I've been going to Siren for nearly nine years. I started at Siren when the stylist I found when I moved to Chicago moved there from another salon. While he isn't there any longer, having moved to New York, I am still at Siren and still a big fan. Nikki does my hair now and I can't say enough good things. She's friendly, personable, does a fantastic cut and style, and a beautiful job with color. She never pressures me to try something different but is ready with ideas when I'm interested in something new. I also had Rose do my make-up for my wedding late last year. I felt gorgeous! It was just enough to make the photos work, but not so much that I felt overdone. Everyone on the staff is incredibly friendly. Reception remembers my name and who I'm there to see; the manager is always on site and and says hello, even though she always seems really busy; and I've often had other stylists stop to compliment me on my cut or color - which I've never had happen at other salons. I decided to try a new salon, and after reading many reviews I decided to try Siren Salon. I booked a cut and color with OLIVER, and I had the best experience. Oliver is everything you are looking for in a stylist, personable and amazing at what he does. My hair looked beautiful when I left the salon, he just gets it. If you are looking for a new salon and change in a stylist, I highly recommend going to Oliver. I had so many compliments on my hair that evening. Couldn't be happier. *review for a massage Had a you swoop that I needed to use, was able to schedule an appt for a time that was convenient for me. (they even offered to schedule me for a light makeup retouch after I mentioned that I was going downtown after the facial!) Chic setting, I was checked in immediately and offered a beverage. My esthetician introduced herself and I was on my way to get pampered! The room itself was large, dim and comfy with music in the background. (I wish I remembered her name, she is tall, thin with gorgeous black hair) She started out with a skin analysis and some recommendations and then went to work. She did do extractions over my "troubled spots" and gave me an amazing massage. She does this thing to your ears that literally melts the tension away. I have been getting my haircut with Antonio at Siren Salon for about four years now and I couldn't recommend him or the salon more! When I brought in photos of a few celebrities with bangs that I liked, he didn't just simply say 'okay' and start cutting. Instead he started by asking me questions about WHAT I liked about these particular photos so he could understand what I was looking for. I think this shows how thoughtful he is because once he knew that I liked the bangs because they were on the longer side, were somewhat thin and cut straight across. he was able to cut me bangs that I loved and still get me compliments to this day. The salon itself is clean, airy, bright and very reasonably priced for Chicago. They only accept cash tips which is annoying but so common these days that you can't blame them. read more

