I would like to preface this review with my deepest desire to have been able to leave a 5 star review. You see, we have an accumulation of memorable moments here that go back almost 20 years. This has been a mainstay for my husband & I. We have enjoyed this as a stopping point for refreshment incorporated with long motorcycle rides, including our pooches. So it stands to reason that the convenience of the outside deck and the option to bring our dog is a bonus. Side note, SRB has very recently reopened from new ownership with some slight changes. We looked forward to the new changes and enjoying one of our favorite haunts. Initially we weren't impressed for a couple of reasons, a) being we weren't sure the place was open. We noticed the sandwich board on the deck (Odd location as it typically would be out on the sidewalk to alert passers by that they were now open.) However, we were pleased to hear life from within letting us know that they were open. Hubby took the pooch and sat at a table on the deck. I went inside to make sure they were serving outside and alert them to our presence. But it appeared they were understaffed. The waitress I could see was busy. But eventually she took notice of me. Once our seating was confirmed that outdoor service was ok, we were content for the most part. Love the new menu, as I personally do not like being overwhelmed by a long list of options. The new menu does not disappoint. A 2nd waitress took our order. Hubby chose the Reuben and I chose the Blue Harvest. We were both satisfied. Now here comes b) We spent more time there than we had planned for obvious reasons. The food took way more time than it should to receive and truth be told, it wasn't that incredibly busy. But busy enough to keep a couple of waitresses busier than they could manage in a timely fashion. Add that our waitress was also bartending. Couple that with whatever was going on in the kitchen. Because when I went in, I saw one person in the kitchen. Here again, It could be under staffing there as well. I don't know. We arrived around 5:30p and left just shy of 7:30p. We had not anticipated spending that much time there. Now having said that, our waitress was as accommodating as she could be considering the load she was carrying. Again, as I prefaced we want so very much for SRB to be a success as this has been a part of our life for many years and we hope for many memory making years to come. Making sure that the establishment obviously appears to be open is paramount. Case in point, we heard a couple small groups verbalizing the same concern we had and that was whether or not the place was open. Again, maybe having the sandwich board out on the sidewalk may clarify that. Perhaps encouraging the wait persons to keep one eye peeled for newly arriving customers may be helpful. Having to stand for some time waiting to be seated (Of course this is only if you're sitting outside) but waiting without acknowledgement for sometime would move many to move onto the next establishment. We understand, being business owners for 25+ years and seeing the repercussions of this side of the pandemic. The outcome is glaring. Good help is hard to find. Many do not want to work or desire a paycheck without putting forth effort. We totally get the struggle. In all likelihood it's a new beginning with some hiccups to smooth out coupled with the aforementioned of hiring workers. None the less, we will be back. No doubt about it. I just wanted to express the concerns and hope this is helpful. As things improve (And I'm leaning toward that positive outcome) I will update my review moving forward. read more

I've been to restaurants with slow service, but this one takes the prize. There were several occupied tables when we arrived around 2 PM on a Sunday afternoon; 3 teens and 3 adults. We ordered 2 burgers, a fish and chips, a Caesar salad and a side salad, one Pepsi and 5 waters, along with one appetizer. The appetizer got to us after 55 minutes and when that was eaten like we were starved dogs, we got 1 refill on the waters. Our waiter had a difficult time finding his smile and friendly, welcoming demeanor. I'm virtually positive he'd had an awful day with crowds from the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. That said, it was 2 PM and when you make your living from happy diners, you put aside your complaining feet and fragile l nerves and greet your people pleasantly. There are now 6 tables occupied and still no food (we are at 1 hour 15 minutes). I truly hope this salad is extraordinary, but I'm not holding much hope! Sorry, folks! I am fairly positive we won't be back! On a little more positive note, we finally got our food; it was average pub fare and the salads we typically bagged, but cold and crisp. Then just as we were ready to leave, the waiter did stop at our table and apologized for the slow service. We spent about 1 hr 45 min for lunch! read more

Pre-covid,.this place was amazing. Now, their new menu is basic and the food is no better than a Denny's. Service is good, beers are good, but the food is not good. Fish and chips came with cabbage, not coleslaw, dry shredded cabbage. The tartar sauce is mayonnaise, the burgers are flavorless, the produce tastes old and sad. Fries are good. All in all, sad for the loss of the SRB that was so loved. read more

