When we purchased our house, the marble tiles and grout lines in our kitchen were in pretty bad shape (see picture). We researched companies that specializes in marble and ran into Sir grout. Techs that came out were pleasant and hard working, so that's why this review is getting two stars, and the outcome of course looks much better than what I started with. BTW, their names were Jose T. and Felix C. The completely unexpected issue came today when I was told that my bathroom floor would not/could not be grouted. I had called the company originally to schedule an in-home free consultation for cleaning, grouting, and sealing of my bathroom shower tile and bathroom floor tile. The day before the appointment, John had called me to let me know he had some unforeseen issue that came up, and so he couldn't make it out here, unless I was able to hours earlier, and I couldn't do that and suggested we reschedule then. He said he didn't want to reschedule and could probably quote me/send me a proposal if I just sent him pictures of the bathroom, which I did, and got the quote and agreed to have them perform the job. So the proposal stated "clean and color seal" shower tile and "clean and clear seal" the bathroom tile floor (in addition to some caulking). I figured they would be using the clear seal on my floor tile, after grouting it, since it is white. I had absolutely NO idea that meant they were not going to grout my bathroom floor tile at all. Why would I call a grouting company for a quote to grout my bathroom floor if all they were going to do was clean it and put a seal coat on it?!? This issue most certainly could have been addressed had I in fact had the in-person quote, I have no doubt. And trying to pull hairs to find out what the heck time they were going to be coming out here to perform the job was another thing, but that didn't cost me anything other than time; but just FYI, their communication is slim and none. All in all this project -- which as far as grouting was concerned was very minimal, a small shower area -- boiled down to $475 an hour to get my bathroom tile cleaned. If you have that kind of money to burn, go for it. I probably would have been better off just hiring a good cleaning lady to come out here and do a deep scrub for me for about $50 or $75. And definitely get an in-person estimate at all costs! I would have discussed what color grout I had in mind for the floor at the time and could have had things clarified right then and there. I never would have spent $1,800 on this project had I known my floor tile would not be getting grouted. Two guys, four hours of work. read more

I've used Sir Grout twice on my rental property, and both times they exceeded my expectations. The first instance involved cleaning and sealing natural stone showers (including slate) - they did a fantastic job which became even more apparent 18 months later when tenants who NEVER cleaned moved out and cleaning was still a breeze. The second instance was an emergency, as I needed a number of issues addressed in a day after tenants moved out leaving ground-in dirt in the floors, massive gouges in the floors, drilled holes in tile, etc. After becoming aware of my predicament (new tenants moving in the next day), the owner of Sir Grout rearranged their Friday schedule so my new tenants move-in could go on as planned. Tre from Sir Grout stayed late Friday night getting the floors squared away while I ran all over the house fixing other things. I would not hesitate to reco these guys to anyone. read more

I cannot recommend Dan and his crew highly enough. We have a slate floor in our family room and it was looking horrible thanks to heavy use, dogs, and lack of cleaning on our part. The crew that arrived was fantastic and explained each step in the process carefully. The floor now looks fantastic. They were even careful to explain one step that they could not perform because our tiles are quite uneven by design on the edges and they were quick to point out that our cost would be $250 less without this step. read more

