I've eaten at this Sizzler location 3 times now and every time I promise myself that I'm never going back. This time I mean it! Last time I was there I ordered the steak and fried shrimp and got the salad bar as an add-on. The shrimp was fine, but let me tell you about this steak. It was the worst. I noticed on the menu that most steaks are listed by the cut (NY strip, rib eye, etc.). But the steak I ordered was just listed as "steak" The "steak" that I got was a cut I've never seen in my entire life. Not sure what part of the cow it was from. Not even 100% sure that it was cow. I was so tough that I was unable to chew it. Ended up swallowing chunks of it whole. I'm sure my butthole loved that a few hours later. On to the salad bar... Most things on the salad bar I'm sure came out of a can which is to be expected at a sizzler. But the desserts have me baffled. They had some kind of mystery fluff. It wasn't bad but it was hard to figure out what it was. Turns out it was key lime flavored. The other mystery fluff was they served was candy cane cheesecake. About this... who the heck has ever eaten cheesecake and thought to themselves "this cheesecake needs some crushed up candy cane"? NOBODY EVER. NOT EVEN ONCE. NEVER. I would have rather eaten grocery store cheesecake than the fluff that nobody asked for. They also had soft serve ice cream. The color of the vanilla ice cream was a shade of yellow that doesn't exist in nature. Also, the ice cream was grainy. Never had to chew ice cream before. First time for everything. Sizzler does another thing that baffles me. When you pay at the front counter you're given the option to leave a tip. I'm not a fan of giving a tip before the service I'm tipping for has been performed, but I guess that's just how its done these days. But rather than applying the tip to the total cost of the bill, they swipe your card and give you cash back for the tip amount and you leave the cash on your table. I've never seen a restaurant do that before. Also, when our server brought out our food he snatched the cash off the table almost right away. Now that he had his cash in hand there was no longer any incentive to give us more clean plates or refill our drinks. I had to practically shoot a flair gun in the sky to get a refill on my iced tea. I was there with my girlfriend and her kids and they had leftovers they wanted to take home. My gf son ran up to the counter to ask for a to-go container. He was told that he would need to ask our Where's Waldo server for the container. We sat there for about 10 minutes and never saw the server again. We ended up leaving without the leftovers. Anyhow, this time I mean it. I will not be going back. On a positive note the restaurant was clean and the bathroom was in good shape. read more

Excited to try for the first time. It was our fault. We got there late - an hour before closing. The carnage! Every table needed bussing. Food strewn all over. The salad bar had been mauled. Carla the night supervisor was awesome, got us settled, we ordered our steaks, we bushwhacked into the salad bar. A server was on hand and very attentive. The NY strip steaks were good! Visited this restaurant for lunch. The problems started when there was only one cashier, who could have been the manager. She was taking her time taking orders and making the drinks. There were four people ahead of us when we came in and when it was my turn she tended to a man who brought his empty glasses up from a table for refills. Instead of having an employee who looked like a runner help him while she rang up orders. This was lunch time on a weekday and almost every table was occupied. There was only one server working to handle every diner in the place! She was slow, as could be expected. Still, she didn't stop by to greet us and see if we needed anything. Even though, she helped customers at tables around us and neither of us is invisible. The food took forever, and I wondered if they only had one cook on too. By the time the food came we had to get to-go boxes because it was too late to eat it there. Before I left the restaurant, I took a bite of my steak and it was so tough it took real effort to chew it, and it was supposed to be medium-rare! It was tougher after I got it home and reheated it. My steak, baked potato, and glass of tea cost $25! The potato was great, but for $25 I could have bought a Rib Eye steak, russet potato, and bottle of tea at Safeway, made the steak myself, and been able to actually eat it! I probably couldn't make the potato take like that, but it would be good. There are "Now Hiring" signs posted in the restaurant and man do they ever need people! They also need to replace the manager who should have had another cashier on while she helped handle the tables! Mom and I arrived aSunday bout 2 PM. Not busy, mom ordered the salmon with mash