Went to the Farmer's Market and had a meal here. Last time I was here, they only accepted cash so I was not able to try it. This time, they were already accepting credit cards with additional 99-cent fee. It was very disappointing. Food was lacking flavor. Beef rendang and Indo style fell short. Indo style had egg on side, 2 sticks of chicken satay, and either mee goreng or nasi goreng. The chicken satay was dry and tough. The peanut sauce that went with the satay was also not flavorful. We also found hair in the nasi goreng. We went here in ~2:30PM and there were not a lot of people anymore. But during lunch, this place gets very busy. Overall, the experience does not match the hype. Very disappointing.

Always love visiting the farmers market. Came to visit after reading about it on a blog. Staff is friendly and helpful, dishes are well priced. The space is crowded at lunch time but has that south east Asian market stall street food dining experience vibe. The gado gado was nice and warm like it prefer though the sauce would be stronger. The dipping sauce for the banana leave wrapped fish was delicious. The meat in the curry was a little dry. All in all a decent place for SE asian food craving when at the market.

A very sad oversight on my part...SBL is easily 5 stars and my sincere apologies for leaving it as a 4 for so long. My bad. :( Anyway, the food here is amazing! Mee Goreng noodles with chicken is wonderful. Must get the Roti Paratha (flaky, layered flatbread) with a slightly spicy peanut dipping sauce) which is indescribably fantastic. Owner is pleasant, kind and really cares that every customer is served a memorable meal.

I'd never had Singaporean food before, so I don't know how authentic this is or isn't, but it was delicious! My daughter and I loved it. It's at the historic Original Farmers Market on Fairfax, so there's lots to choose from and this did not disappoint! Our dish had nicely flavorful noodles, chicken, potatoes, cucumber, tomato, peanut sauce... I'm ready to try another dish asap as I'm confident it's all good!

Son was craving the Singaporean Noodle Curry, so we ventured out on Black Friday weekend. It was super busy and people were not observant that there's a line to order. Some woman interrupted my ordering process, but the man taking my order switched to her. When he was done with her, I asked if she was already in line before me? He said he didn't know, apologized and gave me a free water bottle. Maybe he thought we were together in all the busy-ness. That was nice, service is always nice, and I'm glad they now accept cards, but offer a discount for cash. As much as I like that there's a Singaporean cuisine at the Farmers Market, I do think they need to add a bit of salt and seasoning. I had also ordered ours as medium spicy, but it was not spicy at all. I do like this place a lot, but there's room for improvement.

    Counter

Careful if you have high blood pressure, the curry was "the" saltiest sauce that our group has ever had there's not enough rice or noodles to come close to using the sauce, completely ruined the meal. I think they are the biggest purveyor sea salt I'll leave you parched and begging for water. Even the meats that's been marinated and used in their Mee Gorang and Nasi Gorang was overwhelming. Other than couple small pieces of meat, they added more potatoes - otherwise it would only be soupy. Shared with counter person, who responded wide eyed silence.

This place is straight up KILLER. I don't know how to spell the food. All I can tell you is the noodle dishes, the rice dishes, the curry dishes, they're spectacular. I spoke to the owner and this place is a family owned business with family recipes and you just can't go wrong. Excellent service with a smile too I might add. I would recommend this place to everybody. If you're at the Grove farmers market, you have to try this.

The chicken satay and chicken curry were absolutely delicious tender, rich, and full of flavor. I was a little let down by the nasi goreng, since it didn't quite taste like what I had back in Singapore. Service was friendly and the food came out quickly, and I love that it's located among so many other food spots.

    Satay Chicken, Laksa Soup

I saw reviews hyping this place up so I was excited to try. If you KNOW what good Singaporean/Indonesian/Malaysian food tastes like, this sadly is not going to taste authentic. Chicken Satay: 2/5. The authentic satay is supposed to be charred and the peanut sauce would taste a lot like peanuts. This satay is juicy (which maybe some people would like?) and not very charred at all. The peanut sauce was honestly bland and did not taste like peanuts very much, likely because it was a little watery. Skimpy on the cucumbers and 1 single tomato slice as well. Rice was standard. Laksa: 1/5. Sorry, this one was just straight up bland. There are many versions of laksa, and this one is SUPPOSED to taste very coconut-y but is not. Noodles were undercooked as well. We all agreed that the best part about this dish was the keropok (rice crackers/chips) on the side.

    Nasi Goreng

We've had the Nasi Goreng from here a couple of times. A very solid portion for the price. It's made to order, so be prepared to wait for your food after ordering. It does take some time, but the food comes out fresh and hot every single time. You have to eat the food immediately otherwise the rice will steam and it won't be crispy anymore. Very solid affordable eat inside the Farmer's Market/The Grove.

    Laksa Soup - MID

I was initially really excited to find laksa in LA especially from this very authentic-looking stand, but unfortunately this was not the place to be. Maybe I should've known seeing how no one else had gotten it, but despite the smell it was very watered down, more vegetables than soup, and overall was underwhelming. I tried putting in some spice but it was irredeemable. I felt mislead and disappointed I would not come back but I didn't want to give any less stars on the off chance there other dishes are better

Came here with my girl and the service was above and beyond in my opinion. I'm assuming we spoke to an owner, he answered all of our questions and gave great recommendations. We got our food "to go" in case we couldn't finish it. The food was really good, we could not in fact finish it. There's many places to sit and eat, we ate at a bar nearby playing the Dodger game. I'd recommend checking this place out if you're in the area, thank you to those that took care of our food and service!

A rare find since I don't see Singaporean food much. The goreng was just ok and the laksa was a little bland. The flavors were good though.

It was crispy on the outside and the shrimp was slightly on the firm side and slightly savory. Nasi capcay included a lot of fresh vegetables. It had more liquidy sauce than expected . The veggies soaked up the liquids quickly and began to get a little soggy. However the veggies were savory. The dish could use more greens. NOTE: this dish comes with shrimp which was NOT disclosed in the menu. We specifically ordered veggie only. One party member wanted a veggie dish but could not eat it due to shrimp allergies. Let them know to cook without shrimp if you have shrimp allergies The Nasi bunkus was delicious. Traditional Indonesian food would typically have a lot more tumeric and spicyness but this dish felt more streamlined. You can ask for more turmeric and spicyness if you prefer. Also The chicken was flavorful but a bit dry. The Riice was good, flavorful and not greasy. Perkedelle was tender but did not have as much crispyness as other perkedelle that ive had. The potato inside was not as light and fluffy as expected (compared to other perkedelle) and was instead on the slightly dense side. It was still good. The Bakwang jagung, or corn fritters, were both crispy and a bit dense and sticky. It was savory and was not greasy at all. We liked this dish. Es doger was good BUT had tough meat husks in the drink. The coconut flavor and bits were a nice addition to the drink. The casava and condensed milk had the right amount without being overpowering. If not for the husks in the drink, i would recommend it. Es cendol was heavy on the condensed milk and slightly overrpowered the pandan jelly and bits of jackfruit. It was ok. Overall this restaurant is an option for the area if you are looking Indonesian food.

Meanwhile, my husband stayed loyal to his go-to order, Nasi Lemak, whenever we visit a Bornean or Malaysian restaurant. While he enjoyed the overall dish, he felt the fried chicken was a bit lacked of the tenderness he has experienced at other Borneo-inspired eateries. The restaurant itself is simple and straightforward. The interior features minimal décor with basic tables, chairs, and a service counter. While the clean and uncluttered setup works well, a few decorative touches could help create a warmer and more inviting atmosphere.
