So we went here for breakfast on vacation and it was pretty packed with people on the morning. The manager was taking care of people coming in and getting people seated quickly. Our waitress wasn't consistent with coming by so that kind of put a dampener on things. The food was ok but not the greatest. I ordered corn beef hash with scrambled eggs and it wasn't anything special. I can't really say i would run back to eat here again. read more

The service was great! Walter the bartender was amazing. The atmosphere was good, it is a quieter place. The food was hit and miss. The cook had apparently quit an hour prior and something's were not as the menu described. Highly recommend the stuffed flounder, the stuffed mushrooms and the Gumbo. read more

The food was the BEST BREAKFAST we had ever had!! The servers were kind and did their best to give us the ROYAL treatment! My boys were over the moon for their chocolaty goodness, and decadent banana split waffles and I more than enjoyed the huevos rancheros. And my kid said the pancakes are so yummy! We ate here for dinner one night and then again for lunch the next day. We decided on dinner because it was walking distance from our resort. The dinner experience was really terrible. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs and let the server know that I didn't want cheese on my pasta. He then tells me that all their sauces have cheese in them. They make their sauces with cheese. What? Come on! Who does that? I passed on dinner because I was so angry with them at that point. We decided to give it another try the next day. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with fries and it was actually kind of good. It wasn't as busy as the night before and thus, the food took way less time to get to our table. The server was nice and I told her about the cheese issue the night before. She verified that they do make their sauces with cheese. This restaurant is more like 2 1/2 stars. Since there are so many other restaurants in the area, I probably wouldn't eat here again. It just wasn't good enough to warrant another visit. read more

After going to Skidders for more than 20 years, today was my last time. None of the employees were friendly at all, and their new prices are ridiculous!!! A $15 omelette doesn't even include toast! Toast is an extra $4. Seriously, $4 for toast? If you want 2 side chocolate chip pancakes, that's $15 more. I wonder if you have to pay extra for a bun, if you get a hamburger. The only good thing the new ownership did was destroy a great restaurant. No wonder the parking lot was empty on a Sunday morning. I should have known. read more

My husband and I visited Skidders last Saturday and were dismayed to find their menu had changed. We have been customers during the winter for many years. It has always been one of our favorite stops. The menu was varied and the food was great. Now, the menu is VERY limited and our favorites are no longer available! This is so disappointing. I will never understand why a new owner feels the need to change a very successful establishment. Unfortunately, we will no longer be going to Skidders. It pains me to say that, but it's the truth. Beautiful Mediterranean style decor. Our food and service were superb!! My chicken piccata was phenomenal. My husband loved the French onion soup. Our friends had a pizza and chicken parmigiana. Skidders has amazing food with true Greek authenticity! The staff is friendly and accommodating. Their pizza is fabulous! We had the Italian and added mushrooms and anchovies to our taste. The rack of lamb is to die for! Every time we've had it, it is cooked to perfection! Another one of our favorites is the salad with Scottish salmon. Well, where do I begin? On vacation my family and I decided to try Skidders on our first night in St. Pete beach. This place appears very unassuming. DO NOT underestimate it! What comes across a "diner" happens to have amazing seafood. (My wife had seafood pasta) It had salmon, grouper, shrimp, scallops and calamari. She loved it but, there was enough for lunch the next day so, she didn't get the clean plate award! LOL! Our son and I had simple pizzas. Simple as in simply delicious. High quality ingredients. The cheese stretched for a mile. Stretch factor is the simplest test for quality cheese. Speaking of quality cheese...... the parmigiana cheese in the shaker was REAL. That that powdered crap. Oh yeah, back to the pizza. The pizza at this full menu'd Greek/Italian restaurant served better pizza than some pizza places I've been to. Golden crust, on the thin side but still had some body to it. A sweeter sauce, thick and not runny. Generous amount of toppings as well. The staff was very good. Never had our drinks get empty. Friendly and personable. We'll be back before vacations over! read more

My family and I ate at this restaurant last night for dinner. It is directly across the street from our hotel room. Being from New Jersey I would definitely say this restaurant is comparable to a local diner. My daughter who is 2 1/2 ordered the children's portion of spaghetti and meatballs, which was very large and tasty. (Of course I had to taste it before she would.). I ordered the grouper franchise, which was simply delicious. My husband ordered the grouper sandwich. All of the portions were generous, and the price was also very reasonable. This place is a well oiled machine. Like a conductor bringing an orchestra to perfect tune. It's our regular breakfast stop on St. Pete beach. The food and service are top notch. Could not recommend more highly. If you see a line of people waiting for a table, just watch the owner/manager get everyone seated. It's a show in itself. read more

No waiting area so you just sit there and get in the way. I ordered the southern Benedict which was supposed to be bacon, poached egg and sausage gravy. It came out with hollandaise which would have been fine but the hollandaise was gross and the biscuit was cold. read more

