Siroodang consistently has good quality, great taste sweets and desserts that embody the true Korean culture. Their red bean is homemade, and plus they have sesame oil and perilla oil that are hand pressed. Their mochi is a must try and is extremely tasty and chewy. The only downside and the reason why I gave 4 stars is the price--they are quite expensive. Mochi cost $4 each as well and there are no rewards program nor discounts. Otherwise, overall was a great experience

Been craving fresh Korean rice cake and tried their ssot injeolmi and black sesame rice cake. They both were very tasty and super chewy. These taste like mochi but healthier and less sweet compared to y Japanese mochi.

Siroodang is my GO-TO spot in Ktown Plaza for rice cakes - the small ones are great sizes to enjoy as a snack. The pumpkin, mugwort, blueberry and strawberry flavored square rice cakes are all so delicious and not too sweet. I love the soft injeolmi one stuffed with red beans and walnuts. *they only accept cash for under $10

Handmade Choo Seok Song Pyeon was so good from this place. It was a little crowded and busy at that moment but it was worth wait a bit. Best Rice Cake store in LA.

    Yakshig

Got yakshig ($7.50). It contains, " sweet rice, jujube, chestnut, pine nut, peas." This is sweet, but not extremely so. I liked it, but may sister didn't. Service is good. They sells powders, some for drinking & some for face masks too.

The store won't let you touch anything. Somewhat okay considering disease and infection control. Their prices are higher than the normal, but food and snack presentation is much better than most places. Pretty much paying for the cuteness factor. I used this store to place an order for 6 pieces of rice cake box for my mom's funeral service. It came out to about $25 per box. The rice cakes were delicious. The way they packaged everything exceeded my standards.

Best rice cakes in Los Angeles. Every time I'm in town, I make a huge pre-order for their dduks or some variation of rice cakes. Everything made fresh and with high quality ingredients. Favorite thing to order is the chocolate dduk. But you'll need to call and pre-order a week in advanced and order 6. My family buys in bulk and freezes them all if we don't finish within a day. And you simply steam them when you're ready. Dropped a star because the young lady in the front of the store isn't so friendly or helpful. She looks like she doesn't want to be there. And very curt. Try to go when the manager is there and they'll sometimes give you some extra goodies

I almost broke my teeth eating their rice cake it had some kind of hard object. Don't know what it is.... Crazy! Do not recommend this place to anyone!

pink square mochi texture! between a steamed bun and Japanese mochi
    Jessica L.

Quick summary: Cute little shop offering a wide variety of mochi in different flavors and textures, all at very reasonable prices. I'd come back to try more! - Injeolmi mochi - Super soft! Awesome texture with a good amount of injeolmi powder. The mochi are unsweetened, or barely sweetned, and the injeolmi flavor is pretty subtle on its own. Perhaps that's just the default, but I think I might've preferred the black sesame one more. - Pink mochi square - This was still warm when I bought it! I thought this would be strawberry flavor, but it's not and frankly I don't know what it is. It's good though! Slightly sweet with a few chunks of red something here and there. I thought it would be a firmer, sticky mochi similar to Japanese mochi, but it's actually a cross between a steamed bun texture and Japanese mochi. Really interesting and I enjoyed it a lot!

I'm not incredibly familiar with Korean sweet rice cake snacks. I walk past this shop every time I visit this plaza but have always been a bit too intimidated to stop inside to look around so have mostly window-shopped until this weekend. I picked up the rice cakes with sesame inside, a square pink-colored cake with the heart design in the middle and a brown-colored rice cake with actual grains of rice dotted with toppings like jujubes, pine nuts, peas, etc. Everything was quite delicious, especially the former 2. The cake was raspberry or strawberry flavored. It had a nice, chewy texture. I wish I have gotten the other ones to try, also (cakes in the other colors/flavors). The brownish rice cake made with actual grains of rice with the toppings was good but quite foreign to me. It's sweet, herbaceous and slightly savory all the the same time. These snacks are very filling. I made a meal out of that pink cake with the heart.

Baeksulki with 4type of options. ($3 each)

Since a set of six mochi costs $24, it works out to about $4 each, which is a bit pricey.

She took me here. The place was very clean and tidy with a lot of different types of sweet treats. I was there for one thing only. I did ask the gal working if they were made that day and she said yes. We ordered a raspberry, an orange, a coffee bean and the popular mango. This was my 2nd time trying these and our hopes were high BUT the raspberry was just awful the filling was strange and it had just raspberry jam inside,I dint eat it. The mango was okay so we shared that. The coffee bean was just awful as well so we didn't finish that either. The orange was the best of the group but overall just a disappointing experience once again because these are not cheap. I'm starting to think I might just have to give up my journey to find these although there are some places in Vegas that look promising. I don't think Reno has any bakeries that make these. They look so beautiful but the taste is a let down.

There were endless selection of salt bread and different flavoured buns which all looked delicious. As we were browsing and deciding, the lady at the counter was kind enough to offer us a sample of the butter rice cake. The butter tteok tasted pretty good on the spot so we bought a pack of 5 back home along with a hot and spicy salt bread and corn soboro. The butter rice cakes were already cold and hard when we got home, the inside was dense and chewy in a bad way. I didn't want them to go to waste so I tried reheating them in the over for a few minutes. It was warm but the texture never recovered, everything just got more dense and hard. The hot and spicy salt bread looked like a winner, but when we bit into it, the bread was just crunchy and overly buttery without a lot of flavour. The inside did not have the soft pillowy texture you'd expect from salt bread. The filling was a budget hot dog and some corn mixed with mayo. We cut the bread in half and my boyfriend said his piece had way too much mayo and mine barely had any. I grabbed the corn soboro thinking it would be delicious since it was corn season but was the most disappointed by it. I reheated the bread again to get the cookie top to crisp up. The soboro top didn't have a lot of crunch or flavour, it was just a layer of sweetness with no texture. The corn cream filling was not good, the corn was dehydrated and had no flavour at all. It honestly tasted a bit like canned corn that's over baked, I ended up scooping it out because the bread was better without it. Maybe it's better to go earlier when the baked goods are fresh and eat it there instead of taking it home.

We returned the sandwich as asked them to grill it longer. It took so long to recook that we had to leave and they gave it to us in a togo box without even an apology. Even the bread that they serve with the meal has gone downhill. We ended up buying a baguette. At least the baguettes are still decent. But overall a disappointing lunch.
