Nice! I visited on a Sunday morning after church around 11. My husband actually arrived about 30 minutes before me to get a table but the sign says do not sit at a table before you order. You have to order and pay at the counter first. The place was crowded but there were about 2 open tables inside and a few outside. We ordered 2 number 1's. One with turkey bacon and the other with sausage. We also had the seafood omelette with cheese, spinach, tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions with grits. They have a cooler with juices, and water. They also sell coffee and lattes. It was very busy inside but the staff was friendly. The tables are kind of cramped but we made due. Our food took about 30 minutes to come. Now I'm not a big pancake person but these are DELICIOUS! They are big( so one is definitely enough), fluffy, and have a nice flavor( really can eat without any syrup). The turkey bacon was cooked nice and crispy. The seafood omelette was definitely filling. It had a nice flavor. The grits are homemade! They are creamy! Some of the best restaurant grits I've ever had. I will definitely return! Food much nicer than some of the chain restaurants. As we left, the line to order food was much longer than when we arrived . I will make sure to arrive early again. Nice job! I'm glad I tried this place. I loved trying Simple Joe for the first time! We had a bagel sandwich and delicious French toast with bananas. My favorite part was their iced coffee because it had coffee ice cubes-- and it was strong, not too sweet. The inside was decorated with lots of local art that is available for purchase. And there is also an option to dine outside! Our total for two coffees, bagel sandy, and French toast was $29 after tip. Kind of pricey for a breakfast meal, but it was pretty good. read more

Simple Joe's is a great local breakfast spot. It's always packed but for good reason. Our food always shows up quickly. The coffee is fantastic, especially with the coffee ice cubes. The tables are all decorated with different artwork which even creates the feel of having a favorite table. Art adorned the walls and is always a joy to see. Don't order to go. They never put the order in. It would be ok if this was the first or second time. However this is the third time I've placed an order over the phone and go to pick it up for it to have not been put in. It has been a while since I've been here, but it's every bit as good as I remember. Legitimately my favorite veggie omelet in town. Excellent service. Comfortable atmosphere. My family swears by the grits. It's tucked away in a little shopping center so it's easy to miss, but I'd you like breakfast/brunch, it would be a crime to miss this place. They have all the essential breakfast foods and unlimited coffee refills - makes a great place to do work from or have a breakfast meeting too! Owner Sean Braswell knows how to run a fast-paced eatery. I've never seen him without a huge welcoming smile, even while working the front counter taking orders with his arm in a sling. He's created a neighborhood gem with Simple Joe. The food is consistent (the creamy grits are outstanding), the music is lively, the vibe is friendly, and the staff are helpful and top notch. (Shout out to server Sean "Murphy" for being such a sweetheart.) Even though on Sunday mornings, the line can be long and tables are limited, everything moves at a comfortable pace, and all patrons seem to find a place to sit. The River Road Coffee served there is tons better than Community Coffee that seems to be so prevalent elsewhere in the city. I feel lucky to have such a convenient and upbeat eatery just two blocks away. It's my go-to after being up too late on Saturday night.
