Nini A.

I've been coming to this sushi restaurant for over a decade, and it's easily one of my personal favorites. I first started visiting back in high school, occasionally walking here after school, and now it's become a regular spot for my family--we dine here at least every other month. The sushi rolls are consistently delicious and savory, with fair portions. Their appetizers are also worth mentioning: they serve the best agedashi tofu I've had at any sushi restaurant--it's perfectly crisp on the outside and silky inside. The lava bites are warm, crispy, and a satisfying treat while you wait for your sushi. The chefs are friendly and approachable. You can sit near them, watch them prepare your sushi, and even strike up a conversation. There are also TVs showing sports games, adding to the casual and welcoming vibe. The restaurant is small and cozy, which gives it a homey feel, but the service can be hit or miss. Servers have rotated frequently over the years, and they tend to be on the younger side--similar in vibe to Dutch Bros employees. Some have been exceptional but are no longer around, while others are clearly inexperienced, often hiding in the kitchen or chatting with coworkers, making it harder to get their attention. There's currently one standout server who consistently provides prompt and accurate service, but the newer staff could use improvement, as they sometimes come across as distracted extroverts who struggle to divide their attention between customers and coworkers. Be mindful of the restaurant's hours: it's closed from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and closes at 9:00 PM, so don't expect to be seated if you arrive close to closing time--you can still order takeout, though. Lunch hours are quieter with usually just one chef taking orders, but dinner (especially on weekends) can be extremely busy and lively, with wait times sometimes reaching 30 minutes. I've also attended special events here, which they advertise on their Facebook page. I've been to an omakase night ($100 for 10 courses -- I included photos of most of them) and a spicy night (featuring dishes with increasing spiciness). Both events were lively, interactive, and wholesome, with free sake offered--a fun experience, but spots fill up fast, so booking in advance is a must. The owner also offers catering for events, which keeps him busy, but he's active on social media and regularly shares customer experiences. This restaurant's cozy and familiar vibe may not be for everyone. If you're not a regular or prefer a quieter setting, you might feel a bit out of place. But for me, it feels nostalgic and welcoming--a place filled with memories and consistently great food.

Love the pepperfin! It's my go to when I'm here at Silver Sake! Small-ish place but the vibes & food are great!

I was really in the mood for sushi. I ordered unagi and sashimi chef's choice. It was really good. They had a fundraiser for my nieces rugby team.

As we walked in tonight at 8:30pm (and they close at 9), we were greeted and asked how our day was. We felt a little bad walking so close to closing time, but everyone working made us feel absolutely welcome. We even got to partake in a Wasabi eating contest! We sat right up at the sushi bar and ordered the Nine Eleven Roll, the Zubi roll, and the Omakase Roll (chefs choice & creation), with a couple of large Sapporo's. Marc introduced himself as our food was coming out. This is definitely an upbeat sushi joint and we've been to many... and not living close at all, I definitely would take the time to drive here to have great sushi. Our sushi was absolutely Delicious! Delicious! DELICIOUS!!!! It was fresh! Had the crunch we were craving and looked like perfection. We were never rushed... in fact, they told us to take our time! It looks like they can seat up to about 75 people and maybe 8-10 more at the sushi bar. Parking was shared with a large parking lot with many other businesses. Service from Madeline was awesome... but Marc was the one that made our trip worth coming all the way out here for. Friendly & upbeat.... he is reMARCable!

Everyone that has worked here over the years that I've been eating here has been nice and friendly. The food is always as expected and delicious! The owner is an amazing guy and always has a smile on his face. The place can be crowded but usually can get sat quickly. The tables are close together but it makes for a fun time. I love coming to this place and love the fun times I always have here.

Ask the Community - Silver Sake

Do they have any rolls made with-/or/ the option to replace white rice with- BROWN RICE? Or even NON-rice rolled sushi//gluten free options?

Hi Brandon, we don't have brown rice as an option but you can wrap any roll in cucumber instead of rice if you would like.

I tried their sukiyaki set, both wagyu and seafood. I wish they had given some instructions on the approach or order I should eat the sets of food. It was a little chaotic trying to figure out how I could submerge all the ingredients in the broth so they would cook evenly. The tempura is perfectly crispy, but the rice was a little brittle and got dried really fast. The texture was more like Vietnamese broken rice, and it caught me off guard because when I tried their sushi a while ago, they used very high-quality rice. As is typical with sukiyaki, the broth becomes very flavorful at the end, absorbing all the flavors from high-quality ingredients, but my udon got a little dry while waiting. Since I tried both set, the wagyu sukiyaki broth became a little too sweet at the end. My favorite is definitely the seafood sukiyaki broth. Would I try these pricy sukiyaki again? Probably not. Would I go back to Azayaka again? 100%. This would not discourage me from going back there any amount.

Came here for dinner a couple of times, the first time I ordered the rainbow roll ($15) which is my barometer for sushi at restaurants. Decently sized, the fish was fresh and the roll was filling. Daughter ordered the ramen ($18) with the red option, which she enjoyed with the plethora of toppings. Dinner the second time, I got the teishoku set with salmon ($21). Two decently filets of salmon came with rice, miso soup, salad, deep fried egg roll and salad. You also get a choice of either croquette or chawanmushi. The chawanmushi was a highlight for me! I missed eating this savory custard when I used to live in Japan. Their version did not disappoint! This has spot has become a rotating staple for me and am looking forward to trying out more of their sushi rolls.

I dunno why, I guess maybe not that popular with the local customers, like everything Teriyaki and Sushi and fried Tempura. Everybody has those, but no actual Sukiyaki! So I was happy to see Sukiyaki in the name of this restaurant and see it on the menu! I just wish it was closer to me in Red Bluff and not all the way down here in Sacramento. I was in the area, so I had a chance to stop in. I came with one other friend that was interested in trying the Sukiyaki as well. They offer sushi on the menu as well as all the more common Japanese dishes like Teriyaki. That's kinda like the sweet and sour of Chinese food, it's everywhere. Service was super friendly and I ordered the Beef Sukiyaki and my friend ordered the Chicken Sukiyaki. For sort of an appetizer we ordered some salmon sashimi. Tea to drink for us. The sashimi comes out first. Decent sized portion and the salmon was super tender melt in your mouth like it should be for sashimi. Then our big bowls arrive. My beef sukiyaki smelled wonderful. The chicken sukiyaki was good smelling too, but not as strong as the beef version. They both were super hot, so we needed to let them cool a little. Meanwhile I used my chopsticks and pulled out some of the beef. Blow to cool and tasted it. Wow, this was super good flavor and tender, not all chewy like it could be. The broth was seasoned just right, just the right sweetness and saltiness combined with tofu and veggies. The noodles were cooked just perfect. The chicken version, my friend liked a lot. She's not a big red meat eater like me, so it was good they offered a chicken version. The portions in the bowl were so big, we barely finished and were stuffed. I'll definitely come back here again if I'm in the area. This is way better than Vietnamese Pho that's for sure.
