I was given food in the same plastic containers used for takeouts. The pita was top notch. I will try to find places where I could that kind of pita. I thoroughly enjoyed the Baba Gannoush and the falafel. If I do go back and was in mood for vegetarian, I will order those specific items. It felt like the Hummus was missing something but not sure what exactly. The grape leaves were sort of tough and stringy and were really bite sized. This is the best meditation restaurant in Chicago. The food and service are amazing. It tastes authentic and delicious. Let me start with the service: the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They offered me a falafel while I was waiting which tasted amazing. They tried to make sure that they made our order correctly. So good! I was having trouble deciding what to get and the guy I was with suggested Mediterranean and after a brief Yelp search I saw how well rated Sinya was so we decided to order form there! We got: - Baba Ghanoush - comes with 3 pieces of pita (each piece is half a circle) and was really good. We ended up warming some of the pita breads in the microwave to make them warm & fluffy - highly recommend that if you're ordering delivery! - Mixed Shawarma Entree - also comes with 3 pieces of pita, I was pleasantly surprised since I thought it would only come with 1 piece! the hummus that comes with this entree was yummy! - Chicken Shawarma (side) - would definitely get this again as someone who loves chicken and the curry-ish (?) spices on the chicken makes it really flavorful. My only complaint is that their beef shawarma is actually beef + lamb according to the description. TLDR: There's a reason why this cute, fast casual Mediterranean spot is rated 5 stars. I ordered at the restaurant for takeout and it took more than five minutes for an employee to acknowledge and take my order. They seemed busy fulfilling other orders but I was the only person in line at the restaurant. Once I did place and received my order, I was disappointed they do not provide sauce for the Mixed Shawarma or any of their entrees. I've been to plenty of Mediterranean restaurants and have ordered similar Shawarma dish and a sauce is always provided with the order. I checked the website online ordering and the sauce is listed as optional and for an additional $.55 per sauce. The Mixed Shawarma plate itself was already $18+ and additionally you have to pay for sauce? On top of that without sauce, the taste of the plate was really dry and lacked flavor. The sauce usually enhances the flavor of the dish. I also ordered the lentil soup and it was just okay, the flavor was kind of bland and had too much lemon in my opinion. Ordered on line thru Yelp. Order was ready when I arrived (15 minutes later). I am generally a double cheeseburger kinda guy. My gf and I sampled many of the different selections at Sinya..Falafel is not generally in my wheelhouse but I enjoyed it very much. The gyro was fresh and delicious. About as good a gyro as I have ever had. Salad:YUGE portion and very fresh..red onion, olives, feta..yum. My 18 yo son who considers himself to be a conissour of french fries says the waffel fries are 5 stars. Yes even the fries are good here. Only downside is dining in. Just a few tables. A little expensive, but the food was great nonetheless. I got the chicken kabob entrée along with some baklava and falafel. The chicken kabobs were by far the star of the show and they were paired extremely well with the bed of rice underneath it. What made it truly special was then combining with the (obviously) freshly made tzatziki sauce. the only true gripe I have about this chicken kabob entrée is that I felt asking $20-ish for it was just a bit overpriced. Personally, I would think of this entrée as being in the $15-ish range, though I also understand that this seems to be more of the typical price range for said dish in this area. I also would've appreciated for the pita to have been a bit fresher, but I will attribute this simply to the fact that it was a carry out order, as when I warmed it up it was phenomenal to taste. The baklava was outstanding and I actually thought it was pretty reasonably priced (I believe it was just around $5 for four pieces). The meat is so flavorful and great char from the grill. Their platters are such a good deal as well, you get yummy rice, hummus and pita (freshly made!), and a little salad. I always get two meals out of the serving. Don't forget to grab a sauce as well, I really like their hot sauce, great flavor. Another great treat is their waffle fries, seasoned and super crispy.