This is my second time I've been to Siren Salon. Nikki has been nothing but GREAT, kind, funny, personable and most of all professional with me. I recently went from bleach blond to very dark. I took up a lot of her time and she never once seemed annoyed with me and always gave me her professional opinion. The salon is very nice and the hair washers are amazing. I wish I would have remember their names but the head rubs were the best! If I had to complain about anything it would be a coupon they didn't let me use. When you have your first appointment they give you an envelope with several coupons to use when you check out. Well, my fault I didn't open up the envelope till I got home. I'm cheap enough that I would probably only try this place with a coupon, which I had. If there is ever another coupon/groupon/youswoop get it. I had a hour long facial (with Dana) and then got 50% off a hair cut (with Kayla). I'm ashamed to say it was my first facial, and I'm afraid it won't be my last. I can see why it normally costs $90. Although my skin wasn't terrible before it was a relaxing experience and my skin did feel great afterwards. Then onto the hair cut. I have relatively simple hair and a simple style. I explained to Kayla what I've liked in the past and she went to work. Nothing fancy but I still love a good solid haircut. Best part, free bang trims, now I won't have to butcher my own in between cuts. I also ended up scheduling another appt. (25% off this time) so maybe I'll just ease myself into the price. I had a groupon for cut and highlights and to be honest i was little skeptical in the beginning because Kevin has been working there only for a year according to the website. I couldnt be more wrong!! He turned my hair into a beautiful ombre with an assymetrical bob hair cut without extra charge. He was a very good listener and very focused on what he was doing. He didnt get distracted by other people or things around while he was doing my hair. The salon itself is very cozy and all the people working there are very professional and seems nice. Before Siren Salon I went to Great Clips, oh yes you read that right. With my hair I only do a cut and for me Great Clips worked but then I went to Siren Salon and realized the nice salon experience. I've went twice now and my hair both times has turned out perfectly. Brenda was my stylist this time and she was just great! She did a beautiful job with my hair and was also super fun to talk to. I came here to dye my hair and when they finished I loved it but as soon as I got home the color on the back faded and you could've already seen the yellow & not only that my scalp was completely ruined it's super dry and has bumps in it . It saddens me to have to type up a 2 star review on this place since I had a great experience on my first visit but the second time I went was a completely different story. I went to siren salon for a keratin treatment and once for a haircut. Overall, the hair came out fine, it wasn't the best keratin treatment I've had but it certainly wasn't the worst. I really liked my haircut though. I was placed with Rosalinda for both visits. The difference between the two visits was customer service. I've hardly experienced bad customer service and sometimes when I read some reviews on yelp, I think that the reviewer may be over-exaggerating the circumstances but now I understand. During my second visit with Rosalinda, she had an assistant stylist assist with the treatment. They only talked between themselves and never to me unless they were asking me if I wanted water when I first got there and to go over what was going to be done during the visit. It wasn't outright rude but just very passive-aggressive, like I was invisible and only acknowledged when it was time to pay. The assistant had a rude tone and they both seemed annoyed if I had a question about the treatment or just a question in general. After my second question, I just gave up and sat there in silence for the next hour and a half. Again, not outright rude but I felt uncomfortable as a client. I also didn't know there were two types of keratin treatments and Rosalinda did a very poor job explaining the difference as well as confusing the pricing. When it was time to pay for the services, it was almost double what I expected to pay and Rosalinda didn't even come to the front to apologize or explain. Now this happened several months ago and the only reason I'm typing this up now is because I was talking to friends about salons and I remembered this place. Maybe they changed their focus to be better at customer service but I'm not going back to find out. read more

I got a brazilian blowout at Siren and it was the single best thing I ever did for my hair. I was afraid it was going to damage my hair in the long run, but it did just the opposite. I was addicted to flat ironing, because my hair was so damaged/frizzy from bleaching it, etc. It was a vicious cycle though cos flat ironing only made it worse in the long run. But after the blowout, it looked so good that I vowed not to blow dry or straighten again. She said it would only last 2 or 3 months, but it's been 4 months since the blowout and it still looks pretty good! All I do is shower, let it air dry, and straighten just my bangs. It's much healthier now because it allowed me to stop flat ironing. It's amazing how much hair health is restored when you stop messing with it so much! I plan on getting another one, but honestly I doubt I'll have to get it done more than twice annually. I can't recommend it enough. :-) read more

I had a fantastic color experience with Will. He was able to take my grubby brunette color and turn it into an incredible, stylish violet and blonde 'do in only two hours. It was really interesting to have the lovely associate Steffanie work with Will as he accomplished this color feat. I got a better insight into how difficult this was to do from his explanation of the process to her. This is not my first color transformation but the cool and collected Will made it seem like this wasn't hard stuff to do and magic just happened. All I know is that for all the effort and work put into it, (and Will's background as a color educator) made me feel like I was in the right hands for the crazy demands I put forth. I got more than I expected and I've gotten compliments every day since. Steffanie did my blowout and was such a sweet accompliment to my visit. Overall the salon was lovely and the staff were all turning out great work while I was there. I really believe the price is right for both Chicago and the area. I would probably be comfortable in any of their talented hands, but Will won my heart. read more

I am a dedicated client to Nubia at Siren Salon. If you want the perfect french pedi, she's your gal! I go to Siren to get my manis, pedis, and bikini wax. She does an extraordinary job every time, and in addition she is great to talk to about anything! She's like your favorite bartender that's always willing to lend an ear and still remain totally professional. Prices aren't outrageous, probably like any other salon. They offer you tea or coffee and desserts while you wait (which I've only done once for about one minute) or get your services. Good location, and parking in the back if needed. read more

