I came here for a quick snack and I will definitely be back. I ordered a cheese puff which was quite tasty and I always get excited when I see dog treats. The cheese puff was great; soft and a mild cheese flavor. Everything was about $3.50 which to me is a really good price. I want to come back to try other items. They also have outdoor seating which was the perfect fit for today's great weather. I do think someone should clean the tables regularly. Today was my last day at my hospital site for rotations so I decided to get something for the staff. I got the Berry Fruit Tart. And oh my goodness. BEST fruit tart ever. I happened upon this bakery after having lunch at Tom's Diner down the block. I've heard the Silver Moon name, so we thought we'd check it out. I'd never been here before, so I needed more than 2 seconds to make my decision. The guy behind the counter said, "What can I get for you?" the split second I walked up to the display. I guess I needed to order quickly, despite there being nobody else in the store. He stood there. Give a person a sec to see what you have for sale. I felt pressured to make my choice. They didn't have much of a selection, so it was pretty easy to choose. I ordered 2 things : Oatmeal Cookie and Palmier. Both I usually love. The oatmeal cookie was cakey, not chewy. it was thick and had a cake texture as opposed to a cookie texture. It also had very little flavor. I'd say it was one of the most boring oatmeal cookies I've ever had. The palmiers I have had in the past have either had sugar sprinkled throughout or on top and this one had almost no sugar at all. So happy that this bakery is still open during COVID times! Their bakers are still hard at work cranking out delicious breads and pastries. I got the Nutella custard cruffin and chocolate chip brioche and both were solid options!! What I loved about both is that they weren't overly sweet like I expected. The cruffin is definitely on the messier side to eat but it was huge and so worth it to satisfy a sweet breakfast craving, but I thought that was a very solid choice. We were walking past the bakery and decided to go into the bakery after smelling the amazing scents coming from inside. The bakery is cute and small with a few tables outside to sit. They only allow 5 people inside at a time and you must wear a mask inside. They have a wide variety of breads and pastries. They also have a full coffee menu. I ended up getting the gruyere cheese bread, the cinnamon brioche, and an iced latte. The cinnamon brioche was really good, but it wasn't super special. The gruyere cheese bread was just good on it's own but I bet it would make a great sandwich or grilled cheese. You can get any of their breads sliced which was really nice. The latte was good. At the beginning of December I ordered and paid $58 for Buche de Noel to be picked up at 10 AM December 23. I was shown a pretty cake. It was the center of our party table. However, when touched with a knife, it fell apart: icing fell off in sheets, the cake crumbled. It was inedible. Silver Moon Bakery has an incredibly cute outdoor aesthetic. There are no seating spaces inside, but chairs and tables in front on the patio, that's covered by a dark blue awning. I had a chai latte and an icing covered raisin morning bun. The chai latte was disappointing. It was watered down and of the spicy variety (and in my opinion the worst variety). The icing covered pastry was alright, but would have been nice if it were warmed up a bit, which I did when I got home. I'd like to go again and try more, specifically their mocha, but when I went they were out of chocolate. They must be doing something right, because Saturday morning, there is a line out the door. I don't know many bakeries that still bake fresh bread so that was nice. read more

Terrible service!! I ordered a cold brew and pastries. After I paid the person that checked me out went downstairs or the back and one lady hands me a hot coffee, I then said ordered a cold brew which I wasn't told they don't have so I said just make it iced. She goes to their POS and prints the order and raises her voice telling me what I ordered and pushes the drink to me. She goes "If you want iced I'm gonna have to charge you" obviously I will pay for the difference but I will not pay for another drink and goes to try to argue with we again about they don't have cold brew and what I ordered is large hot coffee. I literally had to tell her I will pay for the difference but will not pay for another drink because I will not be taking it. Stop yelling at your customers, it's not even busy when I walked in. read more

When I step inside a bakery I've never been to before, I like to take my time and look at everything inside the display case. But the cashier person seemed a little impatient with me. I don't know why. It was still light out and a couple of hours before closing time. Still, I was in need of a sugar fix and some snacky breakfast things. Almond Croissant - buttery & flaky with plenty of almond slivers Eclair - unimpressive, and a little deflated. The chocolate topping didn't taste very good. Glazed Brioche - This was more like sugary icing on top of bread to me. I was surprised to see everyone giving high remarks to the brioche. I myself found it a little dense. Came by here in the morning I think twice. This place won't have all the breads available every single day at every single hour. So, personally, I would not recommend you come as soon as they open, since some items will not be ready. Of the times I've been here, I got the cheddar chive roll and the... california bread? California roll? I'm not really sure actually what it's called, but the name of the bread definitely has the word "california" in it. Anyways, the last bread that I got was a cinnamon roll. All breads were pretty good, but nothing really stood out. I am kind of annoyed that breads are not made all at the same time, since I was hoping to get the cinnamon roll again the second time I came, but it wasn't ready. The coffee here is okay, and they take card- doesn't appear to be a minimum payment. I'm not familiar with other bakeries in this area, but I feel like this is the only one other than paris baguette, which is down about 9 blocks- not exactly close. Cute little bakery on the corner of 105th and Broadway in the upper west side. Don't underestimate the quality of the baked goods from the impression of the tiny storefront! First impression: A quintessential NYC bakery store Food: I only got a almond chocolate croissant. It was a relatively small croissant but it was very filling. It was not like a bag of chips where most of the croissant is just air. Besides chocolate filling, the bread had a sweet paste (maybe lemon cream?) in it and it hit the spot. I hear this French and Jewish bakery also makes delicious cupcakes, challah, and macaroons too! Atmosphere: nice and casual. Prime people watching opportunity with seating outdoors. I bought the chocolate chip brioche and chocolate babka. The brioche was amazing! I loved the darkness of the chocolate filling contrasted with the granular sweetness of the sugar sprinkled on top. The chocolate babka on the other hand left something to be desired. It was certainly dense with chocolate and had nice braids but I wish the chocolate flavor was less sweet and more akin to the deepness of the chocolate chip brioche. So, I am a lover of pies. Almost all types of pies and a while back we got a Strawberry-Rhubarb pie from the Silver Moon bakery. It was great, 5-star and very delicious. As a result, for this Thanksgiving, we decided to get an Apple Pie and a Pumpkin Pie from the bakery. Since they were almost $35 each, I expected something great. Boy, was I disappointed. The Pumpkin Pie was darker than I have ever seen, too sweet and a real average crust. The Apple Pie was even worse. The crust was hard. Instead of being flaky, it had the consistency of cardboard. I could barely taste the apples. We could have gotten better pies at any grocery store and paid around $10 each instead of the $35 each. Won't happen again. read more
