What was supposed to be Sesame chicken was dried out breaded chicken with no sauce no flavor no nothing. we ordered a roll and some edamame which for everything we paid $46. This subpar food was way overpriced. The spicy was so spicy we couldn't even eat it. This explains why no one was in the restaurant and they probably won't be staying open for very much longer because their food has gone so far downhill. What I found about this place is that if you're not sitting at the counter, you don't get good food or service. We will not be back. read more

Wow - what can I say - other then I am so happy the 1st location was closed, that my date had chosen for dinner. Walking into Silver Sake was almost Cheers like. I still love this place! I pop in about once a month for my sushi fix. One of the things I love about this place that's different is that they have spicy red tobiko. Order anything with that on it! It's super good! One of my favs is still the garlic roll - Other delicious items: Pepperfin app, bacon wrapped scallops, and Silver Sake nachos. Camon's special balls are also pretty tasty. (Haha!) They carry Orion (my favorite Japanese beer), Sapporo, and loads of yummy sake. Usually I get the black bottled Gekkeikan with the gold label. But I think any of the Gekkeikan bottles are good. My two favorite sushi chefs in world are also here. Will and John are hilarious and will make you any creation you want. They are super accommodating about making you something you like. They also have fresh oysters on occasion. Those things are to die for. Did I mention they have a couple of flat screens for your sports viewing enjoyment? They'll even switch it to something you want if you request it. Camon the owner is super nice and is down to chat with you. This is our sushi spot! Consistently delicious. Fresh. Big menu. Lots of specials. I could go on and on, but honestly I love the energy of this place. The chefs are always having fun and it radiates into the entire restaurant. There's a very casual vibe and it feels like a regular's spot. Tried it for the first time tonight, take out of course. They were running a special on to-go orders which was nice of them since the industry is struggling so much right now. The staff was incredibly friendly, every single person who was involved in my order provided top notch customer service. 10/10 would come back just for the staff! As for the sushi, I got 3 rolls. The Scooby Doo, Best and 911. I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't like avocado, but they had no issue swapping that out for cucumber for me. All 3 were stellar. We've been going to Silver Sake for a few years, and have always enjoyed the food. Tonight, we ordered via Grubhub for pickup, and here's the first gotcha--Silver Sake does NOT use Grubhub anymore. On the listing for Silver Sake on Grubhub, it does say "closed"; we assumed that was because we were looking at it before their 5:00 p.m. opening time. The point is, it's still listed, and you can set up an order. We placed an order right around their opening time. Grubhub told us that it would be ready between 6:00 and 6:10 p.m. They sent us an email stating that the order was in progress. However, when I arrived at the restaurant at 6:10 to pick up my order, I was told that they did not get my order--because they no longer deal with Grubhub. I was surprised and disappointed, especially since Grubhub already took our money and cost us more than an hour of our time. They offered to have me place my order on the spot, so I did, and 20 minutes later, the food was ready. On another note, as of today, May 2, 2021, Sacramento County is still operating under the red tier health order for the Covid pandemic. This means, according to the Sacramento County website, that restaurants may operate with 25% seating, but must maintain social distancing, face covering, and sanitization. However, at Silver Sake, if you looked around, you'd almost think it was 2019 in there. The sushi bar was crowded with boisterous, laughing, maskless patrons. They were being served by three chefs--two of whom were wearing their masks below their noses, the third was fully masked. And of the two people who waited on me, one was fully masked, the other had their mask below the chin. I'm glad I'm fully vaccinated and had my KN95 mask on, since the restaurant doesn't seem to be taking their responsibility very seriously. I didn't want to wait for my food in this less than optimal setting, so I took a walk over to Grocery Outlet, where everybody was wearing masks, and observing social distancing. That was my quick reminder that yes, we are still in the pandemic. I wrestled with how many stars to give, but according to Yelp's definition, 2 stars means "could've been better". The Grubhub debacle was not Silver Sake's fault, and Silver Sake did their best with customer service. However, there must be a way to get Grubhub to take Silver Sake off their site. The food was ok. But I'm really shocked at the lack of social distancing and lack of concern for their customers. And I don't want any readers to try to order on Grubhub, and an hour later, come up empty. Please, Silver Sake, do a better job on Covid safety. Other restaurants have stepped up to the plate, and we will continue to patronize them. But we probably won't return to Silver Sake until we feel safe to do so. read more

