Too bad the food was bad... all I ordered was a Cali roll and spicy tuna and the spicy tuna was brown and clear and extra fishy... the california roll also was just supbar... not even good imitation crab. We ordered the miso ramen and it was literally just miso broth and ramen noodles. The noodles were firm. There was no egg or tofu that you'd usually find. The shrimp tempura was overly breaded. I'm a part of The Capital Eats Local group on Facebook and was craving sushi tonight. This place was recommended to me and I am so glad we came here. Of course, because it's takeout, on the car ride home, the calamari lost its crispy freshness. NOT THEIR FAULT. They were working their butts off and the food was fantastic. I just can't wait to go when the restaurant is open for dine in. I will be back. I ordered 4 rolls, the tempura calamari and nigiri and sushimi mix all for $90. My favorite rolls were the Sacramento roll, and the Unaten roll. The owner was so stressed, you can tell. DON'T ORDER THROUGH GRUB HUB. Ordered four items from GrubHub. Only three things were delivered. I called the restaurant and they said they'd probably misbagged things and if I contacted GrubHub and had a whole big hassle they'd make the missing item, vegetable tempura. Well that was one person's whole meal. Why do they force their customers to fix it? Why don't they call Grubhub? Grubhub wouldn't help me and so my son was just hungry and so was I because I gave him half of my dinner. The food wasn't very good either. Too much mayonnaise and greasy. I tried to support a local business that I've seen many times and ended up hungry, cranky and disappointed. I won't order from Silver Sake again. Update: the owner and manager both reached out to offer make me a free tempura on a day I was free. I really appreciate them reaching out like that especially given everything going on right now. Silver is by far the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to! Their fish is always fresh! Rodi is an amazing chef!!! He creates dishes that are truly works of art. So disappointed in my meal tonight! This has been my go to sushi place for years and my Door Dash meal tonight was inedible. I ordered a Scooby Doo roll and they made it with no sauce (it was completely dry) and there was literally zero flavor. It had zero chili and zero slices of cucumber. For a $16 roll that's totally unacceptable. I ordered a carmichael and it basically had no avocado and the shrimp tempura inside was just tempura. Cheap, cheap. I've ordered Door Dash twice and both times it's been a flop. I think they intentionally don't put effort in Door Dash orders. Sorry Silver Sake but you lost a customer in me tonight ... my $60 dinner was inedible and I threw half of it away. Also, it took over an hour to receive. If you can't do Door Dash well, don't do it. Walked in to place an order. There were no dine-in customers at the time. Many customers came after me, seemed like they were regulars because they were greeted and seated right away. All the customers after me received their order. Seemed unfair since I am a paying customer too. Had to walk up to the young lady to ask the whereabouts of my order. She was polite, so I was like, okay... food better be amazing for a 45 min wait. Nope. Sushi was terrible, barely any sauces on top, one roll was supposed to have avocado but seems like they smeared the color green on top of the sushi. The tempura shrimp was all tempura, no shrimp. First time here, will definitely go back. Quaint, laid back atmosphere. The food was INCREDIBLE! The edamame was delicious and a large portion, priced accordingly. The SASHIMI was killer, with Octopus, Albacore, Unagi and Hamachi, beautifully presented. The BENTO had chicken with teriyaki on the side, double salad no rice, and tempura which included 2 huge prawns and lots of exceptional veggies! Every dish was an A+, they couldn't have been better. Summary: The food is outstanding - fresh, flavorful, and beautifully designed. The service is friendly and accommodating of certain special requests. The staff seem to recognize the regulars, welcome the newcomers and genuinely seem to want to greet people by their first names. It's a very personable atmosphere. The portions are generous. The prices are reasonable. The restaurant is smaller, more quaint, and cozy. Dining area and restrooms are completely clean. This is my favorite sushi place to go and worth the drive as we live probably 45 minutes away. Food recommendations: probably anything on the menu, but we ordered edamame, vegetable tempura, shrimp tempura, Gyoza, assortments of nigiri, Teppan beef teriyaki, the chef's special roll at spicy level 12 with warm sake, plum wine, and Sapporo. We had an assortment of mochi for dessert. Every item we would order again. Back