Heaven I found by accident! 11/08/21
    Marianne W.

Silver Moon Bakery was one of my accidental finds. I'm sorry to say I didn't get back there as much as I wanted. Now they are closing by the end of March. Owning 200k in rent they decided not to fight the landlords decision to not renew their lease. If you live nearby you should stock up on their delicious artisanal breads! I'm feeling sorry for the owners for the loss of their business after 24 years. I doubt they will open elsewhere. I think I heard they are retiring. My mouth is watering thinking about their delicious breakfast treats.

I came here for their sourdough bagels and it didn't disappoint! I got the all seeds and sesame bagels. I would prefer the all seeds bagel without the sunflower seeds and I could also go for a bit more sourdough flavor but overall they were good. It didn't take me long to get it and price it's standard ($5,5 for both - with no spread!). Their breads and pastries looked amazing so I might try some next time!

Nice local bakery with lots of options. They have amazing sourdough bagels and bread! I had my first ever sourdough bagel here, and my bagel experience has been forever changed! I've also tried their plain brioche (good) and cinnamon brioche (better). The inside is small, but you can see all the goods for sale! There is sometimes a small line but it moves fast, and the workers are friendly. There is also some seating outside.

Today I decided to buy a sandwich. Feta cheese with Dijon mustard, tomato, and lettuce on Ethiopian bread. How flavorful! So delicious. I also got a little bag of chocolate chip cookies to give to my friend . Service was very, very wonderful . I will definitely come back

Overpriced pastries and cake. Over $9 for a tart or cake, it is ridiculous. The 2 $$ signs on yelp should be corrected to $$$$.

I'm a fan of baked goods, and whenever there's an opportunity for me to try a new bakery I jump on it. Silver Moon Bakery was brought to my attention after some family friends who live on the UWS let me know the bakery had a good reputation in the neighborhood. That was enough for me, and made it my intention to check it out. Silver Moon has a good selection of baked goods, and I was able to try out two of their tarts: the fresh berry and the lemon. Both were presented beautifully; the berry had a plethora of blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries sitting atop a custard. The lemon was simply but effectively decorated with powdered sugar and a single lemon slice. In terms of taste, I liked the lemon way more than the berry. The former had big lemon flavor without being overpowering, honestly everything you want out of a lemon tart. I didn't love the berry one as much - the fruit was fresh, but the custard had zero flavor at all. Perhaps that was done on purpose as to not fight with the sweetness of the fruit, but the blandness was really off-putting. Despite my disappointment with the berry tart, that lemon one was great - and it gives me hope that their other bakes are just as good. I definitely want to return to explore more of their offerings.

Really good bread! The semolina is incredible. Their sourdough bagels are also excellent.

Visiting from out of town, when my daughter's boyfriend took us to a bakery in his old neighborhood that he grew up in. We had a sample of few things and it was all very good. I give it a perfect rating because he said the smell instantly reminded him of his younger days and he was so happy to show it off. Well done Silver Moon.

This bakery does an excellent job of making high quality pastries and desserts. We got one of their lemon tarts that blew us away. This dessert is so flavorful has a really good amount of tartness to it. The bakery itself has a class window of many different types of desserts you can buy there. It is a small store, but they make a huge variety of items. I will definitely return this location as I am sure they have a bunch of other fantastic desserts.

You have to go in person to join the waitlist, and the staff will not seat you unless your full party is there. It is always fun going on the weekend because they have specialty menu items. The food is consistently tasty and served very quickly. A few highlights include: - Banh Chung | Crispy Rice Cake: A solid starter to share among two to four people. The texture is chewy with a light crispiness on the outside. There is also a vegetarian option. - Vegetarian Curry: A savory yellow curry made with a coconut milk base. Really appreciate the variety of seasonal vegetables included. - Bun Ca Hai Phong | Fried Fish and Tomato Noodle Soup: Highly recommend getting this during the weekend! A nice alternative to the typical meat-based dishes. The tilapia is lightly fried, so the tomato broth does not become overly heavy, and the dill helps cut through any extra oil to balance out the flavors. - The beef noodle soups are also very good, but are more classic options. The rice platters are great to share since the portions are generously sized. The staff are always friendly and helpful throughout the meal. Service is very fast, especially considering the restaurant has always been full.

First of all, I have to mention the prices: we got 6 pastries and 2 hot chocolates for just over $40: a steal in this economy. Second, it was mostly authentic: the "francia krémes" (which they call a "Napoleon" here for some reason) was quite close to how they serve it in Hungary, save for the caramelized and sickeningly sugary top (which I skipped). The "dobos torta" had the reverse problem: its top--the eponymous "drum"--was authentic, but the meat of it far, far too chocolatey. Guys, a slice of "dobos" is NOT supposed to put you in a diabetic coma! It is not even meant to be very chocolatey! It is supposed to be much more subtle, even savory. The pastries we took home, which included several "rétesek," received high reviews as well. The servers were nice, but did not speak Hungarian. My only other critique would be that the space is incredibly cramped. You will be elbow-to-elbow with various Columbia students. My companion also told me the bathroom was filthy. If you're OK with these rougher spots, though, this cozy café is worth a visit if you want a peak at the "old country."

The staff answered they had no lemonade. We were very confused because they did not mention that they were out of lemonade when we ordered or even when they handed us the order. It was kinda unbelievable that they would just gave this strawberry syrup water to us when we ordered strawberry lemonade. The staff offered us another free drink after and I just got a matcha latte. Fairly poor experience here. While I appreciated them offering us another drink after we complain, not every one feels comfortable complaining. If we didn't complain, we would've wasted $7.
