Came to this charming and clean salon on a cold day in Chicago after reading raving reviews and LOVED my experience. Meghan is fantastic! I loved the accessibility of booking appointments (virtually), fairness of the prices, and efficiency of Meghan's artistic craft. I hadn't had a haircut in 4-5 months and must stormed in in like a wrecking ball. Meghan instantly welcomed me with open arms and made me feel comfortable. She listened intently to my preferences and ensured a meticulous yet efficient haircut. Bangs are often a menacing task (unless you know a hair stylist who knows you REAL well), and Meghan trimmed off the appropriate amount. I was in and out of the salon in less than 30 minutes. Hooray for excellent side swept bangs. $17 for a basic trim and bangs is excellent. It's equivalent to the price of Super Cuts, but the outcome equates the price of *name any world class expensive salon here.* I felt that Meghan really tried to know me by asking good questions (even if I had just come in from getting my car stuck in the snow) and made me feel at ease. In terms of the ambience in the time of COVID-19, I appreciated the hand sanitizer that greeted me upon my entrance in to the salon. I also loved the charming and clean decor of the whole salon. It's not vast by any means but does feel incredibly inviting. Of note, I expected the business owner to be more excited to greet me when I first walked in (after reading these reviews) but felt that she was slightly uninterested. It's not part of being a great hair salon, but her response made me feel weird for even asking if the salon had a snow shovel. Regardless, I still love the place and will come again. SHOUT OUT to humanitarian award - Meghan even helped me get my car unstuck from the 6+ inches of snow. She WALKED outside with me to help me troubleshoot. ***One month after cut update: Back of my head was cut way too high & uneven. It will require another month of growing out just to fix. Gents... don't bother with this place, unless you want to deal with a bad cut for two months. FML*** Original 2 star review: Walking distance from the new pad and only $15 for a men's haircut! I was hoping to call this place my new go to spot due to the high ratings, location, and price point, but Teez'd did me wrong. I had first tried to call in during open hours to see if I could snag a walk-in men's cut, but no answer. After seeing on their website they take online reservations, I went ahead and booked for the next day to give them a shot. Note that their reservation system requires a $0.75 credit card deposit in order to hold down a time slot reservation. For me, this triggered fraud alerts on my account as soon as I clicked confirm, blowing up my phone with emails and texts asking to verify this $0.75 charge. Kinda weird, but I'm just glad my bank didn't freeze/deactivate my card. I showed up right on time for my appointment the next day. Nice doggo waiting at the door greeting customers. First impressions... seems rather dark inside for a hair salon. Anyways, checked in and got seated right away and asked for a #1 fade on the side and a trim up top. She then asked #1 fade to what, and I didn't know how to respond. My whole life I've been telling past barbers and stylists a #1 fade on the side... "Uhh, just use the #1 on the clippers to clean up the sides and trim the top?" Your uncertainty makes me worried. Anyhow, I stayed put seeing I needed a cut badly to tame this chia pet I had growing on my head. While initially from where I was sitting, the cut looked fine and seemed to be going ok. I had to point out areas for her to blend the sides a bit better with the top and she did so. Seemed fine once that was done and when all was said and done, I was out within 10 minutes of first entering the shop. Paid, tipped on card, and headed out. Upon closer inspection when I got home... So many missed hairs on the back of my head and uneven cuts to blend the top from the sides. While usually in the past I've learned to just deal with bad haircuts, this time was the first I've ever called back to request a clean up. Luckily I was able to pop over later in the afternoon to get somewhat cleaned up on the uneven spots and am no longer mad about it. While the initial visit was just 10 minutes long, I felt like she could've spent a bit more time just rechecking her work rather than needing me to point out where it's uneven and in this case having to come back to do clean up work and again having to point out where the uneven spots were. One could only imagine if she had taken the entire 30 minute appointment to cut my hair and how good it might've been the first time around. Though this salon is unassuming on the outside and inside, I found it to be a great place to go for a cut and style. The prices are very reasonable (especially for Chicago), and my stylist did a great job at listening to exactly what I wanted and checking in with me throughout my appointment. Overall I would recommend! COME HERE! I had a huge color issue and I was looking for an affordable (I'm in college!) yet quality hair salon and came across Teez'd. For all the wonderful compliments Danielle gets and the price, I couldn't pass it up! Teez'd is a little place, but much better than any large salon you'll go to. I walked in one day with bright orange hair (yes, I had tried to go blonde from brunette at home) and asked for Danielle. I showed her what had happened and, even though she had other clients with appointments that day, she still managed to work with me and send me out with a wonderful blonde color that is a very nice temporary fix until my hair is nursed to health again and can handle dye. She was very understanding and helped me look like a human again! And it cost a fraction of what I thought it would! I'm going back to have her cut my hair soon too :) As mentioned before, she is a blast too! She's funny, witty, and just a cool person. She seemed to have known each of her clients well, which I've found hard to come by in other people who work in salons. I've found my new favorite salon in Chicago. read more