story: We used to live much closer to this place & it was my favorite, but we moved and I hadn't been to this place in probably 10 years. We had my birthday dinner with the family this evening, and we had actually chosen another sushi restaurant. This other choice has good food but it's considerably more expensive and wouldn't take a reservation for 4. I remembered Silver Sake from probably 10 years ago and wondered if they were still around. I called them, thrilled to hear they were still around and made a reservation. When we got there all I can say is that dinner from beginning to end was absolutely perfect. Their service was so friendly and accommodating it was wonderful. My dad loves onion rings so he asked for the vegetable tempura with only onions and his girlfriend and I wanted a couple of pieces of sweet potato in there. So they did a mixture of both no questions asked. I ordered a chefs special roll, his choice and it would be a surprise. I specified I wanted it very spicy. Roddy came out from behind the counter and just wanted to make sure I was OK with it very, very hot. He asked me what I wanted on a scale of 1 to 10, and I requested a 12 on spiciness. I specifically request extra spicy quite often at places and most times it just doesn't happen. This time it was the complete opposite. Roddy gave me the spiciest, freshest, most beautifully crafted sushi roll I have ever had! It was so spicy yet so delicious I was literally in pain. My lips and throat burned. :) But I finished the roll enjoying myself thoroughly. The service too was so friendly. Our server answered all of our menu questions, accommodated special requests, and had a smile the whole time. The most fun dinner out I have had in a long time and cannot wait to go back! I cannot express enough how highly I recommend Silver Sake. Take some friends or family and go! You will not be disappointed! My dad and his girlfriend who are both about 10 minutes from this place had never been here before and they both want to go back as well. This place is fantastic! I went to pick up a take-out order and was shocked. This place needs to be shut down. They were not only allowing indoor dining (when only outdoor dining is allowed) but customers were packed in like sardines, no ventilation and I saw servers with no masks and sushi being made with no gloves. The place was one of the dirtiest restaurants I have ever seen: oyster shells on the floor, piles of dirty dishes, and don't even get me started on what was going on in the kitchen. I asked the hostess what the hell was going on and she said, "Talk to the owners." Truly shocked by the irresponsibility and arrogance. In addition, the sushi was awful: messy cuts of sashimi and the spicy tuna was so spicy I couldn't eat it. I'm like, people are risking their lives for gross sushi? Who are these people? I was so sad to leave this review. We used to love this place, but I was appalled tonight when I went to pick up a phone order. The restaurant was operating indoors at full capacity with no regard for the pandemic. No distancing, no masks, no organization whatsoever. The sushi chefs at the bar had their masks under their noses or chins. I waited outside until the line was down and went in to get my order. They had failed to note the allergy request, but there was no way I was going to wait to have it remade. I canceled my order and left. I don't feel safe ordering from here again, even for delivery. Burnt tempura on one meal, and took over 20 minutes for my son to get his teriyaki bento box.....had to ask three times where it was before it finally arrived and everyone else was almost done. And when he finally got it, it was primarily salad and hardly any meat. When we finally went to pay and see if they could fix the bill, after asking twice he took 10%. And offered a gift card. I declined the card because I have no intention of ever going back and paying $79 for shitty food and horrible service. Sadly this used to be one of our favorite places for sushi. We have come here for years and have had great service and loved the food and the environment. However the last 2 times we have come in and recieved the worst service!!! The blonde haired waitress with a permanent scoul has waited on is now twice and we were ignored so she could sit at the counter with her friends and talk...25 minutes before we were able to get her attention to order and then 35 more minutes for our food. Then after we finished eating I had to ask for the check from the young lady taking over the phone orders. This is a cozy place hidden in the community, I felt very welcome because the chefs took a sincere interest in finding the right roll for me as well as introducing themselves and making conversation with me. I love the little neighborhood businesses that