I love this place. I'm so glad it's here. There was a great breakfast place here before Skillet and when they left, I was so disappointed, but not anymore! Skillet has filled that void for me and then some... They have a modern-diner vibe but old-school classic breakfast food, which is my favorite. I always get the comfort plate with eggs over easy, pancakes, bacon and wheat toast. The pancakes are always HUGE and fluffy, eggs cooked perfectly and I want to give a special shout-out to the home fries - some of the best I've ever had!! Real rough-chopped potatoes that are well seasoned and almost charred on the outside but soft and light on the inside. The char gives them great flavor in my opinion. I love the food here and would recommend everyone giving this place a try!

This is one of my favorite go to spots for a good breakfast! The staff and service never disappoint - Jill is a sweetheart and makes you smile with a simple greet. I feel safe eating here for the COVID protocols they have in place: plastic utensils and silverware make for safe one-time use. The staff is always wearing a mask and require their guests to do the same when not at their table. They have outdoor seating as well, this feels like a cute town diner and a must visit.

They got me in, and served when I thought they'd be closing - thank you!! A great bottomless cuppa Joe. Every diner breakfast treat you can imagine. Friendly and wonderful staff. Nice counter as well as tables. Plenty of parking. Priced just right. No negatives whatsoever. Highest recommendation. 02SEP2022

For what it is, it's great! Dump outside kitschyinside fabulous service, messy, by delicious, unhealthy food, just what people want in the morning. Perfect for once a year. More if you dare!

Wow, never had a sausage with no salt in my life, blueberry pancakes home made as it is, blueberry is fresh, may be I just never had it, toast is perfectly done, will definitely my new breakfast joint

To quote Art B. who quoted Arnold, I'll be back. For sure. I am glad The Mad Hatter is still around, and even more so, I am glad the little hideaway that housed it wasn't turned into luxury condos, but instead was made into another cute breakfast spot. I can definitely see it becoming a local dive/haunt that we won't let become luxury condos. I ordered the Irish Soda Bread French Toast with a side of bacon. I found the French Toast lackluster. Consistency-wise, it was the same throughout, no crispness on the outside and gooeyness on the inside. Furthermore, with the use of soda-bread, I was hoping for a unique texture or flavor... if it was there, it didn't make itself known. Also, the portion of Soda Bread French toast was surprisingly small. I mean, I know the menu said there would only be two slices, what it didn't say was that I'd get a plate fit to be a kid's meal. For the record: I don't believe in huge portions for huge portions' sake. Still, I don't want to get a plate and be thinking "wait, that's it?" It would be a different story if we were talking about a dégustation menu. Then there's the bacon... yikes man! I like bacon a little bit on the crispy side, but this stuff came out burnt. If I'd made a special request, like "and make it crispy!" I would understand, but no such request was made. Coffee was solid, diner-grade stuff, except of one thing: They had Irish Creme flavored coffee, which I remembered a have a mild weakness for. It was awesome, especially for a place like this. Sure, it not the caliber of a roastery like Red-Eye or Stumptown, but everything is relative. Finally, the service was superb! Food came out fast, and my friend and I were very well taken care of, with our server making sure we were happy and that our coffee cups would never empty.

Blueberry Pancakes, Corned Beef Hash Scramble, Sunny side up eggs, Belgian Waffle and GRILLED CORNBREAD! ALL FABULOUS!!!

I see lots of…read moreregulars here too, which to me is always a good sign as I don't think anybody would come back to a place the food or service were not good. The menu changes with new items quite a bit, but old favorites are always available. The ingredients are very fresh and include vegetable vegetables and fruits and whole-grain breads and more. I've had some fantastic chicken rice soup there, various "toast" options which include peanut butter or Nutella, fresh berries, honey, and more and are always delicious. I've had white chili which I would definitely order again. They have a special toast option that has hummus, hot sauce and egg to which I always add mashed avocado: this is one of my favorites And I've had a fabulous French toast with real maple syrup, which is one of my all-time favorites anywhere and it is especially delicious here. This business offers all of this plus a wide array of smoothie beverages. One of my favorites is the PB cup smoothie : Banana, Teddy's Natural Peanut Butter, Flax Seeds, Organic Chocolate Protein, Almond Milk and Chocolate Drizzle. Because I love heat, and I added it to virtually everything, I ask for a generous shake of cayenne pepper. Don't knock it till you try it! The lunch is here are awesome as well. My favorite is the turkey apple flatbread sandwich. It has sliced turkey, green apple, cheddar cheese & honey mustard pressed in naan bread. There are only two instances where I've had food that I haven't liked here: one was a sandwich that had a arugula on it, but that is simply because I just don't like arugula. No fault of the establishment. The other was the tuna fish sandwich, which I believe had way too much salt. One of my coworkers had the tuna sandwich and felt the same way. Other than these two small instances over the course of many many visits for breakfast and lunches I have no complaints. I highly recommend this establishment.

I got a seasonal matcha that was delicious. Unfortunately, none of that can make up for the fact that no one working there seems the least bit interested in even acknowledging customers as they walk in. When I got there, there were two people in front of me in line. The front counter guy went about taking mobile orders, etc while never speaking to anyone in the line. When they got to the front, no apologies for the delays, barely even eye contact. That's just a huge bummer for a place that had all the makings to be really special.

While the Grill and Eye is not a diner, but a restaurant that serves a filling breakfast with all of the favorites that one might have when one goes to a diner, I am reviewing this establishment. As for the atmosphere in this place, it is very tiny and only has a small number of tables, it always has waitresses, hustling, heaping plates of eggs and bacon and French toast and pancakes and sausages, and home fries to the hungry folks, waiting at their small tables. You can count on the food being hot and fresh, which is what breakfast should be. You might have to wait a bit to get inside, but it's worth the wait. I really enjoyed that French toast so satisfying with sweet maple syrup and a mound of butter melting along the sides. I personally like that it is small because it's intimate. I like that it's crowded because it's popular. I like the way staff because they are always friendly. I definitely recommend that you check this place out. I must admit I have not tried anything but their breakfast here before. If the breakfast food is any indication of the tastiness of their other meals like lunch, I would recommend a visit.