The salad, burger, and fries were decently good... but... no table service at the upstairs tables, said tables were sticky with who-knows-what on them (they clearly needed better cleaning), all the condiment bottles were nearly empty, and they mixed up our orders. My burger had half of my friend's toppings on it, and hers had toppings which she didn't order. When I informed the staff of this, they said that the kitchen was busy. There were MAYBE a dozen people in the small restaurant... there's NO WAY that constitutes "busy" to the extent that they can't keep our orders straight. read more

Had the smoked brisket sandwich, and they hit it out of the ballpark AND the state. 10/10. Plenty of smokey, tender beef, a fantastic, spicy sauce, and red onion and chedder on a great bun. Fantastic! Came with a generous side of fries that were cooked perfectly, too. I also had a seasonal strawberry-rhubarb cider. My two companions each had salmon Caesar salads, which they both loved. We went here for lunch and paid nearly $20 per plate for mediocre food that ended up upsetting our bellies. We had water and couldn't get refills to save our lives. We hadn't been in in about a year and had hoped for a better experience. It was still not so great service, mediocre food, and very expensive...will continue to eat at home. This place has gone downhill in my opinion. I've been coming here off and on for the past 25 years, and our visit last weekend left me wondering if I'd ever return. The beer was great as usual, but the food and service were lacking. I've always loved the 3rd St Combo pizza, but what they served me was akin to a frozen pizza. What was once a heavily topped delicious pie had been reduced to mostly cheese with a few pieces of meat here and there. My wife ordered the nachos which were supposed to have guacamole which was absent, and no layering of toppings whatsoever. Just a layer of cheese on a pile of chips. The server then explained they just didn't have time to make it today as they were short staffed. I'll give 2 stars for this one and it's sad to me. Good service! Food....don't bother. We ordered simple BLT's. The bread was good. The bacon way over cooked but had ok flavor. The tomato and lettuce were the same color. See picture. We were offered new tomatoes by our lovely server. Out came the next batch of tomato. Beautiful and red! Why didn't they give me these to begin with? It bothers me more that they had these but gave me the paper thin, white tomatoes. And the lettuce needs no comment. Sadly, we will not be back. Going out to eat should be a treat and well, this was not. I hope our server finds a place worthy of her skill. read more

Super disappointing experience here, even with pretty low expectations. Server was nice enough but that's kind of where the good experience ends. It wasn't too busy and while they were obviously understaffed, a few things happened that were inexcusable. It took forever to get our food, the appetizer came out with the main meal, and we were never given silverware or napkins. We realized that if we needed to wait for silverware and napkins our food would get cold so we just started eating and were almost done by the time we finally got up, went inside, and asked for cutlery. Even then it took several minutes for them to get it out to us. The food was mediocre at best, not everything that was in the food was listed on the menu which is super annoying if you have an aversion to something like cilantro. The pulled pork potatoes were good, that was supposed to be our appetizer but kind of became our side dish And seriously, if you are that far behind then I don't want to see half the staff going out for a smoke break. We were starving, cold, and annoyed. read more

Just went to Skagit River Brewery for the first time with all the new changes. The wait staff was so friendly and helpful and the wait time for our food was super short. My husband got the cod sandwich and it was amazing. There were 2 good sized pieces of breaded fish with a spicy sauce, lettuce, tomato and jalapeños. It wasn't too spicy but was incredibly tasty. I got the brisket chili fries and was not disappointed. The serving was huge! I split it with the husband. There were big chunks of tender brisket in the chili and the fries were really good. Obviously they got a little soggy but I eat slow so I blame that on me! 10/10 would come back again and recommend to everyone we know. read more