welcome you and make you feel like a regular, even though it's your first time there. I walked in and walked out feeling like I just had dinner with friends. They did the cooking, I did the eating, we all did the sake, and everyone had a great time! We started off with spicy oyster shooters (fresh raw oysters in warm sake, chili oil, ponzu sauce, and Sriracha) Oh my, those were good! Then we had more raw oysters, perfectly chilled and fresh. Next was the highly recommended Silver Sake nachos, their version of poke tuna nachos. Instead of wonton chips (or tortilla chips-WTF!), they use seaweed that's tempura battered and fried. It works. The texture was light and crispy, yet stood up to scooping the raw ahi tuna/avocado mixture. We got 2 rolls but I have no idea what they were since we let our friend (who's been there on a regular) do the ordering. They were good, not heavy on the sauces, and no cream cheese (but if that's what you want, I'm sure it's on the menu, or the awesome sushi chefs can make something up for you). The pepper fin was melt-in-your-mouth fresh, garnished with jalapenos and laying in an amazing sauce that I wanted to just drink up by itself. We rounded out the night with some shrimp tempura, which was tasty, although slightly oily. If you're in the neighborhood, stop by, snag a seat at the sushi bar (best seats in the house), and have a great time! read more

Camon Lee, owner of Silver Sake in Carmichael and Sushi Kakogan in Rocklin, created the best meal we've had in a REALLY long time. We saw a post he made of a roll called Scooby Doo... looked like a roll without rice and was wrapped in cucumber. Hmm, that could work! So we went in tonight and he created 4 more unique and special plates for us. Honesty, the best sushi we've ever had. Yeah, there were a few carbs... but not too much at all. Let's put it this way... we feel like we cheated big time... but the best part is we hardly did!! Camon was so funny, kind, and creative. We just moved to the area two years ago and tried this place on a whim. We were avid mikuni goers before finding this gem. The atmosphere is fun. Everyone walking in is welcomed and greeted. It is a smaller establishment and with DoorDash orders rolling in it can get busy. The chefs are always busy, getting orders out as fast as they can. Don't expect to be in and out during rush hours. Come in, take a seat, hang out and talk to people around you. I highly recommend omakase roll (chefs choice). They are creative and fun and always amazing! This is definitely the best sushi place in the immediate area. With that being said this restaurant has some serious issues that keep me from coming here more often. I don't mind paying a lot for a good sushi experience (Mikuni) and this place can compete on the quality scale. That being said, I have been here probably 15+ times now and the quality is not consistent. At least at Mikuni I know my $16 sushi roll is going to be awesome and fresh every single time. It is USUALLY good at Silver Sake but I have had a few bad experiences. Most recently I got the 101 garlic roll (I always get this because its delicious, who knew raw fish and garlic paired so nicely??) and an order of gyoza and my bill was $21 without tip. Something to keep in mind if you're on a dining budget. I usually opt for Mikuni as I can get the same thing for the same price (or less) and I know it will be good, every time. Like the other reviewers have said, the service is truly horrible. There is always a crowd here and every time I come to Silver Sake they say 'We didnt expect to have such a crowd so your food will take a while.. were sorry'. You have a crowd every night, figure it out. While you're waiting approx 1 century for your food you begin to notice how weird the service is.. overly casual and informal to the point of uncomfortable. The waitstaff/ owner is incredibly friendly with some people and then other tables get totally ignored, it definitely seems like this is a regulars kind of place or everybody is personal friends outside the restaurant, hard to say. I was here the other night and the staff was doing sake bombs and taking shots with one of the tables. I don't mind the drinking, glad they are having fun and I like sake bombs too-- but when I have been waiting 45 minutes for my food and I see this, I get irritated. I found out about this restaurant a few years ago when I was at a party catered by Silver Sake. It was probably the best sushi I have ever had, and the sushi chefs were friendly and made a show out of cooking. My visits to the restaurant haven't quite measured up to this catering experience. To sum up silver sake: A. Generally good quality food B. Best sushi in the Carmichael area. Don't come here if: A. You're starving because your food will take forever B.
