Two atmospheres - inside and outside (both climate controlled and casual). Outside is a bar with a family flair, free popcorn and peanuts, sporty and noisy - but then again when there's lots of kids noise is great to mask all the individual sounds. They have both high chairs and slings for infant carriers. Inside is a cozier feel with a very casual ambiance. Food is all the basics, sometimes with a little twist, but done very well. The sweet potato fries are perfect! There's a "beach vacation" vibe that always keeps the place packed and we go there all the time to meet up with friends. But tonight we went with a very large party for our H.S. baseball team. I talked with management about a week in advance to reserve the space and communication was excellent - I felt confident they were going to be able to take care of us and they did! They were ready for us when we arrived and had space for all the boys and families in the new tent area. We had 2-3 servers waiting on us and they did an amazing job getting drinks, apps and orders and keeping everything moving. All of our boys and families had a great time. The chicken has usually been delicious but this restaurant is a CESSPOOL! There was no social distancing and the place was packed by preCovid standards. Many of the patrons waiting indoors for a table (or seated) were neither distancing nor wearing masks. Not even poorly wearing masks! If you're curious where a routinely weekend 'super spreader' event originates in Symmes/Mason/Montgomery, look no further. Great Place, loved it! They were under construction and the parking lot was packed. Went in and it was even more crowded than the parking lot. But, we only waited about 30 minutes which was great considering the crowd. We sat like sardines at our table but I'm sure this will be much better when the construction is done. If you are looking for a quiet, non-crowded space, this probably isn't the place for you. But if you are looking for a place where it feels like a gathering with games on all around you, I'd suggest here! It's loud yall. But not to the point where you can't hear those around you. It's been this way in the middle of the day so I can only imagine how it is late. Now the food... first off, they have fresh popcorn popping all day that you are welcome to grab for your table. It's like a mini appetizer :) Speaking of appetizers, I typically order the wings with sauce on the side. They are so good! I love when the wings are nice and tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside. For dinner, my favorite item to order is the half rack of ribs + chicken with sides. The chicken is so juicy! And the ribs just about fall off the bone and have a nice amount of flavor. For the amount of food, I think the price is well worth it! It's spacious, has a lot of high tables, plenty of drink selections, including happy hour until 7 pm. Service definitely needed work. It took 20 min for our drinks to come out (and we had to remind her, otherwise we may never have gotten them) and our server wasn't the most attentive throughout our meal. Menu seemed pretty standard. I ordered the chicken (since that's what they're known for), which you can get in dark or white meat. It comes with two sides - I chose the red skin mashed potatoes as well as the broccoli. The chicken was good, definitely on the juicy side with nice, crispy skin, but didn't blow me out of the water like I'd expected. The sides were very standard, nothing special. Unfortunately I got a pretty bad stomach ache almost immediately after my meal, so not sure if the meat was undercooked or what? Not bad, not great. Looking for a place to have an awesome salad? Look no further, this is your place. With like ten different salad options to choose from, the salad options are plentiful. The name sort of gave me the impression that it was place where silver haired people gather, but to my surprise, it's more of a bar and grill. In fact, they have two bar areas, one of which is brand new, just added a couple of months ago. The location, is in a suburb area of Cincinnati, far from downtown and from where I was staying. My friend, the non Yelper that she is, has lived here for several years, and recommended this place. Even though it's out of the way, I think that it was well worth the drive out. We were there at lunchtime, on a Sunday. The place was packed, so the place is no secret. I have no idea why it's not rated higher on Yelp. I guess some of the Cincinnati Yelpers are rough. My friend said that the servers here are all excellent and that it's quite difficult to get a job there. I assume that's because the turnover rate is scarce, that's just a guess. I can only vouch for our service, which was excellent. They offer free peanuts and popcorn, but it's on a serve yourself base. I helped myself to the popcorn, at the popcorn machine, but I never spotted the peanuts. After all, I'm having a salad, so it was probably best that I didn't find the peanuts. The menus were hard plastic, which made them sleek and clean. I have a pet peeve about dirty menus, so this minor feature made an awesome first impression, when I didn't feel the need to go rewash my hands after ordering. The lunch options/specials were offered every day of the week, not just weekdays. All of the lunch options are $11.99 and include a soda or a tea. The unsweetened tea was excellent. I loved that they bring out a mini pitcher of drinks. You would think that it was so the waitress didn't have to bring as many refills, but our waitress kept even the pitcher topped off. I ordered the fried chicken salad and asked for my tenders to be buffaloed. The pieces of tenders were lightly battered and perfect. The salad was topped with a ton of cheese, so if you're looking to avoid calories, you may want to ask for less cheese, or your cheese on the side. I could write ballads for this restaurant and it still wouldn't encompass how much I love their chicken. My parents call it "The Chicken Joint" I think because that's what it's old name was. Their menu has various selections such as the pasta marinara which my dad really likes but I always go for their cajun spring house chicken. Their chicken is so tender and juicy and the cajun seasoning adds a delicious kick to it. When my brother and I were younger we would split the half chicken meal and fight over who gets the last piece. My family also likes their sweet potato fries so at least one person usually gets it as a side dish but I've never been a huge fan of sweet potato so it's a pass for me. Also, they don't really advertise this but they do have free self-serve popcorn and peanuts. The peanuts are near the host's stand and the popcorn is on the left side of the restaurant (past the Budweiser double doors of you're seated on the right side) on the back wall. One downside is that this place gets super busy especially during dinner and weekends but the wait is well worth it. The bigger downside is that now I live out of town so I can't come here regularly anymore! read more

The place was packed so it took us a minute to get seated fortunately that didn't hinder our service. The first thing they did that I liked was they have free popcorn to eat while you are waiting for your meal. Things like this are always nice when you have kids because you can snack for free while waiting for your meal. Speaking of the meal my wife ordered the grilled chicken which they are said to be known for and it was amazing. Some of the best grilled chicken I have ever had. Her meal also came with a side of onion rings which were very good although neither of is really liked the dipping sauce. I had a burger and fries which were both good but neither of them had any real stand out qualities. Silver Spring House is one of those places that, when suggested for lunch with coworkers, everybody wants in! It's definitely your great American food joint that's a local gem. They're known for their chicken so....get their chicken. I'm serious, it's absolutely delicious. But go early. This place is packed to the rim during lunch with people circling around and around looking for a parking spot. They've got such a huge lot for parking that they still direct overflow to the school across the street. I have no idea how they fit everyone in there. The ambiance inside is really homey with pictures and collectibles spread out all over the wall. This is definitely not a place to go if you want to have a quiet lunch where you can sit down and chat with your friends, but if you want a good meal at a very decent price and quick service, this is your place. My bill always adds up to about $10, which is standard for lunch and even though there's tons of people, it's never more than an hours lunch. They know this and they definitely respect all their customers' time. If there's a restaurant that knows supply/demand, this one is it. Oh and, did I forget to mention? Go for the chicken. Silver Spring House has become something of an institution in this area. The place always seems to be packed, filling up their large parking lot and some overflow parking at their busiest. The atmosphere is fun, and they have a spacious open air dining area that is especially nice on great weather days. There is free popcorn to enjoy as you peruse the menu and wait for your food to arrive. The menu offers a large variety - salads, burgers, ribs, tacos, burritos, pasta, and more - but they are especially known for their chicken. They also have good Saratoga chips. There is a nice selection on tap - I was especially glad to see Angry Orchard on my last visit. I also get a good laugh out of the fun ways they decorate their sign area for various holidays and seasons. It's a nice touch, and gives you a bit of an idea of the kind of atmosphere they have.