I am very disappointing tonight with what use to be my favorite sushi restaurant and we use to go almost weekly for the 8 years. The last three times we have ordered for pick up has left us decided tonight that we will NOT be returning. We would have cancelled our order tonight except for the fact that we went through a third party to order since the website was not working and no one was answering the phones. After waiting an hour for the pick up time we were told that our order did not go through. We were asked if we still wanted the order. Not really wanting to wait we asked how to get our money back from the third party and we were told they had idea. So we got to wait another 30 mins for our order. Love this place! The sashimi is always fresh and delicious! The customer service is great, everyone is very attentive and makes sure that you're having a good time. They have some great deals for sake and they will make sure that you leave full and slightly tipsy! I forgot that the first time I went there I wasn't impressed but due to hunger, wanting sushi, needing to finish some paperwork ASAP and being in the area, I walked in. There were only three tables occupied. The waiter asked me what I wanted to drink. I told him and he came back with my beverage and a soup but with no spoon. I asked for a spoon and this guy took way over 5 minutes to bring it. He even went over to a customer sitting close by to bring her the check and still no spoon. Even after he walked in and out that area where he comes out of with food several times. A spoon doesn't weigh that much that it can't be carried on the opposite hand from the one carrying the check book. I asked him 3 times for this spoon. Do you guys know something I don't? Was that not soup? Was it to dip my fingers in, soak them and play with the tofu? Was I supposed to drink the soup out of the bowl? Enlighten me. I asked for a bento box. Salmon and California roll. That rice was cooked in tons of water. It was so mushy that once it hit the mouth the texture was really unpleasant. If I pressed it up to the roof of my mouth I could've turned it into paste. Then with the bento box you get a big ball of that same rice. I ate the salmon, it was just ok. I ate the rolls because that little piece of salmon wasn't enough to take the hunger away and I ate the iceberg lettuce with dressing. The place was also really dirty. The carpets looked like they had not been vacuumed in days. Mind you I walked in for an early lunch. Meaning it's not like they had a huge crowd there previously so it was most likely dirty from the night before and that's just gross for a restaurant. Im pretty sure if there is sushi heaven, this is it. I took out of town friends to check out this new to me place. Its nestled in a shopping center. Its small, and filled with neighborhood sushi lovers. The family atmosphere will pull you in, the amazing creations will keep you coming back. I had been at an event where Silver Sake was catering, and had a small taste of sushi nachos. WHAT?? nachos?? i knew after the taste, that i had to check this place out. Admittedly, I'm a sushi snob, and silver sake exceeded my expectations. We ordered the sushi nachos as an appetizer. They say we eat with our eyes, and my eyes were in 7th heaven! My tastebuds immediately followed suit. I have never seen another sushi restaurant serve this amazing creation. Seaweed lightly fried, serves as the " nachos". they are crisp, lightly flavored, and would make for a great nosh on their very own. But wait, there is more... the " dip". This wonderful mixture of sushi, with the seaweed nachos, OH EM GEEEE. The best taste sensation. Ever. Sitting at the sushi bar (normally not my go to spot in most sushi places) i loved seeing the amazing creations made right before my eyes. If you're a bacon lover, their scallop/shrimp bacon covered roll, is enough of two to share. The man sitting next to me offered me a piece to try. Thats how friendly this place is. Its like having dinner with a very large family. The couple sitting on the other side of us, were dining on the pepperfin, and they offered us a sample of theirs too :-) The overly busy sushi chef, did an amazing job paring our tastes with the perfect sushi rolls. It was really cool to be able to actually enjoy the nachos, and not have another plate of food shoved in front of us, but rather timed for us to take a few sips of sake, and actually ready for our sushi rolls. Be prepared to wait if you show up during the traditional dinner hour, but know that it is really worth the wait. Diners hint: Tuesdays are when they have their sushi specials. Great sushi. My coworker was the one who put this place on my radar. I'm never in Carmichael, but I was near Arden and decided to check the place out. It is located within a strip mall. The restaurant is a small hole in the wall. As long as the food was good, it didn't matter much to me. We came in a few minutes after noon, when they were supposed to open. The door wasn't unlocked yet, but they let us in after they saw us. What made me want to come here were the nachos. (It's not on the menu.) Instead of wonton chips, they had seaweed chips that accompanied the tuna mix. My friend and I both enjoyed them - so filling that I barely had room for my roll. It was also a bit pricy at $18. As for my roll, I had the T&A roll, because I like rolls that are seared. I preferred my friend's Scooby Doo roll though. It was wrapped in cucumber. It was light and you can taste the fish. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. I was almost finished with my roll before my friend got hers. We were offered a free Ramune soda. I don't drink soda, so I gave mine to her. Well it's been here for a while and we never knew! Staff was super friendly and very accommodating. We were referred here by a waiter at another restaurant and we are glad Ben told us about this place! We have a few go to sushi spots in our Rolodex but now we just added another! Every roll I've ever had here has been great. I would highly recommend the unagi nigiri and the Carmichael roll. The size of their unagi pieces are huge compared to any other sushi place I have ever been too. The only down fall is that service can be slow and they are always packed. But overall a really good place to get sushi out in the Sacramento/Carmichael area. read more

(Note, if you're closed, you're closed, if you're wondering what he wants, just tell him what you're willing to make.) the man said, well Togo If that's what you'll do, the owner replied, "na man, I'm closed" as the man politely walked out, the owner said to his "regulars" "man I don't need that!" We left, in a hurry, left the $20 dollar gift card for our next purchase. Racist or not, don't turn away hungry people because you don't feel like making a roll. You had another man there who was working hard to make food, I can guarantee he would have gladly made that man a few rolls and you would have had two returning customers. I was going to order some takeout from my all-time favorite restaurant here in California and couldn't click through to their website as it appears to be down for some reason so I came to Yelp. What a mistake because my blood pressure rose as it does after pigging out on sushi at Silver Sake with too much soy sauce. Who rated this restaurant with less than five stars? For those that truly love eating sushi, there is no substitute for this place. One of the low reviews noted the noise, well yes it is loud on occasion. This is due to the fact that from the owner Camon, to the sushi chefs Jon, June, Rodi or the serving staff including Matt, you are treated like family. Don't come here if you want a quiet experience.
