I've visited this place today and I ordered two dishes one was string beans . The string beans were OK the other dish that I ordered was fried calamari. This dish was awful it was overpriced and very little of a bad dish. The quality of the food was subpar I can assume that the sushi could be better I refuse to ever try it again I give this place a negative star. read more

I am from out of town and found this restaurant through Yelp. It was the closest sushi restaurant to where I am staying. I ordered 4 rolls for take out. Very good sushi, very well assembled and displayed. This is clearly a family business. If I lived nearby, I would frequently go here for sushi. Usually not the type to complain but I ordered the caterpillar roll and it had unagi in the center. Worst part is that the fish wasn't properly deboned! The larger bones were still left in it. Thought it was just the first piece but ate another piece and there was more bones. Pretty upset because I have bones stuck in my throat and its hard to gulp anything down. This was our first time ordering from silver ocean. We are big sushi lovers. We probably eat it at least once a week. Living in the hilltop it can be hard to find good local sushi restaurants without having to drive a good 20+ minutes. I ordered the 49ers, a salmon hand roll, and salmon nigiri (I love salmon if you can't tell). My husband ordered a couple rolls I cannot recall exactly what. But I was impressed. Everything was fresh and delicious! We both enjoyed our meals. The one and only downside was the soy sauce given. I'm a bit of a soy snob when it comes to sushi. And the soy they give is the one you normally get from a Chinese restaurant and I prefer the red kikkoman packs with my sushi. Again not a big deal, we had some at home, but that was the one thing that was a bummer for me. Don't let it stop you from trying this place. We will be back. read more

Some dishes that we recommend are the shrimp fried rice, Hong Kong style pan-fried noodles, spicy eggplant, chicken with green beans, tomato beef chow mein, salt and pepper pork chop and mongolian beef. Those were some ribs in red sauce. No taste, nothing. Walnut pop prawns battered soaked in grease like it was extra grease added. The rice was nasty and lacked any flavor. Rice made with green onions and about 7 shrimp maybe ssd's oy sauce? That's all. Singapore noodles just okay needed curry? Never again. I never ordered take-out from them and boy am I happy I did! So happy with my order! It was still piping hot when I got home. The Walnut Shrimps are super tasty, but its tempura battered so if you are a fan of the cornstarch and mayonnaise then its not for you. This family owned restaurant is amazing! We originally ordered through UberEats, but when the driver got here, she decided to drive away with our food and cancel the order! We called Silver Ocean right after it happened and asked if they would remake our order and they were more than happy to, even though they had just closed! My husband and I are so appreciative of them for doing that because we were starving. The best part of this whole experience is that we weren't disappointed!! The food was great! We got the sunset roll, dragon roll, and Mexican roll. They were all delicious but our favorite was the Mexican roll. For sushi we had a (forgot the name) philly roll (smoked salmon, cream cheese, avo), salmon sashimi (thick portions), and a Berto Roll (avocado/shrimp tempura inside, and yellowtail on the outside, crunchy flake and some sauce I don't remember) everything came very fresh and tasty. The Korean Noodle Soup of course. It was out of this world good. Broth was super tasty and rich. I ordered mild spicy and it was just the right amount of heat. Lots of tender beef and chicken and delicious pop-in-your-mouth fresh shrimp, veggies and lots of egg noodles. Really large portion too. Search for decent Chinese delivery in the East Bay continues. Ordered 6 items + 2 rice for a large group. No one was very much excited about any item. $3 steamed rice came in tiny cartons. It's STEAMED RICE, for Heaven's sake. You can't send a full-sized carton for $3??? Order included Kung Pow Chicken and Chicken Chow Mein, and both were equally flavorless and UN-spicy. The Mongolian Beef had a little kick and some flavor, probably the best dish of the bunch, but still no more than mediocre. Sweet and Sour Pork was like eating kitchen sponges. One step short of gelatinous. Will not repeat, but so far no significantly better option to recommend between El Cerrito & Hercules. (Every single item that could leak did leak all over both bags. Can't say anything bad about this place, the food taste delicious and everything seems to be very fresh as well. You also can't beat the portions of the food either, me and my mom had went for take-out and spent about $40 and had way more then enough food for the both of us. When we as a family eat Chinese we always demolish the meal, but for the first time there were leftovers that were never eaten because the food just wasn't quite right. We got what we regularly order which is house fried rice, house chowmein, broccoli beef and sweet and sour pork, chicken, or prawns. We probably should have chosen better because the sweet and sour pork was not good. We have been searching for a good restaurant and sadly this one disappointed. read more