[I went through the rigamarole of registering on Yelp just so I could write this review and give credit to whom it is due. ] Normally, I cut my long, straight (limp) hair every 8-10 months and just go wherever there's a coupon. Last time I landed on Siren and after reviewing the on-line stylists' bios, I booked Teddy. Teddy re-did my layers more aggressively than had been done in the past which apparently is what my long (horse) face had been asking for, but until that moment, never gotten. He never rushed the cut, took his time during the blow-out and unveiled a really great look. He was a polite, professional, kind, thoughtful and fun companion for those 60-90 minutes. Cute as can be, too! You're going to want to hug the stuffing out of him. This cut was 8-10 weeks ago and it still looks great. With Teddy, I don't want to wait another eight months between cuts, so I'll be booking another slot with him soon. The reception staff was polite (not snarky!). The decor is airy and spacious and the lighting is kind. Clean. Not too-loud music. The busy staff seemed to be happy--a nice thing to see. I thought the services were priced appropriately. I can't say enough positive things about Siren Salon. I was in need of a change from my previous stylist and was so frustrated that I walked in to this salon blind (usually a no-no). The receptionist (Christopher) was professional & incredibly nice. And yes, as other reviewers have said, they have coffee, tea, water and cookies :) I was randomly assigned to Kati during that walk-in visit over a year ago and she has been my go to girl since then. My head loves her. :) Kati knows her stuff. She is good at listening to suggestions/questions I have, and more importantly for me, she is willing to give me & my hair some direction! I appreciate a stylist being able to guide me a little bit. What do I know about hair? I am not the type of person to bring a photo in and say, "Can you make me look like X?" I am not X. My hair is not X. My hair is me. Kati gets me and my hair. I've got a professional job and need my hair to look the part without being too frumpy, not too mom-ish and not too dramatically trendy. She makes my hair look pretty and has been helping me grow it out for over a year (a good test for a stylist/client relationship!). I really, really, really like her as a stylist. Price wise, she's on the mark for experienced stylists in the area so you'll never hear a peep out of me about that. She is able to cut my son's hair too, as she has experience cutting children (esp. boys) so that they look like the cutie-patooties that they are. There's virtually no market for decent haircuts for kids (I don't ascribe to Kid Snips and have had it with barbers & Great Clips giving my kids bowl hairdo's and buzz cuts). Judging by all the guys in the salon who get their hair cut here, I think my little guy will be just fine. Other things that are good about this place-- Kati's there on Sundays when it's not so busy; they keep track of your purchases/services and offer some discounts after you purchase a certain amount; they have a refer a friend program (25% off for you and the friend is going on now, but don't hold me to it as things change); and they do appointment reminders by email (love that). Siren's a hit in my book. Kati rocks! P.S.- There is plenty of street/pay-box parking in the area since the pay boxes took over Chicago. This. Place. Rocks. As soon as you walk in the door, they take your coat and offer you coffee, tea, or water. The place is absolutely stunning, and it has an energetic, pleasant vibe to it. They are always polite and understanding when I call in to say I will be a little late, or when I have to reschedule. They offer such a wide array of services, you can get anything done here! Color, cuts, manis&pedis, wax, facials, extensions- they do it all! They also sell a variety of merchandise. They sell Bare Minerals make-up; sometimes I see cute little accessories there. Always something new. They sell high-end hair product lines like Kerastase, which I love! One day they even gave me some free little Kerastase samples- yessssssssss! Katie does AWESOME double process blonde! You get to sit on one of those back-massager things while they rinse your hair, and they give you the most divine scalp massage when they do your treatment. 5 stars for Siren Salon! read more

Where to begin???? I started going there within the first 6 months of their opening. The staff was by far the best I had ever run into until most of the stylists and desk help begin to disappear including my stylist. I never went back since 2005 until recently to take my son for a cut and maybe they were having a bad day because even the manager was rude, rolled her eyes and expected me to wait 2 hours when i had booked an appointment. Her excuse: there was no one around although many were stylists were sitting in their chairs talking or reading magazines. When i pointed that out she then said they had try to call me to let me know, I asked what number they had called and of course they didnt even have my number.
