We had lunch here today. The menu was well thought out, and easy to choose items. Our server Adrian was knowledgeable and helpful with questions about ingredients. We ordered Pepperfin with pepper and sriracha on the side, gyoza, edemame, miso soup, and we each got different rolls. I got Unagi roll, Philly roll and Salmon Skin hand roll. Best Beloved got Over the Rainbow roll and Philly roll without avocado. He had hot tea to drink and I had a Coconut Island, and we also had ice water. Mine had lime slices. I asked Adrian what yamagobo was and he shared that it had the color and texture of a carrot, but wasn't a carrot. It is slightly pickled. I asked if I could sample it before choosing to have it as an ingredient in one of my rolls, and he checked with the sushi creators to make sure it was ok for me to have and then brought me some. The decor is very much a perfect combination of aquatic and Japanese fusion. There are 2 aquariums at the sushi bar its self, that are well maintained as well as a few large screens showing nature channels with sea life. Very impressive. The music was mostly 70s mix of pop-r&b-easy listening. We were celebrating Valentine's Day a day late because neither Best Beloved nor I care for the large crowds or the noise. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants. They've clearly worked through the kinks since opening, as the service was spectacular, they had everything in stock that we ordered, and the cocktails were on point! Our food was delicious and beautifully presented. We ordered nigiri, miso soup and a roll. The cocktails were creative and unique, not like anything I've had at other restaurants. The ambiance is modern and upscale. My only complaint is it's the same restaurant style as everywhere which is hard surfaces, hard surfaces, hard surfaces. That means it gets pretty loud once they're more than two or three tables seated. Restaurants designed like this could for sure benefit from some sound absorption - baffles hanging from the ceiling. I highly recommend trying the foxy mama roll here. The flavors were soooo good. I think this is a newish sushi spot and it is 100% worth checking out. I hope they do well and stick around because I'll be back for sure. Whether you get raw fish or a baked or fried roll all of it is equally good quality and flavorful. Such a great new sushi spot! Yo! You gotta check it out! We had their soft shell crab appetizer, and it was so delicious. The crab was nice and moist, and it was a good portion size for the price. We also have the lion King roll and the foxy mama, the foxy. Mama was definitely unique. It had fried leeks on top so yummy. They also have a full bar, which includes whiskey flights! The both cocktails were delicious, but the Guilded Orchid was my absolute favorite. It was fresh & fruity and will sneak up on you lol. The Miso came out piping hot and flavorful. The wakame salad was the BEST I've had, better than Mikuni by far. The presentation was beautiful, the cucumbers were a nice compliment and paired well with the salad and the seaweed was not slimy...Great Job! The Kings Roll was our favorite, with both the Spider Roll & Over the Rainbow coming in at close second. Everything was so good,I had to offer my compliments to the chefs. We have been here a few times, it is pretty good. I usually lean towards nigiri dishes. On the latest visit, my wife ordered the Chicken Teriyaki, and she enjoyed it. I ordered the Chirashi, which was very fresh and tasty. I also ordered the Scallop Royale, which was good, but maybe a little pricey for what it is. The best thing I ordered was the Kama, I chose the yellow tail cheek, it takes 20 minutes to prepare, and I didn't get a picture, but it was cooked and super tender and flavorful. Went back today ordered lunch to go asked to make sure everything was individually packed since there were meals for 5 people. We received one napkin, one set of chopsticks two packets of soy sauce, and one container of wasabi and ginger not enough to cover the orders that we purchased. we also ordered a drink and did not receive that. was very unsatisfied with today's service. We arrived at our family picnic lunch to have to eat with our hands. Please note we ordered spicy edamame and the containers are not meant for transportation. So very excited this business has come to the neighborhood. It's clean, convenient, and delicious. They have so much seating and lots of booths which I love. The service is awesome. The owners are so lovely and welcoming. The staff is attentive and excited to see you, and that just makes us feel good being there. There is a beautiful full bar with many selections. The coconut kiss was delicious. I upgraded the vodka to my preference. My friend loves the margaritas. The Pepperfin is torched but you can ask for it not to be. I prefer their sea steak after trying both for the albacore. The edamame is legit my most favorite over other sushi spots. We like it extra garlic and extra spicy. Gyoza cooked perfectly. Soft Opening [Sacramento CA] We dined at Sushi Yo for the first time during their soft opening phase. We came in at a good time around 6:30p as the restaurant was not busy... shortly after we were seated people started coming in (we were seated at the first booth facing the front so we could see)... and finally, by the time we left a party of 12 (or more) came in to dine (looks like a basketball team?) ... and this is on a Thursday evening. We each ordered a bento box and also a shrimp tempura as appetizer. Alyssa was our server, personable, friendly and attentive to our table. Our miso soup was served first, hot and flavorful... before I finished the soup our meals were ready and are being served. My 2-items were the beef teriyaki and the salmon teriyaki. The salad was delicious with the house dressing. Had to request a side order of rice because with the salmon and beef the rice wasn't enough. Everything was delicious though, the beef soft. The interior is modern with booths, tables, a huge bar with a couple of flatscreen TV's, and counter seating by the sushi chefs. They also have an outdoor patio seating covered with large umbrellas. Fresh space, familiar taste, but service falls behind. My husband and I have been fans of Sushi Yo since their old Fulton Ave location, so we were excited to visit their new Arden spot during the soft opening. The inside is beautiful. The menu is similar to the old one, and prices are on the higher end with rolls starting at $15, bento boxes at $23, and ramen at $20. Understandably, it's a soft opening, but it was clear that they were understaffed. There was only one server trying to handle multiple tables, one sushi chef making all the rolls, and probably one cook in the back which led to a frustrating delay in service. We arrived right when they opened, but still waited about 30-40 minutes for our food to arrive. We ordered the JD roll, a bento box, bluefin belly, amaebi, and ramen. The blue fin belly was disappointing. At $16 for two pieces (market price), we expected the melt-in-your-mouth texture we've had at other places, but it just didn't deliver. Aside from that, everything tasted great. But the long wait made the overall experience feel less enjoyable. The server and owner were both apologetic, which we appreciated, and it's clear they're trying their best to get things up and running smoothly. We're hopeful that once they have more staff and have worked out the kinks, we'll be able to enjoy the great food we know and love without the service hiccups. read more