potato and a plated salad $5.19. I ordered ribs and unlimited salad bar $7.19. Waiter took ticket came back with additional salad plates for me. Mom's plated salad never arrived I made a couple salad bat trips. Mom' salmon came with a 1&1/2 tablespoon of mash potato. Mom said never mind her played salad. My ribs came and as I was eating the booth along the window left. Two bus boy were clearing the both dishes and drinks throwing them in the bus tub . Then I felt splashed on by a drink that hit the tub. My arm was wet my dish of food was splashed on whatever was thrown in the bin. I let the bus boys know they wet me and my food, told them to be more conscious, my mom ask them to apologize they looked at me and I asked so you're not going to apologize he look at me and said no, and they walked away. I went to talk to manager they stopped in front of me. I ASKED AGAIN YOU ARE NOT GOING TO APOLOGIZE AND ONE OF THEM POINTED AT A LADY. I explained what happened I stated my meal was not finished and my mom did not receive her salad. This lady said they probably did not understand you. we can make a new one or what would you like me to do. I explained $17.00 plate of food ruined. Again she asked me what would you like me to do? If I have to tell you, you are not a manager. I've worked as a server in my younger years and don't go out to eat and even to a Sizzler. My meal was ruined, so I told my mom let's leave I was not going to tell her comp my meal. I was happy to see it was clean and nice looking. I ordered with my son and when it was delivered, the elder gentleman just set it at our table and left. Getting ready to cut the steak, and my son already picked up the shrimp and put it in his mouth when the elderly gentleman comes quickly, but quietly saying wrong table, wrong table. My son puts it down without taking a bite, but he put it to his mouth. The server proceeds to take the plates, walk around the restaurant and puts it at the table it goes to. Very disappointed in the unlimited salad bar. The sign at the register said no chicken wings today but the staff said that they are doing an overhaul to the salad bar on September 7 and the wings will be back. Pre-pandemic they had tacos, pizza and more items on the salad bar. Not today... I ordered the chicken tenderloins to add protein to my meal. What they brought to my table looked nothing like the poster on the wall. (They were smaller than nuggets) I asked for a refund and the manager came to my table and gave me my money back. The clam chowder was just OK. I didn't eat the pasta salads because they had too much mayonnaise. I made a small green salad with veggies. I gave them two stars because the staff was very nice and the manager was apologetic when I sent the nuggets back. My family came here because of a coupon, and to be honest it wasn't worth it. The Ribs were actually good but everything else wasn't worth it. The Fried Shrimp and Steak were below average. It looked like it has been there for years! thick, black and pink mold and mildew surrounding the ice cream maker! There were families eating there, kids, omg! I would give four stars. Back in late 90s, I still love to eat "Steak and All-You-Can-Eat-Shrimp". Things are change now, perhaps, after Covid. I came here at Hayward, I was exciting to eat "Steak and All-You-Can-Eat-Shrimp". I was almost disappointed it was not on the menu, but it changed to "Steak and Unlimited Crispy Shrimp". I was glad it was still running on the menu. I ordered it. The crispy shrimp meal is still good, I enjoyed eating it and never forget eating it and sharing with my mom and dad. Somehow, today, is not the same as before. I still remember my steak it was perfect size, today it was a smaller than my hand fist. And the steak was more fat than tender meat! Secondly, I was looking forward a delicious dessert, I love to eat vanilla ice cream with some rainbow sprinkle. But I saw the only the smaller black cups as like a half cup, I used to have a small bowl for the ice cream. I was just picking it up and getting some ice cream! Unfortunately, I was in a wrong time that Ice Cream machine was Out Of Order! After learning that Sizzler is open thanksgiving day, I thought it would be a good idea to not have my mom cook and clean this year (she doesn't let anyone else help cook and clean). The 7 of us figured it would be less busy going in the afternoon. We were wrong...I think that's when more people would come, haha. So on thanksgiving day and Friday they have an option where you can order a thanksgiving platter! THANKSGIVING PLATTER - $13.99 Turkey, Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Green Beans, Sweet Potato and Slice of Pumpkin Pie. I had a taste and thought it was fine. I thought it was awesome a slice of pumpkin pie was included! CRAFT SALAD BAR - $12.99 This place seems to have