Definitely has gotten too big for its britches. Roadside burrito was served as a sloppy mess filled with pieces of chicken gristle and stale blue corn chips. Water was undrinkable. Thought it was a soapy glass but waitress said their water tasted bad-- which means owners don't care enough to correct it with a proper filtering system. Waitress disappeared after serving our party of four, so there was nobody to complain to so things could be made right. Been coming for decades, and it's obvious they are just living on a past reputation after repeated expansions. Sad based on what it used to be. read more

Don't know if it was cause it was a Friday night or cause they were doing their breast cancer month events but the wait and service here was atrocious. Waiting for a table of 4 took well over an hour, then waiting for our server took 15-20 minutes each time we needed her, and the wait time for the food was much longer than desired. Basically spent our whole night here waiting. To sum up, the wait was not worth the chicken. From my entre: Chicken was juicy and the skin had a nice crisp to it. Coleslaw was fresh and the crinkle-cut sweet potato fries was a nice side to the meal. Must grab some complimentary buttered popcorn when freshly popped. read more

Went here feeling an urge for some fried chicken. Never been here before, but the place is filled with pictures on every wall full of their loyal customers. A nice touch. We got the half chicken and the chicken was cooked well. The chicken comes in different varieties and we opted for Cajun style. It was too salty for me, not necessarily spicy. The fries, sweet potato or regular were fantastic! The Cajun Cole slaw was a little unremarkable as well. In summary, get the fried chicken and lots of fries. read more

Our group of 5 women enjoyed the patio on a warm day. Food was ok, not anything stood out between the burgers, fish and chips were very good, and our server was trying to rush us presenting our bills while still eating and had to request more drinks. Traveling through the area and hotel recommended this place as a lively pub that was sure to please. Plus side: Very friendly staff, hearty portion sizes, great drinks, spacious room. We left very full with plenty of leftovers. We also got seats quickly at the bar considering how busy the place was. Negative side: Prices a bit high for the quality of the food you get. Basic Tex-mex/pub food. Ordered the chicken taco salad and the chicken was cold and didn't have much flavor. Another person I went with ordered the special burrito and said it too lacked flavor while the third person, who ordered the same thing, thought it was great. Wings were good. Place lacks air conditioning so it got uncomfortable in the humidity. All in all, basic local establishment that will satisfy you bar food craving. Would consider going back again. read more

Our third or fourth visit here in last 3 or 4 years with a party of 4. This place always seems to be packed, so that is a good sign. But plenty of parking. All of us had the chicken which they are well known for. BTW, the chicken is not fried, it is grilled, so it tastes a little different. But a half chicken dinner ($20 with 2 sides) will satisfy most people. I had a baked sweet potato and tossed salad with hot bacon dressing. Also a bowl of chili which was good. Service was friendly and attentive. They also have a popcorn machine which is a nice touch. I'm sure we will return again, maybe for lunch next time. read more

Silver Spring House does NOT respect SERVICE DOGS. SERVICE DOGS are NOT WELCOME HERE. My 6month old service dog is in training and he barked one time. Someone named Joe with medium/long blonde hair came over and told me to "shut my dog up". Service dogs are legally welcome in any setting and I was appalled by the treatment we were given. They did not ask what type of aid he offers and even scoffed when I said he was a service dog. My mom and I came to enjoy a tasty lunch and instead were met with a rude and ignorant attitude. My dog is small, he is learning, and in fact he was doing incredibly well! We will not be back and I do not recommend you visit. read more

It's been about 5 years since I'd been here last, so I was worried that it had changed for the worse since then. No worries there! Same great food! Yes the prices have gone up but they have everywhere. Their claim to fame is chicken - it's amazing. Got the chicken tenders platter and it was as good as ever. Really, really average food. I had blackened shrimp. It was okay. The serving was large, but the shrimp were medium ( if you are familiar with shrimp, most restaurants serve large or jumbo and give you fewer). They were somewhat bland. The coleslaw was decent. The chili that came as a side was outstanding. Other than that, the chicken sandwich was just okay, the 1/2 chicken dinner was just okay. The best dish was probably the salads. There were eight of us and three orders salads. Each of them was excellent, with the mandarin chicken salad probably being the best. The building is cool, the massive amount of televisions would make it a great spot for a game. The service was good, not great, but good. Overall, it left me with no impression. No reason to go back next time I am in Ohio, but then again, no reason not to. read more

