This was the worst experience I have ever had...the price for the dinner buffet was 13.50 and its the same good that's served at lunch. The soup had a funny taste to it, there were very wrinkled cherry tomatoes, cut up limes that were brown!! One employee called another one over and were stopping something out of the salad dressings. After a hassle of not being able to sit on right side of restaurant due to employees wanting to leave early was a total disappointment as a past Busser/waitress it was very disturbing the manager took care of the issue and resolved it and kammie was our waitress and she was very professional and took care of our party. Went on a trip to Merced to visit family and sizzler was the top choice since everyone was craving steak! The manager Kae was able to accommodate my party and we were treated with such excellent customer service. This was an awesome Sizzler. We were in town over the weekend and ate dinner here with my parents and grandfather. There were five of us total, which shouldn't have been very hard to seat, except it was during their rush hour for dinner. Thankfully, the staff had it worked down to a tee. The people at the cash registers take your order. Then there are either servers or runners who will seat you at your table. Then you have the person who actually serves your table. Her name was Alma and she was excellent. We left her a tip afterwards for doing such a great job. She made sure our iced teas were refilled, she brought us plates and extra napkins, and just basically checked back with us periodically to make sure we were okay and had everything we needed. She was an excellent server and definitely earned her tip with us that night. Most of us ordered the all you could eat salad bar, but I'll get back to that in a second. My stepdad ordered the Fisherman's Platter with a baked potato. He was pleasantly stuffed with his meal and loved every single bite of it. My grandfather ordered the shrimp skewers and devoured it along with his baked potato. As I mentioned the rest of us got the salad bar. What I liked about this was that they had all the stations separated so as not to create a backlog of people in any one area. The salad bar was in a different location to the hot food station and the ice cream/dessert bar. The salad fixin's were plentiful and had all my favorites (diced ham, olives, bleu cheese crumbles, the list goes on). Can't quite remember the last time I've been to Sizzler, must of been years ago, but what I did remember was that the food was way better than it is today/ So came into Sizzler for the second time in my life because the bf was craving a nice steak with the endless shrimp. Honestly, I wasn't even hungry when we came here but I was like "What the heck, must be good if everyone is in here" I was totally wrong. The service we received from the cashier was bad. We kept telling her that the bf and I were just going to split the steak and endless shrimp combo he ordered and I didn't want to pay for the salad bar cause I wasn't going to have any, but she said we had to buy it for two because there was two of us. I hadn't been to my local sizzler in over a year but their recent advertisements for the grilled tri tip and shrimp skewers, with grilled zuccini, and corn reeled me in. Unfortunately I was disappointed that they served me charred / really burnt zuccini. One side was cooked decent but they put the black side down and I did not notice until I started chewing what tasted like a ball of smoke, how could they even serve this? My tri tip was cold and the rest barely warm. The waitress was nice and friendly , did a good job and brought us perfectly cooked zuccini after I asked. A Merced staple ever since Happy Steak closed decades ago. I have been here several dozens of times since I was a kid, and from my memory I cannot remember a single unpleasant eating experience. Food brought to your table hot and fresh, the salad bar is expansive and probably the best one in all of Merced. The service is excellent, courteous, and fast. Some of the workers have been here for a real long time and they are the backbone of this establishment. Great house steaks, chicken if real good, seafood is priced fair, and salad bar rocks, The dessert bar is lacking. Only soft serve ice cream, fruits, and pudding. COME BACK to find out the second salmon is even worse, and much thinner and smaller a portion that the first for $14. I don't think so. Salmon should be moist and flaky, not runny and slimy. I think everyone who reviews Sizzler's always says that it's one of the better Sizzler's around. Granted, most of the Sizzler's that have survived through to these times is probably "one of the better one's", but having tried several branches around the bay area, I think both the hot food bar and the salad bar are above average. Came on a Sunday night for dinner, three of us ordered entrees and added the endless soup/salad bar, probably spending in the low teens each. We each filled a modest plate of hot food consisting of fried chicken (yum), potato wedges, and nachos/soft tacos/hard tacos with plentiful toppings that include salsa and guacamole. Meats included the typical grilled chicken, ground beef, and even had carnitas! Soup was hearty, and better selection than just ministrone and chicken noodle. We pretty much finished our hot food before the entrees were brought out, so we just decided to save it to take home for leftover lunch =) Salad was fresh, not wilted. We were so full by the time we went for the fresh greens though, but wanted to get it in our bellies to balance out the fried chicken and tacos =P Definitely check out if you're in the area! read more