a bigger selection than the one in San Leandro. I was happy they had Mac n cheese and it was pretty good. I really enjoy their pre-made salads, like the pomegranate kale with cheese. That felt fancy. The dessert selection wasn't impressive but as long as they have pudding and soft serve I'm happy. Honestly, $12.99 isn't bad for all the options! You can also have beer and wine here! A glass of wine is $6.50 and they serve a glass full! I really have no high standards for Sizzler...but it holds a special place for me because growing up, this place was considered fancy and special to my immigrant family. Not only was the food hugely underwhelming the salmon and mashed potatoes looked and taste frozen, salad bar has been scaled down to almost nothing for $18.00 (total bill was $90 and I really don't understand how they can get away with charging that!) and to boot they had offered to comp 1 of our meals and ended up burning (YES! Burning!) My credit card on their grill!!! Although they apologized they should have comped my entire meal after that! It was pretty INSANE there and not sure how they're still open, honestly! Sizzler used to be a go to spot for my family and I, but it has really gone downhill. Bathrooms were disgusted and smelled horrid. The buffet was pretty average but you could tell it had been awhile since they had replaced the food. The steak was super rubbery and made my boyfriend feel sick afterward. The Asian woman working the waiting room was very rude and did not provide or try to look for utensils on a to go order when asked several times . She kept saying the location did not have any utensils . I asked to speak to the manager , she goes into a room then turns and smirks at me. Doesn't say a manager will be with you or anything . A manager never came. A young lady who was working the register went directly into a cabinet where there were several to go utensils and provided one for me. I contacted the store manager via phone and while speaking with the "manager" he was also very rude and did nothing to help the situation stating the Asian lady (whose name he would not provide) never mentioned anything about to go utensils and even hung up in my face. The customer service here is awesome. Tip your server!! So the food is 50/50. The ribs fell off the bone, amazing flavor! The mashed potatoes were really good too. I wish the chicken had more flavor other than bbq sauce though I didn't even eat the chicken I was unsatisfied with the chicken (chicken and ribs plate) although my party liked the ribs, the fried shrimp, baked potato and the chicken that came with the trio. I'm just really upset about the chicken from the chicken and ribs plate. The strawberry lemonade is really good too. I was so excited to learn that the salad bar was back open and have been itching to go because I just LOVE their clam chowder. So, I'm sad to say that it was a total let down and left quite disappointed. My daughters each had the tri-tip and I had the salad bar so I can keep going back for the soup and we all ordered fountain drinks which brought my total to $61. Somewhat steep but whatever..... Off I go to grab my salad which I'm happy to say that everything looked fresh but the soup were all uncovered. However, I grabbed some anyway. I came back with my food and my girls had a disgusted look on their face because the soda was ridiculously sugary and it was flat, so the waiter brought out several drinks from different fountains and all were flat. We know coke isn't coke without the necessary carbonation. So, they settled for water and the waiter took that off the bill which I was very appreciative which is why instead of 1 star, I gave 2. So, I went back to see what little hot appetizers were available. The steaks (not pictured) were undercooked and very chewy, the loaded potatoes were flavorless. We asked the server if we could get something else she offered a few chicken options and jumbo shrimp. I came here after watching a Mashed YouTube video claiming that Sizzler was 1 of the better American buffet chains left in the US. Wanting to get a taste for myself, my wife and I came at what we thought was a dead time at 3:30 pm on a Sunday, instead, we found the restaurant packed and had to wait an extra 15 minutes before we could be seated. There were definitely some high notes as well as low notes: Great: -fruit (pineapple and melons) were very fresh and very sweet -assorted premade salads were pretty good too (if there are any left) -ample mayo-based salads which my wife really enjoys -fried chicken was super crispy -taco bar had free guac (although heavy on the onions and short on avocados) -unlimited fried shrimp in the shrimp+steak combo got us about 25 shrimp, way more than if you ordered the regular order of shrimp (only 12), and they were also really crispy -triffle/chocolatey-whipped