Kenny is the main guy there and he takes SUCH amazing care of my clothing. I walk in once a month he greets me with a loud "Hello Sarah" and a fantastic smile. This is by far the brightest laundry mat I've ever experienced, always EXTREMELY clean and sterile but somehow it has a warm and homey vibe to chill and do laundry. I've had things altered here, dry cleaned and done my own laundry and i have to say I travel 30 mins to get my laundry clean! And having a Philz Coffee right next door is an extra perk! read more

The attendants here are beyond nice. They are super duper nice. I used to do wash and fold but now I decided to save some money and do it myself... plus here I can use whatever products I want on my clothes and I don't lose socks and such... or get a random woman's bikini bottom in my laundry... anyone missing a lime green one? The machines are HUGE... They can swallow more than my ex. Filthy minded people - he likes food. Seriously, they can fit several loads at once (ooh still filthy sounding.) The giant washer washed like my entire bedding, comforter and all! And the dryers are even bigger. Plus it is next to Philz and there is Wi-Fi... can't go wrong! Plus you can go to the flower shop nearby and buy someone you like some flowers! Or yourself if you want. Again, thank you attendants... For those of you not in the know, I work in a day spa. Day spas generate quite a bit of laundry. Well, when our dryer was temporarily disabled recently, my and my co-worker were assigned the task of hauling wet sheets and towels over to Sit & Spin to dry. The ladies who work here were pretty helpful, in the sense that we had no idea how to run their machines and so they did it for us. They even let us pay after each load, rather than before, to make sure we wouldn't have to add more time to the drier. I can't remember the exact amount, but I think it was about two bucks for 40-ish minutes, and I have no idea if thats good or not. Although I didn't take advantage of it, I liked the concept of having a coffee shop attached to a laundromat. Ok, I'm kind of lying. I sat at one of their outdoor tables to eat my Thai food from down the street, which was convenient (and better than having to walk back to work, only to turn around shortly thereafter). I'm just glad that I get to do my laundry in my apartment building. Laundromats are confusing. I'm also glad that the dryer at work was back in action quickly. It was kind of fun for one day, but I bet it would have gotten old fast. read more

Mostly, because of the prices - $2.75 for a cup (not pot, and not impressively large cup) of (good but not fabulous) tea? $1.50 for a teensy tiny cookie that I could get cheaper at Hot Cookie (which is saying a lot)? Yeah, so, only if you need free wi-fi and can't make it up to Jumpin' Java should you go here, or if you're tired of your local laundromat (that ain't cheap either). One of my favorite weekly chores is my trip to do laundry at sit and spin. This is by far the cleanest most inviting laundromat I've ever visited. They spare no expense on the atmosphere (the walls are clean and painted, the counters are marble, the lighting warm, even the bathroom is clean and well stocked) When I go in all the machines are in good working order and not leaking on the floor. If by some chance a machine is down one week it is working again by my next visit. About their system: They use stored value cards instead of change for the machines. This means you don't need to hoard quarters or carry sacks of change, you can fill your card at their machine with ones fives tens or twenty dollar bills. An earlier reviewer said there was a 75 cent surcharge on each top up but this is untrue. There is only a charge when purchasing the card and if you are visiting from outside the area and don't intend to be back I know that the attendants will let you use their cards and only charge you for the time on the machines. I also find this system very convenient because if you do not have cash on hand they will take your credit/debit card at the counter. A little about the attendants/owners. Jeti who is usually there when I go in as absolutely fabulous. She remembers my name and my boyfriends name and always says hello, thank you and good-bye. Once we left a load in the dryer and forgot it, when my BF came to pick it up the clothes were waiting and folded. Once when in a hurry I accidentally ran an empty machine leaving my clothes unwashed when I returned; even though it was my fault they refunded the cost of the load without my even asking. I get clothes repaired and altered there fairly often and find the prices are fair and reasonable (about $2-6 for repairs; I think it cost me 15 to take is suit jacket; they even replaced a button for free once) if there was a cheaper place in the neighborhood I do not think I would move my business, the service is too good and the environment to friendly. read more

