I have only been here previously for Turnerhaus brewery for drinks and sports, but today I went in the morning for coffee. I usu visit the Hyde Park location but this is still a bus ride away, and the coffee was free! They had just been burglarized and the 'sympathetic' politicos decided to sponsor free coffee. We went to support and split a breakfast sandwich. You had to get in line and get a ticket to get the free coffee. I found a seat and grabbed a coffee and free Danish. My party ordered a London Fog tea and a breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage. It took almost 40 minutes for her to get this order! I KNOW it was very busy due to community support but with 3-4 people behind the counter it should be faster than that. Luckily we had a tv on with closed captions, and very LOUD music to pass the time. Not sure if it was because it was a high profile day but a DJ was on hand with dance tunes and I sat not far from the speaker! I admit it's not what I want when I get coffee; the Hyde Park branch is much quieter, but it's a different clientele. Trey was onhand chatting and taking pictures. A photographer took our pic for the 'Gram, so that was nice. The baristas were friendly and professional for the 1.5 hours we were there, such troopers, but it was hectic at times. I'm glad they are still around to provide good coffee(seriously I can't think of another place in that immediate area to get hot drinks besides a gas station) but the DJ blocks off the additional seating that could be used for a quiet sip (and savor). read more

I ordered a pumpkin chai latte online. When I arrived the owner was behind the counter filling orders. I follow Sip & Savor and the owner Trez Pugh on social media. He really does do it all and it was great to see him getting his hands dirty. Did I mention my drink was great! I've never had that flavor combination but I will order it again. I was excited to try out a neighborhood coffee spot but was surprised that both of our coffees (cold brew and plain iced coffee) tasted super bitter and burned! Nice little coffee shop with fun flavors right off the subway. I'm a fun coffee drink lover- and this was my kid in a candy shop moment. They have a fall menu with special drinks like pumpkin chai or toffee nut, but even their normal menu drinks looked amazing with options like caramel royale and honey. I ended up getting a hot vanilla honey latte which was sweet and delicious with a prominent honey flavor and more subtle vanilla. Baristas were very friendly. Some counter seating inside. read more

Call me crazy but a coffee shop should be open early. People mostly want their coffee first thing in the morning. This coffee shops opens at 7 am, It's 7:10 am now and the building isn't even open. Sip & Savor is my go-to local black owned coffee shop in my neighborhood. The service is a little slow at the 47th location but it is worth the wait! My go to is a raspberry white chocolate mocha with oatmilk no whip which is hands down delicious. You can call in an order or place a mobile order for pickup. Parking can be a challenge but if that doesn't work you can visit the 43 location ‍. There is no bus stop in front of the venue. Today I ordered a raspberry white chocolate mocha (reg), coffee (reg), turkey sausage egg w/ cheese and a plain croissant with tip which was $17. read more

It also fosters a community that brings people together with their monthly hosted events. I stopped into this location today by chance because I was early for a nearby meeting and I am so grateful that this was the direction my day went! The shop is beautiful and was a bright and cozy reprieve from the rain and gloom outside today. I got the Honey Vanilla Latte with Almondmilk and it was absolutely incredible! Not too sweet and the mix between the espresso and added flavors was super balanced! I also got a individually wrapped blueberry scone (great especially in current times) that they offered to warm up for me! My first time here and I defiantly will be back. It's so nice to have a local coffee spot near your home. The space is used very well. There is so much seating and a lot of natural light comes in. The barista was handling the bar and register when I came in but he greeted us and didn't take long with the orders he already had. I got a iced red eye with liquid cane sugar. Love that this is a Black owned coffee shop. They had a wide array of offerings and ultimately I settled on the honey vanilla latte (iced). Let me say it was SUPER delicious. A perfect balance of sweetness (but not too much, not to overbearing) and just the right amount of espresso. Service was friendly and it was my first time there and the barista (in-training) was very patient helping me explore the menu and making suggestions. I got the latte pretty quickly as well. I was around Hyde park and wanting to explore the area but i was feeling a bit tired, so i wanted to find a good local coffee shop. I was happy to see that this one is black owned! It's a very nice, comfy space, and the coffee is good and flavorful! I got a banana Carmel drink and the flavors are legit (not artificial)! At other coffee shops, i find the flavors kind of settle in and you don't taste them until the bottom. It was the exact opposite here. One of the nicest coffee houses I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Very nice addition to Bronzeville. The establishment is well appointed and you tell ownership really take pride in their work. This is my first time visiting this business. The ambience is nice, very coffee shop like. Nice full menu and bright shiny equipment. Staff is friendly. My drink, the Caramel Royale was tasty, but not as hot as I thought it should be. At the other place with the mermaid, the similar drink is always hot. I observed a few things that I may attribute to being a new location. First, the service was a bit slow. It took me about 12 minutes to get my drink. This was partly due to both employees looking for something for a customer who came in after me, instead of first come, first served. Turns out they were looking for a bag to sell coffee beans to the customer. They eventually found the bags, but it wasn't labeled for what they were selling the customer. So they crossed out the incorrect blend and wrote the correct blend on the bag. While I was there, the customer ahead of me had to bring his order back to be corrected, and the bag customer who came in after me also had to have his drink adjusted. So out of 5 customers total while I was there, 3 customers didn't get a perfect product, and two actually complained, although they weren't angry, and both drinks were corrected. Since this business has two other locations which both have been open for a while, I would have expected them to have perfected their processes and products at this new location by now. For this reason I chose 3 instead of 4 stars. As a supporter of black-owned businesses, I want this place to thrive, but the organization of the workflow and attention to detail need a bit of improvement. read more

This coffee shop is in the right location for me. I visit often the start of my day to be in the vibe of the black culture ambience & Neo Soul music. They have a nice selection of coffee and tea. And I have to add that my taste buds was put on to the banana cream cake here and hontey, Thank me later. Today the fair skin young waitress w/pontytail was rude. I asked for a mocha and she responded quickly you gotta tell me what you want in it. Okay somebody's not in a good mood, maybe its just one of those days. The coffee and drinks are amazing. The service is poor. The music is always blasting and there is one woman (the rest are amazing) who always has an attitude and selectively speaks to customers. When the music is loud other baristas will turn the music down. At one request, she stated she couldn't touch it unless the owner said she could, continued blasting her Bey and Summer Walker, singing at the top of her lungs. The first couple of times I went to this establishment, they were very enjoyable. Very great service with even better flavors. Definitely wanted to get seconds with my order! Then, there was today, 6/29/19. Wonderful morning, out with my lady. Why not enjoy Sip & Savor?? WELL, here's why ... We enter the business & wait to get our order taken, just to get interrupted by Mr. Shaun as he interjects with another party only for us to have to regurgitate 80% of our order back to him because apparently another party was more important after he asked for our order. Awesome! To make matters worse, my lady orders the delicious banana cupcakes and an iced banana caramel latte. Anybody wants to guess what happens next?? YES, that's right, A. FOURTH. GRADE. BANANA. JOKE. If that isn't professional, I don't know what is. It only gets better from here! Now, I feel like our order was basically ignored while this immature guy wants to interact with other parties and joke with women about a simple ingredient because our iced coffees were in the process of being made hot. Thankfully, we noticed and were able to inform Mr. Shaun. After which he had an attitude and complained. Well sir, any other time my lady and I have done business with this establishment, our order was taken and confirmed, we were never interrupted while placing an order, and there were no sexual innuendos as we simply just made an earnest attempt to place our order.