I'm sad to report a disappointing experience with Sir Grout. Pluses: The man who worked on the caulk and grout bathroom was very friendly and on time. The man who gave my husband the initial consultation was also friendly and on time. Cons: 1. Communication was not great. There were some ambiguities in our quote that we wanted to clarify. My husband tried to reach out to SG by email and phone the morning of the day before our visit but received no reply. Late that afternoon I received a call and email asking me to confirm our next-day appointment ASAP and attaching instructions that clearly should have been sent over a week before. My husband and I had clearly indicated our relationship previously. Additionally, we heard conflicting stories from both representatives about whether the grout on the shower floor should be color sealed. Ultimately it wasn't (the second employee told us it wasn't good for high-traffic areas), although it was the biggest area we had looked forward to seeing cleaned up. Read on for more. 2. The job was poorly done. (i) We needed some grout to match the color of our brown-beige travertine tile where it had separated a little, creating an uneven gap. We were assured the color could be matched. The grout that was applied was a solid medium gray that truly clashed. The tech said he didn't have a better color available. We asked him to remove it, which he did. I know there's a better match at Home Depot that I'll be applying myself. Oddly, the tech had my husband initial the color approvals on a form at the end of the visit, although we never saw the colors until they had been applied. We ultimately were not charged for this. (ii) The transparent caulk was applied really unevenly and in some places, barely covers the seam. Mold will regrow soon. I've spent less than an hour of my life applying caulk but am certain I could have done it better. (iii) Originally the shower sweep was cut about a centimeter too short, but this was fixed when we pointed it out. (iv) Color seal was skipped in one corner where it was particularly needed. (v) The biggest disappointment was in the epoxy grout lining the shower seams. We have large travertine tiles that were masterfully laid only seven years ago. We'd been told the epoxy grout would be as thin as possible. It's much thicker than we expected, and the corners in particular look sloppy (especially because a few have hardened "grout balls" on them). Degrades the look of the shower. It's not obvious they tried taping or anything when applying the grout. We had asked for examples of the type of job that would be done and were directed to photos on the website, but the photos are not annotated, so it's hard to know what you will be getting. 3. The tech cleaned up after himself minimally. We found a small piece of a broken razor tip (!) on the bathroom floor a few days later, old caulk in the bathtub and shower floor, grout bits on the bathroom counter, a small mess around the entry, and more. We also found some grout on a bathroom door that I am having trouble removing. I had just touched up the paint in the bathroom last month, so this is a real pain. Overall, we feel the quality of the workmanship in the bathroom, and its overall state, have declined as the result of this visit. It makes us pretty sad. We'd wanted to save time, but now we wish we had just done the work carefully ourselves. Photos coming soon--traveling with poor wifi at the moment. Tips: All their grout is apparently epoxy grout. This hadn't been clear to my husband during the initial consultation. Also be sure to clarify exactly what will be cleaned. Several areas we had expected to be cleaned (e.g., shower door hinges) were not. read more

Your decision to not take jobs under $500 is fine, but that information should be made clear on your website to avoid issues like this. I just spoke with someone in their Geo rgia office to schedule an appointment in Arlington Heights. None of these reviewers mentioned a minimum. Here in my area the minimum is $350. Knowing that the job will cost at least that - even before they see what work has to be done - turns me off to their service. With all the renovations we've had done in the past year, no other company had a minimum fee. Though the reviews here are great, I would rather not work with Sir Grout. I'll pass! read more

Mario did an incredible job removing stains and mold in both bathrooms in a high end condo that is 16 years old and rented for the last 10+ years. The terrible condition of the floor and shower affected every showing. Mario was nice, professional, on time and went the extra mile to make it look beautiful. I will use them again and again. I had tile cleaning and color seal service. Since they only have one guy directly works for the head quarter in Illinois, contractor came to my home **(They have many contractors. Only one branch with one guy is from Sir Grout). By the way, estimator said it would take 7-8 hours to finish my job, but he left in 3 hours. He didn't even bring either a tile cleaning machine or color sealer. So he went to Home depot to get more materials and brought the sandwich to my home (45 minutes). I just let him go, and called head quarter and told them I did not satisfy with the contractor's work. Head quarter rescheduled my appointment a week later. Only one guy directly works under Sir Grout came. He brought the tile cleaning machine for "Commercial use". Machine was very dirty, I even lifted the machine with him to not contact with my carpet AT ALL. Anyway, he cleaned my tile with the commercial using machine and just wiped my tiles with rags. He said he forgot to bring the shop vacuum... after dried, he just sprayed some tile protector and wiped it again with another rag which means "Buff" and "Tile Protection" for Sir Grout. Their estimate's description is really not far from the scam. I have no idea where these good reviews come from on Yelp, Google and their website. I suspect probably they've hired few guys to make up the reviews. read more

For some background, I was not happy with the work another contractor did when completing my bathroom renovation in the summer of 2020 (height of the uncertainty to come in the pandemic) and was desperate to have things fixed, and done right. I read reviews on Yelp and other review sites about the service that Sir Grout did in other's homes and made a call to get an estimate. I've worked with Dan twice now and he's great - providing friendly/relatable service, an affordable estimate, and scheduling my service quickly. The first service was to repair the cracked grout in my floors and nearly 2 years later, they still look new! Today, I had my second service to reseal the grout on my subway tile on the walls and surrounding the bathtub. Both times, the service men were super friendly, helpful in answering my questions, were trustworthy, and they did an excellent job. As a repeat customer, I would highly recommend them to anyone asking and will use them again on other projects I have coming up. read more