In a month advance, I scheduled an appointment for 10am on 10/14/17. I even kept my email confirmation, just in case. I arrived at 9:50am but the salon looked closed. The door was locked and the lights were off. Please keep in mind that it was raining cats and dogs and it was thunder storming. Since I was looking forward to this appointment, I stood outside, waiting, with my umbrella. I stood outside for 25 minutes, and still, there was no sign of anyone coming. I got into my car and called the salon so I could leave a voicemail. In the middle of leaving my voicemail, my stylist picked up. I thought it was strange that she picked up since the salon looked closed. My stylist's first sentence to me was "Your appointment was scheduled for 9am." She sounded confident, even when I tried to tell her about my email confirmation for a 10am appointment. I felt like she was blaming me for her absence. She informed me that the salon didn't have my phone number to call me (when I didn't show up at 9am), but I have received a voicemail from the salon owner previously (in May 2017, when I had my first appointment with this salon). Since I know they have my phone number and email address, I found it hard to believe that the salon didn't have my number. She ended the call, promising me she would call me back because she currently busy doing something. If she thought my appointment was at 9am, then why did the salon look closed at 9:50am? Did she leave and run some errands? I have attached a photo of what the salon looked like at 10:15am at 10/14/17, it was closed. Anyways, the stylist called me back around 1pm that day, and she gave me an insincere apology about their mishap. I felt that they didn't even consider the fact of the horrible weather that I standing outside in. In addition, I feel like I could have been better taken care of, such as recognizing that I booked this one month in advance, or remembering the horrible weather, or even offering some discount on some services for my wasted time. Lastly, the stylist couldn't book me at all that day because she was booked, which is even more frustrating. Therefore, I will not be returning. read more

i asked for a mullet. i showed 3 reference photos. the haircut itself lasted 15 mins. I came out with a pixie/pager boy haircut which was WAY shorter than i asked for. both my left and right side burns look completely different one side is shaved and the other side is longer. i trusted the hairdresser and her process because she said she had been doing this for a long time so i didn't question it until after i left the salon and broke into tears. my hair is too short to even fix and looks nothing like what i had asked for. At this point i just have to let it grow out but unfortunately i cannot say that i would return to this salon again. read more

So I went here reading all the yelp reviews. I took an appointment, thinking Danielle was the only stylist, but there is Jessica as well. Jessica did my hair. I was cutting off 10 inches for a hair donation- scary!! - and I showed Jessica a picture of a layered bob, asking her if it would work on me. I didn't think it would and thought she would go with a shorter front and longer back. Not so. She gave me the layered bob- I was rather upset about it, thinking it would only look good till I left the salon, but it looks FANTASTIC! I've been coming to Teez'd for six years, I feel so lucky to have found this place! Danielle always does a fantastic job, I've never come even close to disappointed with a cut/color. Not only that, she and Meghan are just fun to chill with. I've been to many many hair salons in Chicago, but never have I been to one that made my hair look this good. Danielle did SUCH an AMAZING job with my over grown, brassy balayage! She put in small baby lights throughout and made the color the exact shade of light brown I wanted. My hair was super thick and heavy at the bottom and she cut it so it was perfectly shaped and took some weight off. Horrible! Really. I can not believe that people are happy about a haircut in this salon! Danielle can not cut hair in layers at all! There are complete gaps in the layers; my husband was in shock, me too. Even a simple ponytail went completely wrong! I am sorry but this is simply NOT a good hairdresser for curly long hair, styled in layers! I have to go to another stylist to get the job well done (if possible since she messed up BIG time). My advise? Go to a real stylist and pay some more- you will love yourself when you look int the mirror after wards :-), you're worth it! read more

