A delightful five stars!!! I had a fantastic lunch here with my Mom and my wife the other day. The weather was fantastic and the outdoor seating area reminded me of a Paris cafe. Our server, Ana, was welcoming and thoughtful. She patiently answered all of our questions, took all of our special orders in stride and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food is a bit on the pricey side, but the service and the ambience are so exceptional that the entire package is a home run!! Menu highlights include: lamb meatballs with paradelle, fried chicken and mac & cheese, the grilled chicken cobb salad, and the roasted veggie bowl with salmon. *Brunch review* Came here for brunch on a Sunday and was surprised at how packed it was! We didn't have a reservation so we were seated at 1 of the hightops by the bar. The wings were crunchy and delicious well cooked crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. The serving sizes were more than ample! The food was delicious. The bacon and the wings were slightly salty for my taste, however, I usually use little salt so others might find it OK. It certainly wasn't so salty that I didn't find it. Palatable and yummy! The basics should be no-brainers, easy to quality-control and execute. If you're calling yourself a brasserie, steak frites should be fundamental. On autopilot. Yet my steak arrived as a tough, overcooked slab, paired with cold fries and an uninspired salad, all delivered with indifferent service with my water glass being refilled only once. Truly one of the worst dining experiences I've had in DC in three years. We had to hunt down our server the entire night and there were only 4 tables of people. The chicken picatta was extremely salty, the vegetables and cauliflower mash were unseasoned; we had to beg for water refills and it only actually happened once. Then we waited over an hour after asking for the check to actually get it, and then our server never returned to collect it. Thank goodness we had enough cash to leave so we could escape. So many great spots in Washington DC stumble upon and we did! After visiting the national Cathedral, we decided to stop in this neighborhood spot. Very trendy and very good! I appreciate the effort they put into refreshing and broadening their menu. I visited on an early Saturday morning with a reservation. I was seated immediately. Customer traffic was light, however, it did pick up upon my departure. I recommend booking reservations if you are able to plan in advance. I also appreciate the availability of comfortable booth seating. The food was overall OK at the cost of their healthier take on classic menu items, such as their French toast and Shrimp & Grits. I believe this place deserves a 4* due to clean recipes, customer service, cleanliness, and availability of street parking. This is a good spot for casual dining for the health conscious. read more

The pickle-brined fried chicken waffle (with fluffy buckwheat waffles) was *fantastic* -- tender, crispy, thin chicken breasts, perfect waffles, fresh fruit on the side. Tremendous selection of excellent brunch cocktails -- the Bloody Mary was solid, and I highly recommend the Bellini (we got a pitcher to share) and the Orange Blossom (a delicate elderflower cocktail, light and refreshing). Cozy, Art Deco diner ambiance, busy! They still accommodated the 15 of us with ease and grace. Probably one of the best places that I've been in DC! I can't wait to return here when we come back to DC. I loved the interior and the ambiance, all of the servers were dressed professionally and had very respectful and friendly attitudes. The food left me speechless! I wish I could eat that pickle fried chicken sandwich every day of my life. The crunch on that chicken was unbelievable! I also had a latte that was made to the 9 and a yogurt parfait as well. In December, I ended up eating at Silver three times in two days (long story lol) and I enjoyed my experiences here! The service is very kind, and the restaurant is beautiful with a good amount of space. The food here is fine; some items like the Mediterranean quinoa bowl rocks. Silver Brasserie Wisconsin Ave. is currently my favorite D.C. restaurant. They do a lot of things well, but their finest achievement is the Wagyu beef sliders with fries. These have all the flavor of fancy-restaurant burgers but you can pick them up and take a nice, satisfying, cheeseburger bite. A cheeseburger that requires a knife and fork can never be truly satisfying. And they are savvy enough to use American cheese, the only kind that melts right. You can have two (perfect for lunch) or three if you're hungry, and they come with excellent skinny fries. You can get essentially the same meal with perfect little crab cakes. The tuna poke bowl is also worth mentioning, as are the steak bowl and lamb meatballs bowl. You can get french toast with eggs and sausage all day every day, with real maple syrup, naturally. Plus the clientele has an authentic NW DC feel. Really nice waiters too. A thoughtful touch -- plexiglass risers between the booths, which give some shelter from too much ambient noise. Unlike so many restaurants, you can actually have a conversation! read more

