I love it! I'm from Crown Point and every time I go back to visit the family, I try to sneak my way over to Sip. I love everything about the unique coffee shop. The character, ambiance, and hipster feel makes me feel very welcomed and at home. There's so many little keen details I could go into explain but the review would probably be too long. It's a funky little place to rewind, read some books that are scattered around, and overall just look around and enjoy the presence of everything. The staff is awesome and the coffee/espresso, food and bakery goods are great! One thing I may say is that it is very crowded and in a small in closed space (which I didn't mind at all) I can see a few people probably getting a little annoyed with all the clutter. Besides that, I cant wait to go back and visit when I come back into Crown Point! read more

I like this place and have been coming for years however the quality of sandwiches seems to be on the decline lately. I ordered a BLT today and noticed that I did not really taste the bacon. Upon inspection it had two strips of bacon for the entire sandwich which were paper thin. It's an $8.95 sandwich. I doubt this is a reflection on the staff and most likely cost cutting strategy by management but I believe I got far less than my money was worth today. read more

I was so happy to find this coffee shop! Visiting from out of town and in need of non-corporate coffee! Very artsy and cute shop. They have a nice strong espresso that punches through the milk(I got a large latte and a Mexican Mocha). The cupcakes looked delicious, the coffee menu was nice ranging from an organic Sumatra house brew to fun flavored lattes. I'll be back during my stay! Thanks guys! read more

I've been here before and I usually have great experiences, but today when trying to order food off of the menu I was told the kitchen closed at 5PM a whole four hours before closing and I was ordering around 4:45. And when I said something about closing so early the waiter had an attitude said they're cleaning up and won't make anything else. So, I just ordered a coffee that ended up being cold. Don't know what happened to the original welcoming and friendly atmosphere of the place but I do not think I will be returning anytime soon. read more

The sandwiches are as quality and well made as anything I've had in NWI.The cafe con leche was as good as the Cuban places in Chicago. This establishment definitely needs a better system of how they keep things in order. It was very disorganized. My family and I sat for a very long period of time waiting to be attended, our food and drinks weren't made correctly, and we felt uncomfortable as a whole. We realize that Crown Point is predominately white. My family is Hispanic and as soon as we walked in, we felt unwelcome. There were constant stares and the waiters attended "others" before us even when we arrived before other customers. It was just a bad experience as a whole. We never felt this way at the Sip in Highland though and that's maybe because it's in a more diverse community. read more

I recently came here with my sister while my dad and my brother went to get their hair cut at the nearby barber shop, and she had a fruit punch juice box and I ordered a Dirty Sweater Latte. My wait for my drink was incredibly long (and I don't like being rude by going up and such), so I just thought that it was because they were so busy (they did have a lot of people at the time) so I just decided to wait, and tried to connect to the wifi, but it wouldn't connect. And before I knew it, my dad and brother had arrived before my drink did! My dad convinced me to go back up, and I asked about it, only to be told that they must've sent my drink out with somebody else! Usually, I'm pretty relaxed about mistakes like that, but it was very annoying. So I just asked for it to go. The drink itself was pretty good, once it cooled off and had some sweetener in it (admittedly, I have a bit of a sweet tooth), so at least I liked the drink. My previous visits have been far better, but this was just... agonizingly slow and aggravating. I think that they can't handle it when there's so many customers (not good, considering the location and popularity of coffee houses/cafes), but I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt because the two servers were young men (roughly just out of highschool or college aged), and the women making drinks was just as young. I just hope that my next trip will be better. read more

If I could give this place ZERO STARS I would! My friend drank all of her water, so the waitress filled it up again. She took a sip & IT WAS BLEACH!!!! The owner was not concerned & tried talking around the situation. She kept making excuses like: "all water has bleach in it" or "it wasn't enough to make you sick." THERE SHOULD NOT BE BLEACH IN HER WATER PERIOD. She burned her throat & mouth. Unacceptable. Stay away! read more

The service was extremely slow, drinks subpar and the only person making drinks said he was still learning. If you're still learning you shouldn't be making drinks alone. $20 for terrible drinks and the only reason I'll even give one star is because the baked goods weren't bad. Also, they were out of creamer when my brother-in-law asked for it; they said the shipment hadn't come in yet. If it were my business, I'd go to the Dollar General down the street and buy two packs of creamer myself. If you want a great coffee house with good atmosphere, drinks and service - the trip to Chicago will be worth it instead of wasting half a tank of gas money at Sip. Use that money and drive to Chicago for a proper coffee house. I see what they're doing: trying to bring that small business non-corporate chain coffee shop to CP, but just because the idea is good doesn't mean it's executed how it should be. read more

Had the same problem with people on our 2nd experience. This time we sat by a table and waited for them to finish. Smart right? My friend and i were standing up holding our drinks and food because the waitress was on her way over to clean the now empty table when i almost get hit by a coat flying thru the air! (mind u the waitress is LOOKING at us) The coat lands on the messy table. I stood dumbfounded after the waitress greeted them and helped them sit at MY table. The one i has sat next to for a half hour and was currently STANDING next to holding all my stuff. I even said outloud 'are you fucking kidding me?' The customer who stole my table looked at me and laughed - from the conversation ide say the waitress knew them. After eating out of my lap and covering my black work clothes with Parmesan cheese i will have to say your out of chances from me. Shame to have such good food and drinks and such shitty staff. read more

Here's the deal. I love almost everything about this place....but the drinks. I've tried several different coffee and tea drinks and I don't like any of them! I'm not a coffee connoisseur, so I can't really pinpoint why I don't care for them, except that I just don't think they taste good. I would love nothing more than to like them, but I just don't. Anyway, on to the rest. When I'm out walking the square, I will almost always stop here for a bite to eat. When the weather is warm, they have a good amount of outside tables, which helps alleviate some of the busyness inside, because it can get super crowded during peak times. I usually go inside to order, tell them I'm sitting outside and they bring everything out. Easy peasy. I'll always get a California bagel or an egg salad on a croissant. The egg salad comes with whatever pasta salad they've whipped up that day which is almost always really flavorful. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood! read more

I have been to this coffee shop many times in the past and have been pleased with the service, but after my experience this morning I will not be returning to support this business...after waiting for two breakfast sandwiches for 30 Min, and watching countless tables around us receive there meals who ordered after us ours was brought out and it was wrong! The waitress stated that they only had one cook, if you only have one cook then let people know that on the front end its not that hard, allow your customers to decide if they have 30min+ to sit around. I went inside and asked for a refund, and the girl at the register stated she was sorry, and she asked me if we would like them to box up the food to go, I stated yes please, after 10 more minutes of waiting my husband went inside to ask and he was told they aren't boxing up the food for us. This is a nest little eclectic place on the square in Crown Point. I frequent this place for coffee and breakfast. They have their bagel heads which are bagels with a variety of items on them from eggs to spinach or cheese, you can order them how you like. You can get a lot of food and a custom order drink for under $10 during breakfast. Ask for the Nutella made with almond milk if you like lattes. read more