My mother took us here for the 1st anniversary of my wife and I. She had the 8 oz steak and I had the bacon burger. Both were absolutely delicious. We've gone to a few places where people don't seem to have a lot of experience grilling steak to a medium rare, but here they are familiar with it. The food was a bit bland. The steak was tender and cooked just the way I asked for it which was medium rare but very under seasoned and the sauteed mushrooms were also very under seasoned. The baked potato was ok and the Malibu chicken was really good. My friend had the steak and unlimited shrimp with fries he really enjoyed his food. The service was ok our waitress was busy helping other guests so we had to wait a few times to get more napkins and to-go boxes which was a bit frustrating. I found this to be an excellent Sizzler location. I had my first experience with Sizzler here, and I promptly recommended Sizzler to several people after my visit here. Since then, I've been to other locations, but so far I've enjoyed this location the most. I personally encountered great customer service here. Many waiters came to our table to check on how we were doing, and as we sat near the salad bar, we saw the employees frequently doing rounds around the salad bar to make sure that all the food was kept fresh and stocked. We never had a problem with too many plates at our table, and our drinks were regularly refilled. The employees definitely deserved their tip during my visit. They did lax in keeping stock of items in less obvious locations, such as the soup spoons and bacon bits, but it overall didn't dampen our experience. The baked potato could have used more pizzazz and the cheese toast was beyond salty, but overall I had a great time here. Overall, very satisfied with this location compared to the other Sizzlers I've been to. read more

Okay, I completely forgot about this place until I saw Anthony Bourdain's little segment on Sizzler with David Cho in Los Angeles, proclaiming this is the "Asian" place to be- and I can definitely see why! It's a funny setup to a buffet that promises a lot but only delivers the next day in the form that ends up in your plumbing system. I'll admit it is a guilty pleasure eating the poorly prepared food that tastes incredible but has absolutely no substance at all in any way. I can't complain other than the food was definitely nothing I can't find in the TV dinner aisle at my local Wal-Mart, the price isn't horrible and is quite affordable and you can tell some people really enjoy the free refills and the unlimited aspects of the portions at the cost of their own well-being which made me feel quite depressed here. Been here a few times , it's a decent alternative to the other restaurants in this area. Salad bar was stocked well. The only issue I have consistently is the desserts. The banana pudding is always wiped out and the ice cream is partially melted . The servers always seem tired and bothered. Came here for dinner because I was craving clam chowder, and this is the only place I know of that serves it all the time. It was about 6:30 on a Thursday and it wasn't as busy as I expected. We didn't have to wait long to order and found our seat. I got salad bar 13.49 for dinner. :O. And hubby ordered the onion bacon bbq burger. The clam chowder was bland and just ok. The cheesy toast had a funky taste even my hubby tasted. The fruit seemed under ripe. Onion rings, chicken wings and nachos were ok to good. All in all we spent 42 and change for two people with a soda and in my opinion not worth the price. I would of rather had sushi and paid less. read more

That's where the best part of the service from staff ended. 1. The young lady taking our order was terse and unfriendly, taking orders like a bad "SNL" skit. 2. Beware Veterans and active military -web says 15% they gave 5%. After we brought that to managers attention, he said "yeah, it dropped 5% to 5% during pandemic"...huh? So we're still short 5%... "oh, I don't know, I'll call corporate tonight," he says. Oh, that's a great way to handle what is a simple $10 overpayment by a military veteran. 3. Food arrived 29 minutes later...not bad... for only three of the four people. I, veteran, did not receive my food because, "the cook didn't see it on the order." She apologized and said it would be a few minutes. I split my friend's chicken dinner until mine arrived. 30 minutes later, still no dinner and my mom dad and friend have all finished. My friend went to get adjustment to bill. They told us "we'll put it in a to go container for you." Like that was a favor. Complete disregard go the fact we'd been in the awkward position of not wanting to ruin the night for my parents...especially my father, also a veteran of the US Armed forces. I only gave this 2 stars and not 1 because I like the food and the servers are great. The biggest problem and turn off was the cashier at the front. Wednesday, September 26th at 7:15 pm, i was greeted by a very hostile and angry cashier. She slammed the bowl on the plate for the salad, and rudely offered my side options. Her anger and aggression left a sour taste in my mouth the whole visit I was here. It sad to see people in customer service get too comfortable in their jobs and selectively offer good service as their mood or bias allows. Also she's doing utencils angrily. If she doesnt want to be in customer service then she shouldn't. This restaurant is doing great and doesnt need to be bogged down by a bad apple or 2. We eat here often. Maybe it was just a bad night but we arrived @ 7 pm and most of the salad bins were near empty. It was the same for the clam chowder. In the hour we were present, the bins were not refilled. They have added spaghetti and there were no wings. The spaghetti bin was also empty. The steak was over cooked. The "ice cream" was watery. I don't know if Sizzler is attempting to cut corners but they have always been consistent but not tonight. Service was good, as usual.