cream dessert and peach cobbler were pretty tasty Not great: -spaghetti noodles and Mac+cheese are way overcooked, as expected for pasta at a salad buffet -nacho cheese for taco bar was watery -clam chowder had good flavor but was missing the clams -we found the perfectly crispy fried chicken and shrimp to both be a little overly salty -cheese toast was also really too salty, definitely opting for rolls next time -steak was completely inedible, it appears to have been cooked medium-rare as requested but the cut of meat was not tender at all, we each cut a piece and chewed for about 45 seconds before spitting it out Not gonna lie, wouldn't be shocked to find myself back here in the next calendar year...but first, I get to enjoy the whole cheeseburger that I took home uneaten since I binged on the salad bar! read more

Long story short: For around $15, it is hard to beat the all-you-can-eat salad bar which includes a drink, hot appetizers, taco bar, soups, and dessert bar. No one is going to confuse it with the buffet at the Bellagio, but it is reasonably good and well worth the price. 4 stars based on value for the money. Avoid the steak (and the restroom). The full story: We ordered the 6-ounce sirloin cooked medium. It came medium-well but I pretty much expected that. The flavor was OK, but I literally (and I mean literal in the literal sense of the word) could not cut through the gristle-y parts. What meat I did manage to break free of the gristle was tough and under seasoned. If you want a MUCH better and still reasonably priced steak, go to Texas Roadhouse. But that's not why you came to Sizzler. Along with the steak, we each ordered the all-you-can-eat salad bar. That, my friend, is why you came to Sizzler. For around $15, you get a selection of prepared salads (pasta, potato, another pasta, ...) plus a reasonably-well stocked selection of lettuces, dressings, and salad toppings. There is also a taco bar, chicken wings, more pasta, a couple of soups, several kinds of fresh fruit and a dessert bar. The price also includes a drink and they bring cheese toast to your table. Our lunch was even cheaper as the cashier assumed I was a senior (which for the record, I am not). I didn't notice until I got to the table and looked at the check. I was slightly pleased and simultaneously offended. Looking around, it appeared that literally everyone ordered the salad bar (again, I mean that in the literal sense of the word, not the "I literally died laughing" sense). The interior is dated but in good shape - bright, clean and comfortable. I cannot say the same for the restroom. I have never understood why a restaurant wouldn't spend a few thousand dollars and remodel the bathrooms. I figure if the bathroom is a broken-down mess, the kitchen must be a nightmare. It wouldn't hurt to have someone go in there periodically and remove the wet paper towels from the floor. It also wouldn't kill the customers to throw them in the waste bin. I am assuming that is true, but it appeared no one had actually run the experiment and cleaned up after themselves. And who leaves the faucet running? The ice cream machine was broken. read more

I love Sizzler! My parents would always take me and my siblings here when we were young and now I get to do the same with my kids... I love the salad bar! Clam Chowder is my absolute favorite! The customer service is great too especially because Ahmad makes it that much special! He's been working at this location for YEARS and he's so friendly & quick to bring your orders in and clean your table meanwhile bringing clean plates. I went to sizzler because I haven't been in over 10 years and I wanted to know how the food was after all these years. I ordered takeaway, a hamburger and asked for it to be medium rare. When I got home It was fully cooked. The ingredients seem fresh in the vegetable medley that came with it tasted fresh as well. For up place that serves steaks I expected my burger to be more on the rare side than the fully cooked side. Sorry to say but I won't be coming back. read more

Went to dinner with family on 12/28/22 the worse service ever the waiter never checked on us to give us refill on drinks. Ordered salad bar and all of the food that was supposed to be hot was hard , cold and stale, the salad was dark and had brown and black on it like it was old. And to top it off i had to go to the front dest multiple times to ask for napkins, cheese bread and drinks. This is ridiculous service. I've been to the sizzler's many times and it has always been very good. Today I went in and got this amazing Thanksgiving dinner last minute. It was super moist and tasty. Steak had to be returned - quality was not good/mashed potatoes felt and looked like plastic. Baked potato was ok. Ive seen others also return their entrees. I recommend sticking with the salad bar.
