Finally a solid ramen place in the city of Downey. Don't get me wrong. My city has a ton of great food, but the asian side of the spectrum has always been its weak side with cerritos and the eastside so nearby. This place is a chain - but it is consistent and is he price point is not bad they offer weekday lunch specials which are a great multi-course meal with a nice selection The staff are friendly and attentive The place has a nice open floor plan that makes the place feel spacious and not claustrophobic.

It was nice to see a decent ramen franchise open up in Downey instead of having to drive to our neighbors in Cerritos, Cypress and beyond or Orange County or DTLA/Little Tokyo for my ramen fix. While the price of a bowl is somewhat reasonable and the food does come out quickly, the service overall was great but could use a slight improvement. Throughout my meal I could hear multiple patrons flag down a server to refill their water. Remember, you're serving dishes that contain spices and some people's heat and spice tolerances are different from others so it's no suprise they're going to consume large amounts of water to cool down. It would be more convenient if the servers walked around with a water pitcher (ice cold preferably instead of lukewarm water) and check if any of the patrons needed refills. This would be an exemplary service that any restaurant should follow. Now the bowl itself that they serve the ramen in can be deceiving. While the bowls look large from above and the broth looks abundant, the base of the bowl is actually very narrow and therefore the serving size is significantly smaller than your normal serving at another ramen establishment. They intentionally do this to serve less broth. The fact that they use a large mouth bowl with a narrow base to "stretch out" their broth is a huge red flag and is definitely not worth the price. Now you may read this and say, "You're paying for the noodles, not the soup!" If you truly know ramen and the art behind it, the noodles isn't what makes the dish; it's the broth. The broth is the foundation and adds depth to the entire dish whether it's from the stock, the seasoning, or the oils, each component is what truly makes up ramen, not just the noodles. It's clear the design of the bowl is flawed and what's even more obvious is they serve just enough broth that measure right below their establishment's name on the bowl. I understand they do this for aesthetics but in the culinary world, if you're going to sacrifice quantity for art, save that for fine dining, not a noodle shop.

Stopped to try this place finally. We were seated quickly. Waiter was very kind. We ordered the Ramen & Appetizer special for $20.50. We also order Spicy Chicken Bun, Edamame, Gyoza and spicy Ramen and the classic. The broth on that Ramen was amazing. It wasn't over bearing and every bite was full of taste. The Pork belly was so soft. Everything was so flavorful. They had a nice crowd but there was no mishap on the customer service. Service was A1. If you want a variety of options this is the place to give a try.

Food was good, but the service sucks, my family and I were still eating and they were rushing us to leave. They don't even rushed us when we go to Silverlake ramen on sunset blvd that is even more small than this one. Won't stop by this location anymore. First and last. CC

Great lunch spot! For only $15, you get a starter, mini ramen, and a rice bowl. Everything was delicious and the price is unbeatable! Definitely coming back!

Ordered ramen with some extras and broccoli. It was easy to use the app and even got a free topping. Located across the street from our hotel, we needed lunch and ramen sounded good. Food was ready quickly. Inside was clean and staff was helpful. The food looked and smelled yummy. The ramen was flavorful and all our extra toppings were perfect. The broccoli was crisp and the sesame sauce was delicious. The pork bun was declared a new favorite. Overall great food, our togo bag did not have enough utensils for us but we made the best of it.

I always enjoy coming to Silverlake Ramen since you can always count on quick, yummy, hearty ramen. Arriving there, there is usually a slight wait, but nothing that goes over 10 minutes. I ordered the pork belly ramen and as always, it was delightful. The broth is rich and creamy and it only adds to the fattiness of the porky belly. I do wish they would add a little more spice since it would help bring out the flavors a little more and give it that extra bit of kick.

Services was very fast! We ordered our meal and drinks and within minutes we were served. I had a rice bowl with chicken which was delicious. Other members in my party had ramen and they enjoyed it. The ambience of the place is busy and family friendly.

I grew up in downey and my friend invited me for dinner at Silverlake Ramen. Wow how downey has changed! I wish we had all these options when I grew up here. The ramen was delicious for the cold evening and service was super quick and efficient. Inside seating was comfortable and we were sat immediately when we walked in but I could imagine it being difficult to find a seat when it gets crowded during peak hours. Plenty of parking and easy to find. Great spot and glad downey has a good choice for some tasty ramen!

The ramen here is pretty tasty. I ordered the garlic noddles with pork and we also ordered the blaze with pork. Tried the fried dumplings and they were good too. When your order a soda they give you a can for like I think $3 or $4 bucks which is pricey since you get no refills. The service was fast today they brought everything out within 10 minutes. Ambiance inside is nice and cozy. Parking is great because there's a lot of parking. I would recommend this ramen place.

This pork-broth base ramen with black garlic oil surprisingly uses egg noodles, so it's a richer, different taste that certainly stands out. Saw the high reviews so had to check it out. Susuru Ramen Bar is located on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and N Kingsley Dr. The lot is small sharing spaces with other restaurants so your best bet is street parking, which can also be tricky especially later in the day. The restaurant is small, with the register counter as the first thing you see walking through the door. There's bar seating against the wall, and 2-3 tables for groups of maybe 4-6 people. The lady manning the front counter as well as taking orders and serving was fantastic. Very friendly and checked up on all tables through out the night. For ramen, my bf got the Tonkotsu ($1 extra for spicy), and I got the Mayu. I see why it has such high reviews, both were delicious. The roasted garlic oil was amazing and complimented the pork broth. The seasoned soft-boiled egg was our favorite part, not just lightly seasons either. It was sweet and savory with each bite, and the creaminess from the jammy yolk was fantastic. The charred cha siu slices had a slight sweetness too, and the fat through the slices gave it this wonderful melt in your mouth, mouth feel. The tonkostu spicy used the same broth just added the chili oil to it and gave it a good bite. The noodles had a nice chew to it. It was just the perfect bowl on a chilly May evening. Definitely worth checking out for a great bowl of ramen.

It's a bit spicy with the sauce dip though. Firstly, the ramen bowls were presented quickly, service was quick as well and staff was friendly, very nice atmosphere despite how busy it was. Each bowl itself is huge but thats mostly for presentation. I absolutely love the quality of noodles/ramen here. Each bite was creamy and savory, not too salty as well which is always a plus for ramen shops. I'm very impressed with the portions as well and yes it can be deceiving because of how big the bowl is but the portion size is pretty decent. Love each and every bite. Recent reviewers have described the service as rude, unhelpful, and accompanied by a poor attitude. One reviewer described the service as "awful, horrible, rude service," while another said the woman at the front had a "terrible attitude." Another recent reviewer described the host as rude after being told to wait outside in the rain and wind, and another specifically mentioned that the hostess was not helpful when they had questions. Unfortunately, this makes my experience seem much less like an isolated incident and more like a recurring customer-service problem. My own experience involved someone at the front who was unnecessarily difficult, unwilling to help with basic questions or alternatives, and ultimately refused service when I asked to speak with management. What is even more concerning is that I subsequently tried multiple times to reach management about what happened and did not receive a return call. When several recent customers are independently describing similar experiences with front-of-house staff, I would expect management or ownership to take those complaints seriously. Based on my experience and the pattern reflected in other recent reviews, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere that values its customers and treats them with basic courtesy and respect.