This place is perfect for getting your clothes cleaned. It's owned by a small family, and the dad passed away. I remember Khanh, and he really was a great man. Super nice and a caring man. We have a washer/dryer in our building so I just came here to wash our comforter. The service is amazing - the lady who works here offered me a "loaner" card so I wouldn't have to pay for one (since we'd only be coming by sporadically), and even gave me the change remaining on the card after I was done! I liked having someone on the premises, to keep an eye on clothes and address any problems with the machines (which I didn't experience here, but have at other laundromats where all you can do is leave a voicemail and wait for someone to show up). This review is for their alterations services only, as I have yet to try their laundry service. I haven't written a review in a while, but felt compelled to after a the last few great experiences I had here (taking in dresses, hemming jeans, sewing rips, and what not) . The staff is very patient and accommodating in making sure to know exactly what you need done with the right measurements, ect. They've taken on task that other spots couldn't, and despite not specifically specializing in tailoring they get the job done well for the lowest price possible compared to others around. Great location! Their machines only take CASH and you have to purchase their card that feeds the machines. Luckily there is a BOA right down the street (about 3 blocks on 18th/Castro). Yeti, the lady that works there most of the time if super helpful and sweet! I love chatting with her! Also, they have free WI-FI in the laundry matt and at Bernie's cafe - a friendly neighborhood cafe you can sit and chill/work at. The Hazelnut Iced Latte is delicious! Lastly, they are dog friendly! :) You can bring your pup there and hang in the cafe while you sit and spin! Love this place! I came here after searching for a tailor and that's when I met Kenny. He doesn't normally do this, though Sit&Spin DOES do simple alterations. He was like hey no problem, free of charge & happily took my measurements for me when honestly he was busy with a bunch of other stuff. Really saved me in a bind. Thank you so much! I have never had to go to laundromat before and I was not looking forward to it. After doing laundry at Sit and Spin yesterday, I have to say I was thoroughly impressed! I will admit that I have nothing to compare it to other than doing laundry in my own garage, but my experience was quite positive! It was actually cleaner than my garage, LOL! The woman that worked there was very friendly and helpful. They have an Easy Card system so you can just keep reloading the amount on your account. I did not like the idea of coin-operated laundry and am happy to not have to deal with it! The granite folding island in the middle was very spacious and there were open washers and dryers when we walked in. The have Wi-Fi, a clean customer restroom and Philz Coffe is right next door. There is also a little Indian restaurant on the corner (Kasa) that was quick, tasty, and affordable. There were plenty of laundry carts available to use and they also offer alterations and drop-off over night washing and folding. The washers and dryers are triple capacity, so make sure to bring a good amount of laundry so you get your money's worth. I look forward to coming back and doing more laundry! . . . I can't say enough positive about Sit and Spin. (I give it four stars because there's always got to be room for improvement, I guess?) The people I've met who work there are wonderful, the place is clean and well designed, there is free WiFi, it's in the heart of the Castro, and I have to say I had the best meal I have ever had at a laundromat. I highly recommend the "Adult Grilled Cheese Sandwich" with coleslaw. I sometimes go there if I just want good coffee/snacks and WiFi access but actually even did laundry there. The washers/driers all have names which makes it easy to find your clothes again, if you sometimes get distracted in the Castro (like me). If you must do air your dirty laundry in public, this is the place to do it. read more

I've lived in the Castro on-and-off for years, so I've passed by Sit & Spin quite a few times before actually taking the laundromat plunge for the first time...let me say, so glad my first experience was here! The machines are all well-kept, clean, and easy to use. They have two large machines that can actually wash 6 loads of laundry at once - pretty amazing if you have about two months worth of laundry to finish in an hour. The regular machines are great too and can definitely handle about 3-loads of laundry (I didn't realize this until after I started a bunch of unnecessary loads). True reason this place takes the cake? The lady running the laundromat was extremely sweet! I didn't have enough cash on my to start all of my laundry at once, so she loaned me some money so I could get everything started and then pop over to the ATM to pay her back - talk about amazing customer service! Just note, the machines are on a pre-pay card type system (think MUNI) and the machines that load the cards with money only accept dollar bills - no change. Cheers! read more

Always friendly and on time, this place is my favorite spot for my laundry and laundry for my clients ( I own a personal assistance/ Lifestyle Management company). After a few times you're greeted like a friend and always asked how you're doing. Their rush service is great too with a 4 hour turn around which is perfect for my last minute clients, and they don't charge an inflated rate or skip out on quality. Like 4.6 stars, but it rounds up for 5. These reviews very much need an update. The cafe was once vacant, but now filled up again by Philz Coffee from down the street. They essentially moved the whole place verbatim as it was before. Now it's the best of both worlds, a full on coffee shop (with customers this time!) and excellent laundromat. If I must sit for an hour and show a slew of gay men my dirty underwear, this is the only place I'll go. The machines are new and fully functional, you never have to deal with cash (only stored value cards), and there's almost always some friendly to talk to. And if you have dry cleaning or drop off, there's a 15-minute spot out front, that's hopefully not taken! I must echo the other review and deduct 0.4 stars for the Chinese restaurant-style handwritten signs everywhere, or at least badly-spelled Engrish on the printed ones, but that's my only beef. :-) read more