I mean, where can you get bison at breakfast. This is a challenge I know and they managed to have it so, they've got something here. A place for couples, family and friends and I would go again. Service: Manager was frazzled. Seems she had a bunch of things to do but, she was short in her service communication however, helped staff with needs. Kaprise was great. She went above and beyond (as did the manager) to make a Spanish coffee. (Id recommend getting it on the menu as this is a hard find and you guys did a great job accommodating) and it's really one of the things I look for aside from mimosas in the breakfast/brunch areas. It sets other places aside from the basic Irish coffee in my opinion. Ambiance: soft/low volume music (lots of Michael Jackson) it's a large place. Well put together and the atmosphere is very classy. They have cloth napkins, fancy. Cleanliness/Standards: One thing I noticed is people on their phones will on the line working. I mean.. this is tough, it's 2023 everyone is on their phones at work it seems, maybe I'm just overly critical but, it's the biggest problem I see in cross contamination. It's not needed and I don't personally like it, especially when it's right in front of me. But was not served until other table seat down in front of me . It was not too busy , so don't understand. There was a service who was deal with a big table to my left. When I saw him take the order of the table in front of I ask who is the server for this table. He could not reply . Still waited for other ten or fifteen minutes he came back and said can I getYou coffee. He pointed to other servers and said I believe this is her table. Waiting for her come by to ask her if she was server. She said no let find out . Finally the server who gave me Coff took my order. I was myself so it made me feel like only if you two more do you get served. After that the manager came by and apologized, but the damage was done. He did ask me to come back and give other chance, which I will do on another occasion. For right now they get a bad review, let wait and see what happens next time. read more

The Silver Diner or whatever the heck they are calling this place now seemed to over-deliver on the food quality, quantity (for sure) and taste. We were pleasantly surprised at our brunch items. The pancakes were light and fluffy, the bacon was crispy, the western omelet was filling and tasty. The service too was good. Andres, our server, was very attentive. He was knowledgeable about the menu and wanted to make certain that we knew EXACTLY what we were getting and EXACTLY what the ingredients were. The hostess who seated us was likewise very professional. So, overall, the dining experience was good. The one thing that left a bad taste in our mouths - and still does - is the nickel & diming they seemed to do. You want real actual maple syrup on those pancakes??? That is an extra charge. I am not certain what sort of syrup you get if you do NOT order the real actual maple syrup but it makes me feel sad for those who don't do it. However, the wonderful service and tasty food today made all the difference. The hostess which I didn't catch her name was wonderful!!! Did management or the chef change? This past Tuesday, I brought some coworkers to dinner here. First, I noticed that all day breakfast is no longer an option, which is unfortunate but I decided I'd try something new. My lamb meatballs and pappardelle was practically inedible (way too sweet and mushy). Additionally, I ordered a chocolate milkshake, which was almost like chocolate milk in consistency. When the check came, I mentioned that it was Tuesday, which is half price milkshake night. The server informed me that they no longer do that; I told her it was still on their website. She spoke with the manager and returned to say that they'll update the website. They could have honored the half price milkshake but they did not so I paid $10 for chocolate milk. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended). I live around the corner from Silver and go at least a dozen times a year, so I'm very sad about this last experience. Extremely Disappointing Experience - Will Not Return I recently visited silver diner Wisconsin ave, and I must say I was incredibly disappointed. Based on the reviews and the restaurant's reputation, I expected much more, but unfortunately, my experience did not come close to meeting expectations. Food: I started with a coffee, which ran out quickly and was never offered a refill. I didn't even have the chance to request one, as the service was lackluster from the start. My girlfriend ordered the hot chocolate, which was cold, tasteless, and seemed watered down--definitely not worth the price. For the main courses, we ordered the Power Breakfast, Bison Huevos Rancheros, and the Pickled Chicken and Waffles. The Power Breakfast was difficult to swallow, with oversized tomato slices that were undercooked and unpleasant. The Bison Huevos Rancheros was passable, but nothing remarkable. The real disappointment, however, was the Pickled Chicken and Waffles. For 21, the portion was shockingly small--barely the size of an appetizer--and the dish was dry, bland, and lacked any real flavor. Honestly, I wouldn't have paid more than5 for it, even as a snack. Service: The service was another major issue. While the waiter was generally polite, he disappeared for long stretches of time, leaving us with no attention or care. When I tried to get the attention of one of the waitresses, she saw me but chose to ignore me completely. She didn't offer any explanation or even acknowledge my presence. After a minute of trying to get her attention, I turned to another staff member at the counter, but she too chose to ignore me. It wasn't until I flagged down what I believe was the manager that I finally got some assistance, but by that point, the frustration had already set in. I requested a juice that never arrived, and it was clear that the staff were either understaffed or uninterested in providing basic service. This lack of responsiveness and attention to customers is unacceptable, especially considering the price point. Overall Experience: The total for our meal came to $104, which I find completely unjustifiable given the poor quality of both the food and service. Based on my experience and the consistent negative feedback I've seen online, it seems that this is not an isolated issue, yet nothing appears to be done about it. I left feeling disappointed and frustrated, and I can honestly say that I will never return to this restaurant. I would not recommend it to anyone, and I strongly suggest management take a hard look at both the quality of their food and the level of service provided. read more
