My fiancee and I went to this spot after running a 5k with some awesome friends. It made for a great post-run meal for sure. The place itself has a laid back classic diner feel to it. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. I like that they serve both breakfast and lunch all day and feature lots of tasty options for both. They also do mimosas, even a mimosa flight, and their bloody Marys are very nice too (especially the spicy one). I've been wanting to dine Sugar n' Spice but at the original location on Reading. The first location is nostalgic and heard it was so good! My fiancée and friends mentioned coming here after our 5k run. I didn't know they opened up a third location on the Summit Park in Blue Ash. I had to check it out. This place is so cute! We went on New Year's Eve and there was no weight at 9:30 AM. By the time that we left, you couldn't even get out the door. There were so many people standing there waiting to be seated. Cute diner style lots of fun colors love the ducks, but they don't bring them to your table any longer. I had some of the best goetta ever, but the scrambled eggs not so much. Sugar N Spice is a great place to grab a delicious breakfast. Having been around since 1941, they've clearly figured out what works. Modern build but a truly classic diner vibe, with tiled walks and colorful booths. Their menu is pretty extensive and offers options for most diets and tastes. The greeter was quick to seat us and let us move tables away from the door. Our server was very friendly and knew the menu very well! Prices were very fair for the portion. The spicy chicken burrito was huge and packed full of ingredients and flavor. It could easily be shared and still be filling. The Meat Lovers platter is EXACTLY what the title claims. I ordered my eggs over medium and that is how they were prepared. I'd never had Guetta prior to stopping in here and it was surprisingly good! The plate also comes with a sausage patty, fried smoked sausage, bacon, two slices of toast and a decent serving of home fries. The coffee is dark, strong and excellent. Sugar n' Spice, oh how nice! I haven't eaten at Sugar n' Spice in years! While out and about, my family and I decided on breakfast, the best place was Sugar n' Spice! And, what a great choice we made! This whimsical location on Summit Pkwy is so cute, bright, colorful and full of goodness! My belly couldn't stand it, I was so hungry! The menu is stacked with delicious selections to choose from. I went with the breakfast platter that included eggs, bacon (or sausage), toast, hash browns or home fries. My eggs were light and fluffy, my bacon was tasty, the home fries...oh, those home fries...omg! The best! And the toast? Perfectly buttered. To top things off I added a half order of whispy pancakes! Yummy! My tastebuds hadn't danced like this over breakfast in a while, and they were "cutting a two-step"! This little gem of a place has such a long history, and I hope it sticks around for many more years! Shout out to Daphne who served us, your energy was amazing! We were in town for a birthday weekend and chose to find a breakfast joint, instead of overpaying for average hotel breakfast. Sugar N Spice seemed to be a Yelper favorite so we popped the address into the GPS and hit the road. It was very easy to find, but all on street parking could prove difficult during busy times. The interior is very bright and cheery. Our server was very friendly and helped us narrow. Down our decisions by giving some of her suggestions. I opted for the spicy breakfast burrito and home fries. The home fries were frozen dehydrated potatoes so I was a bit disappointed but the burrito was fantastic!! They also make a very good cup of coffee!!! We also had to try the goetta because we were seeing it on menus everywhere. I gotta say....it was pretty tasty!!! Definitely different in terms of texture but I'd definitely order it again. All in all a great experience and happy we found a solid breakfast option for the next time we're in town. read more

Food was great! Highly recommend the cinnamon roll French toast and the goetta. Sometimes I feel like goetta can be difficult to perfect, but this had the perfect crispy outside without being burnt. Service is always super quick. I've never had a bad experience with their staff. This is a great place to get a classic American breakfast! The burrito is my favorite breakfast item but they have great pancakes and bacon as well. I recently went for lunch for the first time. It was wonderful. I got the Steak Philly, it was hot the ratio of veggies to meat and cheese was perfect. My only complaint is that I would like more seasoning on the steak. The fries are Cajun. LOVED THEM. Our waiter suggested that I have them put a little bit of pastrami in it for flavor and boy didn't make a difference! It was one of the best I've ever had , he also suggested we pay the extra two dollars to get the fries, so we did and they were the first things gone off our plate! My Sister is a big breakfast eater, so he recommended the *Mexican omelette for her. he explained the chef was from Guatemala and uses all kinds of spices in her recipe. Of course, being a foodie, I had to have a bite and try to figure out the spices! Taste nutmeg and taco/chili seasonings! I'm sure there's more but those are the two I could identify, made her omelette very unique. This restaurant is known for their wispy pancakes, but our server also gave us the tip that he actually preferred their *French toast with pecans and maple syrup. I also ordered grits that never made it to the table. But they were too busy for me to even make it. Biscuits and gravy... the gravy was alright, the biscuit was so dry the gravy didn't even help. Had to wash it down with water each bite. The breakfast potatoes were just potatoes, nothing special. The chicken and waffle: the chicken was hard and over cooked, I am 99% sure it was just frozen chicken tenders and the waffle was so hard syrup didn't even help soften it up. The chocolate chip pancakes: were decent. But the pancakes are paper thin. So there are no chocolate chips in the pancakes. My daughter ate all of the pancakes I did not try the breakfast sandwich but my wife said it was okay. Would have liked to see a sauce or something on it she said. We may try this place again some time but if we did, I would not get breakfast food. I'd try the sandwiches or something. read more