We held a "Huggies and Chuggies" themed co-ed baby shower at SRB for our daughter and son in law. The upstairs was a perfect sized space for our group of about 40, with plenty of room for folks to sit and eat or mingle about. The barbeque buffet was perfect and the brisket was sooo good. The best part though about the party being at SRB (well besides their beer, good food, and cool building!) was the friendliness and attentiveness of the whole SRB team. They went above and beyond with the buffet, taking guests drink orders, and checking in frequently to see if anything was needed. Even with the restaurant being busy downstairs they ensured everything was perfect. Truly a great venue with a casual vibe, really great food and drink, and an amazing, friendly team that goes above and beyond. We stopped here on our way back from Canada. Had been here twice before years ago on various trips. The food that we had was AMAZING! I had the chowder and the Blue Harvest Salad. Husband had the brisket bbq sammie with fries. Both were so tasty! Service was top notch! And lastly the Ipa I had was really good too! (Sunbreaks) We sat out in the deck as it was a beautiful day. Overall a really great experience! The food is from scratch and they smoke their own meats. The brewmaster is a real talent too! We'll be back! read more

We came here for lunch, and was told this place was pretty good. I lived up to what I heard about. Parking is on the street and can be a bit challenging, but it was not too bad. It is right next to the train tracks, and I mean right there, and there are trains, and a crossing, so you will hear the horn at the last minute....The service was pretty good, we had a new guy, and he was properly trained, and could answer all the questions. I liked the food, however they had a busy day I was there, so it was not as hot as I would have liked it, and the fries were a bit undercooked. Couldn't recommend more. We came to the Skagit River Brewery for dinner on our first night in Mt Vernon on a hiking trip and were super impressed. The beer selection was good, great patio and music, and the food was amazing. We got the special Porktato Skins as an appetizer and the manager gave us a small plate of the nachos on the house just because which were awesome. All of our entrees were great- the Cuban, Jalapeño cod sandwich and the blackened cod fish tacos. Overall a really great experience and we wish we were staying in Mt Vernon longer so we could come back again! read more

We had a late lunch here and I decided to try the pizza. The menu that was given to us, which was white, showed only one choice for $20 and said I could choose up to 3 toppings, which I did. When we got the bill, the price charged was $26, $2 for each topping. When I look online at the pizza choices, many have 3 toppings and they're only $20, so I think I was ripped off. Now, let talk about the pizza. It's advertised as thin crust, which it is. The crust is like a saltine cracker and it's topped with tomato paste, not a good sauce, and the other toppings are very skimpy. This has to be the poorest excuse for a pizza that I've ever seen. I used to like the SRB, when it was under the previous management, but I will never give them my business again! read more

This was by far the worst restaurant experience my family has ever had. It was a fairly quiet afternoon and many open tables. It took 15-20 minutes to be greeted at our table. Many items on the menu weren't available anymore but there was zero notice of this when being seated or provided menus. It took 3 hours for us to be served cold food, 2 of our hamburgers never arrived, every item was cold and the $15 chicken strips was only slightly larger than the children's $7 meal. The chicken was comparable to Tyson microwaveable chicken. The fries were cold and soggy. The food had ingredients on it that was not listed on the menu... which is frustrating to people who have allergies or aversions. The food was absolute garbage. the fish tacos were ice cold and hardly any fish was buried under the soggy cabbage and extremely spicy sauce (I was told they were not spicy). Wait staff was seen taking multiple smoke breaks and texting outside while we watched our food sit under the warmers by the front door for 20-30 minutes. When we inquired about our food, the waitress made a joke about spitting in our food for asking and laughed. I have experienced not great food, poor service and slow wait time before... but this experience ruined our entire day. Cherry on top, after talking with the manager, they only comped us the burgers never arrived (despite only eating 1/4 of what was brought to the table) and they charged us $92. They didn't care at all. Avoid going to this place at all costs. read more

The server said she had worked there for three months and was surly in disposition. When asked if the posted WIFI password was correct. She indicated it was. I said that it was showing as incorrect. She then said again it was correct. I asked if I should use the "pound " sign; the server indicated it was a huge a hashing, not a pound sign. She also said not to use a capital letter as shown on the sign. Go figure. The food finally arrived and was very good. If service had been better, I would have given SRB a 5 star rating. read more

I used to come here all the time when I pass by. However, I was astounded when I saw the menu has been reduced to one sided letter size paper. All the faves like fried oysters, fish chips were missing. I was told by the waif staff that mgmt change was in progress and the kitchen cannot reproduce the menu of before right now. It was alright food very greasy burgers. I enjoyed the jalapeño sandwich, we waited for the food for about 40ish minutes. My sister is pescatarian and she could only have fish and chips or salmon.
