Higher class, more expensive antique items sold here. The store just felt like a nice hotel. Everything was shiny and spotless. It made me feel a bit underdressed just walking around in that store! I am not an antiquer, nor could I tell you a good antique buy when I see it. However, we love fun shops with lots of visual eye candy and great customer service. We have been into this place a handful of times since it opened on The Alameda almost a year ago. The staff, most of the time it's the owner...is super friendly, lets you browse and ask questions, answering whatever they can. They always have fun things in the window, we love to press our noses up against it when we walk by to marvel at whatever cool antique thingamabob is setup inside the glass staging area. When they were cleaning this place up and moving in, we would walk by at night sometimes and see them hard at work inside, their little cute dog running around wildly. I have always wanted to purchase something from them and today I KINDA had the opportunity. It's my Mom's birthday and she told me what she wanted, because that's how she rolls...she'd much rather have something she wants than a random something that *I* think she should have. I wonder if that's where I got it from....birthday 'wish list' anyone? Yep, I always have one. This year's gift request from my beloved Mom is a buddha statue she found in the back of the Antique shop. I called and left a message for The Teak House yesterday, thinking the same # might work. So, technically it's the Teak House in the back, it used to be the whole shop but I guess SilverLeaf now is the first 3/4 of the store and Teak House is kinda only in the back small area now. After I heard nothing back, called today after being lucky enough to find SilverLeaf's # on Google and thinking they could help. Well, so turns out the Teak House gal is on vacation and Jim at SilverLeaf was kind enough to go into the back area to find the buddha for me. He not only gave me a better deal, but also rang up the purchase, wrapped it, and keep it at the front for the birthday girl to pick up this afternoon. I called up Mom and said 'Swing by to pick up your buddha!' Later, she told me that one of the little horns had broken off by the time she got home, not sure how this affects the luck-bringing of the buddha but we figure it's even more unique now. Why can't all birthday purchases be as pain-free as this one?? SilverLeaf comes through for us with some buddha love...check this place out next time you are moseying down The Alameda. Silverleaf! Why have I not reviewed this place yet? So my family has never been into antiques, but my next door neighbor definitely is. I've never been too interested into home decor until recently and could not stop talking about how great all her old antiquey furniture is. She told me to check this place out when I was getting my first apartment and I've been dropping in ever since whenever I get down to San Jose. I have only found 2 things so far that I've fallen in love with/purchased for my place but I love browsing and finding cute little things. Owners are way nice and helpful and were kind enough to give me numbers to other stores that would have what I am looking for if I for some reason don't find it there. Niiice. read more

I went here for the first time a few weeks ago. I was searching for cute teacups and they had a huge selection. I was able to find an adorable one for only seven dollars. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. My friend was looking for a specific type of chair and one of the owners (I think his name was Jim?) tried his hardest to find exactly what my friend was looking for. He was really personable and accomadating. I don't really know anything about antiques, but I'll definitely be going back to Silverleaf. read more

I can spend hours and hours in this place! They have a great collection of furniture, jewelry, books, and miscellaneous knick knacks. I kind of felt like The Little Mermaid in her underwater cave with her collection of stuff... but don't worry, I didn't start singing and doing backflips. Every time you turn a corner there is something to ooh and ahh about. I never thought I would say "Oooh! A garbage can!" but I guess there's a first time for everything. (ps, I now own said garbage can) The owner/shopkeeper is very friendly and they let you put stuff on hold if you're not quite sure if you want it yet. I definitely recommend Silverleaf, it's a great way to kill an afternoon and is in walking distance of some restaurants and cafes. read more

I love my buddies at Silverleaf. if they have a sale in the warehouse go go go! If you see them having an estate sale go go go. They're fair, adorable, great to deal with and just do a fabulous job at estate sales. I never miss one! read more

They also do "liquidating and Estate Sales". BUT don't use them. They go out and "appraise & inventory" the merchandise, then hold an Estate Sale, THEN sell them at FLEA MARKET PRICES--no matter how valuable they are. They tell you an inflated price they expect to get to get you to agree to their fee of 40% of the total, PLUS an additional $1000 just for "employee expenses". This is outrageous. THEY end up getting far more for the items than THE OWNERS do! They also will sell things they're not supposed to, even if you are very specific that they not be sold. When you charge 40% of the total price, that's supposed TO COVER ALL YOU OVERHEAD--NOT JUST GO INTO THEIR OWN POCKETS. I believe these people to be unprofessional, callas, and devoid of any compassion whatsoever. DO NOT USE! read more

Went there and from a neighbor, I found out it was just a warehouse. Don't waste your time, it's usually never open.

Very lovely shop, lots of pretty boudoir items. It also has a huge selection of beads for jewelry making.

This store has a wide variety of items, including beautiful cameo jewelry and a great selection of perfume bottles. I also love the postcards they have from the 1900s. A great place to nose around on a Sunday afternoon. read more