It looked better than when we moved into the place (should have been the first thing we did prior to moving in). Mitch provided me with directions on how to keep up with the clean tile after their cleaning, but this is what one should expect when you pay to have grout cleaned. What wasn't expected was the level of professionalism. When Dan came out, he provided a printed estimate within a half an hour. We set up an appointment and they showed up at the correct time. Had my stand up shower in master bath and tub in 2nd bathroom regrouted in late June 2019. Carlos and Josh were masterful. I thought about doing this job myself, but quickly realized how much work and time it would take me given I don't have all the proper tools. Those 2 came in around 8am, and were out the door shortly after 2pm. AMAZING work. Both bathrooms look brand new. Dan clearly takes this business and customer satisfaction very seriously. He came over for an estimate within a few days of first making contact, and was thorough and honest regarding what would be worthwhile for me to undertake. Although the technician was late, he called multiple times to let me know his ETA. The technicians worked much faster than had been estimated for my bathroom and were finished by the time they said they'd be. Dan called to follow up a couple of days later and responded quickly when I pointed out that they had not caulked the top of the shower. The technician came back at my convenience (and no charge) and was in and out within 10 minutes. Services included cleaning the tile, removing some mold from the bottom of the shower, caulking and sealing in the shower and clear caulking behind both the bathroom and kitchen sinks. We had Sir Grout out to repair & resurface 1 counter and then resurface 2 countertops in a home we just purchased. They are all carrara marble; one in our master bathroom, one very large counter in our kitchen and then another large counter on our wet bar in our basement. They did a really good job for a pretty decent price. We had to repair a crack in our basement bar counter after it was cracked in half during a rehab project. The repair looks like a seam now. After the project was completed, it was only about a week before it was ruined from someone putting a large container of vinegar on the kitchen counter. Arrrgggh!! I could have screamed! To see this big ring on our newly refinished marble was infuriating but Dan came right out to fix it again for a nominal fee. We are quite pleased with the results.....even though we have another etched ring on the counter again. Big thanks to Dan who offered to come out a third time to refinish it. Once we decide to refinish it we'll definitely call Sir Grout again. read more

I used sir grout to repolish and seal my marble kitchen island and limestone fireplace. They did a fantastic job-both are 10 years old but look like new. Literally EVERY stain came out. About 2 weeks after sir grout was here, we got a HUGE, glaring coffee stain on the kitchen island. I immediately called sir grout and within 24 hours they let me know that they would send someone over to polish it out for free. They came and my island is back to looking like new. My 15 year old tile floor shower started leaking into the loft below mine and quickly became a nightmare. After calling Sir Grout, Ann came over to my apartment two days later and gave me a realistic estimate to fix the tile grout in the shower. A week later a technician showed up and patched up the shower. He was professional and actually gave me a lot of extra things that weren't in the estimate - like some tile cleaner, and a new bottom to my shower door. Unfortunately after drying for 24 hours the shower was still leaking into the unit below. I don't blame the technician - I knew this was going to be very tough to solve and was a bit of trial and error with my old shower. I called Sir Grout back and immediately heard from the owner Dan - who came out to my loft 1 week later himself and worked magic - putting silicone in cracks I couldn't even see. Most importantly - the leak is now gone. I was impressed by Sir Grout's reasonableness, prompt response, professionalism, and focus on solving the actual problem - not just doing a job. I contracted with Sir Grout in the summer of 2014 to replace cracking grout in my shower stall and floor tile and to restore the color of the grout in a second shower stall. I also used their service to buff and restore the shiny finish to my bathroom counter tops and re-grout around the perimeter. I am very satisfied with the work that was done and months later everything is still looking clean and crack free! I had asked for the tile in the bathrooms and kitchen backsplash to be cleaned, sealed and have the grout repaired. I called the company back and spoke with the owner Dan, who came out to see the completed work. He stated that sealing the floor of each shower would cost an additional 350.00. The backsplash in the kitchen would have to be redone with tile applied over the existing tile. At an additional cost.
