I came here and got some baked goods. The ham and cheese was my favorite. All of them were light if that's your type of baked good. The prices were a little steep but also not necessarily more than they are worth. There is a line, but the place is beautiful. And the flavors are interesting and worth trying.
I love this place! Worth all the hype to me!! (Specifically this location) I had the cardamom latte! I chugged that down! The cardamom bun was to die for! I dream of it! The machine was so cool! The baristas were so cool! I loved it! I always wish it was a bigger inside to sit more but it was just so busy in there!
Came for the croissants and they did not disappoint. I showed up before opening and didn't have to wait too long to try the pastries. I know La Cabra is known for their cardamom bun but whoever said to come for the croissants was onto something. The plain and chocolate croissants are some of the better ones I've had so I'd say these are hyped to the correct degree. Definitely excited to come back to eat the croissants again and grab a coffee.
I was in the neighborhood and needed a little treat. It had been a minute since my last visit to La Cabra so I decided to stop in. I overheard the server talking about the chocolate croissants, so I was an easy decision when it was my turn to pace an order. And as always, my usual ice latte. (A side note - I am just learning that often the difference in the "size" of ice latte is the amount of milk, not the amount of espresso. For example, both the small and large latte have 2 shots of espresso. The only difference is that the large has more milk than the small. Wild, right?!) The chocolate croissant shattered when I bit into it - it was amazing. 5/5 would order again.
Now, I spent $16 on a pastry and two coffees this afternoon... Then I found this place. Generally, I don't go for sugary drinks so I go for an Americano with some creamer and this coffee had that floral aromatic taste and creamy texture from the cream that I like and it was perfect and it went well with the almond croissant with that custard in the middle. I'm definitely coming back here to get a good cup of coffee and this coffee was iced and yes, I know we just got over a blizzard, but it actually went pretty well.
Truthfully, I do not have enough good things to say about the drinks and pastries at La Cabra. Granted I am a sucker for danish coffee and pastries, but La Cabra does them to perfection. You can tell they care a lot about the art of making coffee here, and you can taste it in every sip. The interior design is also phenomenal. I will keep coming back for the rest of my days in NYC!
I was excited to try the cardamom bun because people kept raving about it and I most likely over hyped it in my mind. It was good not mouth wateringly amazing and something I'll dream about getting again. The line gets long but that's what's expected. From entering the store to the actual ordering it took maybe 15 mins and another 10 to get our drinks. Coffee was tasty, next time I'll need to try their matcha.
This has the best cardamom buns in the city -- and you can quote me on that. I've had other cardamom buns at other cafes, but no one tops La Cabra. Not only is the bun nice and soft, but it's also deliciously sticky with the syrup that they glaze it with and potent with a strong cardamom flavor. They have other offerings as well: their pain au chocolat is so flaky, you just know the bakers spent so much time and care laminating the dough to ensure maximum layers! Drinks are good too. I got their matcha latte, which was pretty good. The art on it is so impressive!! And the ambience is very chic and modern. It can get busy, and since the shop is small, seating is limited, but for me, the best way to visit is to get your items to go and sit at the park bench across the way.
In NY, it is not uncommon to visit a bakery, cafe, bagel shop, or some other kind of eatery that has garnished a lot of hype yet doesn't quite deliver that 'wow' factor for you. I say that to say, La Cabra is NOT one of those places and IS as advertised, if not better! From the clean minimalistic aesthetic (which is totally my vibe), to the pastry presentation, to the taste of said pastries, to the great coffee/teas, AND to the amazing staff, they really just deliver. My go-to order is always a cardamom bun if they're still available because they slap every single time! They have the best cardamom buns I've had to date. They are a must-try if you haven't had them yet. I also tried their cappuccino with oat milk for the first time and guess what? That's right, the cappucino was great too! If you like almond croissants, give them a try too. They are not shy with the almonds! 10/10 experience and I will be back for more
La Cabra is what my ideal coffee shop would be. Clean lines, a nice vibe/energy the moment you walk in, and I love their focus on the details. The baristas helpful, cool and not pretentious. The coffee has to be so good otherwise (and for some people maybe they do) the pastries would steal the show. My wife and I split a chocolate croissant and the Cardamom Pastry (amazing!). I love a place that cares about all the details and quality, not just presentation. Sadly I only got over here for one day of my trip to NYC but they have a seriously good coffee line-up and will be a must visit for all future trips. read more

