When my family wanted to go to Sizzler for lunch to celebrate my nephew's birthday my first thought was, Ew. Sizzler??? There are so many restaurants in the East Bay and you want to go to Sizzler??? What's wrong with you, people?!?! UGH. I'm usually against restaurants that are buffet style because it scares me to think how so many strangers are touching the food. So many strangers... so many germs... so many diseases... eh. Plus, I have never been to a buffet where the food is stellar. They're usually expensive and I don't even eat that much in one sitting. I don't think I was ever impressed at Sizzler even though it's not a full buffet. But then I took a first bite of the delicious, sweet, and OH SO WARM bread and I had a whole new different view of Sizzler! I wanted to try everything at the salad bar! I wanted to try the soup, the dessert, the taco/spaghetti area (which I didn't get to because I was so full). And for the sake of Yelp, I took a risk and put stuff in my mouth that's been probably touched by millions of people.... and you know what? I turned out okay! Now about the quality of the food.... From a scale of 1 to 10 when it comes to freshness... the salads, the other vegetables, and fruits were a 6 or 7. The greens looked like it's been there for a few days. It still had freshness, but so close to being stale. The fruits didn't look like it was garden-fresh but the melons were still sweet and edible. The Ceasar salad was mediocre and I thought it needed a little more dressing. It tasted a lot better when I added a ton of cheese. I also mixed my own salad with mixed greens and corn, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, blue cheese dressing, and other stuff (I went crazy at the salad bar). I was really impressed with my creation! Now the Asian Chopped Salad excited the taste buds in my mouth. It was filled with sweetness, crunchiness, and so much yumminess! I would definitely have that again! Their clam chowder is okay but I don't think I need to have it again. The tortilla soup is not great. That's all I have to say about that. I had the Endless Shrimp and I liked it! It's supposed to have popcorn shrimp, shrimp skewer over a bed of rice pilaf, and shrimp stuffed with cheese. They didn't have the shrimp stuffed with cheese that day. Great. I can't believe the shrimp that I wanted to try the most (because I've never had had shrimp stuffed with cheese in my life) was not available. Booo. But they added another skewer and I was satisfied with that. The popcorn shrimp was good and crispy. You can hardly taste the shrimp, though, since the batter is really thick. But I ate all the shrimp that was on my plate so it wasn't bad at all. The shrimp skewer was a bit dry but really tasty when I squeezed a lot of lemon juice all over the shrimp. For dessert I had something that was a mixture of marshmallow and Oreo cookies. I don't remember what they call the dessert but I didn't like it. It was like eating melted marshmallow. Nothing exciting, nothing to rave about. They don't have that much dessert selection. I wasn't attracted to the yellow cream dessert with vanilla wafers so I just had an ice cream cone. Yes, I had an ice cream cone even though I dreaded touching the machine that's been infected by children's germs and I'm sure adults as well. I noticed they only had 4 toppings - chocolate syrup, M&M's, Oreo chunks, and something I don't remember. I wanted nuts but they didn't have it so I just sprinkled Oreo chunks on my choco/vanilla ice cream. It satisfied my sweet tooth. Now the service.... Ahmed is the man! He was there when we needed more bread, more eating utensils, and more drinks. When we got everything he still came by every two minutes....which was a bit much. The restaurant got busier and it took a while for him to refill my coke. It's okay, his customer service is still great in my book! It's also cool how they made everyone sing happy birthday to my nephew and gave him a dessert treat. I can understand why this Sizzler has been open for so many years. We went to Hayward to conduct some business and discovered this Sizzler location. I was pleased to see that the chain was still in business as I had not encountered an open location in quite some time. I have to compliment the management and staff at this location. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. The manager was totally on the ball and made sure everything was going the customer's way. This review is long overdue but well deserved for the horrible customer service and how my situation was handled by the restaurant manager, Joseph. Ordered on Thanksgiving via online website and it allowed me to make an order pickup for 8pm. Once I got to the restaurant, it was closed and a kitchen crew came out to let me know that their system was already off and didn't see my order come up even though I had placed it early in the morning. It was then told to come back the next day to speak with their manager Joseph who was very apologetic of how things turned out to be and assured me that he will help me with my situation, contact HR for my refund. I was asked to forward my order confirmation via email and every single time, it was always me reaching out and it was never him. After a few exchanges of emails, the manager began to ghost and become unresponsive and the matter was never situated or resolved. I was forced to take matters into my own hands and report the charge as fraud to my bank but ever since then, no communication was done by Mr. stansbury and no accommodations served for the inconvenience. The best nostalgia. As a child my father would take us to sizzler for our Saturday family dinner. Service here was excellent. There was a mix up with our order and the manager on duty that night took care of everything; I believe her name was Rebecca. She was so genuinely sweet and kind and so was our server which I unfortunately didn't get her name. I would return to this sizzler just for the service. We just came here for dinner recently because I wanted AYCE fried shrimp but decided last minute to get the steak & lobster and boy, what a smart decision! The lobster was unbelievably GOOD! My husband and I were so impressed by the food quality! It was superb considering the price point - what a value! I came into sizzler with all the stereotypes that you could hear in a lifetime and honestly was expecting a kid to kick me in the shin, a grandma smoking a cigarette, wilted lettuce, and horrible service. Wow what a pleasant surprise! It's been quite a while since we've been at a Sizzler and we didn't know quite what to expect. Our server, Sharon was really sweet and very pleasant. When we wanted to switch tables to get out of the sun she helped move all of our utensils and plates. My wife and I both got the senior salad bar at about $11. It is a great deal. Me and my guy decide to try sizzler after not having been to one in over 30 years. Got inside a rested our food we chose the salad bar the taco meat tasted like ground hot dog chilli wilted lettuce, our food came out like 30 min later and boy was I disappointed the plate had been wiped with a rag or the plate was filthy the ribs looked old the bbq sauce was jus slapped on top the mash potatoes looked like the feel off the spoon and was picked up and placed back to the plate. I requested to speak to the manger when I finally came over he did not introduce hisself he jus assured us that the food was being remade and walked off to never be seen again. I have been here three times now and never been disappointed. Mostly I come for the salad bar (basically a buffet) but the burgers are always juicy and delicious. I have not tried the steak so cannot comment on that. The salad bar has almost everything you can imagine. From real bacon to fresh eggs to pickled veggies. Plus they always have at least two premade salads (Chinese chicken and orange walnut when I was there last). The real reason to get the salad bar is the chicken wings. They are fresh fried and unlimited! The breadins is not too heavy and they have a few different things to top them in (I go for the cheese sauce). They also have a full taco bar (meat, rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, etc.). I usually grab a few chips and guacamole which is great. Soups is probably where they are lacking. The chicken noodle seems like only dark meat and it always looked undercooked. The clam chowder has food flavor but is too watered down. The albondigas was good, but I do not think they always have this. They have a dessert station with fresh bread pudding and brownies to top with the frozen yogurt. You do have to ask for a plate each time you want to make a trip to the salad bar, but it is a minor inconvenience. read more

It was about 9:30 PM on a Friday evening. We decided to stop at Sizzler to get a bite to eat. Being that this restaurant was close to closing, We didn't know what kind of experience we would have, or if they were even able to accommodate us. The Sizzler team not only accommodated us, but they also fired up the grill just to make sure that we can order anything that we wanted. And not a lot of places do that. The manager himself said that he would cook our food if he had to. Most restaurants when they're close to closing frown when people walk through the door and tell you that they're not able to serve certain foods. But not here... Our experience was above extraordinary. We ended up ordering the manager special, the Italian chicken, and the sirloin steak special. Our waiter was extremely helpful, refilled our drinks without asking, brought us cheese bread with no hesitation and was always asking constantly if we needed anything. The food was outstanding, not to mention the friendly environment. I am definitely going to come back here again. My siblings