As someone new to the city and have never done laundry outside of my living unit before, this was a very positive experience for me. It cost me about $6 to wash and dry myself. The machines all have names to making remembering a lot easier and they do their jobs fast. It took me 23 minutes to wash and about 22 minutes to dry; I had a smallish load. The lady who runs this shop was extremely nice and helpful. She watches the place so you can take a stroll if you want while your laundry is running. There is a restroom and a place to sit while you're waiting. It's also right next to a coffee shop with wifi. read more

so initially when we moved here, we were put-off by the prices- its kinda high. BUT... there's plenty of good reasons: there is ALWAYS someone on premise, so you don't have to worry about the usual homeless / crazies / drug addled pan-handler crap like everywhere else. Your clothes won't get stolen, your soap won't get jacked, you won't get hassled. (Hey, I shoot from the hip, if this is not P.C. for you, then you need to lighten up. That's simply how it is.) ALSO! All the washers are triple load and well-maintained! If there is a problem with your money, or leaks, you don't call a voicemail and wait to get back and say good-bye to your money or clothes stuck in a locked machine. They'll fix it right then and there, and they even NAMED EACH MACHINE, which is pretty cute. It is clean, the woman who works there is positively a GEM, always remembers our faces, and has a smile. They also have drop-off service, which rocks on those weeks when I've got too much to do. Need a coffee? It's attached to Philz. Yes! read more

I went to Sit & Spin to launder my bed since I had a recent Bed Bug infestation. To kill be bugs everything needs to be washed and dried on high - dried for at least 40 mins. One of the driers I was using did not work, when I pointed it out to the attendent he said he know's. Why did he let me put my laundry in that drier and watched the whole time? When I went back to the drier everything was still wet. He put 20 mins on another drier for me to dry my bedding. I hope it was enough to kill the bed bugs and their eggs! He then put another load into the drier that was not working - I feel sorry for whoever those clothes belong to! read more

i spend about $17 every 10 days or so when i do laundry, and it's usually a little over 25 lbs of laundry. loads = $3.95, and dryers are 0.40 / 7 minutes. its kind of expensive, but its a comfortable place to hang out, there's free wifi, a clean bathroom, it's safe, and the owners are wonderful. the guy who owns this laundromat is really sweet and helpful. they keep the place VERY clean, and are always around to offer you assistance, answer questions, fix things, etc. sometimes i ask them questions about how to wash a particular item, if it's unusual, and other times they'll come up and give you suggestions if they see you doing something they have an idea about [telling you to more things in one machine, etc]. sometimes the dryers don't get hot...which is annoying, because i've set it for 18 minutes and walked away, and then come back at the end to find my stuff wet. however, the owners apologize and fix the machine, and give you credit for the money that you wasted. now that its happened to me, i know to stick around for a few minutes to make sure that the machine gets hot. i use the large machines in the back for $6.95. definitely a good way to save money! you can put at least 2 of the littler loads into those. free wifi, clean, safe, cafe attached....great laundromat. read more

Not the same Sit and Spin in '07, kids. Walked up to find a bunch of a hand-written signs on the windows... thought it turned into a chinese restaurant. Nope.. the washers are still here. And the dryers.. but the cafe isn't. Sign says they stopped food service. So, no soup for you. I just needed to use the wifi and lady said it was ten dollars an hour if I wasn't doing my laundry. Obviously new owners? That's no way to make friends with your new neighbors... and clueless about how much to charge for wifi usage to begin with. read more

I used to like this place until now. It is Sunday morning and if all dryers are in use, expect to spend about 4 hours more than you should have to. They apparently installed too much equipment to be all in use at the same time. Wonderful place. Easy, fast and the woman who works there is lovely! So helpful and attentive. Plus while waiting I had wifi and a spot of tea at Bernie's right there (super nice staff at Bernie's). Clean, easy to use machines. I loaded up a card and whatever I didn't use they reimbursed (I only needed a one time situation). For those who use it all the time you easily load up your card. Sit and spin -- never felt so so good, is a clean cute upscale Laundromat / cafe. I love sit and spin and you will too. a laundry oasis in the heart of Castro-- go ahead grab a cup of coffee and a seat in there cafe as your bed sheets wash, or maybe you rather surf the net on your lap top or use on of there computer 5.00 an hour or 3.00 dollars for 15 min.. Sit Spin has it all. Some of best feature are a attentive service, no homeless people hanging out. Hey it's the city-- (if you live here that's a blessing! ) The huge TV to distract you should you forget your computer. The free wireless, Granite tops to fold your laundry on. clean washers and dryer that are named jay, Jenny and so on. The bath room is a show room, with tiny green tiles and a clean fresh smell and a censored sink to wash in. The food is ok. there staff is friendly, helpful. the cost is 3.20 dollars a wash and .25 cents to dry for 6 min. and yes it drys quick. I had a full load of jeans dried in 12 min .50 cents. A small price to pay for a clean, safe relaxing environment. laundry never was so quick. If you want to drop it off they offer a service for that as well. I highly recommend Sit and Spin-- never a wait and always a nice chilled experience. read more

As far as I am convinced this is the most reliable laundromat in SF. The women are so very helpful, and though a bit pricey, I don't think I could come across better washes with such personable staff on hand. They even gave me trash bags, accompanied with such enthusiasm, when they saw my bags had torn. They understood that is was my first time there and immediately helped me with everything I would have asked for help with anyway. So great. So clean.