This review is solely for the pastries I tried at La Cabra. There's always a line out the door, so expect to wait at least a good 15-20mins.. I didn't mind waiting as i've heard such great things about their pastries. Although, I didnt try the cardamom one- I was still underwhelmed. Good flavors that could have been great if they kept the pastries warm intheir display or warmed them up before giving them to you. I waited in line for cold pastries.. not worth it to me, unless you're the first one at the door when they open. read more
Interior is nice, it has about 4-5 tables with extra chairs/stools but no restrooms like most NYC bakeries. I made a mistake of getting a mocha instead of a baked item - unfortunately doesn't look like it is their strong suit. The mocha was mostly bitter and sour without a hint of chocolate. The staff who took my order and server who brought me my drink were nice and pleasant. In hindsight, instead of the mocha I should have gotten their cardamom bun which they are known for. Hopefully soon! read more

Delicious pastries, excellent coffee, warm staff. Possibly the best hot chocolate in the city. Interior design is a bit too revolutionary for my taste. And, perhaps because we came later in the day, the pastries were stone cold. Altogether, I highly recommend. read more

Absolutely delightful cardamom bun, with a tender crumb and cardamom flavor that shines but doesn't overwhelm and balances well with the mild sweetness of the bun. It's busy inside with a short efficient line and not much space for seating so best to grab and go. read more

One of my friends bring me here and the vibes here were amazing. I got one of the cardamom lattes and it was soooo good I crave this regularly and wish I could have it where I live. I will def innately be coming back here on my nyc trips. The pastry's were good and the latte is a must. Didn't take that long to serve either and the line moved fairly quickly but was worth the wait! Would definitely recommend read more
Really enjoyed this cafe and quiet spot! The ambience was really nice and even to catch up with a friend it was very quiet and chill and not a loud working cafe vibe (so also don't expect to be working and taking meetings here). I enjoyed the cardamom latte and bun and it was very clean and aesthetic in the cafe. Would be back! read more
Decent cafe with good beverage and pastry selection. I tried the iced matcha latte and it was a good standard latte, and also tried their popular cardamom bun (too much cardamon imo but the dough is really chewy and fresh). Staff were very friendly, and wish they incorporated more seating. read more
I'm not a coffee drinker, so I actually went to La Cabra for the pastries. On a Sunday around 1PM, there was still a bit of a line though it wasn't quite out the door. There were only a couple of tiny tables / benches, so it can be difficult to find seating if you're hoping to enjoy your drinks / snacks right away. It didn't seem like they had run out of any of the baked goods though even into the afternoon. Cardamom Bun (4.25/5/5): The cardamom flavor is VERY strong and at first, it took me a bit to get used to. The actual bread has a nice chew and bounce with a bit of sweetness from the sugar glaze. Super unique and definitely worth trying. Apricot Tahini Carrot Cake Tart (4.25/5): This was their seasonal tart and it was a dessert with strong savory notes. The ratios were a little off to me (I wanted a bit more cake to mousse and jam), but the textures individually were all stand out - great crumbly shell with smooth mousse and moist cake. read more
Came by La Cabra while walking around NYC and tried the Espresso + Milk and a hot Matcha Latte. Both drinks were super clean, well-made, and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. If you're someone who likes your drinks unsweetened or more traditional, this place is definitely for you. The espresso + milk had a strong coffee flavor but still smooth, and the matcha had a nice earthy taste without being bitter. That said, I'm usually someone who prefers sweeter drinks, so it was a little hard to finish without adding any sugar or syrup. But I still appreciated how well-balanced and intentional the drinks were. The shop has a clean, minimal vibe that's nice to chill in or grab something to go. If you're into no-frills, high-quality coffee and tea, this is a solid spot to check out. read more
One of the best bakeries I've ever been to. Did wait in line on Saturday afternoon. They were not sold out and had many options which was great. The artichoke croissant blew my mind. It was absolutely delicious. The pain suisse which is what the guy at the counter recommended was also yummy but just didn't even compare to the artichoke one. Would highly recommend this bakery. We went here after visiting Librae and Hani's - a group of people we met said we needed to get the coffee. The coffee was pretty good. We were more impressed with the vibe of the place, the way the baristas were lovingly preparing the cups of joe and the delicious array of baked goods. I didn't do my research and didn't know we were supposed to get the cardamom buns, on top of which I had just eaten two chocolate chip cookies from the other bakeries! I'd definitely love to come back to La Cabra to relax and hang out - if you can get a seat! read more
The cardamom bun was delicious, but I would probably only get it if you happen to be in the area. Not necessarily a place I'd go out of my way for. That being said, everyone working there was very kind and helpful. Very little seating, but it feels cozy. The cold brew was...not good. Maybe get anything but that. read more