and I all live separately from my parents and today was my dad's birthday so we decided to get together to surprise him at his favorite place. We barely see him throughout the year. 3 of us had lunch before hand so we wanted to just hang out. We ordered 3 entrees with the add on salad bar. The cashier Kevin quickly took away waters and only left 3 waters on the tray. If we're not eating we can't even have a drink or water? He then assumed that we were all sharing when we weren't!! My son and I was looking for a sit down restaurant while we were in Hayward, so we stumbled across Sizzler and decided to go. We got there at 8pm and online it stated they closed at 9:30pm so good we had at least an hour to enjoy our food. A good solid three stars! Haha... I still remember during high school, Sizzlers was the place to go for all you can eat salad bar! Tacos, fruits, nachos, salads and dessert! It's still the same! It's a little better now. This Sizzlers has upgraded on the decor and remodeled after many years. I really like it now. Sizzlers is the one of the oldest American restaurants around and not too much left of this chain. Food and prices are decent still. They don't offer rib eye quality steak but the beef steak they have is cooked right, it's still good. Make it medium rare!! I still love their buttered sourdough toasted bread since I was young and offered during your meal for free but now, they have good soft dinner rolls! Soo good!! You have to ask for it though. My usual meal there is their steak and lobster meal or salmon meal with a side of baked potato fully loaded and their salad bar. Great deal! The steaks are not high quality but still decent. (Comes with a slice of pumpkin pie too but I'm not a fan of pumpkin flavored things) The turkey seemed tough and the green beans lacked flavor. Yesterday morning I went in for Breakfast and ordered Eggs Benedict. When my order was delivered, I was so shocked. I got two poached eggs on ham, five small pieces of potatoes and a frozen piece of french toast. There was no ENGLISH MUFFIN. The waitress told me that they were out of Muffins, had no orange juice and no syrup. So, I had some of my husband's breakfast and I left hungry and furious. What can you say about good old Sizzler's? A traditional and original buffet/restaurant that is still around and doing well in certain parts of the country. And along Hayward's lengthy Hesperian Blvd, Sizzler's is indeed one of the popular businesses on that long street. I was doing some work in Hayward and came here with a big appetite for a late lunch. I had the Pork rib and chicken meal. For $13.99 +tax, I get a slab of pork rib smothered with barbecue sauce and a huge grilled chicken breast. I also get a scoop of home fries and an ear of corn with my meal. The ribs were very tender and fell of the bone. The chicken breast had a nice grill taste and tender as well. For additional, I also got the "All you can eat" salad bar access for an additional $3.99. On my part, the privilege of salad bar was overly excessive and was not necessary with the hearty meal. And of course, I can't dine at Sizzler's without the famous Garlic bread...yummy! There is only a handful of the chained restaurant left in the Bay Area. The lobster was delicious and they did it better than Red Lobster. The mashed potatoes were just sad and looked like it was one of those boxed instant mashed potatoes. That steak sauce was just as I remembered as I drenched my steak with it just like I was a child again (I usually never do that was steak now obviously). My partners' nugget looking steak came out really rare when she ordered medium-rare. Like mines, it was served cold. The fries were just soggy and extremely cold. Her plate was just a cold ass mess. Came here with a group of 12 ppl, the service was excellent considering how many people we had. I loved their endless salad bars, they were really clean and fresh, they even had chicken wings at the salad bar. I ordered the steak and endless shrimp, the steak was a bit too small but none the less decent for the price. The endless shrimp was batter fried and was pretty good. The baked potato came out hot and steamy and I enjoyed it as well. Our waiter was really good, kept us all comfortable. They are great. Honestly, $35.00 feeds you and your honey just fine oh it's a beautiful thing. But then they've always been great!

So ive been inside this sizzler a few times and i always just go with the salad bar. Unlimited wings and salad and im good. But this time i decided to order it for takeout and i got the grilled chicken club and it was terrible. Fries were good but the sandwhich was just bad. Chicken was waaaaay to dry. Bread was so soggy it fell apart before i can even pick it up i asked for EXTRA pickles and they gave me two pickles. So whats a normal amount of pickles? One? All in all i think im gonna stick with the salad bar lol. read more
