My wife and I have enjoyed dining here for years. Our favorite entree was the chicken and waffles, it was the best in Sumter. On Friday we both ordered our favorite, but were incredibly disappointed to find the boneless chicken breast had been replaced with a fatty chicken thigh. My wife was disgusted. Simply Southern Bistro's food is very flavorful, I had the fried green tomatoes which was delicious, the shrimp and grits was a little salty for my taste but the dish was still delicious, a little less salt and it would have been amazing. For dessert, pecan bourbon pie and ice cream this was another delightful dish. Hmmm, one question, 50 cents for a tiny cup of chutney? Maybe that's a SC thing, not sure. read more

I have been to this beautiful little restaurant many times, but for some reason had let a lot of time pass since my last visit. Our visit today proved that Jeff Dennis is maintaining a high level of quality. The restaurant has ample seating but is not over crowded. Low lighting and pleasing music make for a very peaceful environment. The food is amazing. A good sized menu offers everything from scallops on cheese grits to grilled, bone-in pork chops. Sides are typically southern ... fried green tomatoes, fried okra, collards, Mac and cheese and even a marinated tomatoes, cucumbers and onions which was completely reminiscent of a staple at my Mammaw's summer supper. Of course there are salads, sandwiches and burgers, so it basically something for everyone. You won't be getting a $5 quickie meal but it is worth every single penny. read more

Our real-estate agent suggested this place to my family and I upon moving to Sumter, SC. This restaurant is one of the best restaurants in Sumter. The service is very friendly, the atmosphere is clean and homey, and most importantly the food is good. We have eaten here a few times and everything we have tried has been delicious. Their sandwiches are good, and most recently I tried their amazing Seafood Platter. Simply Southern Bistro is one of Sumter's BEST places to eat. The prices are extremely reasonable and the food tastes devine. The 1/2 orders are just enough for someone with a smaller appetite. They are tucked away off the main road, and are only open Wed-Saturday for dinner, but it's so worth visiting. And try the dessert! We stumbled across simply southern bistro on road trip from Brooklyn to Miami. This was definitely one of the highlights on the road. We started with fried green tomatoes, which were excellent! The she crab soup was very good but the best item on the menu was the fried macaroni. Simply amazing! I don't normally eat fried food but these were beyond exceptional, they were delectable, light and ooey, gooey in the best way! We also ordered the grilled salmon, which was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, full of flavor. The service was also very good, our server was a sweet, southern gentleman. Great place to eat lunch! Went here for my first time and fell in love with the fact that they give little biscuits to start off a meal while you wait. Everyone at my table had something different and I am dying to try all the menu items! I had the Po'Boy with shrimp which-- very tasty. We also ordered a appetizer of the pimento cheese dip and it was to die for.. has bacon it.. what could be any better? My friend next to me ordered a salad that looked super good too! We did have to wait a while for our food, "they" checked on it several times, but it was worth the wait.
