Attention to detail and a sense of humor made this reccomended spot a wonderful choice. I had 2 PC Cod, hubby had Salmon. Both with chips and added Cole Slaw. Arrived at 6:00pm on a Tuesday. I checked in for a party of 1 with no reservation and was told it would be a 5 minute wait. 55 minutes later I was finally seated. Granted, I stuck around for 55 minutes, but the hostess told me it would "only be a few more minutes" multiple times. Most frustrating was than 3 groups who arrived after me (also without reservations) were seated before me. All three parties were groups of 2 and I was a group of 1, so table availability wasn't a factor. When I asked the hostess, she told me the system was more complicated than it appeared. When I was finally seated, there were multiple open tables, which was frustrating. Seeing as it was a Tuesday and the restaurant was half open, I could only assume these were not reserved. I ordered the Chicken picatta figuring id give pasta a try, which I never do, bc theyre always a disappointment, but it looked and sounded delicious. so I spent the thirty something dollars on it and I don't know what the hell happened but it was overly cooked with lemons. It just tasted like I was consuming warm lemons with noodles. I couldn't taste much of the other ingredients at all. The chicken was dry too, I literally couldn't eat it as is and gave up after a few bites and trying to separate the sauce from the noodles and chicken. The Lemon was so overbearing and powerful that me and my kid referred to it as lemonade pasta. She ordered a bacon burger and it was decent for a frozen pattie but nothing we'd ever come back for. We just dined here Memorial Day weekend. We arrived at 8 and the place was full of locals and visitors, but were soon shown our table, for which we had made a reservation. We started by sharing the mushroom and goat cheese "struddle" on a bed of greens. It was good, but the goat cheese covered most the mushroom taste; and was only slightly warm. For mains, I had the lamb shanks and garlic mashed potatos, and my gal had the truffeled duck breast with parmesean risotto. The duck was cooked perfectly; a little pink inside and nicely seared outside. However, not a hint at all of Truffel taste or aroma. This actually makes sense, since they said they marinaded the breast with truffle oil, and as a cook, I know that the heat from cooking distroys the truffel flavor and aroma. We asked the server if they could add a few drops of truffel oil, and they happily obliged, bring out a little timble with some in it. With this added, it was perfect. My gal even had some extra for putting on the risotto (which I found under cooked, but she liked it) The lamb shank was hugh and tasted great. It was braised in a port and cherrys. Very good flavor. Unfortunaly, they didn't do a good rehating this, or maybe not turning when initially braising, as 1/2 side of it was dried out; the other side perfectly most, tender and juicy. Also, my garlic mashers where cold in the middle. I should mention that the menu is very diverse, and I would not have minded trying other dishes on a less busy night. They also have a decent wine selection, and the Agintine Malbec they recommended to go with the lamb was excellent All in all, a very good meal in spite of the goofs, which I write-off to a busy kitchen on a holiday weekend. If this was a Seattle resturant, I would given this a 3 stars, but given this is tourist town and the holiday circumstances, I give them 4 read more

Great if you want to eat mediocre but "classy" food and you just want to throw some money away. I'm allergic to wheat so I ordered fish tacos for my Mom and I. I called without looking at the menu. My fault. When I picked them up, the bill was $50!! If they were the most spectacular tacos I'd ever eaten, I would have been ok with it. But there was maybe 6 oz. Of fish that had no flavor, with some sauce, lime, greens and a little bland pico. I've had much much better fish tacos for $4.50 each!! Rather underwhelmed by my experience here I am sorry to say. From the get go, it was a pretty bad experience. After making a reservation at a rather early hour to avoid their rush, I was directed to the worst table in the house, which is a very devaluing experience for a single woman. I almost had a "heart to heart" with the hostess, but at my request I did get one of the many preferred tables that were free. The server was excellent, but then the food was both pricey and mediocre. The ingredients sounded appealing but didn't live up to description. I had the chicken piccata that was dry and tasteless. The short: solid dinner choice, though don't expect to be blown away After an afternoon of strolling around Port Townsend, we settled on this cafe, which on a Friday evening yielded in an hour wait for a table since we didn't have a reservation (reserve in advance!) When we were seated, the waiters were friendly but incredibly busy, always in a hurry and nary a time to take a breath. In the time we were there, I felt bad for the guests sitting upstairs because they had difficulty flagging down a waiter. Try to sit on the main floor. The tall windows added nice ambient lighting to the place though it was on the dim side after the sun set. Plus, our candle reached its end which made it more dark, though not that romantic (not that it mattered) because it was somewhat noisy. I ordered the lavender ahi, which was overcooked, and not on the rare side as the menu had indicated. Thankfully, the waitress was gracious about it and delivered the better one a short while later. My friends had ordered the prosciutto lingcod and the mushroom risotto. I had a bite of each and thought that the flavors were muddled and not well enhanced. We agreed that this place was good for the area and is tasty for a lot of people, though we have had better elsewhere. Verdict: was fun to try, though nothing spectacular read more