It was my second trip here in one month. My daughter and I had brunch yesterday after I had told her what a wonderful visit that I had had about 3 weeks ago. She had a huge omelet and grits, and I had sausage gravy and biscuits with eggs. This is a bright and sunshine filled space and the food is wonderful. I visited the original Sugar n' Spice a few years ago and really enjoyed it. My godparents were in town recently and asked to meet for breakfast. I suggested Sugar n' Spice. Sadly, the experience left a lot to be desired. The space was clean and is decorated so fun! The service was also good. But the food was just not great. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and hashbrowns. The flavor was okay, but not worth getting again. The sandwich didn't have enough in it so I ended up eating a good amount of my rye bread plain. The bread was also really greasy. The hashbrowns were pretty average and probably the best thing I had. My godparents portions were really small and my godfather's pancakes didn't come out until the rest of us were pretty much done eating. When they bring your check, they bring you rubber ducks to take home. I grabbed a pirate one for my nephew. read more

Two of went for Sunday brunch & were told there was a 25 minute wait, our being 6th on the waiting list. They just asked for a name, not a phone number. There were 8 empty tables then. We waited in seats right next to the reservation desk while they kept seating other parties of two. Visited the Summit Park location around 8AM on a Wednesday. Not busy at all. Very vibrant atmosphere and the ducks are a cute idea. Unfortunately the uniqueness did not overcome the average food. We tried the western omelet and a cheese omelet. It is actually a multilayered omelet and was good. Both came with an english muffin which was grilled, not toasted. As a result it smelled and tasted like it had been grilled, not very appetizing to us. We also tried the hashbrowns, which were OK but a little greasy. We tried a couple of pancakes. These are thin (but not crepe-like) and OK. Their housemade syrup is tasty. Their decaf coffee was good, not watered down tasting. They had no black tea however. Service was wonderful, facility was spotless! If in area may stop by again but won't go out of my way to go there. read more

Mediocre food and bad service. I've wanted to try Sugar n' Spice for awhile now and was happy to hear that one was opening nearby. My daughter and I stopped by on Sunday for some brunch. The decor is super bright colors and fun murals. The hostess that took our name/number for the waitlist was friendly but that's where anything positive ended. Our server was unfriendly and seemed like he hated having a job the entire time we were there. And we were there awhile because his service was so slow. We both ordered a cup of coffee while we looked over the menu. We were delivered the coffee but no silverware to stir in cream and sugar. We flagged him down for silverware and he seemed miffed that we had asked. Then he never brought it. He eventually came to take our order - Breakfast Platter for me and Breakfast Sandwich with a side of Home Fries for my daughter. We asked for silverware again. But didn't get it. Again. Someone from the back brought out our food and quickly walked away. We were left with our coffee, that was now cold, and our food with no silverware or napkins. I told my daughter to go ahead and start eating and I picked at my food while hoping to catch our server walking by. When we saw our server again we asked AGAIN for silverware and finally got some. We had to ask for warm coffee also since we had waited so long for silverware that our coffee was now cold. Not lukewarm but actually cold. The food? Mediocre at best. Low quality. The sausage was very thinly sliced and overcooked. The 'home fries' are just frozen seasoned potatoes. The English muffin on both my plate and my daughter's sandwich was very chewy and kind of soggy. The coffee is not good either and certainly does not warrant a price of $2.50 cup. What a disappointment. When I walked in I told my daughter that I thought my grandson would find the colors and decor fun and I'd have to bring him sometime. But with terrible service and mediocre food I'm in no rush to return. read more

Keep in mind, Sugar n' Spice accepts reservations. But as you sit and wait to be called and they take party after party in front of you, they don't explain this to you. In fact, they don't explain much; just not a very friendly staff; at least on the day we went. Our waiter was nice enough; but our order was wrong. The place was clean and the food (wrong food) came out pretty quick so there's that. We've been to their other locations. Will I be back? I dunno.