You know when you randomly stumble upon a place and all of a sudden the stars align, and you know you've found a best-kept secret, and your experience at the place is awesome and you can't wait to have the experience over and over?..... .....that's Teez'D for me! The stylist/manager Danielle is really great. She's friendly, great with hair, and her prices are lower than the area. I had Danielle give me a blowout for a wedding and she spent an hour on my hair, did exactly what I asked, and it was only $19! Other salons around Lincoln Park would be charging $60+. I have been going to Margaritas Hair Salon which was the former salon at this space for over 10 years. When Teez'D took it over, I decided to give it a chance. The hair cuts I have received here have been excellent, and the price is a great value for the quality of hair cut that you get. The quality of the hair cut was comparable to Halo or John Allan's. I also like that they now take reservations! There has also been extensive renovation that they have done, and its looks a lot nicer than what it was before. These ladies hook up the fade like no one else. I get compliments all the time on the inscriptions I have Jessica write on the back of my head. Since I live down the street I often like to pop in randomly and quote Lao Tzu and Nietzsche for the clients getting their dos done. This usually occurs after I've done a few shots of barbicide, followed by a 2-minute freestyle about Jessica's skills with a pair of scissors. Danielle is also quite excellent at her job of telling me to "get the f*ck out of here" after my performance is complete. My only beef with this joint is the lack of real plants, which I plan to remedy on my next trip to Menards. Better clear some space ladies, because I'm about to hook up the feng shui. I have long, thick, curly hair and was extremely skittish of getting it cut after a bad experience with some razoring in a salon in NY. Danielle did EXACTLY what I wanted. She took just a little bit off, but managed to shape it perfectly so it has miles of style and I can just wash n go without blow-drying after the gym every day. I'm now a customer for life. It is so hard to find a stylist who understands thick and curly hair. She only charges $25 for a wash, cut and style with a blow dryer and flat iron. SO reasonable! Also, she washes it herself so you don't have multiple people to tip. Jessica said if she saw anyone anywhere near my head with a razor again she'd knock it out of their hands. read more

This was my second time getting a Keratin treatment at Teez'd...and I have to say, Jessica does a fantastic job. I am biracial and have very curly hair that is kinky in some spots, and straighter in others. Jessica is quick, gentle, and just really great to sit and talk with for 2 hours. I've told her twice now how great it is to see someone who doesn't make me look like a crazy person while doing my hair (lot's of stylists blow my hair up and out while doing the keratin...now why would that make sense if the whole point of it is to make my hair move down?). The best part is the treatment is only $180, $250 if you get the product that comes with. That is a STEAL in this city for a good keratin treatment. I would absolutely recommend this place to everyone - while I have been sitting in the chair for hours getting this treatment done I have seen lot's of people come in. So the reviews were accurate! I made an appointment here with Danielle and she was awesome. It was a very laid back atmosphere considering it's just her running the place, and it felt super comfortable to just sit there and talk with her while my color set. I used to get all my haircuts at the discount chains (hair cuttery, great clips, etc.) because I believed my dashing good looks were enough to overcome the consistently bad haircuts I would receive. This was the first salon I went to after moving to Chicago. I had done my research on respectable salons around the area and they all were in the $40-80. Not going to lie, I was on a budget and didn't want to spend more than $30 on a trim and new bangs. I read great things on Yelp so I came here. I made an appointment/reservation and there was no long wait. From past experience, I knew it was smart to bring a picture of what you wanted to show the stylist. It's hard to picture a certain cut/style without a visual. So I would definitely recommend others to do the same. If you have any concerns about your hair thickness and its effect on a certain length, definitely ask for someone's opinion. I've definitely had that issue in the past. The stylist knew exactly what I wanted and she was even able to make a few changes when I asked. The price was only about $20-25. Don't forget to tip! The salon is pretty much by the DePaul campus. It wasn't a terribly long walk from the el. The salon is slightly below street level, you have to go down steps when you enter. It's rather small, but it was enough for their functional purposes. It was clean and it wasn't crowded at all. The stylists were really nice and polite. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a cut on a budget! read more

I searched far and wide for a hair stylist for my wedding and I'm so pleased to have found Danielle through a friend's recommendation. My hair is really short and presents a challenge for updo/formal hair do but no worries, Danielle figured it out on the first try! We did a trial together and I was happy with what she came up with.