Amazing...yummy...a party in your mouth! A gem of a restaurant in the quaint little town of Port Townsend. We came across this wonderful place as we were tootling around the peninsula one afternoon, looking for a place that could offer a great meal with some gluten-free options (have to be GF says the doctor). My wife had the Lemon Olive and Herb Roasted Chicken. Marinated with lemon and herbs, and slow roasted with Greek and French olives; and served with fingerling potatoes and fresh veggies! Absolutely delicious! I had the GF Fettuccine Alfredo w/ chicken added. I'm not usually an Alfredo sauce kind of guy (tend to lean more toward marinara), but I had a hankering for pasta and decided to have it. Oh my...so good! The best cream sauce I've ever had! Plus, it didn't taste like GF pasta at all and I didn't get sick from cross contamination either. Two big thumbs up for that! Washed down with a great glass of wine, we left pleasantly full and wanting to come back again for more. It's located perfectly in the heart of Port Townsend's downtown strip. With shops and cafes all around, this is the ideal spot to take a longer break and have a good sit-down type of meal. I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

First, the food, ambiance and the wait staff was fabulous. Very nice and attentive. The hostess was a different story. When we came to the podium without a reservation, she was very short and seemed put out. She asked if we wanted a very small corner of the bar upstairs. We went out and looked at the menu and really liked it and then went and asked how long of wait for a table. They said 45 minutes. She then was told by someone there may be a table and she went upstairs and came back and said there was a table available. The staff was nice and the food was decent. I got the lamb burger which was done up in a Greek style. I haven't had a lamb burger in a while so it was nice to have for a change of pace. As I was going to take my first bite of the burger, I got a strong whiff of the tzatziki and I was worried that taste would dominate too much, but it didn't. The flavors were well balanced. The burger started to fall apart a little near the end, but I didn't mind. I upgraded my fries to sweet potato fries and they were better than the regular fries my partner got with her fish and chips. They had an option of salmon fish and chips which isn't common, and it was also nice that they offered an option to have one cod and one salmon if you wanted a variety. read more

What I once thought was an amazing Reuben Sandwich has been championed by the perfection of the Reuben this place delivers. Upon ordering, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. The Reuben Sandwich could not have been more perfect. The buttered and toasted marbled-rye bread, the perfect (not too sour) sauerkraut, the sauce (oh, the sauce!) then the not to salty and hearty portion of pastrami and cheese. Done. I bit into this beast and my soul came back to life after it had been squashed by sad attempts at a Reuben by- I shall say no names... Anyway, the Reuben was worth the ferry over to experience... We also ordered a beautiful and flavorful Mediterranean Sampler Plate, which was pure perfection, comprable to anything at a fine dining restaurant but far more reasonable and cozy. When the basket of bread came out, it was cold. The Mac and cheese wasn't "cheesy" at all, instead it was coagulated and extremely dry. The Fettuccine was grainy and again not creamy. Wait staff was short with us, running away from our table when we wanted to ask questions about the menu and hear some information/opinions maybe not on the menu. She always seemed in a hurry in a place that wasn't even half full. And of course she never asked if we wanted dessert. The fried artichoke hearts were the only redeeming part of our $80 tab. Visiting from out of town this place has great reviews so we were disappointed to not share the same feelings as most. Definitely won't be back when we visit, and wouldn't recommend. read more

If you want to guarantee you'll have a table when you walk in, I recommend making a reservation. We got lucky to get a table in the bar area at around 7pm on a Saturday night. The bar area is small but quite nice, with around 3-4 tables with comfy chairs in addition to a small bar in the back. The cocktail and wine list is pretty comprehensive and the menu is seafood heavy. I had the bouillabaisse while my boyfriend had the Parmesan encrusted halibut, which was one of the specials. The menu looked really interesting. I ordered the wild mushroom ravioli, it looked great but it was too SWEET! Who puts sugar in ravioli? We also had mussels which were even sweeter! The mussels also contained lots of very old and dry rosemary which they just put in loose, so every bite contained many pieces which had to be spit out. The house salad was very good. The very friendly hostess promptly seated our party of five and the waitress got our orders and food in a very timely manner. We have two children and the kids menu had great healthy food choices. I had high hopes for SilverWater Cafe because it was recommended to us but it was a complete disappointment. We went for a late lunch at 2:15. We walked in and it took several minutes for an employee to greet us and when she finally did she could not have greeted us with less enthusiasm. The ambience was sorely lacking; dirty carpets, bland and dingy furniture. The music went from Beach boys to Billie Holiday to restaurant Italian. After the hostess sat us down she went to nibble on food at the bar and then put lipstick on. We should have walked out then but we put in our order. Darn it!!! Employees seemed to be walking around and getting the restaurant ready for the dinner hour. Never once acknowledging us as they constantly walked by our table. The food was so mediocre. I really done believe they cooked it; rather it was warmed. I had the pan seared salmon served with salad greens. The salmon was no way recently pan seared and there was no beurre blanc. It had no flavor and was overcooked and served with a pile of greens, barely dressed. Boring. Disappointing. Don't waste your time and money. read more

But I feel like this chowder was made in the morning, which means that it tased like it has been heated many times. I guess the chef per-made the chowder sauce. Had a terrific dinner here on a slow Memorial Day evening. Started with the artichoke pate which had an excellent balance of artichoke, garlic and Parmesan. Then for entrees the local caught Coho salmon which was perfectly done, and the breaded and stuffed chicken bread with a tasty marinara on the side. We really enjoyed both! The restaurant itself has two levels, with a bar on both floors. They originally tried to seat us upstairs, but we requested downstairs by the window and they happily accommodated.