Also decided to try some Angel Lips, which is a Deep fried jalapeno stuffed with crab salad and some sauce on top. I can't remember prices specifically but you're in the ball park of 20 dollars per roll besides the spicy tuna which was about 13 dollars. Ok, wow, where to start. First off I should say we have probably had sushi at 70-80 different places in the US as well as some in Japan. We arrived during a slow time for a late lunch and were immediately greeted by Alonzo. His service throughout our dining experience was top-notch. He immediately asked if we wanted water or anything else while we reviewed the menu. After about 5 minutes he came back to see if we had any questions he could help with. This was our first time here and there were so many interesting options that we were considering so we asked for a few more minutes to decide. We finally decided for this trip we would try the 9 piece sashimi, the Arden Park roll, salmon skin hand-roll and 2 piece unagi niguri. Everything came out looking like a piece of art. We were pleasantly surprised to see fresh real wasabi served with the sashimi platter, as well as it being built on a base of crushed ice to keep it cool. Each piece was a generous size but not overwhelmingly so. It tasted so fresh and refreshing. Next we started in on the Arden Park roll. It was perfectly balanced and delicious just the way it was for my wife. I liked the way it tasted with a little fresh wasabi and dab of soy sauce. My wife said it was the best roll she has ever had. My wife always ends her sushi meals with unagi, savoring the warm eels umami and sweetness. I end mine with a salmon skin hand roll (spicy). The roll was done beautifully, was balanced and they added just the right spiciness to it. When we were leaving, we got to meet the owner, Tandy, and Charlie the chef. We were seated at a booth nearby the window, and our server was very attentive and checked in with us often. We ordered calamari for our appetizer. My husband has a chicken noodle plate and sake. Came here the other day and honestly it was really good. The food was on point--everything tasted fresh and super flavorful. Our waiter Adrian was the best part though. Super chill, really nice, and actually paid attention without hovering. Just made the whole experience way better. We've been patronizing Sushi Yo for several years beginning when they opened their restaurant on Fulton Ave. The new location at Arden and Watt carries on the their tradition of excellent food with some new additions to the menu that are delightful. The intimate decor of the earlier location has given way to a modern style that blends nicely and complements the expanded seating style. A patio is available (weather permitting) for outside dining. Parking is easily accessible to the restaurant. The large interior space makes the background noise somewhat intrusive. The staff is new and still learning, making large parties a challenge; but, the owner is addressing the problem. The price is on par with other restaurants for sushi and from my experience is one of the best in the Sacramento area. read more

Wanted to find something close to Lifetime after a pre-dinner time workout. We didn't want to go to Mikunis due to the wait at this hour most of the time. Saw the pictures of the food here on Yelp and thought to give it a try. The restaurant is very spacious and has zero wait during this time. The furniture seems to be all new. The service staff was very nice and tended to our needs promptly. We each ordered two rolls and a bento box. Their rolls were above average in size and protein, so that probably would've been enough, we had to pack our bentos to go since we were full off of one roll each. This is a very, very, good alternative to Mikunis because their quality and presentation is equal or maybe even slightly above. I hope they get more notice because I'd hate to see them have to close due to lack of business. We will definitely return. read more

Such a pretty place with friendly service. My kids loved the aquariums and whale mural. There's booths along the perimeter and movable tables in the center and outside area.