My family and I were trying to find a spot for dinner, when my wife suggested Silver Spring House. We were seated immediately, which was great. Unfortunately, our booth was next to the restroom, the servers' area and the bar. This made it almost impossible to get out of our seats, but we dealt with it. Our server seemed somewhat stressed and annoyed as she took our drink order. She returned with our drinks, and then with pitchers for refills, which we appreciated. To her credit, she did give us time to look over the menu and returned promptly. My wife and I ordered the Half Chicken Dinner with broccoli and redskin mashed potatoes. My daughter had the Half Chicken Dinner with mac and cheese and fries. Our chicken was tender, juicy and had a good flavor to it. The only thing I would have enjoyed better, is if the skin was crisp. The mashed potatoes were very good, and the broccoli was okay. My daughter did not care for the mac and cheese, but she liked her fries. The reason I gave it only 3 stars was because of price. The Silver Spring House Restaurant is EXPENSIVE. In fact, our food, plus soft drinks, (no appetizer) came up to around $75.00. Adding a tip, it was $82.00. Sticker Shock, for sure. All in all, Silver Spring House is a decent restaurant. However, in my opinion, there are better restaurants which won't body slam your budget. read more

Our server was fantastic, attentive but not buggy, never went without something to drink, napkins are on the table, pre-lunch popcorn was great, ambiance is fabulous with open windows and a nice breeze. I was in town visiting some family and this is one of their favorite spots so they love to bring guests here. They have great taste. It's such a fun environment! Being from Indiana I'm not used to under 21 in bars but here it's completely normal and lots of families were around. We waited about 20 minutes on a Friday night but were able to get a drink at the bar while we waited. Once we were seated we got served another round right away and when our waitress brought our drinks she took our order. I got the B.C.J as a wrap which was really good. I wish there would have been some kind of sauce (ranch or some kind of chipotle mayo or something) in it but it was good anyway. My side was sweet potato fries which were cooked really well and not too crispy or soggy. My husband got Guac on the Wild side also as a wrap and he really like it too. We were very disappointed in our most recent visit. We arrived, with our dog, and went to the hostess stand. Asked for a table outside since we had a dog. A second person then took us to a table, left use utensils and menus and let us know someone would be by to take our order. This was a table right out by their fence, about 10' from Kemper road. After a few minutes another person came to the table and stated they could not serve us because we had a dog "in the restaurant". He was very rude, did not explain why two other staff members greeted us and sat us at the table. He just turned and walked away as my wife and I wondered what had happened. I basically come here because a number of friends are regulars and it's their hob nob place. Last week I was with a well known coach after a high school game and this was his first choice to take me. Tonight I brought a group of 5 and the hostess seemed irritated that I requested a table for 5 under the tent as we are older and at high risk for covid. I love eating under the big tent. The hostess acted put out when I asked her to put two tables together. When our food arrived my fish was cold and another's broccoli was cold. They gladly took it back. My issue was I was originally served 3 pieces of fish and when they brought back 2 pieces . In the last two weeks I spent over 200.00 there. This is unacceptable. read more

Went on a Friday evening for a date night and it was busy. We were quoted a 45-60 min wait. We snacked on the free peanuts and popcorn and I got a beer from one of the bars. The ambiance was awesome. It was huge with 3 bars and lots of TVs. We only waited maybe 20 min and got sat in the section nearest the restroom. There were photos all over the walls and bar related decor. Hubby had the fish and chips but subbed the fries for onion rings and I had the chicken they're known for with Mac n Cheese and chicken noodle soup. The soup was delish, the chicken had a nice crispy skin and was moist but not a lot of flavor, and the Mac and cheese was creamy but bland. Hubby said his food was good but not spectacular.