A bit too long of a wait for what you get but if you happen by when there's no line definitely try their matcha latte (strong flavor and not watered down) and cardamom bun (so fluffy and great chew). It's a nice morning treat combo! read more
A very solid place for coffee and matcha. Probably one of the most consistent in both. Not the BEST matcha but very solid nonetheless. Espresso is superb and the croissants are top tier. Hojicha was a lil scalding but the ujimatcha had a perfect temperature. Gets pretty busy and it is a little small inside. Always have gotten to go since i can never get a seat with my party. However, it is NYC so everyone is usually on the go. Very aesthetic with the drinks being made right in front of you. The Croissants are VERY flaky, had the meat ones, regular ones, chocolate ones. Pretty solid. Priced fairly with everything else in NYC. read more
La Cabra Coffee. If you ever cross by one of these cafes get in and try it. They were in my list when I visited Copenhagen and I was thrilled when I found them again in NY a few days ago. Although the line was long, the hype at La Cabra was real! We got their cardamom bun and black sesame pineapple cake. Both pastries were delicious and very unique. For drinks, we got their chai latte and matcha latte. The chai latte, especially, was very comforting on a cold day. The staff was very friendly. There were some seats available, however they were all occupied by customers. Would return! read more

I tried the Pain Suisse and I thought it was alright. It was nice and fresh because I went right when they opened on a weekday morning. The top was a bit more crumbly than I anticipated and the flavors of the filling weren't super strong. I would maybe try some other pastries if I came here again like their cardamom bun. Service was quick and there are a few tables to sit and work inside. read more
Just get the cardamom bun. Don't bother with anything else (you'll only wish you'd gotten more cardmom buns). Heavenly chewy texture, sweet and spiced; it's the perfect winter breakfast. I enjoyed mine across the street in front of St. Mark's. read more
I get the hype. They ran out of the cardamom buns but I was able to try the saffron bun and it was amazing. Super soft and the right amount of sweetness. Perfect for dipping in coffee or chai. The vibes are also super cool and service was great. For sure will go back soon! read more
La Cabra, they are some serious coffee connoisseurs! The barista was making my wifes coffee and startled me, she said no! She threw out the coffee, I guess the temperature wasn't right? Ever see that at Starbucks? They slop it all in a cup and send you on your way. La Cabra, I had it book marked for a while. There was no line thankfully and had wonderful baked goods on display. I chose a Cannelé de Bordeaux, Cardamon bun, an OUTRAGEOUS cookie as well as my two lattes. Once my order was complete, I walked to the car and gave my wife her coffee. I opened the box and once we saw the wonderful bakery assortment, it was game on! The Cannelé de Bordeaux, IMHO was better at La Cabra than Dominique Ansel Bakery. The cookie had a christmas-gingerbread-esc cream filling, also very good. La Cabra, You are the Goat to me. read more
The hype is real. The pastries here are really good. Unfortunately they ran out of the cardamom buns before we got there so we couldn't try it, but we tried a variety of pastries. The pain au chocolat & saffron bun & almond croissant were delicious and incredibly flaky and flavorful. Will definitely be coming back to try more flavors! Only deducting a star bc we did order a ham & cheese but we didn't have it in our takeout box. Definitely recommend coming here! read more
La Cabra was hands down my favorite coffee and pastry shop in NYC. I got their Orange Cardamom iced latte every time (I went 3-4 times) and it was excellent. Their house made loaf is amazing, as is their pan du chocolate. They had great service and were always super fast despite the enormous line that I found every time I came. Not a lot of places to sit because it is always so packed, but that's not their fault. Really cute little shop. I wish we had one in Phoenix, but that would be dangerous. :) read more