Place on the main drag in St. Pete beach. My chief complaint is they do too many things. They have Italian, pizza, seafood, and Greek. I heard the owners speaking Greek so I went with the lunch special gyro and soup which was a winner. Homemade navy bean soup was great and the gyro was made to order. The pita was fresh and grilled the meat was premade slices but cooked well. The tzatziki was homemade and chunky - awesome. Fries were fresh. My coworkers food was not so well done. The BLT had very little bacon. The club was unenthusiastic. No one wanted to go back. I would have given 2 stars but because my meal was good I went with three. I would suggest they narrow the menu and stick with what they do well. Not deli. read more

Food was good overall and prices were fair. Our waitress the blonde with the nose ring was very nice. I enjoyed my dinner and if it wasn't for the next part of the review it would have been four or five stars. The only issue is you can hear the staff (waitresses and kitchen staff) in the kitchen swearing and saying garbage about customers. Kind of made us uncomfortable in a way. They weren't talking about us but still a bad vibe. read more

Conveniently walking distance from Tradewinds resort, however, OLD food...raw chicken, burned lettuce.... ordered the chicken platter. (Souvlaki) My kids ordered pasta with meatballs and ravioli with meat sauce.... super sweet and cinnamon was very evident. My husband ordered a pita sandwich, which came with a DRY AND HARD pieces of gyro and some tomato slices that looked like it had mold on it. When we asked the server, she said it might have been close to a tzatziki sauce ( which was missing from the sandwich) Save yourself some money, frustration and go elsewhere. Got lucky on a busy night during spring break and scored a seat at the bartop. Little did we know we sat next to the owner who offered us a bite of his quail off his personal dinner plate!! Not just a bite.. and whole leg for my boyfriend and the wing for me. The man was so generous our entire dinner giving us shots of their own special liquor and glasses of house made wine. At first I had high hopes especially with all the good reviews but I come to the conclusion that the owner delete bad ones and we shall see how well this one stays! So we had a party of 10 people! Each pretty much ordered something different! Biscuit and gravy was inedible and was sent back! Omelette was just ok! French toast was not sweet like advertised! And up charge on almost everything! Like turkey bacon which is CHEAPER then regular bacon cost $2.50 upcharge to substitute! Overall our waitress was nice and attentive but won't be back anytime soon! read more

Have been coming to Skidder's every year since we found this gem in 2006. We eat here literally everyday because the menu options are endless, every dish is perfectly cooked and delicious, every server gets minimum 20% tip for outstanding service and everyone gets treated like they are part of the Skidders family! Solid place for breakfast. I ordered the country fried steak. It was pretty good. I had scrambled eggs on the side. What I ended up getting was an egg that was more crepe like in delivery. So imagine your scrambled eggs being a little more like an omelette. This would be points off but I have to admit that the eggs were very good. What's noticeable about the place is the value. It's considerably larger in portion and less expensive than eating breakfast at the Tradewinds Island Grand which I am staying. So for a savings, you get a very presentable and clean restaurant with above average breakfast fare. I think it's definitely worth your time to check it out. read more

Made a reservation and was seated right away. Though part of the restaurant was under construction, did not impact our experience. Waitress and overall service was great. Wonderful service and excellent food. Haven't been here in several years and wanted to try it again. Will absolutely be going back when we return on our next vacation. Very friendly and attentive staff. We had the seafood platter, stuffed flounder and spaghetti with meatballs. We had steamed broccoli and potato fingerlings as sides. We are not normally bread eaters and the more we looked at it, we thought it was a mistake. We flagged our waitress again as she was walking by and asked again. This time she said, "you did not order garlic knots?" and we said no, we ordered the meatball appetizer. She promptly takes the bread, goes back to the kitchen area and I thought I heard her say "lunch" to the chef, I assume. Not sure why this was confusing as my husband literally pointed at the lunch menu as he was ordering and saying we were going to split. Not a big deal at this point but then it seems like moments later she is back with the meatballs and the bolognese. We look at the dishes and we were literally shocked. We had never seen such small meatballs (2) for an appetizer for $9. I thought the meatballs would be redundant since we ordered bolognese but there was so little meat in the dish (maybe 2-3 teaspoons at the most) and so little pasta (think small salad bowl or plate size) that it was not redundant at all. A side of bread was brought with dipping oil as well. It was mid afternoon and we were very hungry at this point so we started eating.. Sadly the meatballs and bolognese were brought to us luke warm as if they had been warmed up. We certainly did not have a long wait so they were not sitting cooling down anywhere. We just ate our meal and ended up eating the bread (which was excellent) because it was not enough food for us. The waitress checked on us towards the end of our meal and finally brought my husband's 1/2 glass of $10 wine (we thought she had forgotten). We did not mention the temperature of the food because at that point we had already eaten it most of it. Looking at other reviews now I see some people did mention luke warm food and the owner did not seem to believe them. We know what was presented to us and yes, it was luke warm. We thought the food was pricey for what you get and the luke warm food on top of it makes us have no inclination to try this restaurant again. Overall we were not wowed by the quality of the food except the bread which we normally never eat.
