workers there. The place is clean and it's absolutely a chill ambiance that you'll have with the outdoor seating. The inside seating is a little dark and not my cup of tea but on a sunnier day, I assume it's better. We all ordered different types of burgers. We ate at the Silver Diner Navy Yard last night. Our first time. The service was quick and the adult food was excellent. I want to leave a review for the kids menu. My 5 year old ordered a grilled cheese with apple sauce. My friends... this was the world's worst grilled cheese. It was not made with butter or orange cheese. It was white bread, dry toasted, with some nameless white cheese in the middle. I took a bite... it was tasteless. Literally the worst grilled cheese I have ever ingested. I wasn't even mad when my kid wouldn't eat it. It was unpalatable. Do better. I know kids are picky... but make a grilled cheese as nature intended. I want a full butter fry with orange cheese. I didn't order this to be healthy, but to have a full and happy gastronomic experience. Also... it was $8. Ridiculous for food even my dog wouldn't eat. Again... the adult food was exceptional. Probably the coolest and biggest silver diner I've been to. Stopped by for a bite before catching a Nats game with my family. They have a cool upstairs area too. Staff was really friendly, food was better than I remembered for silver diner...although before this time I haven't eaten at one in a few years. I think their revamp really helped/worked. It doesn't seem as much of a lame classic diner anymore. It's more of a full on restaurant with an extensive menu...maybe too extensive? I was basic and had avocado toast, but it was good. read more

But one of my go to spots to eat especially after hanging with friends for cocktails and fun is Silver Diner. For those later evening meals to sit and relax with friends. The food is fast, fresh and vibrant. I especially like the hanger steak meal and the chicken pot pie is mouthwatering. Don't forget to check out their shakes with premium Tillamook ice cream. The service there is very good and usually engaging as they are warm, genuine and welcoming. At times the food takes a little longer than others but they are always keeping you updated as to timing, which I appreciate. Nothing worse than a server that ignores you when things go a little sideways. Great for brunch as well especially with the upstairs Silver Social option and their fabulous happy hour. I was excited to see more late night dining options opening in Navy yard, and eager to try this spot out. When we arrived, it was fairly busy, but we were promptly seated. The service left a bit to be desired. I'm not sure if our server was overwhelmed, or new, or both, but I could tell she was a bit in over her head while waiting on us. A big selling point for this spot is that they serve all day brunch, even during the week, so that's what we ordered. We got the apple pie stuffed French toast (with strawberry and bananas added), and the fried chicken and french toast. We also ordered a couple of cocktails along with our food. I didn't care for the breading on the chicken and it could have used more seasoning, but the french toast was fine. Also, they must use the term "stuffed" quite loosely - the apple and creme toppings were just on the french toast and plate. Nonetheless, my friend said it tasted fine as well. We were extremely disappointed with the cocktails that we ordered. I also got the feeling that the bartender was either new or unlicensed. When I asked for an espresso martini, they literally gave me a martini (or chilled vodka) and a shot of espresso on the side. I was flabbergasted lol. I did ask the server to take it back, and she had another bartender make one that looked/tasted more authentic. My friend ordered the Strawberry Hennessy, but we're almost positive they didn't have all the ingredients listed on the menu to make it, and so they just threw something together. Due to the lackluster drinks and okay service, Im not sure if I would fully recommend this place. However, it's an okay option as a last resort. read more

We were looking for a place to go after enchant, and this was one of the only places open, and it wasn't bad. I feel like it's like Denny's if Denny's was trying too hard. We wanted just something easy on the stomach and soothing for the soul so we ordered some sweet potato fries and a chicken noodle soup. The soup was smaller than we expected and not as soothing as we wanted ):. We wish it was hotter, and the noodles were kinda mushy, and the sweet potato fries were kinda salty.
