The new owners have dropped most of the Greek offerings that made Skidders the most popular restaurant on St Pete Besch while also raising the prices on a slimmed down menus. It is With grest sadness it appears the new owners have succeeded in destroying a 25 year reputation Skidders had for providing excellent friendly service, and great and varied large selection of family friendly foods featuring mostly quick dishes. The staff that made possible are for the most part eliminated and along with them the former excellent quality of the food has suffered substantially, and is no longer among the best on the beach. The famous Skidders special pizza has suffered greatly and is now only a soft mushy crusted dough pie with sausage, vegetable and cheese on top. It's not worth ordering. The loss of Peter and Gus, as the managers has been fatal as demonstrated by the very visible drop in customers that no longer line up out the door for breakfast lunc and dinner. The newly hired constantly changing staff is largely inexperienced, young, and with no real personalities that made Skidders famous. This is apparently a serious effort to reduce cost, which also has impacted the quality of the food they now serve There are other good restaurants that deserve and earn my money and praise. read more

So we went here for breakfast on vacation and it was pretty packed with people on the morning. The manager was taking care of people coming in and getting people seated quickly. Our waitress wasn't consistent with coming by so that kind of put a dampener on things. The food was ok but not the greatest. The Greek salad was not good. They put a block of feta cheese on top for you to crumble. The tomatoes and cucumbers needed to be cut as well. The beach walk salad with salmon was not pleasing. The service was great! Walter the bartender was amazing. The atmosphere was good, it is a quieter place. The food was hit and miss. We ate here for dinner one night and then again for lunch the next day. We decided on dinner because it was walking distance from our resort. The dinner experience was really terrible. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs and let the server know that I didn't want cheese on my pasta. He then tells me that all their sauces have cheese in them. They make their sauces with cheese. What? Come on! Who does that? I passed on dinner because I was so angry with them at that point. We decided to give it another try the next day. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with fries and it was actually kind of good. It wasn't as busy as the night before and thus, the food took way less time to get to our table. The server was nice and I told her about the cheese issue the night before. She verified that they do make their sauces with cheese. This restaurant is more like 2 1/2 stars. Since there are so many other restaurants in the area, I probably wouldn't eat here again. It just wasn't good enough to warrant another visit. read more

Well, where do I begin? On vacation my family and I decided to try Skidders on our first night in St. Pete beach. This place appears very unassuming. DO NOT underestimate it! What comes across a "diner" happens to have amazing seafood. (My wife had seafood pasta) It had salmon, grouper, shrimp, scallops and calamari. She loved it but, there was enough for lunch the next day so, she didn't get the clean plate award! LOL! Our son and I had simple pizzas. Simple as in simply delicious. High quality ingredients. The cheese stretched for a mile. Stretch factor is the simplest test for quality cheese. Speaking of quality cheese...... the parmigiana cheese in the shaker was REAL. That that powdered crap. Oh yeah, back to the pizza. The pizza at this full menu'd Greek/Italian restaurant served better pizza than some pizza places I've been to. Golden crust, on the thin side but still had some body to it. A sweeter sauce, thick and not runny. Generous amount of toppings as well. The staff was very good. Never had our drinks get empty. My family and I ate at this restaurant last night for dinner. It is directly across the street from our hotel room. Being from New Jersey I would definitely say this restaurant is comparable to a local diner. My daughter who is 2 1/2 ordered the children's portion of spaghetti and meatballs, which was very large and tasty. (Of course I had to taste it before she would.). My husband and I visited Skidders last Saturday and were dismayed to find their menu had changed. We have been customers during the winter for many years. It has always been one of our favorite stops. The menu was varied and the food was great. Now, the menu is VERY limited and our favorites are no longer available! This is so disappointing. Place on the main drag in St. Pete beach. My chief complaint is they do too many things. They have Italian, pizza, seafood, and Greek. I heard the owners speaking Greek so I went with the lunch special gyro and soup which was a winner. Homemade navy bean soup was great and the gyro was made to order. The pita was fresh and grilled the meat was premade slices but cooked well. The tzatziki was homemade and chunky - awesome. Fries were fresh. My coworkers food was not so well done. The BLT had very little bacon. The club was unenthusiastic. No one wanted to go back. I would have given 2 stars but because my meal was good I went with three. Food was good overall and prices were fair. Our waitress the blonde with the nose ring was very nice. I enjoyed my dinner and if it wasn't for the next part of the review it would have been four or five stars. Got lucky on a busy night during spring break and scored a seat at the bartop. Little did we know we sat next to the owner who offered us a bite of his quail off his personal dinner plate!! We eat here literally everyday because the menu options are endless, every dish is perfectly cooked and delicious, every server gets minimum 20% tip for outstanding service and everyone gets treated like they are part of the Skidders family! Solid place for breakfast. I ordered the country fried steak. It was pretty good. I had scrambled eggs on the side. What I ended up getting was an egg that was more crepe like in delivery. So imagine your scrambled eggs being a little more like an omelette. This would be points off but I have to admit that the eggs were very good. What's noticeable about the place is the value. It's considerably larger in portion and less expensive than eating breakfast at the Tradewinds Island Grand which I am staying. I went tonight with my family, kids celiac so usually we're limited to only a few chain restaurants. First off this restaurant's owner also owns Craft Cafe a great gluten free cafe we visited. He sat down next to us and explained what they could do for us gluten free and in addition to the attentive staff stopped by multiple times to make sure everything was ok. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant for anyone, and I'm sure if by chance something wasn't right they'd fix it. I had seafood pasta, my wife had the pizza burger. The kids had gluten free burger and chicken Alfredo with side Caesar salads no croutons. All was excellent and would re-order it again. Although their pizza looked really good. A great place to get breakfast! It gets busy fast! Luckily, I came in at a good time (9AM) and was seated with my party of 9 right away. There were quite a few people waiting at 10AM for a table to open up. The service was very friendly. I had a cheese omelet which was basic but good. Their hash browns are large chunks of potatoes with onions. If you don't like onions, don't worry because they don't overload them. Most of my family enjoyed their food, my mom really liked her mediterranean omelet. The only issue with the food was that my step father was served practically a burnt waffle, very visually obvious, and he won't send things back so he basically dealt with it, but it should never have been served in the first place like that.
